TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Following eye surgery, clear focusing has not returned and eye strain results from anything other than a brief exposure to a computer screen; moreover, two follow up procedures must be arranged to "fine tune" the effects of the surgery; hence, the postings will be brief for awhile.

2. [See the offer following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]

3. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "God," the "Son of God," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the end of the post for the full meaning and implications of that.

4. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group."

A site visitor said: "Everyone is fanatical about something - Maharaj was fanatical about non-duality - you're fanatical about non-duality."

If one observes the prerequisites discussed yesterday which are required for fanaticism to manifest, it should be clear to the wise that the issue which humankind needs to address is not fanaticism but involves all of the causes of fanaticism.

There is not a single seeker who has ever heard me advise, "You need to stop being fanatical" or "You need to get treated for your fanaticism." There are many, on the other hand, who have heard me advise them to consider the possibility that they are being driven by an obsessive mind (and by the Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder) and that they might consider seeking treatment for those since they are resulting in fanatical thinking and talking and behaving."

That was the hidden message - presented succinctly in ten words - from the Cherokee sage I visited in Santa Fe (the details of which regular visitors to the site are familiar with). His words to me, after I explained all I had done and all I intended to so in the future, were "Well then. You're going to be a very busy boy."

First, as for Maharaj:

During his "Forest Dweller Stage" and his "Seeking Stage," the presence of an obsessive personality was obvious. He tried to pass on the non-dual understanding to one and all, whether they had invited him to do so or not.

Later, as he cast aside some of the final personal identifications - including "The Super Religious" identity and "The Spiritual Giant " identity and the "Super Seeker" identity - he exhibited less and less obsessiveness.

He conducted a morning session in the loft, then often went for a ride in the countryside with a friend who owned a car; he sat on the banks of the various creeks and rivers in Bombay / Mumbai and observed nature at play; in the afternoon, he opened the loft again to visitors and then spent the remainder of the day sharing meals with friends or enjoying the quiet.

The obsessiveness became less and less prevalent. In the end, it disappeared.

The same pattern had unfolded here.

It was 43 years ago in 1975 that a professional said to me, "You might consider the possibility that they are being driven by an obsessive mind and that you need to be treated for the Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder because it's resulting in your behaving fanatically." He said it, but I could not hear it. Why? For one, because he wanted to prescribe synthetic lithium, and after I researched the side effects of that drug, I ignored everything else he said as well.

It was 29 years ago that another man said to me words that were similar: "You might consider the possibility that they are being driven by an obsessive mind and that you need to be treated for the Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder because it's resulting in your behaving fanatically." He said it, but I could not hear it. Why? Because he told me that "being close to God would eliminate the Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder," but I saw that he and his mates who were supposedly close to God were some of the most obsessive people on the planet.

Then a woman diagnosed the same problem which the two men had seen earlier, but when she mentioned a short-term use of lithium, I rejected her advice and told her why, cataloguing all of the negative effect of synthetic lithium. Her reply: "I agree, that's why I've never prescribed that. Instead, my clients understand what Spinoza said, that there is not a body and a mind but that there is a body-mind and that imbalances and deficiencies in the makeup of the body and its chemistry can affect how the mind functions and how persons feel and behave." (Maharaj said the same.)

She said, "OCD is as much an issue regarding body imbalances and deficiencies as it is a mind issue, so my clients address that issue with an all-natural food supplement . . . a non-synthetic, all natural form of lithium. You could try it for ninety days and if you don't see and feel the level of freedom which my other clients have found, it's non-addictive so you can stop. Meanwhile, there are also other understandings regarding the mind and personality disorders which you can seek which can provide a deeper understanding of what is happening with your mind and body and how to bring about increased healing."

I tried it and the results have been a permanent state of freedom from the mind and freedom from the ravages of personality identification as well. It was a missing piece. Grandmother's words came back; Maharaj's pointers became clear; the points behind the non-dual messages offered by Yeshu'a were understood. Between the use of natural supplements and a deeper understanding of the causes of obsessive thinking and talking and behavior, all of that stopped. True peace started.

Nowadays, when able, I spend a brief time posting certain pointers on a blog site. After that, non-duality is not considered again for 24 hours even as non-dual, nisargan, natural abidance happens during those hours.

Occasionally, a friend and I might discuss the role which the non-dual understanding plays in the dancing lightly which we enjoy and the dancing lightly which we see others enjoying if they have attained the understanding.

Nowadays, the non-dual understanding determines the way that every aspect of the relative existence happens, but all happens without thinking or considering non-duality. Mind-free and personality-free abidance simply happens spontaneously and automatically.

Moreover, I do not discuss non-duality with my daughter (except in some cases where she seeks advice and what is offered might be steeped in the non-dual understanding without non-duality per se being discussed). I do not discuss non-duality with other relatives. I do not discuss non-duality with neighbors.

The same was the case with Maharaj.

The rear wall of his flat and loft was attached to the rear wall of the building on the street behind him which happened for a time to house a brothel. No one in that establishment - where women (trapped in body identification) worked and where men (driven by body identification) paid for their services - had the slightest clue about the non-dual-related activities being conducted on the other side of the back wall of their building.

Maharaj did not go about the neighborhood trying to pass on the understanding to those who did not invite him to do so. He abided spontaneously and offered the non-dual understanding for limited periods during the day and only to those who came to find it. The rest of his day was not pre-occupied with non-duality except to the degree that the understanding determined - spontaneously - whatever happened throughout his day.

It matters not what "Maharaj" had early on. It matter not what "Floyd" had early on. It matters not what you had early on, though it can certainly matter - relatively speaking - what you have now.

What matters now is what persons no longer have - what they no longer believe - what they have cast aside - what they are now free of - not what they have learned but what they have unlearned - not what they were taught but what they have been un-taught - and not what was driving them before but what is no longer driving them at all.

And even that can matter only now, during the AM-ness, during this Beingness stage, not later during the THAT-ness stage which is beyond both the Beingness and the Non-Beingness as well.

To be continued.

Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "God," the "Son of God," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns.

THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of God in the past was of a weak God, an absentee God, A Santa Claus-type God, a mean, punishing, vindictive God, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring God whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a God that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring God,' any supposed God that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'God' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic god / goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'God' and focus on the 'God as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

THE PREREQUISITES FOR FANATICISM TO MANIFEST

1. Extremist beliefs involving religion, spiritual movements, ideologies, philosophies or other cults or political movements.

2. Dual-mindedness: Yeshu'a (Jesus) warned, "A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways."

3. A desire for power / a Power / Powers.

4. Beliefs about being holy or otherwise different from others and better than others; that is, being dominated by arrogance and conceit and egotism and a sense of superiority.

5. Judgmentalism, anger, resentment, and a false sense of victimization.

6. Addiction: to both control and to the power required to exercise it.

7. Mental and emotional illness as a result of having a full-blown case of the Ultimate Sickness.

8. Being driven by the key symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness (which Maharaj identified as "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity").

9. Blind faith.

10. Unquestioning acceptance of all which has been taught via "ignorant, stupid, and insane" programming and conditioning and domestication and acculturation and brainwashing and indoctrination.

11. An attachment to absolutes, including . . .

. . . a rigid sense of what is absolutely "right" and absolutely "wrong";

. . . an unyielding sense of what is "sinful" and what is "virtuous"; and

. . . a belief that "good" and "evil" both exist, that everything and everyone is either all one or all the other, and that one can know unerringly exactly who and what is "good" and exactly who and what is "evil."

11. A belief in one's assigned or assumed personality identifications and an unconscious willingness to allow all of their accompanying personality disorders to drive one's thoughts and words and actions.

12. Being dogmatic.

13.An absence of critical analysis skills and a refusal to even consider facts which challenge one's nonfactual beliefs.

14. A belief in one's assigned or assumed personality identifications and an unconsciousness willing to allow all of their accompanying personality disorders to drive one's thoughts and words and actions.

As an example of the latter, considered what Christine Hammond, MS, LMHC observed and reported in her article entitled, "The Three Personality Disorders Prevalent in Religious Environments":

If only churches, synagogues, and mosques were safe places for people to learn about God and grow spiritually. But sadly, many are not. Rather, they can become safe places for three of the most intense personality disorders. Regardless of the religious belief system that a person subscribes to, these three disorders can be found within the leadership structure of many religious organizations.

Why? Because followers of the organization come with an honest desire to grow spiritually, fellowship with other like believers, and worship God. They are not suspecting to be taken advantage of, lied to, manipulated, and coerced. They expect this behavior outside of the religious institute not inside it.

Here are the three personality disorders prevalent in religious institutions and how to identify them:

A. Anti-Social Personality Disorder (Sociopath / Psychopath). This is the most dangerous of the bunch because Anti-Social Personality Disorder (ASPD) is the most difficult to identify and the most treacherous. ASPDs frequently wear a variety of masks and have the ability to be chameleon like in nature. This allows them to make commitments (which they have no intention of carrying out) while actually doing the opposite. Their ability to deceive is so excellent that even when caught, they are able to talk their way out of anything. The best evidence of an ASPD is the wake of destroyed relationships in their past. If they will stab one person in the back, they will do it to another without any remorse. The danger in confronting ASPDs is that they are highly revengeful and will stop at nothing until a person is completely destroyed. This personality can be violent when provoked.

B. Narcissistic Personality Disorder. A person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) loves to be the center of attention. Religious environments provide a great place for NPDs to be treated superior whether or not they deserve it. Many times they will appear to listen to the advice of others, but their actions do not reinforce it. NPDs believe they have a special relationship with God and therefore should be in complete control. Often, they will degrade, discount, or dismiss those who are not entirely loyal to them. It is easy to pick out the NPD because they are the most charming of the disorders with an unusual ability to appear harmless, caring, and generous. But at the heart of a NPD is a deeply insecure person who will stop at nothing to protect their image and fend off any embarrassment. NPDs can be confronted but only in very small doses and surrounded by excessive praise.

C. Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. In religious circles, OCPDs are very legalistic about the rules and order to the point that they miss the real meaning behind worship. Ironically, OCPDs claim they are not dogmatic but their actions and treatment of those living outside of the rules proves otherwise. There is no compromise with OCPDs, everything is either black or white and they are the principle determining factor as to who falls into which category. By appearance, OCPDs are easily recognizable as they always look very put together and are impeccably groomed. Confronting them can be very successful if it is presented as a better and more efficient way. But be prepared to have a long exhausting analytical discussion.

Having an understanding of these personality disorders and how they thrive in religious environments helps to prevent becoming entangled with them.

So, add to our list:

15. Being deceptive.

16. Being dangerous.

17. Being willing to "break relationships" without remorse; having no empathy.

18. A propensity for violence (which can manifest in many ways and to varying degrees but which more often than not manifest in higher and higher degrees of aggression or hostility).

19. A preoccupation with image and fame or notoriety, often trying to exert oneself into a "lead role" in a movement, a demonstration, a rally, a campaign, a protest, a riot, etc.

20. Being unmovingly fixed..

On the whole, all of the prerequisites result when one is driven by the symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness, after which fanaticism will manifest and dominate.

Yesterday:

Fanaticism can often manifest around attachments involving sports, athletes, musicians, actors, etc.; around anything which persons become addicted to; around politics; and around religions and spiritual movements and ideologies and philosophies.

Yeshu'a (Jesus) warned persons about that when he said, "A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways," so when fanaticism manifests, it brings with it duality; dual-mindedness; a tendency to be frenzied; a propensity for ragingly and being furious; attach to places dedicated to attaining power / a Power / Powers which reinforce personas preoccupied with being holy; and, since holy means "different," a propensity to believe that one is different-from-others and better-than-others.

More accurately, when there is a belief in dualities and when there is dual-mindedness, then fanaticism comes. And when fanaticism comes, it is accompanied by a tendency among humans to be frenzied; a propensity for ragingly and being furious; an attachment to places dedicated to attaining power / a Power / Powers which reinforce personas preoccupied with being holy; and, since holy means "different," a propensity to believe that one is different-from-others and better-than-others.

Consider the message revealed via some of the pictures taken during the "Unite the Right Rally" which occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia from August 11th to the 12th, 2017 when protestors who were members of the far-right, white supremacist groups, the alt-right, neo-Confederates, members of the KKK, neo-Nazis, and militias gathered to protest the removal of statues honoring Confederate soldiers who started a war against the U.S. Government - nearly 160 years ago - in an effort to preserve the institution of slavery.

One-hundred and sixty years ago? Yes. That's a long time to be in a frenzied state, but that has been the case, especially in many of the southern states in the U.S. whose ancestors lost the war and lost their supply of near-free labor; that's also a long time to rage and a long time to be furious

and a long time to hold onto the hatred of the government which ended the private sale and ownership of humans; that's also a long time to carry a grudge and a long time to carry around and fly and otherwise display the flag of the Southern, Confederate states that lost that war.

So an accurate explanation of the fanaticism / duality phenomenon is this:

First comes duality and belief systems based in dualistic beliefs; then only comes fanaticism and the chaos and hatred and fighting and anger and rage which manifests alongside fanaticism.

Then comes such acts as driving one's car into a crowd of counter-protestors and killing one and injuring scores,

attacking or killing those who reject the duality-based beliefs of the members of such groups as the far-right, as white supremacists, as the alt-right, as neo-Confederates, as members of the KKK, as neo-Nazis, and as the members of militias who also hate persons who have brown skin; who have black skin; who are not Christians; or who support the government's having brought an end to slavery.

What comes first among frenzied and raging and hate-filled persons is the duality-based belief that one is different from "the other" and therefore better than "those people," and when such duality-based egotism manifests, then of course chaos will come; of course fighting will come, of course killing will comes; and of course raging about a war that ended slavery nearly 160 years ago can come and continue.

That same duality-based arrogance and hatred and rage led to a civil war in the U.S. in which 620,000 people killed each other, and 160 years later, there remain large segments of the U.S. population who are longing for another civil war in which "the South will overthrown the federal government"; in which "the South will rise again"; and in which the new Southern leaders will use the Old Testament as a Constitution, providing the laws which will govern the people of the new nation, including:

killing those of  religions which are not the one approved by the state;

stoning to death those whose sexual preference is different from the majority;

persecuting and / or killing those who do not believe that there is a non-human Being in another world who is controlling everything in this world;

putting on trial those who fail to follow the laws of the church (which will run the theocratic government);

killing those who want liberty rather than accepting the bondage imposed by religious or spiritual leaders;

killing those who do not believe in supposedly supernatural causes of what are actually natural events;

persecuting women who do not submit themselves to the rule of their husbands;

etc., etc., etc.

So here is the recipe for disaster which humankind has been mixing up and serving for thousands of years:

Take one part duality-based beliefs; add the preference for separation which that brings (including "America First" and "Down with blacks and browns and yellows" and "White Supremacy forever," etc.); allow that to steep for a while until fanaticism is thoroughly brewed; allow that fanaticism to strengthen; and then kiss peace goodbye.

So it is in the world of duality and personality identifications and fanaticism.

TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Following eye surgery, two additional procedures must now be arranged in order to "fine tune" the effects of the surgery; hence, the postings will be brief for awhile.

It might be argued that

(1) fanaticism has long been the root of much of the chaos among persons on planet earth and that

(2) the roots of fanaticism involve:

(a) personality identification;

(b) the personality disorders which come with the adoption of personality identifications;

and

(c) that which is passed along via the prevalent ignorance-and-insanity-based programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing and indoctrination which children are exposed to early on and which adults continue to be exposed to throughout their manifestation, including the addictive thinking which is prevalent in all non-realized humans.

From early on, humans are programmed, conditioned, etc. to develop the Addictive Personality Disorder with its initial forms, namely, the primary addiction to control and the secondary addiction to power / Power in order to be able to control.

Those two addictions explain why 97% claim to be affiliated with one religion or another and why millions more claim to be "spiritual, not religious," yet both are motivated by the agenda which they share in common, specifically . . .

their quest to be in contact with a Power or with Powers which will allow them to control what they want to control, including weather, relationships, the ability to extend the length of their own manifestation and that of those they are dependent upon, how they feel, ad infinitum

And in all cases, fanaticism involves that which the sages for ages have warned persons about, namely, personality identification and the disorders which come when persons see personalities as real rather than as false identities, ego-states, roles, etc.

Those disorders include the Fanaticism Personality Disorder / the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, the Antisocial Personality Disorder, the Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and many others.

Kalmer Marimaa in "THE MANY FACES OF FANATICISM" explains the roots of the words associated with fanaticism thusly:

"The terms 'fanaticism' and 'fanatic' come from the Latin adverb fanatice (frenziedly, ragingly) and the adjective fanaticus (enthusiastic, ecstatic, raging, fanatical, furious). The adjective is based on the noun fanum (place dedicated to a deity, holy place, sanctuary, temple). We also find some similarity to those terms in the verb fano (devote). Combining together the noun fanum and the adjective fanaticus, the term 'fanatic' can be understood as a temple devotee who is orgiastic, inspired, frantic or frenzied."

"Webster’s dictionary describes a fanatic as 'a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics'."

"Psychologist Tõnu Lehtsaar has defined the term fanaticism as 'The pursuit or defence of something in an extreme and passionate way that goes beyond normality. Religious fanaticism is defined by blind faith, the persecution of dissents and the absence of reality'.”

"Devoted supporters of a sport, athlete, sport club, game, musician, band, actor, or other similar attraction are usually called 'fans.' A fan might be loyal and devoted without having a fanatical attitude, but the inclination towards fanaticism is often found among fans."

"H. J. Perkinson sees fanatics as dogmatic people whose theories, ideology and proposed solutions are absolutely right in their own eyes. At the same time, fanatics avoid critical thinking when they ignore or are not able to see those arguments, facts, or consequences that refute their solutions."

Thus fanaticism often can manifest around attachments involving sports, athletes, musicians, actors, etc.; around anything which persons become addicted to; around politics; and around religions and spiritual movements and ideologies and philosophies.

Yeshu'a (Jesus) warned persons about when he said, "A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways," so when fanaticism manifests, it brings with it duality; dual-mindedness; an inability to analyze critically; a tendency to be frenzied; a propensity for ragingly and being furious;

an  attachment to places dedicated to attaining power / a Power / Powers and which reinforce personas preoccupied with being holy; and, since holy means "different," a propensity to believe that one is different-from-others and therefore better-than-others.

More on that to come.

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

and

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

FINDING WHO YOU ARE NOT RATHER THAN WHO YOU ARE:
Setting Aside Not Only the Phony "Bad" Identifications
But Also
the Phony "Good" and "Highest" and "Supreme" Identifications As Well

In conclusion:

Maharaj said that, "Someday, science shall advance to the point that it will prove the truth of the non-dual teachings.” Remember, too, that a review of the transitions he underwent show that he was also a scientist of sorts, experimenting with various forms of the Ultimate Medicine, witnessing objectively, setting aside what he saw was not working effectively, and trying another method which might work.

Early on, his family exposed him to only a light dose of Hinduism (they were even meat-eaters, God forbid, I mean, gods and goddesses forbid); therefore, he was not as attached to religion as many in India were. That and his Personality Type Four’s propensity for rebellion and tendency to march to beat of a different drummer may have set the stage for his openness to the non-dual message.

Yet his guru ordered that he was to use a religion / non-dual compound version of the Ultimate Medicine. Turns out that the earliest visitors to the loft were “guinea pigs” in his religious / non-dual laboratory.

He would eventually set that combination aside and try a spiritual / non-dual compound version of the Ultimate Medicine with a heavy dose of Self-Inquiry as well.

The results of any of those versions of the Medicine, obviously, did not impress him.

Thereafter he began to focus almost entirely on the psychological roots of the Ultimate Sickness. Early on, in talks transcribed in the book I AM THAT, he spoke of the use of the mind to move beyond the mind. Eventually, he made clear that the mind must go entirely by reaching a state of “zero concepts.” Later, he even stopped offering those mind-related pointers and, in fact, told seekers to “stop reading I AM THAT altogether and to listen to my current (later) talks.”

What had he witnessed that eventually led him to set aside the use of any degree of religion or spirituality or Self-Inquiry and to focus on the mental aspects of the Sickness? He came to understand that the use of religion and spiritual and Self-Inquiry methods do not end all identification but only inspire the adoption of supposedly "new and improved" and “really good” and “better” and even “the best” identities / Identify.

See? It always comes back not to having too little dogma; not to having a spiritual malady or sick spirit; and not to a failure to know the "Supreme Self" or to believe that You Are God. It always comes back to the debilitating condition which the handicapping "conjoined twins" of mind and personality lead to.

Consider how personality drives persons to become attached to religion and / or to transition into spirituality when they feel that their spirituality makes them different from and better than those who are religious only.

The results of research conducted by Steven Reiss, a professor of psychology and psychiatry at Ohio State University, revealed sixteen basic human psychological (perceived) needs which motivate people to seek meaning or answers through religion and to become attached to their religion or spirituality.

He found that “people are not drawn to religion just because of a fear of death or any other single reason. He said that each of the sixteen basic desires outlined in his book influence the psychological appeal of religious behavior. The desires his research uncovered include . . .

power

independence

 curiosity

acceptance

order

saving

honor

idealism

social contact

family

status

vengeance

romance

eating

physical exercise

and

tranquility.

Reiss found that the religious people in the study all expressed a strong desire for interdependence. (Related to that, other studies have also found a strong desire for dependency and co-dependency.) Those who were not religious, however, showed a stronger sense of self-reliance and independence.

Yesterday, the invitation was to seek truth and awareness by understanding which specific ego-states are driving thoughts and words and actions which, in turn, cause persons to cling to their belief in mirages, to “Powers” or “A Power,” and to dogma and spiritual exercises and Self-Inquiry.

Those WHO’s are the personalities / personas which rob persons of the ability to choose and which set them up to be driven blindly by their subconscious influencers and controllers which were set in place by programming and conditioning and domestication and acculturation and indoctrination and brainwashing.

Are you aware enough of the nine basic personality types (the nine basic WHO’s), and are you aware enough of the hidden agendas of those nine types (nine types by the way which you, and all persons, exhibit to one degree or another) in order to be able to understand that those WHO's are driving every thought that is thought and every word that is spoken and every action that is taken?

Those sixteen needs which drive almost all persons (97% on the planet) to remain unquestioningly loyal to one religion or another (which almost always they did not choose but which their parents imposed upon them) do not all manifest equally in every person. They especially manifest differently in persons according to the agendas of the specific personalities which have a higher-than-usual-influence (the degrees of which can be measured exactly by the personality inventory used here).

Therefore, the desires of specific personality types align with the various desires which hook people to religion or which inspire some to advance into the supposedly “higher levels of consciousness” which they think they can attain (or have attained) via spirituality. So what are the sixteen controlling factors?

Power is especially desired by Personality Type Eight Controllers / Bosses.

Independence is especially desired by Personality Type Four Rebels.

Curiosity is especially desired by Personality Type Five Knowledge-Gatherers / Knowers who want to know it all (as well as by Type One Perfectionists who love to know it all in order to reform other and make others over in their own image. See ISIS; see Catholics and Jehovah Witnesses and members of many sects and religions who claim that they are "the only ones who will go to heaven"; etc.)

Acceptance is especially valued by Personality Type Twos who want to be loved by many.

Order is especially desired by Personality Type One Perfectionists (who are especially anal-retentive).

Saving is especially desired by Personality Type Sixes who are usually anxious, fearful, worried, and insecure and by Type Twos who play the roles of Rescuers and Saviors.

Honor is especially desired by Personality Type One Perfectionists.

Idealism is especially valued by Personality Type One Perfectionists.

Social contacts are especially valued by Personality Type Sixes who want to form dependent and co-dependent relationship which can provide a sense of security and met their needs or perceived needs.

Family is especially valued by Personality Type Sixes (who need external support to feel secure) and Type Twos (who feel that families can be a built-in source of the love they did not receive from their fathers during childhood).

Status is especially desired by Personality Type Three Performers / Narcissists.

Vengeance is especially desired by Personality Type Eight Controllers / Bosses / Sociopaths / Psychopaths.

Romance is especially desired by Personality Type Fours.

Eating (with other believers) which is especially desired by Personality Type Nines and Sevens (Nines often being food addicts and Sevens often being addicts . . . to food, alcohol, drugs, sex, shopping, whatever).

Physical exercise is especially valued by Personality Type Three Body-Conscious, Body-Identified Narcissists

and

Tranquility is especially desired by Personality Type Nines who prefer to avoid anything that might upset them.

Are you seeing what Maharaj saw, that it really is all about the mind / personality tandem? Persons want to be at peace and free of anxiety and stress. Anxiety and stress and unhappiness are generated by mental anguish. And what causes mental anguish?

Emotional intoxication. And what drives emotional intoxication? The agendas of personalities, of personas. Feelings are about sensitivity and warmth and caring and understanding and empathizing. The “Realized” feel, but only those trapped in ego-states / false identities / personas / personalities / role playing will emote.

Maharaj was asked, “Do you really care about those of us who come your way?” The answer: “More than you’ll ever know.” Had the question been, "Do you become emotional about those who come your way?" then the answer would have been, “Never.”

Emotions and emotional intoxication are messengers, signaling to you that there is something that is amiss with your psyche, big time.

So what is the solution? Many think . . . “More dogma.” Many think . . . “Being more spiritual.” Many think . . . “Knowing the Supreme Self.”

But all of those have a hidden, mind-and-personality-rooted agenda which drives persons to cling to their attachments, which inspire persons to be obsessive and compulsive about the content of their belief systems; and which take away any and all ability to make conscious choices because persons are always driven by unconscious influences.

Medieval castles were very complex structures. If one were arrested and taken across a drawbridge and it was then drawn up over a moat, then escape was near impossible. The chances of ever being free were decreased with each additional step as the main gates in the barbican were opened and then locked behind the prisoner; as the portcullis was lowered, further blocking access to the main exit;

as the prisoner was lead across the bailey and as the outermost door to the dungeon was unlocked and then locked behind the prisoner; as the prisoner was led from one lower level to another with a series of doors being unlocked and locked while moving farther and farther underground; as one was taken through the main doors of the dungeon which were then locked;

as one was taken through a series of cell blocks with doors being unlocked and locked behind the prisoner; and as the prisoner finally reached a cell at the end of the dungeon, was cast inside, and then watched as those doors were locked there as well.

The programmed and conditioned and acculturated and domesticated and indoctrinated and brainwashed mind is also a complex structure, and the farther one goes into it, the less likely it is that escape from it is possible.

The chances of ever being free are decreased with each additional step as the mind is initially open to believing unquestioningly whatever it is told and as belief systems become locked inside, turning programmed and conditioned persons into prisoners as they become trapped in the bogus beliefs which have been passed down to then from the most ignorant of times;

each belief eventually becomes one of the bars of each person's prison - namely, the mind - which becomes the dark dungeon in which the beliefs of those driven by what Maharaj called "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity" form the cell block in which persons are locked away and left to rot away, imagining that they are free but where they are actually anything but.

In the search from freedom, consider how many doors a prisoner in the final cell of the dungeon would have to pass beyond to finally walk across the drawbridge to total independence; then understand that a prisoner might take dozens of steps and finally reach the open courtyard of the castle and enter into the light for the first time in what seems like forever.

Yet if there is even one final gate that is not opened, even one final portcullis that is never raised, then the prisoner remains as trapped as he or she while in was in the deepest bowels of the castle.

It is the mind which is a storehouse of all which imprisons persons.

John Milton: "The mind . . . in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven”

and

Richard Lovelace: “Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.”

So what did he identify as that which does make a prison? The mind.

It is the mind which is the storehouse of all which results in a false sense of different-from-ment which – in turn – always leads to a subsequent sense of better-than-ment.

It is the mind, being the storehouse of beliefs about different-from-ment and better-than-ment, which leads to a false sense of separation which then sets the stage for arguments, nonsensical disagreements, fighting, conflict, killing, wars, chaos, pain, misery, and suffering.

It is the mind which is a storehouse of learned ignorance, personality disorders, and the neuroses and psychoses which can follow as personality disorders disintegrate into a state of severe psychic unhealthiness.

Religions and spirituality and philosophies and ideologies and belief systems are not stored in so-called "holy" or "special" or "different books." Most Christians have never read the Bible in its entirety. In fact, Constantine made it a crime - punishable by death - for anyone to read the Bible on his or her own. Only a priest could read and explain the content of the Bible. Nowadays, most still follow that pattern. A majority of Muslims have never read the Quran in its entirety, at least 42.7% of them being illiterate.

Instead, religions and spirituality and philosophies and ideologies have always been stored in the most warped and distorted and twisted and sick place of all: the human mind.

At every step, the long and arduous “path” which was followed here for decades involved dealing with persons who were all determined to use their dogma or exercises or beliefs or methods to add more to the mind, touting the need for more dogma, more spiritual exercises, more philosophy, more ideology, more (but different) beliefs, ad infinitum.

The long and arduous search ended when it became clear that (1) all of the stuff in the mind was the actual source of every problem, the mind being the origin of every problem; and that (2) the solution did indeed call for de-accumulation . . . that is, called for entering into a process of being un-taught all of it; called for entering into a process of un-learning it all;

and called for casting aside all of the nonsense which had been added to and stored in a part of the brain which would be called “the mind” and which would lead to decades of ignorant and nonsensical and insane actions which led to massive levels of misery and suffering that did not end until the mind came to an end.

How to end the mind, the entire content of which can all be summarized with the term, “one’s beliefs”?

Abandon all beliefs. No beliefs? No mind. No mind? No stone walls. No stone walls? Freedom.

As has been noted here, each belief, each assumed persona, and each scrap of learned ignorance which is all stored in the mind . . . each of those becomes one of the many bars which are used to form the prison of the mind.

Want to be freed from prison? Cut away the bars of beliefs; the bars of identifications (or Identification); and the bars of taught and learned ignorance.

Only then can you be free of dualistic thinking, and only free of dualistic thinking can you be truly free, and only if truly free can you be happy. (As Maharaj said, “It really is simple,” yes?)

Five Free eBooks

Compliments of Andy Gugar, Jr.,
the following eBooks are available without charge for you or for friends:

I.
"GOOD vs. EVIL?" or "IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY, and INSANITY?"

The content of this eBook deals with one of the most common but erroneous beliefs that the non-Realized masses cling to and which they will fight about (and even kill over), namely, that there is a planet-wide duel going on between “the forces of good and evil” in the universe.

Either (1) the ancient view is spot on: that the "ills of the planet" are rooted in evil people, in people not being religious enough or spiritual enough, and are caused solely by bad morality; or, (2) the "ills of the planet" are rooted in ignorance, stupidity and insanity and "being good" or "being moral" does not put an end to ignorance, does not eliminate stupidity, and does not treat insanity in any way.

II.
"THE VISION"

Comments regarding the free eBook entitled “THE VISION”:

“My thanks to you and Andy.” – Andrew “Mac” McMaster

“Thanks so much for the book! And, by the way, it is brilliant and the most effective pointing that you have done. It has served to help clear the remaining blockages.” – Stan Cross

“Greatly appreciate having “THE VISION” added to my Henderson resource library that is situated on the right side of my bed for easy access! Eternally grateful for what was received and what was given.” – Robert Rigby

“‘THE VISION’ is such a well-written, condensed version of the Nisarga Yoga approach to understanding and enjoying Reality that I feel it can serve as a must-read ‘meditation guide’ for all earnest seekers.” – Andy Gugar, Jr.

III.
"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

There is much that a non-dualist or Advaitin or Nisargan can relate to by comparing and contrasting what Sapolsky reveals about the way certain troops of baboons live in Africa with the way that humans abide all around the globe.

This 152-page eBook catalogues the common, non-dual message shared by Sapolsky and Maharaj and reveals the ways that Sapolsky’s scientific research supports the non-dual pointers offered by Maharaj.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.

This 337-page eBook discusses those issues in detail.
