Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.
Furthermore, for those who have developed a preference for any non-nisargan yoga or who prefer Traditional Advaita Vedanta, Neo-Advaita, Neo-Vedanta, or Pseudo Advaita: here you will only find the use of the Direct Path Method of teaching along with the Nisarga (Natural) Yoga, all shared in simple, everyday English.
F.: There are several places on the "path" where seekers hit a wall full on and come to an immediate stop; ironically, the walls are raised by the seeker, most specifically, by lingering ego-states (and, therefore, lingering egotism).
Specifically, if even a single ego-state remains, then egotism will also remain, and when egotism is present, it is that egotism which will erect the wall(s). As if the culture has not set up enough blockages on the "path" away from the self and to the Self and beyond, the ego and egotism of the seeker erects even more walls along the way.
The first place on the "path" where most become totally entrenched is at the "religious and / or spiritual step." Most who arrive at that point believe that they have finally found it all, that they finally know it all. They believe they are so much better, better than they were, and better than others who do not "have" what they think they "have."
Thus, you can hear them say, "On my way to the church (temple, mosque, whatever) this morning, I saw people out jogging. It was so sad that they are not here to find what we have found here"; or, "This program is not just for people with our problems - this program would help everyone on the planet and make them all better."
The next place on the "path" where ego(s) and egotism erect a wall is at the Child Ignorance or Child Not Knowing Stage. At the "mind" step, it was easy enough to give lip service to the supposed recognition of the nonsense and insanity of the culture that has been stored in the "mind."
But to truly abandon all beliefs and concept and ideas, to truly accept without doubt that everything one has been told or taught or now believes is false ... well, that's another matter for most persons (i.e., the non-Realized).
In the online course, the early reading materials offer hundreds and hundreds of examples of commonly-held beliefs that are shown to be false. The only justification for reading about all of those instances is to set the groundwork for rejecting everything that has been told or taught or accepted as fact.
But lip service does not generate the total purge required to be free of all of the content of the "mind"; thus, the resistance at the Child Ignorance Step, including the arrogance-inspired clinging to the "mind," the defensiveness when faced with the invitation to abandon all beliefs and concepts and ideas, the resistance to the suggestion to engage in less talk and more silence, etc.
While the talk at the "mind" stage was about "seeing all of the lies," at the Child Not Knowing Step where all knowledge (a.k.a., "learned ignorance") is to be abandoned, up goes the wall. There is resistance, often stubborn resistance, which reveals that the step has not been entered into completely and that all of the content of the "mind" has not been seen to be false and, therefore, to be ignored.
Some seekers are willing to cast aside some ideas, but others they cling to. If the teacher offers examples of commonly-held beliefs and then offers proof that disproves those beliefs, then the most that many seekers are willing to do is to begin a one-concept-at-a-time investigation to disprove one belief at a time.
That will prove to be a totally futile effort. What must happen is this:
An objective seeker might see time and again that she / he was fooled, but Realization will never happen if the approach is to uncover one bogus belief at a time; that investigative process could go on for the entirety of the manifestation and never be completed.
What is required to stop all of that investigating and challenging is the “Ah Ha!” “Holy Smoke!” “Eureka” moment of enlightenment when all that has been learned and that is believed is truly seen to be false and useless.
That moment can follow years of effort as a seeker considers and studies one “sacred cow” concept that is finally seen to be false, followed by the investigation of another dearly-held concept that is proved by fact or logic or reason to have been false, ad infinitum.
As noted, the problem with that getting-rid-of-one-concept-at-a-time-approach is that no relative existence is nearly long enough to allow for the necessary total purge when discarding only one idea at a time. There must be instead the “Ah Ha!” moment of seeing that is accompanied by a spark of awareness that sets off the mental gunpowder that blows away all of the content of the "mind" in one fell swoop.
With that explosion (called "the moment of peripetia" in literature and drama) it is instantly realized that it was ALL an illusion, ALL a lie. The belief in any and all concepts and lies and ideas and dualities is instantaneously blown away, and that is the last time any disappointment over seeing an illusion to have been an illusion will happen and it is the last time that any invitation to be free of the "mind" will be ignored.
Then, the Child Not Knowing Step can be entered into completely. Yet even then, three more steps remain on the "path" that must be completed, so some ask, "How can the use of thorns to remove thorns suddenly end at that point. How can the use of the 'working mind' - employed to take pointers into silent consideration - suddenly end?"
That will be explained in detail tomorrow, but for now, consider:
It's all really very simple. As noted in last Thursday's post, eventually, nothing is used - there being no "user" to use anything. The "religious person," the "spiritual person," the "seeker," the "user," the "do-er" - all of those personas were to have been cast aside at the end of the third step.
No "user," even of the "working mind"? No, no "user" because it has been seen that there is no user and nothing to be used and nothing that is useful. Recall:
Maharaj: "The Ultimate state ... is that state where no needs are felt at any time, where nothing is useful for anything."
If all ego-states and roles were not discarded at that point, then additional consideration is required of the seeker. Maharaj said that, after the thorns have been used by the teacher," ... the confirming action is up to [the seeker]."
If the teacher has left nothing in writing, then the student is dependent on her / his recollection of the pointers offered in order to pursue the confirming action. That will seldom be effective, unreliable "memory" being relied upon in that approach. If the teacher has left pointers in writing, then those can assist in bringing about the confirming action, after which they also will be "of no use."
Yet the battle in defense of the "mind" can go on forever, guaranteeing that Full Realization will never happen. The same factors that made life miserable before (the ignorance of mind-based ego and egotism) will be the same factors that block acceptance of the teachings / un-teachings and that can forever defend the fiction-filled "mind."
Yet it must be asked: could any reasonable person believe that the "mind" - the very seat of duality among persons - could be the primary tool to use in the search for understanding non-duality?
The "mind" knows nothing that is true. The inner guru knows all that is true. Only if belief in the "mind" ends can the inner resource become aware of what the pure, unblocked consciousness allows the inner resource to register.
The believer in the "mind" wants to trust in the "mind" as the tool that will access the inner resource, that will trigger the resonance that happens when an accurate pointer to Truth is heard, and that will lead to a recognition of Truth and an understanding of the functioning of the totality.
How amazing that persons believe that
** an illusion-filled storehouse of lies and distortions and
** the actual repository of the obstacles that have blocked access to the inner guru
and
** the actual source that had convinced the non-Realized that lies are Truth
is going to be the vehicle that moves the seekers to final and ultimate understanding.
Is it any wonder that so few will ever realize, so proud they are of the "mind" and its content, no matter how illusory that "mind" is and no matter how bogus its content is and no matter how many times it has served poorly the person being manipulated by its bogus content?

If the seat of lies can reveal Truth, then over-eating can lead to thinness, a drought can generate wetness, and ignorance can produce wisdom.
Want to fight this part of the teaching? Want to rebel against the notion of mindlessness, though it has been the human condition for 99.99% of the time that such forms have walked the earth?
Help yourself, but with that stance, you will never come close to finding the Self nor that which is beyond the Self nor anything even close to the Truth.
