THE PRIMAL, AND SUPREME, DESIRE (Part Two, The Conclusion)

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

Furthermore, for those who have developed a preference for any non-nisargan yoga or who prefer Traditional Advaita Vedanta, Neo-Advaita, Neo-Vedanta, or Pseudo Advaita: here you will only find the use of the Direct Path Method of teaching along with the Nisarga (Natural) Yoga.

Also, you will find here very few of the teachings offered by Maharaj in his earlier talks and far more of the message that he offered in his ultimate talks. Why? During his last years, he said of I AM THAT: "That book and whatever was expounded at that time was only relevant for that period. I am speaking differently today" and am "emphasizing different aspects." His final understanding, which was completely different from what he offered early on, is the basis of pointers here. Maharaj made clear at the end that the pointers in I AM THAT will take you to the midpoint of "the race"; only the pointers in his final talks point the way to "the finish line."

F.: A consideration was offered at the end of yesterday's post which dealt with the desire for continuity of the consciousness and the desire for continuity of certain roles assumed in consciousness as identities. The point was made that, if persons do not transcend their infatuation with the consciousness and false identities, then:

Never will abidance as the original state be enjoyed; never will the Absolute Peace of abiding as the Absolute Awareness with no-aware-of-ness happen; and never will the Absolute freedom and stillness and peace of the Nothingness ever even be considered.

And all of that is the case because a call from an unwanted caller is enthusiastically accepted; because an unwanted solicitor is welcomed with open arms; because sickness is clung to as the medicine that could bring the cure is refused.

In the U.S., there is a federal "No-Call List" that allows persons to register their telephone numbers so that they will not receive unwanted sales calls, especially during the dinner hour. (Effective? About as much as any government project). But millions are on the list, indicating just how widespread the desire is to block unsolicited calls.

Some also have "No Soliciting" signs on their property, making clear just how unwelcome solicitors are. So who is that caller - that solicitor - who is welcomed by billions around the globe when the otherwise universal tendency is to reject that which was now asked for ... not requested? It is, of course, the consciousness.

Maharaj: " ... this consciousness is an uncalled-for concept"

and

"This love to be, this consciousness" was "unsolicited" and is "the source of illusion."

He said: "All consciousness is limited and therefore painful. At the root of consciousness lies desire, the urge to experience."

[NOTE: Such pointers as those above, offered during his later talks, differ from his talks about consciousness in I AM THAT. Of over 500 references to consciousness in that book, the talk at times sounded somewhat respectful of, or at least neutral about, consciousness. Only later did he begin to point out consistently what a burden consciousness is, as he did on one rare instance in I AM THAT when he came right out and declared what would later be his main point about the consciousness]:

Questioner: "What is your objection to consciousness?"

Maharaj: "It is a burden. Body means burden. Sensations, desires, thoughts - these are all burdens. All consciousness is of conflict."

Furthermore, why has it been accepted and welcomed when it was never even invited? Simply because one aspect of the manifested consciousness is the desire to cling to it, to extend it for a longer relative period, and to desire that it and the body-mind-personality triad might remain intact "forever."

But "conflict"? Yes. All duality is in consciousness and is the product of consciousness. The "A" vs. "B" mentality, all competitiveness, all rivalry, all struggling, all disagreements, all fighting, and all wars are products of the consciousness.

With the unsolicited consciousness soon comes a "mind" and with a "mind" soon comes personality. With personality comes fear and desire, so at that point, the primal desire for continuity - and for continuous beingness and bliss - is joined by a hosts of desires that are rooted in a host of personas that are adopted as real identities.

Because consciousness is a form of energy, then the desire for consciousness and the respect for consciousness and even the adoration of consciousness can be rejected as easily as one rejects the notion that it might be wise to connect with the energy on the other side of the wall plate covering the electrical plug in the kitchen.

Who that is not insane would consider it wise to insert a metal object into an electrical outlet in order to try to connect with the energy behind the wall plate that is thought to be special and desirable? No one. Why, then, this notion that the conscious-energy is so special and desirable that it is to be respected and adored, that it is to attached to?

All in the relative - in consciousness - is in constant flux. Do you want to hitch your wagon to the flux ... or to that which is stable? That which is stable is beyond the consciousness.

Such stability can only happen when persons Realize, when they transition beyond identification with the body and mind and personality and consciousness, and when they abide as their original nature. The near-insurmountable obstacle?

The fact that identification with the consciousness is primal, and the fact that the supreme desire among persons is for that consciousness to attain eternal continuity. The medicine that can provide the cure and remove the attachment? The Ultimate Medicine.

"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

There is much that a non-dualist or Advaitin or Nisargan can relate to by comparing and contrasting what Sapolsky reveals about the way certain troops of baboons live in Africa with the way that humans abide all around the globe.

This 152-page eBook catalogues the common, non-dual message shared by Sapolsky and Maharaj and reveals the ways that Sapolsky’s scientific research supports the non-dual pointers offered by Maharaj.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.
