What greater example of duality could exist than to give lip service to "truth" while living a lie, telling lies, and preferring the false to the true.

One of the greatest calls for the non-dual understanding is the near-universal absence among humans to be able to differentiate between the true and the false. Hypocrisy reigns.

Of the nine enneagram types, if realized (that is, freed from being driven by learned ignorance more than anything else) Type Fours are more likely to be able to make that differentiation; thus, "applied non-duality," meaning taking the pointers which lead to understanding and then allowing the understanding to be the motivating force behind one's words and actions).

As a Enneagram Type Four, rebelling comes automatically. questioning authority is an auto-pilot response with such Type Four "rebels" from so many varied areas including in the field of psychology, the later Maharaj; in the field of art, Vincent Van Gogh and Michelangelo; in the field of music, Josephine Baker and Janis Joplin and Mozart and Beethoven and Yoko Ono and John Lennon and Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison and James Taylor and Neil Young and Prince and Freddie Mercury and Adam Lambert; 

in the field of writing, Anne Frank and Edgar Allan Poe and Harper Lee and Shakespeare and Henry David Thoreau; in the field of acting, Jane Fonda and Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp and James Dean; in the field of journalism, Martha Graham and Rachel Maddow; in the field of comedy, Jim Carrey and Steve Martin and Richard Pryor; 

in the field of leadership, Joan of Arc and Malala Yousafzai and Sitting Bull and Geronimo and Crazy Horse and Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, Jr. and Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks and Barack Obama; in the field of science, Galileo Galilei and Neil deGrasse Tyson, and too many  other woman and men to name. Yet only 1/2 of 1 % of the humans on planet earth are Type Fours, so realization never comes naturally to humans.

To the contrary, they cling to the lies and falsehoods which they believe, to their distortions, to their misperceptions.

If disintegrated and non-realized rather than integrated and realized, Type Threes and Types Eights can be especially prone to distortion and attachment to false perceptions.

I was married to a Type Three who was totally dedicated to developing and maintaining the image of "The Super Religious One," as far removed from being able to see hypocrisy and inauthenticity as one could be; yet she felt entitled to take, to not pay what she owed, to enter into relationships with persons already in supposedly committed relationships and still believe fully in her self-image of being The Most Moral One.

At one point, I owed money to several banks and - having lost employment and income and savings and my house and my possessions - I could have easily not paid my debtors anything at all; instead, I had a friend who was an attorney and he arranged extended, minimum monthly payments until the day when I was able once more to pay my debts in full. Yet that woman was furious that I was paying them what they were owed.

To owe an institution money without feeling any need at all to give their money back to them reveals a rather sociopathic mindset. The same applies if a person or persons are owed money without any intention of giving it back to them.

Now admittedly, mindset and money and debt and repayment are all relative issues, yet the refusal to care about restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation are linked to religious and spiritual conditioning. Really? How? We'll see.

Sure, among the 14 million Jews and the 2.4 billion Christians, there is some attention paid to a "commandment" which say "Thou shalt not steal." The remainder among the 97% on planet earth who claim a religious affiliation also hear some talk about not stealing as well. 

Also, there's talk about asking for forgiveness and of apologizing to God for having strayed from the path he / she / it expects one to follow. 

Yet while there is talk about what not to do, there is nothing mention in the key "Commandments" about what one should do, such as returning whatever has been stolen or paying back whatever is owed.

See? No non-dual understanding? Then no ability to differentiate between true and false and instead an ability to become a queen or king of hypocrisy.

Almost all acts of colonialism (that is, the act of invading others lands and enslaving the people and stealing their resources) has historically been done by the people in nations who have claimed or still claim to be religious and godly (including two of the top offenders, the U.K. and the U.S.)

The leaders in such invading nations respond to criticism of their acts of colonialism by explaining that "the people in all those lands are better off for having been exposed to our laws and rules and regulations and values and economic system and our system of government. They should actually thank us."

Recall that Churchill's made clear his belief that the Brits were right to practice colonialism and imperialism, explaining that the people in inferior countries are better off when superior races and superior nations invade them and take them over.

So what is the religious link to the refusal to care about restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation? There is a belief system passed along via religious and conditioning which offers a huge emphasis on confessing and apologizing but offers little emphasis to repayment. 

When the armies of God's supposedly "chosen people" wiped out their enemies and collected the spoils of war (thanks to their God, supposedly) there was never any order eventually to give back the spoils.

What is valued among the religious, therefore, is confessing one's wrongdoings to God and asking for forgiveness. Why? Usually to con God so that, post-manifestation, those persons [think they] will be "in favor with God" and, therefore, will receive eternal rewards rather than eternal punishment. If they were not running another scam, this time with God, they would not just say they were sorry but would actually give back the money or things they took.

Over a billion Christians are regularly told by their leaders, "So you cheated on your spouse and you stole from your employer? Okay. Say ten 'Hail Marys' for each. Now go and sin no more." 

What is missing is? (1) "Per God's Commandments, return to the employer all that you stole, with interest" and (2) "As for cheating on your spouse, who knows? You may never be able to correct the potential damage. We'll see what comes of that. Sucks, huh?" and (3) "Per God's Commandments, don't come back until you can tell me what arrangements you've made to make full restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation." 

See? Number 3 is never a part of The Commandments and is never a part of the leaders' demands.

So, via very warped conditioning, the belief becomes, "I'll apologize, I'll say I'm sorry, but as for making restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation, hell I can't afford to do that and no one here is going to make sure I do." 

Thus, the religious link to valuing confession or apologizing is linked to supposedly eternal benefits which can come from those actions, 

but 

giving little or no value to restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation is a product of religious conditioning which emphasizes the former and almost totally neglects the latter.

The tithing / receiving rewards connection is regularly taught and reinforced. (Per some "holy" texts, God will reward people for religious tithing.)

Moreover, what humans truly care about is revealed by what they spend their money on: tithing, trying to escape or cope with booze or drugs or other addictive habits, sex, sports, politicians, military forces and armaments, ad infinitum. Trillions of dollars are spent on those things annually, all of which amount to an attempt in the long run to garner power and control. 

By comparison, how much is spent willingly each year on restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation? Not too much. 

Fanaticism about power and control and self are paramount. Being fanatical about restitution, reimbursement, repayment, and compensation? Not so much.

Want to apologize for things said and done? Stuff it. Want to give back all the money you took? Hand it over, now. 

Relative? Yes, which is all any of us have for now. As for what might be had "later," don't sweat that. No one has ever survived the manifestation and been able to have anything . . . neither reward nor punishment. There is only NOW. 

Maharaj: " A thing focussed in the now is with me, for I am ever present; it is my own reality that I impart to the present event" 

and 

"Past and future are in the mind only — I am now."

THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."

--Pope John Paul II 

"There is no hell."

--Pope Francis, the current pope

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium. 

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]

FANATICISM ALSO REQUIRES ONE TO BE ASLEEP TO THE REALITY ONE'S OWN "self / "selves") IF THE FANATICISM IS TO FLOURISH 

Some regular visitors to this site are aware that a woman who was and continues to be a religious fanatic had judged me and found me to be different from her and therefore less than her. Confusing the ancient non-dual teachings with the 1970's New Age movement, she informed me that I was a "New Age Agent of Satan," that she "would never have anything to do with a non-Christian," and that she "had been praying for a year that God would kill me." 

Praying every day for a year for her God to kill someone? (That is, thinking she's such a Super Christian and so hooked up with God that she was entitled to be able to hire her God as a Celestial Hit Man? Now that is some persistent fanaticism.)

But that fanaticism only thrived as a result of being totally asleep to the reality one's own "self" / "selves." Only then can fanaticism flourish and foster an amazing ability to spin one's own reality or an amazing ability to deny the truth regarding oneself. 

Though her work in the ministry at several churches resulted in her being seen as one of the most devout Christians ever, she had played some role in the demise of several marriages as a result of her having affairs with married men; had destroyed her own marriage; and had pretty much abandoned her own child in the pursuit of a new career in a host of Christian churches.

Of course three benefits of being fanatically-religious are (1) the perk of being able to ask forgiveness for anything said or done; (2) believing that one has been forgiven and therefore given a clean slate again (and again, and again); and then (3) being able to continue to do whatever one wants over and over and over, no matter the resultant relative consequences and misery and suffering for others. 

I recall a man telling me that he had defrauded a bank of $100,000 after they had issued him a credit card and had made him a cash loan. He explained that he "had joined a spiritual group and had asked God to forgive him for that" and then explained how great he felt "when God lifted from him the burden of guilt and shame and worry over that." There's that imaginary "clean slate" again.

The reply: "Wonderful. Sounds like a rather keen and passionate - and maybe even fanaticism-generating - experience. Congratulations. So now that you've worked with God to make you feel better after having stolen $100,000.00, what arrangements have you made with the bank to repay them?" End of that conversation, or any possibility of future conversations as well. 

A man a few months ago apologized for damages his work crew made to my sprinkler system while working in a neighbor's yard. He said, "I've pointed out the damage and showed them what they did and told them not to ever do that again. I assure you it will not happen anymore in the future." 

I explained that an apology without restitution was meaningless and gave him a bill for the repairs. Until my neighbor told him that he could never work for her again unless he paid for the repairs to my sprinkler, he had no intention of accepting responsibility for the damage his crew had done. 

Another man later apologized for damages his work crew had made to my property. I explained that an apology without restitution was meaningless. End of conversation. 

All of those people are fanatical about hanging on to their money instead of using some of it to make restitution when due while believing that making an apology shows clearly that they are nice and decent people and that nothing more than an apology should be asked of them. As soon as I explained that recompense was expected, it turns out that - in their view - I was the one being a jerk. 

As soon as I explained to the woman mentioned above that my take was that one "being the most devout Christian ever" was a phony image rather than one's actual reality if one is praying every day for a year for her god to kill someone and abandoning her daughter and having affairs with married men. The view that I was the one who was being a jerk was reinforced in her mind.

Does all of that have to do with the relative existence only? You bet. It's only during the relative existence that one can spin and deny and self-deceive and rob persons or institutions of their property and develop a sense of being different from and thus better than "others" who are of a different skin color or of a different economic class or of a different sexual orientation or of a different political party or with a different perspective regarding religion or spirituality. 

No sense of being different from and better than and no sense of superiority could be believed in were it not for a belief in duality first.

Nor could any sense of superiority be believed in were it not for being fanatical about one's own race or economic status or sexual orientation or politics 

and 

being totally asleep to one's own relative condition. 

So it is when the masses all around the globe have contracted the duality-based Ultimate Sickness and are quite willing to accept and normalize its key symptoms (identified by Maharaj as being "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity").

On one end of an "attention continuum," Covig-19 is presently receiving international attention; on the other end of the continuum, the Ultimate Sickness is receiving hardly any attention at all, most humans never having even heard of it. Yet the Ultimate Sickness always poses the greater relative threat when compared to any viral or any bacterial sickness. Why? Consider:

Look at what has happened around the globe and see where even moderately-wise leaders and moderately-wise populations have reacted in moderately-wise-and-sane fashions. By contrast, leaders in the U.S. - driven by ignorance and stupidity and insanity and selfishess as well as politically-motivated agendas - have exacerbated the effects of Covig-19 to the extent that 27 countries in the EU yesterday voted to ban U.S. citizens from entering their nations.

Wise move.

The reasons given?

#1: The level of new cases and deaths which are occurring in the U.S. Yesterday alone, there were 50,000 new cases.

More revealing is reason

#2: People in the EU and all around the globe are watching as people in the U.S. . . .

- are refusing to heed cautions offered by wise scientists and members of the medical community in deference to the ignorant advice being given by right-wing politicians;

- are behaving in the most absurd and immature and childish ways, prioritizing play over self-care;

- are engaging in fisticuffs and melees as some refuse to wear protective masks though required;

- are watching as those offended by efforts to force them to wear masks are spitting their potentially-deadly saliva at those trying to enforce wise health cautions;

- are seeing resentful people spitting on produce in markets;

- are seeing resentful people spitting in the faces of others;

- are seeing hundreds gather without any protective gear in close quarters in order to socialize and party and play and ignore the fact that a pandemic continues to rage throughout the land;

etc., etc., etc.

See, the ignorance and stupidity and insanity which comes with the Ultimate Sickness results in magnifying the effects of viruses and bacteria as well as the consequences of other hazardous behaviors; thus, the Ultimate Sickness will always be the greater sickness, no matter what other menace or peril or relative dangers might be involved.

It is typical for a child to be fanatical about play; unfortunately, it is also typical for adults who are being driven by their childish ways to be just as fanatical. When concerned with "self," both "self-harm" and "other-harming" - relatively speaking - will prevail.

It is commonplace for Darwinian scenarios to play out, scenarios which result in some organisms which - if normal - would favor survival and reproduction but which cause organisms which are currently abnormal and unnatural (i.e., driven by ignorance, stupidity and insanity) to croak, wane, fail, or collapse.

The bitch with a virus as easily passed on and as easily contracted as the coronavirus is this: the abnormal and unnatural organisms can take out millions of those organisms in the "normal group" that are not entrapped in a Darwinian-style mindset.

Reason enough for the EU's decision, a decision which is providing a perfect model for the approach which should be taken when dealing with any among abnormal and unnatural groups (whether a pandemic is raging or not) as well as when dealing with fanatics, those asleep, and those absorbed in their false selves and driven by the insane agendas of those false selves.

THE EXPLANATION

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.

"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

--Yeshu'a (Jesus)

and 

"Heaven and hell are not geographic places

but are states of mind, nothing more than

concepts dreamed up by men."

--Pope John Paul II 

"There is no hell."

--Pope Francis, the current pope

in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,

a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record

teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium. 

[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.

And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?

Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?

The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.

The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]

FANATICISM AMONG RELIGIOUS, SPIRITUAL, AND EVEN NON-DUAL SEEKERS AS WELL

By virtue of their numbers alone - with 97% on the planet's population claiming a religious affiliation - religions are hands down the most plentiful disseminators of widespread, duality-based nonsense and are the most copious initiators of fanaticism, politics coming in second (though the line between the two has all but disappeared as religion-controlled politicians are becoming the new abnormal norm). 

It matters not if one studies what has been generated during the last 1500 to 5000 years by Hindus, Jews, Christians, Muslims, etc. It will be seen by any objective witness that, combined, they have accounted for stirring up more fanaticism than any single institution in history. 

Yet religions and all other such sky cults hold no monopoly in churning out fanatics and their fanatical thoughts and words and actions. 

Non-religious but "spiritual" sources and persons are only slightly less culpable in the spread of fanaticism merely because of their comparatively fewer numbers. 

Those sources can include a plethora of philosophies, ideologies, spiritual movements, spirituality-based "recovery" programs, and groups and organizations with belief systems focused on ethereal and unearthly and supernatural concepts and mystical places and mystic Powers. 

Moreover, included among those are all sorts of distorted and bastardized versions of teachings which are misidentified as "non-dual teachings" but are actually anything but that. Yet most of those versions have attracted a host of fanatical followers who are now trapped in the prison of their emotionally-intoxicating monomania. 

One such fanatic visited Maharaj's loft and their encounter was described thusly: 

On one occasion, a youngish visitor, dressed in the traditional ochre robes signifying his allegiance to a certain Hindu sect, with the fires of fanaticism burning in his eyes, expressed his shock that Maharaj would not accept the theory of re-birth, the very bedrock of Hindu philosophy. 

He looked around for moral support but must have been a little dismayed by the indulgent smiles of understanding (but not acquiescence!) from the others. Maharaj looked at the young Sanyasin with a certain amount of sympathy, presumably for his misguided zeal, and said to him in an unusually kind manner: 

This statement of mine about re-birth being absurd is nothing at all. You will be shocked even more if you continue to come here. I do not teach any philosophy, any religion; and I am not concerned with any traditional texts as the basis for my talks. I talk only from direct experience. 

It is not my intention to hurt anybody's feelings. I, therefore, constantly remind people that they are free to walk out if they do not like what they hear. What they would hear from me would be direct truth, as I have experienced it, not as people would like to hear it. 

I am afraid I do not cater to people's concepts. 

As for the "monomania" mentioned above, it is a mental disorder which is marked by an exaggerated or obsessive enthusiasm for - or preoccupation with - one thing and it is always marked by obsession, fixation, consuming passion, and compulsion. 

It derives from the Greek word "monos" ("one") and refers to the "madness" or "frenzy" which has developed and festered and become a mental and emotional malignancy as the result of an extreme obsession and preoccupation which has developed in regards to one person or power or Power or issue or belief.

What an irony that the most mad and most frenzied are so delusional that they believe that they are actually the most stable and clear-seeing among the planet's entire human population. 

They are not unlike the drunk who is told by a bartender, "I cannot serve you any more alcohol. You are too intoxicated already" to which the typical drunk often replies, "I am not intoxicated, so shut the hell up and pour me another drink!" 

Fanatics and obsessives and extremists and militant activists are - like that drunk - usually in total denial about their mental state. Let's revisit one fellow who is typical of the right-wing fanatics in the U.S. nowadays.

Tell this guy . . .

that he is not so much mad as he is suffering from acute madness, 

that his intense rage is evidence of tremendous ignorance and a severe case of stupidity and is the product of unchecked, unwarranted pride and arrogance and malignant narcissism, 

that he is frenzied and mentally unstable and, possibly, totally insane 

and

that he is trapped in a state of emotional intoxication

and you would likely become the newest object of his crazed hatred and fury and wrath. 

So it is when dealing with fanatics.

How much fun do you suppose it would be to hang out around that guy?

Eventually, contact and dealings with fanatics always ends up being a lose-lose proposition.
