The masses during this current and on-going “age of self-help” find a suggestion to be “rid of self” anathema. Such urging to “Make Yourself Rich in Twelve Months”; “Improve Yourself with Twelve Steps”; or
“Learn the Ten Steps to Success” will have far more appeal to the masses then considering these steps of negation and de-accumulation and beingness-rather-than-doingness and quietness-over-noise that are offered in this series.
If there truly were an enforceable “Clean Air Act,” the planet would have to fall into total and complete silence save the few cases where the consciousness would speak.
Other than that, all of the ignorance being spouted would have to cease if the mass-”mind” were to be cleaned out and then kept clean by putting an end to the spreading of nonsensical beliefs and concepts.
Yet that will not happen, so what of the few that are ready to be rid of such beliefs and concepts? For them, the silence awaits, but it is up to each dedicated seeker of Truth to find an environment of silence.
But why go into the silence if all that is going to be heard is the content of a contaminated “mind”? Something must happen prior to that.
If there is talk to be heard or if words or to be read by those truly ready to be free of false beliefs, it must be the talk or the words of the pure, unblocked consciousness. Yet who that thinks insanely can suddenly understand sane talk or sane words?
Who that think they can meditate their way to freedom from the content of an insane mind will have anything other than a warped tool to use in their efforts to try to dig out the false and find the truth?
The warped “mind” cannot straighten itself. The blocked consciousness cannot unblock itself.
The search for a guide to point out the steps on “the path” must continue until a guide is found that has traveled in its entirety that reverse path from body identification to identification with that / THAT which is authentic (and beyond).
That guide must know the exact steps which must - as Maharaj noted - be taken in the exact reverse order. The “out-going steps” are the same as the “in-coming steps” but are simply taken in reverse order.
Have you found a guide that knows the exact steps, that knows exactly how the manifest consciousness reached a point of body identification?
Have you found a guide that can provide the directions for you to follow to un-do what a planetful of non-realized persons have done?
Have you been provided every pointer required? Have you then gone into the silence to consider those steps and to determine if you are willing to take them in their exact reverse order?
It has been shared before that Grandmother and the others among her tribe of Cherokees (and most other tribes as well) emphasized that truth is nothing more than the space between exhalation and inhalation. Do you understand why some non-dual guides offer the pointer that “silence speaks”?
(1) Truth cannot be stated, so only in silence can the Truth be known; (2) only in the silence can the inner resource / inner guru be heard; and
(3) only in the space between exhalation and inhalation can Truth be realized. But all of the blockages must be revealed by a realized guide before anything in the silence can be understood.
As with all religions, the Christians have long claimed that their scriptures are “the holy, infallible word of God.” Interestingly, the Councils of Nicea found nearly 1000 books of their Bible, along with numerous passages scattered throughout, that needed amending since they were found to be fallible and needed to be rewritten or eliminated to make the texts really infallible.
When the Councils of Nicea decided to make “satan” (literally, “the enemy” and referring to the ego) into a personalized “Satan” and to make “Beelzebub” (literally, “the god of insects”) into another name for “Satan,” they found a passage that became troublesome in light of their newly-created source of evil. It said:
“You have been given a simple life. Man’s complex problems are of his own making.”
Since the message contained in that verse was in conflict with their invention of a devil who was said to be the cause of humankind’s complex problems, that passage was deemed “fallible” and removed.
Anthropologists provide evidence of a formerly-simple life among humans, but that is no more, so what is the related non-dual pointer for your consideration?
27. No more is anyone given a simple life; furthermore, your complex life and problems are not of your own making.
The problems and complexities now result from the planet’s corporate “mind,” which is now a storehouse for the collective fabrications of humankind . . . merely a repository of commonly-held and jointly-shared stockpiles of myth-based prevarications and ignorance-generated nonsense.
Because of the prevalence of those fabrications and because of the widespread dissemination of the same, you never had a chance. You were never given even the slightest opportunity to enjoy a simple life.
You were robbed, and what they (“they” meaning almost everyone in your culture and your “world”) took from you was your chance at total simplicity, true peace, and consistent happiness.
I have found what was taken from you. I come to point out to you where it is, and you can recover it if you are but willing to study the four steps and follow them as instructed.
You will not do that if you do not understand what is missing, what was added, what happened to you as a result, and what they did before you were even old enough to know they were doing it.
Maybe you still do not know? Maybe your pride at “how well you have turned out” even makes you grateful for what they did and how well they did it?
For those who understand they were robbed, there is no cause for anger or resentment, only a call to take the steps to realization.
(Moreover, Maharaj that realization is nothing more than eliminate of all of the beliefs which are stored in the mind part of the brain and, thereby, to no longer be driven by learned ignorance).
One with a rotten tooth need not love or hate the source of his/her teeth, nor the dentist that comes along and is willing to extract it, but extraction is the only option if pain and misery are to end.
From the beginning, as soon as you were old enough to listen, they began pumping your brain full of nonsense that formed a cluttered “mind.” From that point on, you never had a chance.
You could have moved through the existence as humans or human-like beings had moved for millions of years (functioning off the auspices of the brain and the sixth sense and the intuition) but you were robbed of that option.
It was after languages developed, and after another section of the brain evolved, that “minds” began to form. The “mind” formed for excellent, self-constructive reasons, but eventually nonsense would replace reason and the corrupted, self-destructive “mind” began to override the self-constructive brain.
Someone recently shared a person’s thought about “the gentleness of the mind” being an asset for humankind. “The “gentleness of the mind?” Really?
It is the content of the mind - namely “the learned ignorance, the stupidity and the insanity” stored therein - which (per Maharaj) drives every thought and every word and every action among the non-realized. The result?
That has resulted in a sense of separate-from-ment and different-from-ment and better-than-ment which, in turn, results in hatred, killing partners / spouses / mates, fighting, wars, etc.
The mind has nothing to do with gentleness. It has everything to do with judgmentalism, unkindness, spitefulness, hardness, harshness, rigidity, callousness, pitilessness, insensitivity, hostility, ruthlessness, cruelty, brutality, and savagery.
The “mind” would destroy you and all of those considered to be among the to-be-feared-and-hated “other.” Persons hates the mind’s insanity and its phoniness in “others” but they blindly love the contradictory, duality-based content of their own minds.
That is the state into which you have been cast. You did not choose the way you are. You had no say in the way they programmed and conditioned and acculturated and domesticated and brainwashed and indoctrinate you.
The bottom line: You never had a chance . . . a chance for freedom from the warped “mind,” a chance for peace, a chance for contentment, a chance for a simple life, a chance to understand the Oneness, a chance at understanding Real Love.
Yet you have a chance now. You can hear and heed the call to de-accumulate rather than to continue to try to accumulate more and more and more.
A chance to consider the pointers offered by a guide that endorses un-teaching, not teaching you more. A guide that endorses un-learning all of the nonsense passed down to you by those who had authority over you.

“Winds of life are blowing across the reservation and I can hear the voice of a
new generation . . . and it's time, yes it's time, to live.”
When the winds of change blow away the blockages which support the illusory,
inauthentic life, only then can that which is called "life" be
relished as the Absolute (and even the Nothingness) are overlaid on the
relative existence and allow authenticity and sanity and logic and reason to
take root.
