THERE IS NO "I LOVE YOU" IN EITHER NATURE OR IN NISARGA LIVING

An Advaita forum focusing on Realisation, enlightenment, non-duality, Real Love, peace, freedom, Your original nature, abiding naturally, the Oneness, the Nothingness, and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

F.: Can you identify any single concept that generates more emotional intoxication, more misunderstanding of what is being felt, more misunderstanding of what is driving persons, more angst, more suicide, more murder, and, yes, even more wars than the concept of "love"?

In fact, can emotional intoxication be generated by the concept of "love" to the degree that one can reach a point of insanity? Of course. Some say, "I killed her because I loved her so much that she drove me crazy." And the beginning of a "relationship" can be just as insane as the ones that end in violence.

A man who is 33 and only now in his first "relationship" with a woman said yesterday: "I am in love for the first time in my life and it's amazing. I know now why I waited so long: it's because I have finally found a woman that I could first connect with on a spiritual basis" (meaning they are both members of a 12-step group).

He said, "Just holding her hand when we walk together takes my breath away. I feel light in the head when I am with her." Indeed. And, yes, there is that suffocating aspect of what the masses take to be "love." He may well come to know that aspect far more than he could possibly anticipate at this point in his dream.

On a broader scale for a moment, consider that wars are raging around the globe right now among persons who are driven by what they call "love," whether that refers to their love of their country; to their love for revenge in the name of their countrymen; or to the love they have for their particular, personal god.

Then there is the "love" that drives persons to assume the roles that show up in the continuum of "personal relationships": strangers > friends > good friends > lovers > fiancé / fiancée > loving, wonderful spouse > spouse > a not so loving and not so wonderful spouse > enemy > mortal enemy > divorcé / divorcée > the depressed one > the recluse > the recovering one > the one looking about again > strangers > friends > good friends > ad infinitum.

Because the Nisargan can look to nature in order to understand the way that natural living happens most typically, such witnessing reveals that "love" is a concept dreamed up by humans when it is seen that "love" in nature is limited to the "love-to-be" that is the product of the manifested consciousness that would extend its continuity.

Such a drive for continuity is automatic and typical among fish and fowl and fauna, but it becomes an overwhelming desire among humans. While the "love-to-be" is there, there is no "I love you" in nature. Yes, some level of feelings can appear to happen. An incident was described in a prior post to illustrate the point:

Outside the window of the office where these writings happen, a doe dropped a stillborn fawn. She and the buck nudged the lifeless fawn, trying to encourage it to rise. They spent some time in that effort before it became obvious that this instance was not going to happen like other normal births.

They walked away, came back, nudged a few more times. They walked away a little farther, looked back as if feeling something or as if confused. Eventually, though, they left. Was there love for the stillborn fawn? No, deer know no such concepts.

Did it appear that some concerns or feelings might be happening? Maybe, but the next question is, might it be that they were just doing what happens naturally - trying to encourage a fawn to rise and walk? Could it be that when what typically happens did not happen, they left, without the kind of attachments that always entrap the non-Realized? Either way, there is no "I love you" in nature.

Similarly, among the Realized, there is no "I love you" that has any validity. That requires the duality of an "I" and a "you" - the duality of a subject and an object. "Advaita" means "not two," so "I love you" has no meaning whatsoever among the Realized.

What is understood about this subject by the Realized is this: "Love is knowing that I am everything; wisdom is knowing that I am nothing" (Maharaj). In the book that discusses the difference in the false "love" that persons speak of vs. True Love that the Realized understand, it is made clear that only the Realized are able to differentiate between the one that is false and the one that is Real. Yet even that distinction is limited to the period of relative manifestation.

Next, recall that Maharaj estimated that the number on the planet that are Realized at any given time is a small number...a four-digit number. Grasp that, then ask, "What are the chances that I - a Realized speck of consciousness that understands the difference in false "love" and Real Love - will ever cross the path of anyone who understands that difference?"

According to Maharaj, one in ten million. Is it any wonder that persons on the planet are so frustrated, searching as they are for someone to love them, for someone to make them feel whole, for someone to make them feel complete, for someone to make them feel "good"?

Add to that group the ones who are only pretending - consciously or otherwise - to be searching for love when they are really searching for caretakers, for someone to buy into their belief that they are entitled and to give them what they think they deserve, for someone to help them through their crises, for someone to support them (and their false roles), or for someone to buy into any of their other selfish agendas.

Then consider that 59% of all women in the U.S. who are murdered are murdered by a "lover" or "spouse" during a breakup and that 41% of all men are killed under the same circumstances; then consider that the same scenario is playing out on a daily basis all across the globe.

To see more examples of "love"-inspired insanity and brutality, consider that women are treated like chattel in so many cultures. Consider that women in many Islamic cultures are beaten for flashing an ankle in public. Consider that women are being stoned to death for having offended the male ego, stoned even as this post is being written.

Consider that many Christian women are being taught to be subservient to their husbands, to "love, honor and obey him." Consider the volume of insane beliefs and concepts and notions and words and actions that evolve from the warped ideas about "love" and about the way that subject-object "relationships" are supposed to happen in the opinion of non-Realized persons.

Then, see the lesson in nature: there is the "love-to-be" that accompanies the manifested consciousness. Beyond that, see the futility and the insanity of trying to "find love" and to "be loved."

What an impossible dream on a planet where the masses are trapped in self-love...in the "love" of their false selves, in the "love" that drives them to seek partners who are willing to assume and play the co-dependent counterparts that are required to sustain the illusion of all false selves.

Then, abide in the comfort of the understanding that Love is knowing that You Are everything but also in the understanding of - in the wisdom of - knowing that, really, You Are nothing.

That said, can "espousing" and "wifing" and "husbanding" and "lover-ing" still happen even in the absence of assumed personas and in the understanding of the falsity of any subject-object concept? Of course. Are the deer pairing up and enjoying sex? Oh yes. Right outside this window on occasion; however, are they BS'ing themselves that the sex they are enjoying is really not about the sex but is actually about "making love"? No.

There is no "making love." There is knowing that (1) false love is not and that (2) Real Love Is. Has any buck in the history of the planet ever tried to manipulate a doe with the line: "You would if you loved me!" No. Has any doe ever left a buck, shouting, "I don't love you any more"? No.

Has any buck, feeling as if it is dying because a doe has left him for another buck, eaten fermented berries to get high in an effort to try to ease the pain of a breakup, raced wildly and drunkenly along a path through the forest, missed a curve, run head on into a tree, and killed itself? No. Nature is not capable of generating or facilitating stupidity.

The concept of "love" among non-Realized persons has likely generated more insanity and more relative destruction than any other concept ever dreamed up by humans.

If you would avoid all of that, come to understand the difference in "love" and "Love"; then, go live naturally, enjoying in a sane and nisarga manner all of the pleasures of the relative existence while knowing it is all happening in nothing more than an "AS IF" fashion.

The Twice-Stolen Necklace Murders offers the non-duality message by way of a mystery-adventure novel, discussing the movement from pain to healing to awakening to peace.
From Dr. R.F. Maley, Ph.D, Professor Emeritus and former Head of the Department of Psychology, University of Houston: "Floyd Henderson's book, The Twice-Stolen Necklace Murders, is a fun read and an interesting mystery, but perhaps more importantly it serves as a vehicle for blending Eastern Philosophy and Native American Spirituality to make an intellectually challenging novel. The book's insights into both relationships and authoritarian conditioning of people in our society make it a must read, tracing the roots of narcissistic, sociopathic and psychopathic behaviors to the very core of the culture. This truly witty and politically-incorrect study of the aggressive nature of 'the American character' offers not only a diagnosis but also a treatment plan, making the book an excellent supplemental reading in courses such as psychology, anthropology, philosophy, sociology and counseling."

TOTAL DE-ACCUMULATION: The Joy of "Less-ness"

An Advaita forum focusing on Realisation, enlightenment, non-duality, Real Love, peace, freedom, Your original nature, abiding naturally, the Oneness, the Nothingness, and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

F.: Most seekers want whatever it is that they think awaits them at the end of the "path," so most will never continue the seeking to the actual end of the nisarga "path."

When a speck of consciousness called "a nisargan teacher" begins speaking about "less-ness" to the point of "nothingness," those seekers who are desiring "more-ness" will be repelled by what they are hearing. (Thus, the fact that the nisarga yoga is probably the least popular yoga of all.)

If their seeking has an Eastern bent, then they will seek some other teacher who is using a yoga that promises "something" (something "great," in fact) rather than staying with a teacher that is offering less (and, eventually, nothing). If the seeker happens to be among the 97% who are seeking via organized religion, they will most assuredly want more, not less.

However, if total de-accumulation happens, then it will result in mind-less-ness and identity-less-ness and concept-less-ness and belief-less-ness, all of which could lead to less stress and to less discontentment and to less chaos and to less instability.

Yet that requires that there must be less influence from the key sources of duality and misery, specifically: yogas that promise more, religions that promise more, and teaching methods that promise more.

MIND-LESS-NESS and IDENTITY-LESS-NESS
If mind-less-ness manifests, then the storehouse of (1) all dualistic beliefs and (2) all beliefs about personality and identity, will end.

Look at the chaos and instability that manifests as a result of beliefs stored in the "mind," including the belief that personas are real. Consider how much of the chaos on the planet has been rooted in the mind's constant movements regarding "relationship personas" alone:

“I love her” later becomes “I hate her” and “I love him" later becomes "I hate him” and “Yes—we promise to stay together forever" later becomes, “I can’t stand to stay with that person for even one more micro-second.”

The personas are ever-changing, too: a man in a robe can say “I pronounce that you are husband and wife” but later another man in a robe can say, “I pronounce that you are no longer husband and wife.”

A man in a robe can tell one woman, “I now pronounce that you are Mrs. James Philmore Jones” then later can tell another woman, “I now pronounce that you are Mrs. James Philmore Jones” and then he can later tell a third woman “I now pronounce that you are Mrs. James Philmore Jones” and at some later time he can tell a fourth woman, “I now pronounce that you are Mrs. James Philmore Jones.”

And in all those cases, not one woman says, “BS! You’ve said the exact same thing to all those other women, too! All of those pronouncements cannot possibly be true!” Instead, the women all replied to the man in the robe in their sleep and said, "Okay" and “Okay” and “Okay” and “Okay.”

Furthermore, if the "mind" were to end, not only would such widespread belief in personas and "relationship personas" end but also the primary source of dualistic beliefs - organized religion - could end.

BELIEF-LESS-NESS AND LESS RELIGION
The proselytizing ninety-seven percent of the planet's population who claim that they are followers of one of the many organized religions most certainly want more:

more believers, more members, more people willing to accept their dogma, more people following their religious teachings, more rewards now, more rewards later. Nothing and nothingness are anathema. Why did the Realized poet John Lennon suggest that less religion would bring a greater sense of Oneness?

Why did he invite all to "imagine there's no heaven / It's easy if you try / No hell below us / Above us only sky" and to imagine "no countries" and to imagine "nothing to kill or die for and no religion too?" [You may visit the archives to see the series on “Imagine” that was posted on this site 16 September 2006 and ff.]

Consider: if it were understood that there is no heaven nor hell, then there would be no need for religions. If there were no religions, there would be no Islamist terrorists and no Christians genocidists. There would have been no Inquisition; no "European Holocaust";

no use of the Christian concept of "Manifest Destiny" to justify "the Holocaust of the Americas" that saw the annihilation of 150,000,000 people who were living in what is now called North, Central, and South America.

There would be far less sense of separation; there would be far less manifesting of the God Complex Disorder because there would be far fewer "godly people"; and there would be an end to the motivator of most of the killing that is currently happening on the planet, namely:

duality-and-dogma-based arrogance and ego-states (and the accompanying egotism) and moralizing and judging. There would also be an end to the assumption of the now-prevalent “good personas” that generated a sense of "different from" and "better-than."

In the absence of persons who take themselves to be “good” or even “perfect” (or, as the Methodists claim, people who believe they have been “made perfect”) then all of the “bad” persons they dream up would also end.

There could not be the label that was used to define "floyd" as “A New Age Agent of Satan”; there could be no one with “right or wrong” sexual preferences and there could be no "heathens"; and there would be far fewer instances of "someone who is 'not good enough' for another.”

Is it any wonder that the sages for thousands of years have endorsed de-accumulation and less-ness as opposed to accumulation and more-ness?

Please enter the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

FROM A SITE VISITOR: Thanx for the discussion of "Self-absorption". I have been a member of [a step group] for a year and they have made me more uneasy by the day. They think they are what you would call "Spiritual Giants" and are judging me because I raise questions that show I am having doubts about the claims about what they can and cannot do for me.

They convinced me when I joined that what they have is so important to me that I will die without it, but you finally used a term that verbalized what I have been trying to put my finger on. Maybe they are less "self-absorbed" than they were before (debatable) but they are definitely "Self-absorbed". All they can talk about is how spiritual they are now and how wonderful that has made their lives (also debatable). so thank you for your site. I believe I am finding there what I have always been looking for--including me and freedom from me.

F.: Religion hooks persons by threatening eternal damnation and pain and suffering while dangling the carrot of eternal reward with dualities at the core of their message: pain vs. pleasure, hell vs. heaven, punishment vs. reward. That combination has hooked 97% of the population of the planet.

Spiritual groups, such as the one you mentioned, toss in another dualistic hook: they promise not only a "wonderful, even heavenly, life" now but use their real hook as well, namely, the threat that you are going to die without them. A doubly powerful way to not only seize you but also to detain you for the remainder of your relative existence, yes?

When cancerous growths were identified in this body, a series of actions were taken to eliminate those polyps. Once a "cancer-free" condition manifested, not a single person who contributed to bringing about that healing asked that I continue to come to the cancer ward on a daily basis;

not a one said that if I don't have surgery every day, I will die; not a one said it will help me to sit around a table and talk about my cancer for the remainder of my life; not a one threatened me with death if I did not help other cancer patients every day for the rest of my life.

There are professionals who are far better trained to offer such service, and only ego would have made "floyd" believe that because he was cancer-free that he had the solution for all others and to believe that the cure involved magical and supernatural elements that played a more important role than any of the other parts of the treatment.

[See Louise's comments in the last series regarding the woman that gave her doctors less credit for her successful surgery and credited her compact with "the Lord" as being the key.]

Many who have been programmed and conditioned to accept dogma without question speak of "the power of prayer to heal." In the book SPIRITUAL SOBRIETY, in a section entitled, "THE POWER OF PRAYER: TO KILL (PART ONE)," this is offered:

The following article appeared in a Denver newspaper:

CHARGES FOLLOW FAITH-HEALING DEATH
Denver Post, Mar. 10, 2001 GRAND JUNCTION Charges have been filed against the parents of a 13-year-old girl who died from a common infection that turned into gangrene after her parents opted to treat her with prayer but not medicine. The parents were issued summonses Friday on charges of criminally negligent homicide, reckless manslaughter, reckless child abuse resulting in death, and criminally negligent child abuse resulting in death. [The parents belong to a religious sect that] believes there is a biblical injunction against medical treatment. They treat illnesses and injuries with prayer. In the past, church elders have said that “when prayer fails to heal an illness and a child dies, it is God's will.”

On this site, reasons abound that are arguments for abandoning all personality, but another key reason that the sages have long advocated the same is because the adoption of personality is the prerequisite for the development of personality disorders (which 99%+ on the planet suffer from to varying degrees). The site visitor who wrote the e-mail above is really discussing a group whose membership is suffering from Spiritual OCD.

With that disorder, persons are driven to obsess and obsess and obsess over something; then, eventually, they will be driven to act compulsively around that obsession. Out of impulse, rather than out of intuitive logic and reason, they will blindly act.

[Recall that personality is a subconscious motivator, determining thoughts and words and actions, so persons will believe they are making choices when they are not - another form of insanity, yes?]

Each of the nine basic personality types brings with it one or more personality disorders. While any type can exhibit any of the disorders, some types are almost assured to exhibit certain specific disorders as they disintegrate psychically during their teen and adult years as all non-Realized persons do:

Ones tend to suffer from the Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder and from the Depressive Personality Disorder.

Twos tend to suffer from the Histrionic Personality Disorder and from the Factitious Personality Disorder.

Threes tend to suffer from the Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Fours tend to suffer from the Narcissistic Personality Disorder, from the Depressive Personality Disorder, and from the Avoidant Personality Disorder.

Fives tend to suffer from the Schizoid Avoidant Personality Disorder and from the Schizotypal Personality Disorder.

Sixes tend to suffer from the Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorder and from the Paranoid Personality Disorder.

Sevens tend to suffer from the Manic-Depressive (Bi-Polar) Personality Disorder and from the Histrionic Personality Disorder.

Eights tend to suffer from the Antisocial Personality Disorder and from the Sociopathic Personality Disorder.

Nines tend to suffer from the Schizoid Personality Disorder and from the Dependent Personality Disorder.

So in a few short paragraphs, some of the major effects of personality assumption can be seen:

Religious and Spiritual OCD, resulting in religious and / or spiritual workaholism that preempts any chance for one to merely enjoy the relative existence naturally; the inspiration to manipulate others to mirror the way that the self-absorbed and the Self-absorbed think and talk and behave;

a proclivity to hasten the end of the relative existence (as with the child mentioned above) by using magical, supernatural treatments when other treatments are indicated; and the assurance of developing personality disorders that bring about fear and desire and suffering and misery.

Is it any wonder that the sages for thousands of years have been inviting persons to be free of personality?

F.: Many seekers who believe that if they have discarded all of their personal identities / false selves and who believe that they have found the "True Self" also believe that they have "arrived" and completed "The Journey."

In fact, they have not completed even half of the steps on the entire "path" that must be completed, in reverse order from the way that "the coming in" happened, if the seeker is to reach the no-concept, no-identity, non-dual Reality. As Maharaj taught, you must go back as you came, in reverse order, to the source.

The following must be asked of those who claim they have found "the True Self" or "the Real Self" or "the Highest Level of Consciousness: God-consciousness" or "Oneness with Brahman":

1. Do you believe that by assuming that new identity that you have "gone all the way back to the source?"

[Most seekers who stop at the third of seven steps on the "path" after assuming a religious and / or spiritual and / or supreme identity believe exactly that, if only unconsciously.]

2. Do you believe that "at the source," prior to manifestation, your existence was marked by some sort of Self-ness?

3. Do you believe that whatever you take to be the proper definition of "Your Self" actually existed as that originally, at the source, with some sense of Self-ness?

[If you buy into #2 and #3, then Sacred Contracts is the "holy text" for you with its core, but totally nonsensical, teaching being: "I believe that each of us is guided by a Sacred Contract that our soul made before we were born."]

4. Do you believe that, post-manifestation, your relative existence will experience continuity (maybe even including continuity of body and mind and personality?) and that you will exist as some sort of noumenal Self-ness?

[If so, then the texts and teachings of one the three sky cults that evolved from Abraham - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - will be for you.]

5. If you see that consciousness is a form of energy, are you equating your original Self-ness with energy? So it is, but do you believe that the energy prior to manifestation had any degree at all of "Self-ness" or any ability to know a Self (or anything else)?

Advaita teaches that the unmanifested consciousness can be pointed to with the term "Awareness with potentiality" - awareness that is not aware of but that has the potential - if manifested - to exercise conscious-of-ness.

Thus, any consciousness of anything taken to be "a Self" is restricted to the province of the relative, and that which is restricted to the province of the relative is also relative as far as naming and labeling and identifying is concerned.

So why discuss any of this?

A. Because the abandonment of false identities is part of the process of being free of ignorance and insanity and false beliefs that generate misery and suffering during the relative existence.

B. Because discomfort and irritability can be replaced by comfort and contentment if thorn-concepts and splinter-ideas are eventually removed.

[So yes, all along the way, concepts are used to remove concepts, to remove bogus ideas about self and ego and magical beliefs and magical thinking and the duality of believing in "the erroneousness of the supernatural vs. the authenticity of the natural"; yet, in the end, as with thorns used to remove thorns, concepts are used to remove concepts and are then discarded. And that includes concepts about some pre-existence existence of a self or Self and about the post-existence existence of a self or Self.]

C. Because otherwise persons will continue to answer the question "Who / What am I?" with a litany of false identities.

D. Because the "path" must be traveled in a step-wide manner so that along the way, the false selves can be discarded and it can be seen that (a) that which is asking the question is also (b) that which knows the answer and that which can recognize "ItSelf" as something other than the body-cum-consciousness.

E. Because there are certain "mini-understandings" reached at each step that must be reached before The Understanding can be reached, but after that, even The Understanding can be discarded and replaced by The Nisarga Understanding, after which all understanding and any other sense of self-ness / Self-ness is discarded so that natural living can happen.

All is energy / matter. Neither can be created nor destroyed, so that which is eternal, forever, and infinite is energy / matter; however, energy / matter has neither the trait of self-ness nor the trait of Self-ness.

The nisarga understanding is an invitation to travel the "path," of course, but to travel it to its no-concept, no-identity, non-dual end and then relax and take it easy for the remainder of the relative existence with the Absolute understanding overlaid upon it, and, ultimately, with the understanding of Nothingness overlaid upon it.

Then, nothing needs to be understood, pondered, thought about, contemplated, deliberated, brooded over, studied, learned, or mulled over. Life will no longer be a second job. A third job involving spiritual workaholism will not be undertaken.

In the absence of ego / identity and the egotism that supports identity, preoccupation with neither self nor Self can happen. Has that been considered? Has it been seen that preoccupation with "The True Self" is egotistical, too?

Has it been seen that being "Self"-absorbed can leave one as arrogant and conceited and haughty and proud and, yes, even condescending, as being "self"-absorbed?

In the end, if the no-concept, no-identity, non-dual state is reached, then WHO is left to care about self or Self? And if one (that is, some who-ness or Who-ness) cares about Self, then is it not clear that the no-concept, no-identity, non-dual state of Reality has not been reached, all beliefs to the contrary notwithstanding?

WHO believes, or WHO cares, that he / she knows that which most do not? Not that which is abiding naturally as the no-concept, no-identity, non-dual state. Sure, find the answers to all of the questions addressed by these teachings, but in the end, be free of all that was found along the "path." To carry anything afterwards is to encumber the lightness of merely being.

In the end, for those seekers that were far along the "path," moving from "the false I" to the source in step-wide fashion, Maharaj said: "I have no form, no identity."

Here, too, I have no identity because "The Knower" dissolved along with all other personas. Both the ego-state that cared nothing about uncovering the lies of false identifications and the ego-state that cared everything about finding the Authentic Self...both have now dissolved.

Here and now, in the absence of a large or lofty or noble or grand identity, absent because all has been de-accumulated, what is happening is what some would call "living small" as opposed to those with their grand identities who think they are "living large."

In the absence of ego-states, and in the absence of the use of defense mechanisms that are intended to present mirages and images as "the real," abidance now happens spontaneously, just as with the deer.

The identity-less deer understands nothing and adopts nothing as an identifiable self; as a result, the deer can abide naturally with a prevailing sense of freedom and peace and contentment throughout the entire manifestation. Oh that persons might do so well.

Author's Paperback Books

An Advaita forum focusing on Realisation, enlightenment, non-duality, Real Love, peace, freedom, Your original nature, abiding naturally, the Oneness, the Nothingness, and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

F.: "So," some have asked, "if 'the path' leads at its end to nothing more than a no-concept, no-identity, non-dual Reality, why take the 'journey' - or why take any steps - at all?"

Of course, that question arises from ego, because the ego's agenda always involves [1] being "something" (as in, "Wow, he's really something!") or involves [2] acquiring something (or many things and / or many people for one's selfish or ego-driven agendas).

The Direct Path, nisarga yoga's invitation to de-accumulate all beliefs about self-ness and Self-ness and "something-ness" (until nothing remains of any formerly-assumed identities) is anathema to the ego.

Yet it is the undertaking of any Realized speck of conscious-energy (which some might call "teacher") to begin stripping away belief in the imaginary outer layers that obscure the consciousness from seeing the Self that lies at the core of the body-cum-consciousness. Why?

Those layers accumulate - in the region between the ears - and form the big jumbled mess that results when the full force of a culture's might has been exerted and has taken its toll after the poisons of programming and conditioning and acculturation and domestication have been injected into persons.

Once the poisons settle in a particular part of the brain, the mass of toxins take on the form of ideas and concepts and beliefs and block the consciousness from seeing ItSelf.

If the Self is not seen - that is, understood - at least for a brief period, then misunderstandings will continue and will mar the relative existence for its entirety. It is for that reason that the Self is to be seen - is to be allowed to see ItSelf - so that all misunderstandings can dissolve and so the understanding can manifest.

With the manifestation of the understanding - including the understanding of the functioning of the totality - then all misunderstandings about the body will end, all misunderstandings rooted in "the mind" shall end, and all of the misunderstandings regarding identity and personality shall end.

With the end of personality, the frustration of unmet desires shall end and so shall the imaginary but seemingly real fears that come with all personality; furthermore, with the end of belief in personality, agendas end, dissolving all of the debilitating subconscious drivers that control the thoughts and words and actions that lead to misery and suffering and pain during the relative.

The step-wise process offered via the Direct Path Method of teaching allows seekers to see that (a) everything that they thought they knew and that they were so sure about ... is false; and to see that (b) everything that they had not so much as even glimpsed before ... is true.

Imagine a person having a horrible go at the relative existence, unable to provide food or clothing or shelter, living on the streets or in a cardboard box. Try to imagine how miserable that persons would be. Then, imagine that the person hears about a company that has an opening for a new employee.

Imagine that the person must take a True-False test and pass that exam with a certain score in order to begin earning the income that could allow for the basic needs of the body to be meet. Imagine the less-complicated and more enjoyable life that could come with the income that is available to the one who can prove that he / she understands the difference in statements that are true and statements that are false on the test.

Once the person takes the True-False test and shows that she / he understands what is false and what is true, the test ends, the employment begins, the relative existence that follows becomes less complicated, and the pleasures of life - relatively speaking - are increased many fold.

Yet consider: after the process of having seen all that is false and all that is true, is there any desire to look back constantly at the test? Is there any continued focusing upon the test? Do persons after passing the test spend hours and hours a day embroiled in the test and its false components and its true components? Do they go back to studying for the test for the remainder of the existence, or do they go about enjoying the more pleasant relative existence?

(See the type 5 personality "The Knower," "The Knowledgeable One," or the type 1 "Perfectionist" with the desire to say constantly, "I know ... I get it .... I understand" to find two examples of the types that are driven by personality / personas to fixate forever on the understanding gained rather than simply enjoying the results.)

Of course the sane and sound one that passed the test moves on and enjoys the existence, period. If those seeking the simplified existence that can come by passing the test are not able to differentiate between all that is true and all that is false, might they seek out a teacher that understands the differences and that is willing to offer instruction?

That happens. Yet the teacher does not spend a day, much less a lifetime of 24-7 days, preoccupied with the content of the test or with preparing others to take the examination. A few minutes in the morning, or a few hours at an Advaita retreat, or a few hours in telephone conferences or teaching a brief course might be offered, yes, but there is no 24-7 activity involving the test and the statements on the test that are true as opposed to the ones that are false.

Neither the teacher that explains the difference in what is true and what is false nor the seeker that needed to understand those differences for a brief period of time remains absorbed in those past understandings that now allow for a relative existence to happen spontaneously and in a manner that is less marred by misery and suffering.

The one employed does not cling to the identity of "The Passer of the Test" or "The One Who Knew More Than All Others" or any other identity associated with the test and the knowing that was revealed.

Both the test coach and the taker of the test just move right along, spontaneously enjoying the sweetness of a relative existence, not preoccupied with something known in the past but relishing instead a more simplified existence because there is no longer a need to focus on what is false and what is true. Now, the simple pleasures that came after - and by way of - the understanding of false vs. true are simply enjoyed.

Consider that your weekends have been occupied with so many tasks that had to be completed that you had no freedom at all; then, imagine that all of the tasks are done and then someone asks, "What do you have to do this weekend?" Consider how much more delightful the relative existence will be when the answer is, "Nothing." "Well who do you have to deal with this weekend?" "Nobody."

"Nothing" as opposed to "Many things." "Nobody" as opposed to "Many." For the Realized Nisargan, the answer to every question is just that: "Nothing" or "Nobody" (no body). Ahhh...what freedom. Ahhh...what peace. Ahhh...what a joyful existence.

When Maharaj witnessed the body suffering so dreadfully during those final months prior to mahasamadhi, do you now see how it was that he accepted the "no body" alternative so graciously? And do you see how decades of identifying with "nobody" and "no body" allowed such spontaneous acceptance at the end?

It was an understanding that had already been accepted long before. It was not new. It allowed for a relative existence in which death was not sought, in which death was not run from, in which death was not feared. Once it is understood that no birth occurred, how could there be any belief at all in the concept of "death'?

That is the case here. What was accepted long ago need not be revisited now. The body will be treated naturally, ill or well, and all estimates about how long the body can last - or should last - are ignored. As long as the body-cum-consciousness allows for bliss, it shall be welcomed. If any condition to the contrary manifests, that shall be welcomed as well.

It is what those in Grandmother's Cherokee tribe referred to as the "The Great Whatever": "It's hot Grandmother." "Whatever." "It's cold Grandmother." "Whatever." "You are very healthy for your age, Grandmother." "Whatever." "You are jaundiced, Grandmother. Your liver is no longer functioning properly and the end is near." "Whatever."

And the religious man who was called by the family to come might have asked, "Do you want to take a few moments now to give some additional thought to what is true and what is false about an afterlife, Grandmother?"

And Grandmother would most assuredly have replied: "I have no means by which a thought can be given, and the distinction between what is true and what is false was understood long ago and need not be revisited now." No thought of self? No. No thought of Self? No. No thought of an "Eternal Self" or "Supreme Self" or "Infinite Self" or "Forever-Lasting True Self"? No. Total freedom? Yes. Total peace. Yes. Bring it on.

SIX WAYS THAT SEEKERS HAVE REALIZED:
1. BY WATCHING the 4-Disk Video (DVD) Set, or the same retreat available as a downloadable file. Either will provide an entire seven-hour retreat / series of satsang sessions showing three seekers being guided through all seven steps by Floyd and can provide viewers with an “experiential,” step-by-step series of satsang meetings that will move the viewers from identification with the I to abidance as the Absolute and then to abidance as That Which Is beyond
Some seekers are already using the computer file version and the DVD sets for meetings in groups in homes, playing the retreat, pausing for discussion, etc.

Five Free eBooks

Compliments of Andy Gugar, Jr.,
the following eBooks are available without charge for you or for friends:

I.
"GOOD vs. EVIL?" or "IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY, and INSANITY?"

The content of this eBook deals with one of the most common but erroneous beliefs that the non-Realized masses cling to and which they will fight about (and even kill over), namely, that there is a planet-wide duel going on between “the forces of good and evil” in the universe.

Either (1) the ancient view is spot on: that the "ills of the planet" are rooted in evil people, in people not being religious enough or spiritual enough, and are caused solely by bad morality; or, (2) the "ills of the planet" are rooted in ignorance, stupidity and insanity and "being good" or "being moral" does not put an end to ignorance, does not eliminate stupidity, and does not treat insanity in any way.

II.
"THE VISION"

Comments regarding the free eBook entitled “THE VISION”:

“My thanks to you and Andy.” – Andrew “Mac” McMaster

“Thanks so much for the book! And, by the way, it is brilliant and the most effective pointing that you have done. It has served to help clear the remaining blockages.” – Stan Cross

“Greatly appreciate having “THE VISION” added to my Henderson resource library that is situated on the right side of my bed for easy access! Eternally grateful for what was received and what was given.” – Robert Rigby

“‘THE VISION’ is such a well-written, condensed version of the Nisarga Yoga approach to understanding and enjoying Reality that I feel it can serve as a must-read ‘meditation guide’ for all earnest seekers.” – Andy Gugar, Jr.

III.
"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

There is much that a non-dualist or Advaitin or Nisargan can relate to by comparing and contrasting what Sapolsky reveals about the way certain troops of baboons live in Africa with the way that humans abide all around the globe.

This 152-page eBook catalogues the common, non-dual message shared by Sapolsky and Maharaj and reveals the ways that Sapolsky’s scientific research supports the non-dual pointers offered by Maharaj.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.

This 337-page eBook discusses those issues in detail.
