ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A new video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.
7. You may click here to visit Floyd's bookstore which offers both digital books and paperback books which deal with non-duality, non-duality-based fictional adventures, recovery, and financial budgeting.
I AM THAT vs. “This Is Who I Think I Am”
(Continued from yesterday)
A movie recently received more awards at the Oscars ceremony than any other single competitor. It beat out a xenophobia-driven movie which glorifies war and the U.S. warrior class (an always popular motif in the U.S. culture with its Germanic / Aryan roots); it beat out another war-focused movie;
it beat out a movie with two male characters shifting from BFF statue to enemy status which left both to be driven by the key symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness which Maharaj identified as “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity”;
it beat out a movie about one of the planet’s favorite singers with a career that spanned several decades; and it beat out several other movies of various thematic and / or entertainment interest to millions of moviegoers.
That movie which won “Best Picture of the Year 2023” honors has a “Far Eastern bent” which involves the “Multiverse” (defined on the internet as “an infinite realm of being or potential being of which the universe is regarding as a part . . . . ”)
As for “multi-universes,” Maharaj said:
“There is enough space in a point for an infinity of universes.”
He said that he was present during the formation of all universes.
He said, “Entire universes are imploding and exploding every moment.”
It was asked in one discussion: “What would happen if two parallel universes were to collide?” The reply: “Some physicists have proposed that such a collision between two such M-branes or (“branes”) would cause a “Big Bang” (or, in our case, “The Big Bang”).
So, were the voters for “Best Picture” into the “Multiverse” part of the picture or more into the message regarding “the importance of kindness”? Unknown, but either way, the multiverse was central to the film. There was an obvious acceptance of that subject.
Might
that show some shift away from the shallowness and banality and triviality of the
adulation given to war and warriors and popular singers and boring men
fighting, etc.? Again, unknown.
Next, to continue with the discussion of the Nothingness. As for the Nothingness, it is prior to consciousness and even prior to THAT.
Prior to this energy field that is scattered throughout “this universe,” there was a void. [Yes, there is no such thing as “time,” but for the sake of discussion, some words must be used - as with a thorn to be tossed later on.]
Thus, the Self is taken by some to be that which is THAT, but what of that which is beyond beingness and non-beingness and even beyond the Absolute and the self-ness and the Self-ness and the THAT-ness?
“Absolute” simply means “pure”- it is just a term used to point to the unadulterated awareness that is free of the conditioning which the manifested consciousness is subjected to.
Ah, but beyond that which is merely taken to be the pure form of non-manifested energy? There is what is prior to the this-ness and to the THAT-ness . . . and that is what I point to with the words “the Nothingness.”
It is the Nothingness that I Am, and since there is no identity, even that is a feeble attempt to invite protégés to shift beyond any identification.
How would Maharaj respond to the notion of “not being realized” which a visitor to this site mentioned? Consider when a visitor to the loft said, “I have not yet understood why, if nothing stands in the way of liberation, it does not happen here and now.”
Maharaj replied, “Nothing stands in the way of your liberation and it can happen here and now, but for your being more interested in other things. And you cannot fight with your interests. You must go with them, see through them and watch them reveal themselves as mere errors of judgement and appreciation.”
If a seeker is at “The Gunpowder Stage,” then that seeker has moved beyond “the fight with interests,” has “seen them through,” and has seen them to be nothing more than “errors in judgment.”
Furthermore, how would Maharaj have addressed the notion of nothingness sent in the reply above? In the book I AM THAT, the term “nothing” is raised 492 times. Hold onto that fact for a moment while revisiting pointer number four in this series and a comment offered about it:
Be unflinchingly true to truth. Either you will be true to what is authentic or you will try to be true to your false self/selves, and trying to be true to the false is an act of total insanity or overwhelming ignorance or extreme misunderstanding.
That pointer was level-appropriate for those seekers at “The Dry Charcoal Stage,” but for those at “The Gunpowder Stage,” there is more to be understood.
If you believe that you have abandoned identification with the false self (or with all of the false selves) and that you are now identified with something called “The True Self” or “The Real Self” or “The Infinite Self” or “The Supreme Self,” then know that you have not reached the end of “the path” . . . that you have not completed the full “journey” to complete realization of the Truth which you are invited to be unflinchingly true to.
If you are identifying with that which you take to be “the Real You,” then you have not yet understood the non-dual pointers regarding the nothingness. Here is a pointer which Maharaj offered on the subject (which is often misstated):
“Love says: 'I am everything'. Wisdom says: 'I am nothing.' Between the two my life flows.” For all the times each day that the quote is repeated or re-read, how many seekers really focus on the “I am nothing” part of that pointer?
Maharaj said, “The final answer is this: nothing is. All is a momentary appearance in the field of the universal consciousness . . . .”
You are also invited to consider the pointers in this exchange which also took place in the loft:
Maharaj: Your natural state, in which nothing exists, cannot be a cause of becoming; the causes are hidden in the great and mysterious power of memory. But your true home is in nothingness, in emptiness of all content.
Questioner: Emptiness and nothingness - how dreadful!
Maharaj: You face it most cheerfully, when you go to sleep! Find out for yourself the state of wakeful sleep and you will find it quite in harmony with your real nature.
So there again is a pointer about the “wakeful sleep” discussed in this series as well as a pointer toward the nothingness. This part of the message is found to be nonsense by some; anathema to some who want to cling to their newly-found and newly-adopted and “elevated” identity of a “True Self”; but for a few, the understanding of the pointer is an opportunity to “be unflinchingly true to truth.”
As complicated as this seems to some, it shall be explained in smaller doses. The explanation will continue tomorrow. For now, you are invited to take a few moments to consider the meaning behind the non-dual message when it addresses “zero concepts” and “identification with the nothingness” (which is really about being free of any identity at all).
To be continued.
Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
