From a site visitor: “I’ve read postings where you seem to suggest that there are no benefits to anything, but it seems to me that understanding the Absolute would have to have some positive impact on the relative.”

F.: Consider: the only time persons ever experience perfect peace is while in a deep sleep state when the brain is cycling at a delta-level-rate, and that also happens to be the only time that persons are not seeking anything, including food, money, knowledge, love, success, etc. What does that tell you? You might conclude that the Absolute, comparable to deep sleep, is marked by peace, but that's only accurate to the extent that no one is there to experience either peace or a lack of peace. It's also accurate only to the extent that no seeking is going on because there is no one to seek. The conclusion: allow all false roles that interrupt peace to disappear, as they do when you're in deep sleep. Stop seeking anything, but merely witness all as it happens. Work can continue and money can be earned for the basic requirements, but that can all just happen. The shift was from "I am a teacher, and I am frustrated that my desires to teach are being interrupted" to "Teaching will either happen today...or not. So it is." Forget “positive” or “negative” and forget seeking and longing and desiring and accumulating. Realization gives you nothing. It takes everything, including that “you.” Here’s how one discussion unfolded in an IM exchange:

Seeker: I want what you have.
F.: You must misunderstand. I have nothing.
Seeker: Well, unless you’re fooling me, you have peace and happiness and bliss.
F.: You have been fooled alright, but not by Me.
Seeker: You speak of finding happiness and peace and bliss in some of your books and on the website.
F.: Those remarks are for semi-dry charcoal. Those in the gunpowder stage come to know that there is nothing to seek. Then, they soon Realize. I do not know happiness, peace and bliss. Instead, I know What I AM, and I know What You Are. I also know What You Were prior to the manifestation of this I-Amness to which I now speak. I know What You Were before your parents ever met, and I know how you moved through various stages and how you accumulated various images and roles. I know how That which was pure became soiled and contaminated. Because the Absolute is understood, the functioning of the totality is understood, and that understanding prevents emotional intoxication (which in turn preempts misery and suffering and the search for peace and happiness and bliss that misery and suffering inspire). Feelings are felt but emotionalism is not experienced. There is no experiencer. If you are a seeker at this point, do not seek happiness, peace or bliss. Seek the Self and then that Self will allow You to see and to understand That Which Is beyond both peace and no peace in the relative and beyond beingness and non-beingness as well.
Seeker: Well I think it would be crazy not to seek happiness. I want to be happy and as a good parent all I really want for daughter is for her to be happy too.
F.: Ha! What is a “good” parent? So you use the word “crazy” as you seek happiness for yourself (or selves) and as you want her to seek and find happiness. Would it be sane or crazy to believe that a mirage could be happy? The happiness of he who is attached to the role of "lover" is under the control of that role's counterpart. SHE can decide when lover is happy and when lover is sad or frustrated. How can anyone find happiness or assure happiness if he has assumed a dependent role that places all control of his happiness in the hands of another? And you think it is sane, with millions and billions suffering across the face of the planet, for your daughter to be the ONE exception to the rule and never be unhappy? How arrogant. How insane to wish for such an exemption for her. Add to that the fact that all misery is rooted in wishing and desiring and hoping and you see that your belief system can only generate more misery, never less. 86,400 humans die every twenty-four hours, on average. [The planet is currently doubling that rate with its wars and genocides.] As a persona, you want an exemption from that fate which awaits your body as well. What ego persons develop as they long for continuity of body-mind-personality. Notice how false identities, how ego-states, generate unbounded ego to defend their false selves, and see that it’s all completely imaginary…all evolving from the corrupted consciousness. See that the corrupted consciousness is the very root of distorted perceptions, the very crux of the “mind,” and thus the very root of misery. The only chance your daughter has at escaping the misery of the relative existence is to find out Who or What she Was prior to your meeting her mother.

Please enter the silence of contemplation. [The dialogue will continue tomorrow]

F.: In The Twice-Stolen Necklace Murders, Chief Two Hawks explained it thusly to his protégé:

Isn’t it clear that beyond all the varied appearances in manifest form, that ‘beneath’ all that, is something that gives energy to the form? And is it not also apparent that the conscious energy source—which obviously has consciousness for it knows how to do what it does automatically—is the common element? And do you not then perceive that all the manifested forms that materialize and de-materialize cannot be the real part for they do not ‘last’?

“Understand that what you call ‘death’ is just the distillation of all that has been attached or ‘added’ since manifestation—via the teaching of concepts—to the essence, the pure consciousness-energy. The distilling, or the cleansing or stripping away of all that is not essence-only, is an act of re-purifying consciousness. But you call it ‘death’ as if it were something to be detested. The dirty mind—filled with its myths, lies, concepts, beliefs, emotions, ideas, and superstitions—hates the notion of such cleansing and purification. Programmed humans love their beliefs and concepts, defining themselves with those ideas. Don’t dare try to cleanse their minds, for they’ll want to kill you. The last thing most want is to be freed of the garbage in their minds which they think is so valued. To challenge their beliefs is to attack them personally, so they think. Filth loves filth. Corruption loves corruption. The familiar is attracted to the familiar.

“That essence-only is what You Are, what I Am. But back to the common element that is All. Modern physicists at first called that smallest building block ‘strings’ until some decided that an even more basic element exists which they call a ‘sparticle.’ Names notwithstanding, there is only one single ingredient to what we call ‘everything’ or ‘the diversity’ or ‘the entire universe.’ I call it ‘That,’ That which is the one and only whatever that is Real, typically Unmanifest, occasionally manifested, or not. ‘Everything’ is really one thing. The term ‘unicity’ is accurate.”

The non-duality, “not-two” teaching is more easily understood if one understands the fact that everything which persons think they are seeing on this planet and in this galaxy and in this entire universe originated from, and evolved from, one single atom; therefore, everything in this universe is a mutation, and nothing has become more mutated and distorted than humanity. Meanwhile, all is happening spontaneously and automatically, and all will continue to happen spontaneously and automatically as a result of the omnipresence of conscious-energy. The term Consciousness Design is applicable. “Intelligent Design,” on the other hand, is obviously an oxymoron for anyone willing to take an objective look at the history of this planet or at the destructive conduct of persons who are driven by their belief in divine planning and their "special role" in some imaginary "Universal Strategy." From a site visitor: “What is the relationship between perfect happiness and the Absolute? How does understanding the Absolute provide bliss?”

F.: Thanks for writing. Your question is relevant to the intended posting today.
The Absolute is not, as one person said, “as expansive as this universe”; instead, it IS this universe (and all universes). It is that which has endured all fiery expansions and supermassive collapses involving all universes for infinity. It is what always has been, what always is, and what always shall be. It cannot be created and it cannot be destroyed. The Absolute is the Original THAT which was not conditioned, which has no name, and which has no attributes. It is that which, when manifested, has the potential to know itSelf or to be bastardized and conditioned so it cannot remember itSelf. Either way, when the manifested becomes unmanifest, it will still be the Original, will still have no name, and will again have no attributes.

Neither matter nor energy can be created nor destroyed, so for persons with the ability to understand a few basic scientific facts, all questions about nonsensical concepts like “creation” and “creators” end. Any belief in the nonsense of the duality of eternal punishment or eternal reward ends. So why do the dualities of “good vs. bad” and “punishment vs. reward” generate so much effort, work, fear, judgment, arrogance and anxiety among persons? Simply because priests, medicine men, preachers, wise men, spiritualists, et. al. have convinced people that the “I-Amness,” the sense of presence, is eternal. Only if you understand how the conscious-energy with no awareness of itself became manifested in some space and then became aware of itself can you understand where that conscious-energy was, how it came to manifest, and then what will—and certainly will not—happen with it after it is no longer manifested.

How could that which senses its presence as a result of being manifested into a defined, finite space possibly know itself when reabsorbed into that field of pure energy in which only energy exists…in which no defined, finite spaces or forms or shapes exist? How could that which is conscious of its presence only when manifested know anything when unmanifested? Thus, all the nonsense and fear and effort generated by the belief in the lies of “good and bad” and “eternal punishment or reward” disappear with the understanding of what cycles and what does not. [And that understanding of the Absolute is related to the "happiness" that some claim they are experiencing, but more on that later since only persons can experience anything. The consciousness certainly cannot.] In the book “What Happens When I Die?” the following is offered:

Two very distinct answers to your question, "What happens when the body ends?" are before you. One is rooted in logic and fact; the other is rooted in emotional intoxication and fiction. One answer will result in continued darkness and misery, in fear and desire, in valuing or accepting suffering in "this life" in anticipation of a reward in "that life," in rigidity and inflexibility, in arrogance, in a false sense of separation, in "dual-mindedness," in spiritual workaholism, in believing ancient myths and superstitions, and in the remainder of your relative existence being marred by the duality of occasions of happiness while otherwise being heavy and burdensome. The other answer will result in the remainder of your relative existence being marked by an incredible lightness of being.” [ http://www.floydhenderson.com/whenidie.htm ]

Many obstacles (in the form of concepts) block persons from realizing the Original Understanding. All widely-held beliefs about “pre-manifestation beingness with form” and all widely-held beliefs about “post-manifestation beingness with form and mind and personality” are rooted in ancient superstitions and pagan myths that were adopted by cults and that evolved into the modern religions and spiritual movements. All of the concepts and dogma taught by those involved with cults and religions and movements only muddy the consciousness and prevent the understanding of the functioning of the totality and the understanding of THAT. Too, the leaders in those groups convince seekers that they have found the answer, so the seeking is halted before persons are even halfway to finding all the lies, discarding all their personas, and thereby finding the truth. As long as the body-mind-personality triad is assumed to be a True Self or a real identity, then the desire for continuity of the body-mind-personality will overshadow any chance for the real understanding to happen.

Now, to your question and the talk of “finding happiness,” “solving the mystery” or “finding the secret.” Here’s the secret: there is no unhappiness. All the talk of happiness and bliss and joy and peace is for the novice, for the wet charcoal that is only beginning the “journey.” Pointers on this site and pointers offered in talks by sages are offered at all three levels, including talk of happiness and bliss. But the secret is only for those at the dry charcoal or the gunpowder stage. Only personas can believe that happiness or unhappiness is being experienced. WHO is unhappy? WHO is happy? Only ego-states. One might as well report that a mirage is unhappy.
The man assuming the role of "The Husband" is only happy if the person playing the role of "The Wife" stays with him. If "The Wife" leaves, "The Husband" is no more, feels as if he is dying, and is thus unhappy. If she stays, he might experience fleeting moments of happiness. Yet that which is real does not change, and that which can change is unreal. The unreal (personas) experience these never-ending fluctuations; only with the realized does such chaos cease to happen.
All such talk of happiness and unhappiness reinforces dualistic thinking such as “I am very happy” at certain times as opposed to other times when “I am miserable.” The concept of “happiness” cannot exist in a vacuum. “Unhappiness” would also have to exist as its counterpart. The experience of “happiness” could only be defined in relationship to the experience of “unhappiness,” and relationship is also founded in dualistic thinking. Since persons cannot fixate in a state of happiness (any more than one can fixate in a deep sleep state without being comatose), then persons are constantly seeking. And constant seeking produces more unhappiness. No wonder one Advaita teacher said 2000 years ago, “A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways.” Thus, among persons, the relative is marked by instability, shiftings, disharmony and chaos. Only after transitioning beyond the relative and into the Absolute state will all the instability, shiftings, disharmony and chaos end, but nobody—no body—will be present to know it. As with a human whose brain has slowed to the delta-level cycle during deep sleep, the instability, shiftings, disharmony and chaos stop when the consciousness is reabsorbed into the Absolute state, but no person remains to be aware of that or anything else. So it is when the consciousness unmanifests and is reabsorbed into the pool of Absolute universal energy where it has no consciousness of itself at all.

The consciousness is, and it knows no unhappiness or happiness. The fake identities assumed by personas falsely believe that happiness or unhappiness is being experienced. Seekers are still persons, and what seekers should know is that, if the Original Understanding is grasped, nothing is going to be attained. All is going to be lost. You will dissolve as well. Accumulation is given no quarter on this site, including accumulation of spiritual knowledge (also known as, “learned ignorance"). All pointers point toward complete and total de-accumulation. Only be abiding in the understanding of the Absolute—even while involved in this relative existence—can no-instability, no-shiftings, no-disharmony and no-chaos AS IF living happen. [For more on AS IF living, you may go to the top of this page and search that term on this blog.] Please enter the silence of contemplation. [To be continued]

F.: Why will only one in a million persons understand the pointer offered at the end of yesterday’s post? Because shortly after THAT manifests in a plant body with a brain (specifically in what is called “a human”), the consciousness is bastardized. Soon, the one THATNESS is taken to be millions of “different things” as a result of being programmed with dualistic concepts and lies that are stored away and that form what will be called a “mind.” Eventually, all that could have happened naturally (as a result of the functioning of the brain) no longer happens; instead, very unnatural things begin to happen as a result of the “mind” being conditioned to think in a magical (supernatural) fashion.

The result is that humans that once awoke naturally in the mornings now awake in unnatural ways at unnatural times. Humans that once strolled about in peace now race about in crisis. Humans that once experienced a sense of peace by sitting in the quiet and watching a sunset now try to reach that peaceful state by humming, by kneeling, by genuflecting, and by kissing holy rings; by reading “holy” texts or reading “wise” words written by supposedly “holy” or “knowledgable” men; by making pilgrimages to “holy” shines and “holy” lands; by using drugs or alcohol to excess; by praying to imaginary powers in other realms; by talking to—and listening to—human-like but invisible superpowers; by reading “spiritual” books; by trying to live “spiritually” rather than naturally; by burning incense or by slinging water droplets; by placing special bowls on special pillows and striking the special bowls with special sticks; by sacrificing time and valuables to imagined powers or for “good” causes; by listening to arrogant men who dress in elaborate costumes; by assuming roles and playing those roles in special, “holy” buildings erected on “consecrated ground,” ad infinitum. If the normal (meaning, “unprogrammed and sane”) humans who had lived in a normal (meaning "unconditioned and unenculturated") fashion for millions of years could witness what is now-typical human behavior and now-typical human thinking, those earlier humans would know that they were watching the most outrageously absurd show in the history of this planet. Such is now the case.

Persons today—driven insane by modern programming and enculturation which inspires them to believe the most illogical beliefs—can be restored to sanity if they happen to cross the path of a Realized One and if they happen to be able to hear pointers and then consider them in a logical fashion. They can take the words of an “outer guru” and use them as intended: to guide them to tap into the inner resource, into the inner guru. That inner guru can help detect all of the insanity and lies and concepts that have been dreamed up by controlling men and that now form a “mind.” The insane can become sane in an instant…in the instant that they realize, “My gosh! It was all nonsense!” Then, having seen all the lies as lies, the movement along a specific “path” can happen and the functioning of the Absolute can be understood, and then one will be free of the search to find “peace of mind.” ("Peace of mind" will never happen because the “mind” is what robs persons of peace.) Yet few will be able to hear pointers or consider them objectively because the very programming that persons need to be free of has resulted in the assumption of ego-states that have a vested interest in the lies that are believed to be truth.

Having seen all the nonsense as the nonsense that it is, it will be understood that there is no such thing as “peace of mind” but that there is only peace when freed of the “mind” by being free of believing all the myths and superstitions and lies and “holy” teachings and ignorance that have driven persons insane. To be moved along via use of the brain is sane; to be driven by the whims of a “mind” is the very definition of “insanity.” The ‘journey” will continue when a person sees that all the religious and spiritual knowledge served some persona for a time but, when examined objectively, cannot be anything other than something to be transitioned. If able to question any beliefs that are held as rigidly as those are held, then the ability to take the next “step” and then question it all can happen. Only then can one see that (a) the consciousness which has been contaminated with relativistic concepts can be restored to its prior condition of Absolute purity, that (b) one can be freed of insanity, and that (c) sanity can be restored. Please enter the silence of contemplation. [To be continued]
