The Hidden Agendas of Those Playing the Phony Roles of "The Super Religious One" and / or "The Spiritual Giant" 

Since the first day that the first couple handed over their virginal daughter to a priest in order to be sacrificed in the first Communion Service - and continuing right up to this very day - the agenda of humans dealing with gods and goddesses or "The One God" . . . the motive of those dealing with gods and goddesses or "The One God" . . . was to get a payoff. 

What was - and is - the perceived payoff? To have their desires met and / or to have their fears alleviated. 

Maharaj explained: "The desire for bliss creates pain. Thus bliss becomes the seed of pain. The entire universe of pain is born of desire." 

What was feared and what was being desired in the case of the virginal daughter offered up to have sex with a priest and to then have him cut her heart from her body and eat the flesh and drink the blood and then pass the heart through the crowd and let all enter into communion with a particular god by also eating the body and the blood together? What was feared in those earliest cases was crop failure and starvation. 

Once persons mastered agricultural skills to some degree, then many previously-nomadic tribes settled into communities. They believed that they would not have to forage for food but could settle down and raise their own food. 

When it rained, the community gathered at a temple that usually looked something, like this 

and expressed gratitude to the Rain God for the rain which was allowing their corn crop to flourish. ("Attaboy, God. You're doing a great job. Keep it up! Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!! Say what? Flooding out the villages downstream? So what?! To hell with them!")

During times of drought, however, they would gather at the temple and pray to the obviously-angry Rain God or beseech him or whine to him or beg him or plead with him or try to enter into a deal with him to satisfy him in order to appease him and inspire him to bring rain. 

The association of "sacrifice" and "god pleasing" is ancient, so the self-appointed priests came up with a plan which was most appealing to them: If a male is angry, what can appease him? Sex, of course. 

And since the Rain God was obviously angry and since the priest was the representative on god on earth, then the priest would have sex with a virgin and that should help appease the Rain God, but a sacrifice and communion with god was still required; thus came about the vampirism and cannibalism associated with the earliest communion services and with modern day communion services as well. 

Most of the temples had an "inner sanctum" (an especially "holiest among holy places" which only the priest could enter). That was usually where priests had sex with the virgins before bringing them out and placing their bodies on a stone table / altar where their beating heart would be cut from their body. (See the blood red section in the following picture): 

Maharaj said: "Desire is the memory of pleasure and fear is the memory of pain. Both make the mind restless." 

The experience here has been as Maharaj predicted: "You will receive everything you need when you stop asking for what you do not need." 

To the contrary, what - for over 5000 years or more - was wanted and / or feared by those praying to gods or beseeching gods or whining to gods or begging gods or pleading with gods or trying to enter into deals with gods? And what are some of the typical motives nowadays? 

The desire to have god intervene for the sake of their business and save the source of their income. 

The desire to claim "We are all sinners who are constantly sinning, so we must ask God to forgive our sins and restore our purity in order to assure we receive rewards now and forevermore." (That allows persons to do what they like to other persons and then ask for forgiveness and have their "clean slate restored" and then move on to more sinning, ad infinitum.)

To interrupt the laws of nature and save the lives of friends or relatives whose internal organs are worn out and who are dying. 

To send providers, persons who will take care of them and provide food and clothing and shelter so they do not have to do that for themselves. 

To control nature and pray away storms which are headed at their communities and redirect them to hit other areas and other people. 

To take away their desire to abuse substances which are no longer helping them cope the way those substances seemingly did at certain points in the past. 

To allow them to defeat the people or nations identified by political leaders as "the enemy" and to protect their children going off to war against those who are supposedly threatening them. 

The primary addiction among humankind is the addiction to control - weather, people, places, circumstances, etc. - and the secondary addiction among humankind is the addiction to power (or to a Power) in order to be able to control. 

The items of the list of what persons want to control is infinite, is endless, but Maharaj reminded seekers that . . .

"When desire and fear end, bondage also ends. It is the emotional involvement, the pattern of likes and dislikes which we call character and temperament, that create the bondage. Don't be afraid of freedom from desire and fear. It enables you to live a life so different from all you know, so much more intense and interesting, that truly by losing all you gain all."

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence. 

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of God in the past was of a weak God, an absentee God, A Santa Claus-type God, a mean, punishing, vindictive God, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring God whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to." 

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a God that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly"). 

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring God,' any supposed God that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'God' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part. 

"That is, a non-narcissistic god / goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'God' and focus on the 'God as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on: 

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within" 

and 

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."

The Purging of All Sense of WHO-NESS 

During the years when Maharaj began to abandon the obligations he had been feeling because of his entrapment in guru-bhakti, and as he began to shift away from bhakti – all the while longing to focus on the Nisarga Yoga alone – he experienced tremendous pushback and blowback from the religious persons in his environment. 

As his sharings moved more toward jnani-yoga and towards sharings which attracted more Westerners who were looking for an understanding via “Eastern teachings,” the pushback and blowback from religious persons increased. 

Then, when he determined that the spirituality-based sharings which he was offering to Westerners were not bringing about any true understanding, he began advising seekers to give up spirituality, too. 

He also set forth his declaration of independence from the earlier attachment to Self-Inquiry and advised seekers that "it is enough to know who you are not.” More blowback and pushback followed. 

To be willing to study the evidence and the facts, and to then be willing to admit that what one had been teaching was totally misguided, can only happen in the absence of ego identification and egotism. Maharaj did it, though, and stood firm against the continuing blowback and pushback. 

Same here. 

And be assured that at each point when the old was set aside and the new was tried as a possibly-effective version of the Ultimate Medicine, there was not just resistance from seekers and observers. There was also some internal resistance experienced: “The old is not working. Something different must be tried. Do you have the wherewithal to persevere in offering something different in face of the continuing – as well as the pending – blowback and pushback?" 

Then the questions were asked of “self” (actually, of "selves”) which are now also asked of those clinging to old beliefs which had already been seen to be bogus. 

The questions were asked in terms of the “WHO’s,” that is, "Who – which ego-state” is involved, is trying to influence, is fighting for its perceived but totally counterfeit and phony beingness? The questions asked of self, which visitors are now invited to ask of themselves include these: 

1. WHO finds the pointers here objectionable? 

2. WHO finds the suggestion of living naturally - rather than unnaturally or supernaturally - objectionable? 

3. WHO objects to Maharaj’s assertion that it is not really a requirement to know the Supreme Self? 

4. WHO objects to his declaration that he gave up all interest in the Supreme Self? 

5. WHO objects to his declaration that it is enough to know only who you are not? 

6. WHO that is sane can find even a single legitimate objection to abiding naturally? 

7. WHO that is sane would question the invitation to stop all the nonsense and just abide unnaturally? 

and 

8. WHO that is sane would question the invitation to stop trying to abide supernaturally and / or religiously and / or spiritually and / or as a Supreme Self and to simply abide naturally instead? 

The answers in each case were, “No one who is sane." Yes, some in what has been “The Land of Thousands of Mirages” for over 5000 years have been exposed to a non-dual message and have been willing to give up their belief in the existence of thousands of gods and goddesses. 

Yet then, they turn right around and accept the notion that . . . “They are God!” or “They are the Supreme!” Could that be taken legitimately as a shift toward clear seeing or logic or reason? Could that state of mind possibly be confused with the condition of having truly been restored to sanity and of truly being free of the insane effects of programming and conditioning and domestication and acculturation and indoctrination and brainwashing? 

WHO could possibly object if they look objectively at the reasons why Maharaj . . . 

abandoned the use of a religious / non-dual version of the Ultimate Medicine; 

abandoned the use of a spiritual / non-dual version of the Ultimate Medicine; 

stopped recommending that years been spent on the task of “finding Self”; 

and 

then recommended merely abiding naturally, just like every other living thing on the planet except for humans? 

No other living thing on the planet has any sense of “WHO-ness”; on the other hand, humans have very little sense at all except for their sense of WHO-ness. 

Maharaj made clear that persons were not created by god but that god was dreamed up by persons. They made it up. They came up with their own conception which is just that - a mere conception. To "turn one’s life and will over" to the care of an accumulation of mind conceptualizations and personality identifications (while thinking that one is turning her or his will and care over to some dreamed up power or Power beyond) is about as far out-of-touch with the reality of the AM-ness as possible. 

As far as "the Reality of the THAT-ness," post-manifestation there will be no “one” to know either “Reality” or “THAT.” As Maharaj explained, “If you were never born once, you most assuredly cannot be born again.” 

Post-manifestation, the elements shall merge with the universal pool of elements; the air shall merge with the universal pool of air; and the conscious-energy shall merge with the universal pool of awareness-energy which can be aware of nothing if not manifested. 

payoff for playing the “good” roles (or even “The Great Role”) which they are playing; to see when one is being driven through life by a belief in mirages; and to get real . . . now. Then, kick back and take it easy, like all every other no-mind, no-identity living thing on the planet except for humans.

DETACHMENT DISORDER 

Various indicators of the presence of this disorder can include withdrawal; fear; sadness; or irritability that is not readily explained; a style of abidance marked by listlessness; showing no response if comfort is offered; a failure to smile; being totally self-absorbed and antisocial; or refusing to engage in social interactions. 

The other tools used with this disorder: denial of facts; and denial “reality”; a preoccupation with “Reality only”; and distorting or escaping truth and reality by putting a “spin” or “twist" on all relative events. 

The attitude of persons functioning / dysfunctioning in that way: “Come! Join me! Okay, actually, don’t join me, but if you want what I have, then you must model what I am doing”: 

When the detachment disorder manifests among those who have been exposed to one version or another of the so-called "non-dual message," then the I AM THAT part of the summative statement of non-duality is supposedly focused upon while the I AM part  is completely ignored. When that happens, persons claim to be "in touch with Reality," but the fact is that they are in touch with neither reality nor Reality. 

OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE PERSONALITY DISORDER 

The Obsessive–Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCD) is another mental disorder which characterizes the psyche of those obsessing over their religiosity or their spirituality or the "Self." "Obsessions" are thoughts which recur and persist despite efforts to ignore or confront them. Eventually, after persons obsess long enough, they will be driven to act out compulsively. 

Most compulsive behaviors are rooted in the subconscious agenda of assumed identities, are driven by the fears and desires of personalities which always eventually leave persons on the defensive, and which can - in turn - drive such types into an offensive mode or into deep levels of psychosis. 

How many seekers have spent decades in their seeking; on a “path”; wrapped up in their “journey”; absorbed in their “recovery process”; developing new dependencies on persons or groups; and being proud of being different from as a result of having found their “Supreme Self” or becoming “God”? Those are all indicators of the presence of OCD. 

And how many in Mumbai who are like them are going a daily basis into a room which contains a small quantity of the ashes of “Maharaj,” scooped up by a sufferer of spiritual OCD? It is in that room where other OCD types gather daily to bow and to chant in the presence of those ash elements. Were he present and able, Maharaj would kick them out of that room and toss the ashes into the river. OCD out the wazoo. 

In light of all that, what is endorsed here? This: living in a totally Nisargan (all-natural) mode, a mode which is unadulterated by programming, which is untainted by conditioning, which has not been warped by way of acculturation, which is no longer touched by the effects of domestication, which has not been modified by indoctrination, and which has not been contaminated by brainwashing. 

In short, it is the same mode of abidance which is adhered by every living thing on the planet except for modern-day humans. The reason for that difference? Only modern humans are trying to navigate through the relative existence on a daily basis with the disadvantage of the major handicap called “the mind” which now hampers and impedes and hamstrings persons from behaving in a free and natural and normal manner; 

instead, in such cases, the mind leaves them in a state of being impaired by a near-countless array of impediments and hindrances and obstacles and barriers and obstructions and constraints and blockages (which is exactly what is always generated by the nonsensical beliefs which have been accumulated in the minds of the masses).

DISSOCIATION 

In psychology, the term "dissociation" describes a wide array of experiences from (1) mild detachment from immediate surroundings to (2) more severe detachment from physical and emotional experiences. 

The major characteristic of all dissociative phenomena involves a detachment from reality, rather than a loss of reality (as in psychosis). Dissociative experiences are further characterized by a variety of maladaptive mental constructions rooted in an individual's imagination. 

Levels of dissociation can be charted along a continuum. In mild cases, dissociation can be regarded as a coping mechanism or a defense mechanism in seeking to master, minimize or tolerate stress or boredom or conflict. 

Toward the more pathological end of the continuum, dissociation can describe common events such as daydreaming while driving a vehicle, but further along the continuum, there can be so-called “altered states of consciousness” which are highly touted among some Eastern seekers or Westerners who would be like Eastern seekers. The more accurate term in such cases would be "warped or blocked states of consciousness and unconsciousness." 

Dissociative disorders are sometimes triggered by trauma but may be preceded by stress, by the use and abuse of psychoactive substances, by no identifiable trigger at all, or by trying to follow a “path” to “Realization” which has subsequently gone horribly awry (often as a result of the nonsense heard and accepted as presented by those whom Maharaj warned seekers to stay away from, namely, those he referred to as “Big Name Teachers.” Why? 

Because they are “popular,” and since persons who make up the populous are almost all trapped in the Ultimate Sickness, then the fact that those teachers are being followed and endorsed by the masses who are trapped in ignorance and insanity is hardly a viable endorsement.) 

More pathological dissociation involves dissociative disorders, including a depersonalization disorder with or without alterations in personal identity or sense of self (which is not about denying that false identities should be discarded but rather involves giving any validity to valid elements of the AM-ness, to valid elements of the present relative existence). These alterations can include: a sense that self or the world is unreal; 

forgetting identity or assuming a new self (fugue) or a New Supreme Self; and fragmentation of identity or self into separate streams of consciousness which produces suffering as a result of developing multiple personality disorders or accepting "a good or great identity" to replace "not-as-good or even bad identities." 

Again, the psychological understanding of this mental phenomenon does not preempt the discarding of all false identities and false selves. 

When such misperceptions and distortions manifest, not as what is taken to be “the understanding” but which manifest as a result of being driven by non-neurotypical thinking because of misunderstanding, then whatever “benefit” one might think he or she has attained will prove to be a major liability in terms of transitioning throughout the remainder of the manifestation of consciousness and the remainder of the relative existence. 

[Not that the Neurotypical Syndrome is to be “preferred” either, for it, too, is a serious mental disorder affecting many nowadays. Symptoms include inflated ego, mob formation, and a readiness and willingness to follow unquestioningly the suggestions which come from those trapped in the symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness which Maharaj identified as “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity.”]

THE EXPLANATION 

If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence. 

Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of God in the past was of a weak God, an absentee God, A Santa Claus-type God, a mean, punishing, vindictive God, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring God whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to." 

The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a God that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly"). 

Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring God,' any supposed God that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'God' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part. 

"That is, a non-narcissistic god / goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'God' and focus on the 'God as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you." 

Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on: 

"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within" 

and 

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."
