ABIDING NOW AS THAT WHICH IS BEYOND THE BEINGNESS AND THE NON-BEINGNESS

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

FROM A SITE VISITOR: [Referencing the answer to his question yesterday]: Clearer, but still not 'getting it' completely.

F.: So, one more try:

Some site regulars might recall the advice offered to a man at a retreat whose key driver was his fear of death. The advice went something like this: "Then go ahead and die now and be done with it."

Meaning, give up the attachment to the beingness and to the false sense of "being this" or "being that"; furthermore, move beyond any sense of non-beingness as well. To reach that non-beingness state requires an understanding of the original state, which did not involve the Absolute but which involved the Void - that nothingness state - which preceded the manifestation of what is called "this universe" and which preceded the manifestation of that Absolute field of specialized energy that has the potentiality to be, temporarily, "conscious of."

Maharaj: "To be a living being is not the ultimate state; there is something beyond, much more wonderful, which is neither being nor non-being, neither living nor not living. It is a state of pure awareness, beyond the limitations of space and time."

To understand that state of Awareness without awareness is to facilitate the overlaying of the Absolute upon the beingness while understanding that which is even beyond the non-beingness.

When the man mentioned above takes mahasamadhi, he will no longer have any sense of having been - no sense of any former state of beingness; nor will there be any "one" to be aware of non-beingness. There will be neither a sense of "I AM" or "I WAS" nor a sense of "NOW I AM NOT BEING WHAT I WAS BUT I KNOW THAT I AM NOW BEING 'THAT'." No sense of being; no sense of non-being. Free.

If the understanding comes now, though, that same sense of freedom can manifest now. (Consider the joy and freedom that could come to the billions of "believers" if they were to understand the simplicity of cycling, if they were to know that neither judgment, nor reward or punishment, awaits! Yet their desire - the desire for continuity and reward - will preempt any opportunity for the understanding to come.)

Maharaj: "Once you go beyond your self-identification with your past, you are free to create a new world of harmony and beauty. Or you just remain -- beyond being and non-being."

Perfect peace involves abiding as either the Absolute (as Awareness That Is Not Aware Of) or as the nothingness. The beauty of abiding as That which is beyond both the beingness and the non-beingness is that even as the beingness continues until the consciousness un-manifests, the lightness of non-beingness manifests as well, now.

Maharaj: "Awareness is my nature; ultimately I am beyond being and non-being."

When abidance happens beyond attachment to the beingness, but without any simultaneous sense of regret that one is presently not being, then freedom and peace will manifest as living happens (and happens with very few knowing "where" it is that you live).

As mentioned previously, many know the physical address of the house here, but few know "where" I live. But then how could they? They don't even know "what" I AM, much less "where" I AM.

Questioner: "Where do you live, then?"

Maharaj: "In the void beyond being and non-being, beyond consciousness. This void is also fullness; do not pity me. It is like a man saying: 'I have done my work, there is nothing left to do'."

Again, as mentioned yesterday, you can "call the non-manifested consciousness and the eventually un-manifested consciousness 'Potential Consciousness.' As Awareness, the consciousness is not-being conscious of, is not being as it 'was' temporarily when manifested; thus, the Absolute IS, but it is beyond beingness and non-beingness."

The void of the Absolute adumbrates the original void state. Among the Realized, there has always been an intimation of immortality but that intimation has nothing to do with a body-mind-personality triad.

It has everything to do with being tuned in to the original cycle that the relative existence mirrors: from nothingness to somethingness to a sense of somethingness to no sense of somethingness to a sense of the nothingness to the nothingness.

Then, the freedom of the no-identity state can manifest, whether the remainder of the relative existence unfolds by abiding as the Absolute, by understanding THAT which is beyond the beingness and the non-beingness, by identifying with the Void or the Nothingness, or by functioning even now as the nothingness...with no identity at all.

That can happen when a person "goes ahead and dies now and is done with it." Then, impersonal abidance happens, à la birds and deer and fish. What could be more freeing than that? What could be more freeing than the non-beingness and beyond - that is, than the not-being "this" and the not-being "that" - even as the beingness for now remains? Ah, the freedom of neti-neti, now.

"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.
