F.: "Samskaras" are mental impressions, memories (a.k.a., "vasana": "residual impressions"). All mental impressions are bogus for they are perceived via the warped consciousness that cannot see clearly as a result of blockages; moreover, all memories are bogus for that reason and for this one as well:

The Realized abide in the Now, in the moment, freed of the delusions of the concepts of "past" and "present." Because all memories have nothing to do with NOW, they must have been formed in the pre-Realization days, and in the pre-Realization days, nothing was seen clearly, nothing was perceived accurately, and nothing was understood totally.

Therefore, any memory of anything in the past (in pre-Realization periods) must - by default - be a memory that is unclear, that is a misperception, that is rooted in misunderstanding, and that is a false impression.

Maharaj has this to say on the subject: "Onto the screen of the mind destiny forever projects its pictures, memories of former projections and thus illusion constantly renews itself. The pictures come and go — light intercepted by ignorance. See the light and disregard the picture."

Any memory registered by a fiction-filled mind and by things perceived erroneously must also be fiction and must also be erroneous. Some claim, "But I am experiencing the memory now!"

First, there is no "one" to experience anything. Secondly, what did Maharaj say in that regard?

M.: "We consider memories only when they come into the present. The forgotten is not counted until one is reminded which implies bringing into the now."

Yet can a bogus belief or idea or notion or impression from that past that is brought into the now suddenly and miraculously be not-bogus? No, for the memories were based in imaginings.

M.: "Imagination based on memories is unreal."

See, all of that is about things subjective, not objective. Objective information follows analysis. Objective information is fact-based, measurable and observable. Subjective information, on the other hand, is based on personal opinions, interpretations, points of view, emotions and judgment.

Maharaj explained it most accurately in this exchange:

M.: "Everything is subjective, but the real is objective."

Questioner: "In what sense?"
M: "It does not depend on memories and expectations, desires and fears, likes and dislikes. All is seen as it is."

I have been told: "You are as involved with memory as anyone. You remember the teachings; you remember how you came to understanding and tell others about that."

Maharaj would clarified that erroneous conclusion this way: "In realization there is nothing to hold on to and nothing to forget. Everything is known, nothing is remembered"

and

"I am free of memories and anticipations, unconcerned with what I am and what I am not."

Next, it is the handicap called "the mind" that sets the stage for its content (including bogus nonsense and learned ignorance) to serve as the habitat of personalities; they, in turn, determine all thoughts and words and actions according to their divergent - and usually contradictory and conflicting - agendas.

The mind is filled with beliefs, and it is only via the abandonment of all beliefs that clarity and stability and freedom and peace can come (a.k.a., a state of "zero concepts" and no-minded-ness). When memories of past events (which are always based in misperceptions) are stored therein, they shall curse the present.

So how do memories drive emotional intoxication in the present? Maharaj taught: "The main point to grasp is that you have projected onto yourself a world of your own imagination, based on memories, on desires and fears, and that you have imprisoned yourself in it. Break the spell and be free."

Take for example a cousin of mine who at a young age watched his mother lie in bed and suffer the excruciating pain and misery of bone cancer for years. As an adult now, each time his wife has become even slightly ill, he overreacts in the most drastic manner.

(While some of her illnesses - such as antibiotic-requiring infections - are based in fact, she is a Personality Type Two who suffers the Factitious Disorder. For her, the attention-on-her-alone visits to a doctor are a highlight of her day. For people to come swarming and focus on only her reinforces her behavior, creating a "payoff" for sickness.)

What that cousin does not see is that his reactions are not rooted in the present experiences of his spouse but are rooted in the memory-based beliefs of a child. His conclusion drawn during a childhood involving a truly ill mother was that her eventual death was the most tragic event that had ever occurred.

The fact: she begged for death; when the visiting physician suggested that her remaining days could probably be numbered with two digits or less, she relished the possibility that an end to her misery and suffering was imminent.

Yet the child had a far different perception that would engender far different perspectives around illness and "death" for the remainder of his relative existence, and those mental impressions formed early on still drive his thoughts and words and actions and fears around such concepts as "loss," "death" and what is "good" and what is "bad."

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU

F.: Most persons nowadays divide the various types of maladies that people can suffer from as "physical," "mental," and "emotional" (as well as what some even call the "spiritual malady").

Because that which is in "the mind" can affect the body - and that which is in the body can affect how persons feel mentally and emotionally - most will never find the cause of their uncomfortable or painful or miserable symptoms.

At this very moment, billions of humans on the planet are extremely ill - both mentally and emotionally - and they do not even know it; in fact, they do not have the slightest clue that they have a major problem, much less what (in most cases) their real problem is.

Some might seek out a diagnosis from doctors regarding their pain, their dis-ease, their anxiety, etc., and they will be given prescriptions for drugs that only address their symptoms (and simultaneously generate dozens more ill side effects).

Some might seek out a diagnosis from psychologists (who will typically only talk about the symptoms of their problems, though advancements are allowing some to offer effective treatment for causes) or from psychiatrists (who will typically prescribe psychotropic drugs to address their patients' symptoms but that do nothing about cause).

Some might seek help from religious leaders who will misdiagnosis their problems and offer a totally-ineffective dogma-based "remedy."

Some might seek help from "spiritual" guides or sponsors or gurus or untrained members of self-help groups or recovery programs, most of whom will misdiagnose their Sickness as "a spiritual malady" that can be addressed with "spiritual exercises."

But the fact remains that today, the lives of over 150,000 humans around the globe will end, and over fifty-four million lives will have ended during the past year. The question to ask about those millions is: "How many of those persons ever even heard of 'the Ultimate Sickness' which rendered them insane, destructive, self-destruction, and self-defeating, much less were offered the Ultimate Medicine?"

Furthermore, how many who went to doctors or psychologists or psychiatrists or religious leaders or "spiritual" guides or sponsors or gurus or untrained members of self-help groups or recovery programs were ever provided with a diagnosis of the CAUSES of their issues rather than having their SYMPTOMS focused upon?

If you are a seeker - be that a seeker of Realization, of physical health, of mental health, of emotional health, of freedom from anger or stress or anxiety or whatever you think might be ailing you - you are invited to change the focus of your search for answers.

The invitation: seek among those that can treat CAUSE, not among those who only deal with SYMPTOMS. Regards.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU

EXAMPLES of MISDIAGNOSES OF MENTAL AILMENTS AND THUS INCORRECT TREATMENTS (Continued)

F.: Whether the people who are offering an opinion about what another's sickness is - or about what their own sickness is - (be they doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, twelve-steppers, friends, spouses, relatives, people self-diagnosing themselves, people diagnosing others, etc.), the fact is that the conclusions being drawn most often result in a misdiagnosis;

therefore, most persons are never receiving the treatment required to address their real issues, including personality disorders, neuroses, psychoses, etc. All that is being discussed in most cases are the symptoms, not the causes. The most prevalent problem globally is the Ultimate Sickness, and the treatment required is the Ultimate Medicine. Yet for most, the Ultimate Sickness is being misdiagnosed as the "Ultimate Symptom," so most will never get well.

To stop the symptoms, one must stop the illness / Sickness at its source.

Some say, "You are so wrong about that. I have a guru (or I have a sponsor) who promises me that - if I become spiritual and remain spiritual by doing my spiritual exercises on a daily basis - then I shall be happy and joyous and free." The man mentioned earlier, the one in a twelve-step group, said, "I'm doing the work I'm doing to get the promise of being happy and joyous and free." The order of their promised benefits is significant. Consider:

Two men are in a desert, staggering through the sand and dying of thirst. They have been disappointed each time they thought they saw an oasis, only to find out it was a mirage. Finally, they see an actual oasis. At that point in the story, I asked one man, "So are they happy or joyous or free?"

The reply: "All three." The answer shows an erroneous conclusion drawn as a result of his misdiagnosis of their problem and the required solution (along with his conditioning to repeat everything he has heard in his group as if he were a member of Parrots Anonymous).

The facts are these:

1. The sense of joy at seeing the oasis is a "pink cloud" state of emotional intoxication. Their condition is not one bit improved as a result of what they are seeing and what they are feeling (or emoting over).

2. Only if they drink the water are they then free ... free of thirst ... free of that which was going to lead to an end of that which had come together to form two elemental plant food bodies.

3. Only then is their thirst satisfied; only then are they happy.

(When discussing "what bliss is and what bliss is not," the point in offered via this example that "being satisfied" is far more suitable for those that would abide in a stable manner than "being joyous.")

"Being satisfied" is a condition that can be sustained and that will allow for the manifestation of stability. "Being joyous" can be likened to "being high," and "being high" will always manifest alongside its dualistic, counterpart condition, namely, "being low"; thus, no stability.

"Being joyous" or "being high" is a condition rooted in emotional intoxication, and emotional intoxication is a condition that can only happen when identified with an ego-state.

The Realized feel, but they do not emote.

So, even seekers are not exempt from misdiagnosing their condition and trying to determine what "the proper condition" should be - and what it "should be like."

Some have written here to explain that the benefit of drug use should be shared with site visitors so they understand what is required to move them to a "higher plane of consciousness" and "mind expansion."

Consciousness is energy, and just like the types of energy that are called "lightning" or "electricity," there are no higher or lower differentiations in those two; similarly, there is but one type of consciousness - one level of consciousness - and it is either blocked or not.

Next, the mind does not need "expanding." It needs contracting. It needs continuous shrinking until the point of "zero concepts" and zero beliefs is reached (which are the markers of the point at which one is mindless - freed from the bogus content of "the mind" that has been accumulated for years and that has been unconsciously driving every thought and word and action for decades).

For the seeker that would be conscious, awake, and (ultimately) fully aware, many drugs can prevent the reaching of those conditions, but no drug will advance one's efforts to reach those conditions (users' "beliefs" to the contrary notwithstanding.)

In the situations described above, both mental and emotional sicknesses / Sicknesses and misdiagnoses are involved, resulting - as always - in (a) incorrect treatments that (b) the prevention of restoration to physical wellness, emotional stability, mental health and sanity.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU

F.: EXAMPLES of MISDIAGNOSES OF MENTAL AILMENTS AND THUS INCORRECT TREATMENTS (Continued)

[Again, the relevance? There is not likely anyone on the planet who has not been addicted to something or who is not currently addicted to something; however, there are many more who are behaving as addicts behave without having the Addictive Personality Disorder; hence, their misery and suffering will continue as a result of misdiagnosis and the subsequent ineffective treatment, all of which ignores the pre-existing condition called "the Ultimate Sickness" which the non-dual teachings could possibly address.]

F.: (Continuing with the exchange during a recent visit with a young man who has joined NA and is focused on addiction and alcohol and drug abuse

All moves in this order among humans: from MIND to WORD to ACTIONS / BEHAVIORS.

Crazy behavior, therefore, will always be preceded by crazy talk, and crazy talk will always be preceded by a crazy mind.

Next, understand that a crazy mind is rooted in PERSONALITY, so the typical scenario around the globe is:

1. there is first a no-knowing child with no assumed identity, no learned knowledge, and no beliefs (a.k.a., no "learned ignorance"); no judging; no sense of separation; of different-from-ment; of better-than-ment

2. then comes exposure to insanity via programming, conditioning, acculturation, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing, and indoctrination

3. next comes the formation of PERSONALITY in response to the ignorance and insanity that all children are exposed to

4. a MIND comes about as "learned ignorance" is stored in the brain

5. there is the acquisition of the ability to speak, followed by MIND-inspired TALK

6. then come ACTIONS / BEHAVIORS that are rooted in the learned ignorance stored in the MIND.

The reason, therefore, that the sages of all ages have encouraged the recognition of - and discarding of - all of the personalities that are one's driving thoughts and words and actions is because the ultimate movement among humans involves this:

MIND and PERSONALITY to WORDS to ACTIONS / BEHAVIORS.

With all personality adoption comes the possibility for personality disorders to form, and with the formation of personality comes the setup to disintegrate to the lowest levels of an unhealthy psyche; to develop grave mental and emotional disorders; for grave personality disorders to develop into psychoses; and for full-blown mental illness / insanity to manifest.

All of that is perpetuated by dual-mindedness. Recall that one non-duality teacher reportedly pointed to that fact with this statement: "A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways."

So consider the nine basic personality types and note than many humans are driven early on by three and four and five and six different personalities; note also that eventually persons can assume 80 or more personas as identities, and then note the disorders that often manifest with each:

TYPE 1

OCD, Depressive PD, Narcissism

TYPE 2

Histrionic PD (Emotional Intoxication), the Factitious P.D., Narcissism P.D., Somatization P.D.

TYPE 3

Narcissistic P.D., Histrionic P.D.

TYPE 4

Avoidant P.D., Depressive P.D., Narcissistic P. D., Histrionic P.D., Masochistic P.D. and Borderline P.D.

TYPE 5

Schizoid Avoidance P.D., Schizotypal P.D.

TYPE 6

Passive-Aggressive P.D., Paranoid P.D., Dependent P.D., some Avoidance P.D.

TYPE 7

Addictive P.D., Bipolar P.D., Histrionic P.D., Hypomanic Episodes, Narcissistic P.D.

TYPE 8

Antisocial / Sociopathic P. D., Pathological P.D., Sadistic P.D.

TYPE 9

Schizoid P.D., Dependent P.D., Passive-Aggressive P.D., Dissociative P.D.

Now, back to those who believe that their problem is drugs and / or alcohol:

It should now be clear that the real issue of those behaving in a manner driven by their Addictive Personality Disorder has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol or power or sex or love or shopping or nicotine or food or money or work, ad infinitum

The problem has to do with the pre-existing Ultimate Sickness which is, in turn, rooted in the programming, conditioning, acculturation, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing, and indoctrination to which they have been subjected.

Now, to return to the common misdiagnosis that happens to many who enter 12-step groups or other "programs" (i.e., places that program and re-program rather than de-program) or "self-help groups" (which help form more false selves) in an effort to address their problems which are thought to be rooted in their Addictive Personality Disorder.

Recall the belief referenced earlier: "If you walked through our doors, you're an addict." [So, there's another persona to adopt, one that will also drive thoughts and words and deeds in a nonsensical manner, as all personas do.]

Note that the Personality Type 7 is the type most likely to form the Addictive P.D., but many other personality types have personality disorders that drive persons to exhibit the same thoughts and words and actions of an addict though the Addictive Personality Disorder is not present. The disorders that they can all share in common can include:

OCD, the Depressive PD, Narcissism, the Histrionic PD, the Avoidant P.D., the Masochistic P.D. and the Borderline P.D., the Schizoid-Avoidance P.D., the Schizotypal P.D., the Paranoid P.D., the Bipolar P.D., the Antisocial / Sociopathic P. D., the Pathological P.D., and the Sadistic P.D.

[Note in that short and incomplete list alone that the odds in favor of being misdiagnosed as "An Addict" can be 14 to 1.]

In many cases, personality testing has revealed that persons who are seeking help in a group that has told them they are "An Addict" (or that they are "addicted to alcohol") have actually been shown to have a low Personality Type 7 score but a high 5 and 9 and 4.

The 7 has the addictive personality disorder while the 4 is into escapism, the 5 suffers the schizoid-avoidance personality disorder, and the 9 suffers from the avoidance personality disorder.

The 4 and 5 and 9 combination can result in persons appearing to be addictive, but they all actually require a totally different treatment plan from what the person with an Addictive Personality Disorder needs.

(Of course, the members of NA or any other such groups have no training to address the real issue; hence, the 97% failure rate of 12-step groups around the globe, which is the same rate of failure of most therapists, religious leaders, authors, guides, sponsors, life coaches, etc. who claim that they can treat issues that have not even been properly identified.)

To accept the results of the totally delusional diagnostic tool of "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, then it is a duck" is to be blind and ignorant. The Realized know how appreance is never reality or Reality.

And the use of delusion-based and ineffective diagnostic tools set persons up for disaster, subjecting them to the greatest calamity facing humankind, namely, misdiagnosis of the real cause of their sickness which leads, in turn, to incorrect treatments that prevent restoration to physical wellness, emotional stability, mental health, and sanity.

To be continued.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU

F.: This particular universe that people speak of has been around for nearly 14 billion years. For millions of years, trillions upon trillions and quadrillions upon quadrillions of composite unities (i.e., elemental plant bodies that circulate air and that temporarily house conscious-energy ... identified as "humans" according to the masses) - have come together and come apart (i.e., have been "born" and have "died" according to the masses).

In those millions of years, not a single one of those trillions upon trillions and quadrillions upon quadrillions have existed without some illness or injury or physical or mental or emotional disturbance.*

*As a side note: Recent evidence suggests that even among the earliest, if the body survived the challenges of the first months and years, the average life span of humans lasted far longer than previously thought and the condition of even the elderly was actually fairly healthy ... far healthier than most of the elderly nowadays.

At any rate, "humans" today - no matter the age - are guaranteed to be sick ... physically and mentally and emotionally. And of the sick, the odds are greater than average that their physical ailments will often be misdiagnosed; that there mental illnesses will be misidentified and misdiagnosed; and that their emotional issues will be erroneously characterized and misdiagnosed.

Moreover, the most prevalent illness on the planet today - the Ultimate Sickness - is the least diagnosed sickness of all. (And it is also the least accepted diagnosis, for who that is trapped in the effects of that Sickness want to hear someone such as Maharaj explaining that their Sickness involves "ignorance, stupidity and insanity.")

In instance after instance (including doctors, psychologists, therapists, religious leaders, spiritual leaders, sponsors, guides, coaches, parents, life partners, spouses, and the ill themselves), all will make mistakes in terms of figuring out what is wrong with others or themselves. Almost all - save the Realized - will mess up, will guess wrong, will blunder, will err, and will foul up in trying to determine what is the actual problem (or problems) with others or with themselves.

EXAMPLES of MISDIAGNOSES OF PHYSICAL AILMENTS AND THUS INCORRECT TREATMENTS

Sherry Brescia in "Why To Never Have Your Gall Bladder Removed," said: "Sadly, there are too many people without gallbladders now because of doctors that either don't know or don't care about the consequences of telling patients that 'their gallbladder doesn't do anything,' as well as a medical community so addicted to the billions of dollars that drugs and surgeries bring in."

The naturopathic doctor that I have used for medical advice for a decade has, in the last two months alone, dealt with four people (three under the age of thirty) who have had their gall bladders removed but who are still dealing with digestive problems that are now worse than they were when they went to a doctor with their initial complaints.

On one "Wellness Website," this fact is offered: "Did you know that gallbladder surgery is now the most common surgery in the United States? This means that the gallbladder organ is taken out. Some people have a lot of challenges without their gallbladder, others do not."

In other cases, patients are admitted to the hospital to undergo lithotripsy, a procedure in which untrasound waves are used to break up gallstones. In many cases, what is described as a routine day or two in the hospital turns into weeks when adjacent organs are damaged by exploding stones.

Twelve years ago, a physician wanted to remove my gallbladder. I declined. Ten years ago, a physician wanted to admit me to the hospital to undergo lithotripsy. Both bullets were dogged because a naturopathic doctor had introduced sane and natural alternatives. (As a Nisargan, natural alternatives are always the first consideration in every instance.)

Traditional medicine in the U.S. ignores the fact that various natural methods are available to eliminate gallstones. Over the last decade or more, a gallbladder flush has been used here on three occasions to cleanse the bladder and to end pain and gallbladder under-performance associated with gallstone accumulation. Using a method that was provided by my naturopathic doctor - but that can be found by all via an internet search - some 150 stones were painlessly eliminated the first time, some 100 the second times, and most recently some 70 stones were removed via the same painless method just last month.

No hospital stays, no copays, no bills, no exploding stones, no adjacent-organ damage, no internal hemorrhaging, and no gallbladder removal.

On another occasion many years ago, the actual cause of the most-unpleasant side effects of colon polyps was misdiagnosed, so a doctor treated me for food poisoning; when a second opinion was sought after experiencing no relief, a second doctor treated symptoms only, advising me that I'd "have to ride out the storm because I has viral gastroenteritis"; the third physician eventually consulted began treating me with what would become three rounds of a very strong antibiotic for "a bacterial infection in the GI tract."

After six months of misery which continued because of their misdiagnosis of the actual cause of sickness, as well as a half-year of incorrect treatments, a friend explained that he had suffered the same symptoms as a result of colon polyps.

An out-patient procedure revealed the presence of - and led to the removal of - cancerous, pre-cancerous, and non-cancerous polyps.

[And what of those among the masses who hate, fear, or reject a proper and truthful diagnosis and instead deny (in their ostrich-with-its-head-in-the-sand manner) their own condition? One such said, "Oh my gosh, Floyd. Cancerous and pre-cancerous polyps! That's horrible!" The reply: "No it's wonderful. Finally, after a half-year of misery and pain, the actual cause has been identified so an actually-effective treatment can finally begin." The same perspective is offered nowadays to any who come this way complaining about an accurate diagnosis.]

That doctor's game plan was to repeat the procedure every four months and, thereafter, "biannually for as long as I live."

The game was played three more times but was abandoned as a search for a natural treatment was sought. That led to my being treated by a naturopathic doctor who healed the colon naturally. There has been no formation of cancerous polyps for the last ten years, confirmed during a hospitalization last summer which verified that her methods have indeed been successful in eliminating all cancerous growths.

Thirdly, when I met the head of an emergency room unit many months ago, I asked if there was any truth to what I had read recently, namely, that 180,000 patients die annually in U.S. hospitals as a result of doctor error. He said quietly, "Double that to 360,000 per year, and I'll deny I said that if you quote me by name."

So much for examples of the millions of instances annually of misdiagnosis of physical ailments and the subsequent incorrect treatments that persons are subjected to.

EXAMPLES of MISDIAGNOSES OF MENTAL AILMENTS AND THUS INCORRECT TREATMENTS

I spoke to a young man recently man who went to an NA meeting because a friend diagnosed him as "An Addict." In the meeting, those in attendance agreed that he was an addict because "people who are not addicts don't walk through those doors."

Based in a diagnosis from "a friend" who has no professional training in identifying the mental and emotional issues that drive substance abuse - and as a result of the diagnoses by dozens more who are not trained professionally in identifying the mental and emotional issues behind substance abuse - he has assumed that new identity and is playing the role with vigor (along with playing all of the roles such as Spiritual Giantism that are played at the third of seven-steps on the seven-step "journey" offered here. The third-step roles must be played for a time of the "journey"; so it is).

He is also engaged in all of the talk, talk, talk, along with all of the other nonsense that comes with his newly-assigned and accepted but false identity ... all based in hearsay and speculation and conjecture and assumptions and theories and guesswork and thoughts and beliefs and suppositions by untrained, non-professionals.

Add to that the fact the many so-called "trained professions" are no more accurate than those non-professionals and "The Greatest Calamity Facing Humankind" becomes unmistakable: people are being made more ill - physically and mentally and emotionally - as a result of misdiagnosis. The science of diagnosis has progressed little beyond the ancient "Dark Ages" level.

In an effort to plant a seed, he was asked: "Have you yet heard in your group the common debate in recovery programs, namely, the debate about whether addiction is a disease or an illness"?

He answered, "Oh yes. Often."

The rest of the conversation unfolded thusly:

F.: "And your conclusion is?"

He: "I'm sure it's a disease."

F.: "Are you?"

He: "So what are you saying? You think it's an illness?"

F.: "I do not think, and I most assuredly do not think that addiction is either a disease or an illness."

He: "So what is it?"

F.: "It is a symptom."

He: "A symptom?"

F.: "Yes, a symptom."

[Questioning look.]

F.: "If you would be fully free, you must turn your focus from addiction and drug use to cause. There was a pre-existing condition prior to the use of drugs and your subsequent addiction, an Ultimate Sickness that lead to your eventual symptoms: addiction and drug abuse. They are not the problem. You said you were told the first night with those people that the problem centers in your mind, but that have never been discussed again as the focus has been on your alcohol and drug abuse. But if drugs - or alcohol - were the problem, then what's to be done with those in Overeaters Anonymous? Is food their problem? Must eating end the same way you have been told that drugging and drinking must end? Hardly a viable alternative, is it? See, your problem now is neither addiction nor alcohol nor drug use. Your problem now is misdiagnosed, and an incorrect treatment plan that is guaranteed to be ineffective, long-term, is being suggested. The cause behind your addiction and alcohol and drug abuse is the Ultimate Sickness, and it is that which must be addressed at some point."

[The relevancy? At the present age of 66, I have yet to meet anyone who is not - or was not at some point - addicted to something, be it power, control, chaos (used to fight boredom), drugs, alcohol, food, shopping, work, sex, "love," money, accumulation, sugar, war, escapism, avoidance, ad infinitum. In every one of those cases, the actual pre-existing condition is the Ultimate Sickness.]

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU

In addition to the reasons that people attain certain understandings but report that they have "regressed," or complain that Realization is too far beyond their reach, is because of lingering, distorted beliefs.

For Full Realization to come, all beliefs must go, and that includes concepts / beliefs about:

1. what happiness is and what unhappiness is

2. what joy is and what sorrow is

3. what the difference is between body pleasure and body ecstasy vs. no-mind gladness and mind-free cheerfulness

4. what joy can come via abiding naturally vs. trying to live supernaturally / spiritually / piously and in what is deemed (and dreamed) to be an "all-pure" condition

and, most significantly,

5. what bliss is and what bliss is not.

For additional clarity on the topic, some excerpts from the eBook entitled "WHAT BLISS IS AND WHAT BLISS IS NOT" shall be shared:

WHAT BLISS IS AND WHAT BLISS IS NOT

For more information on this book, or to purchase a copy now, click:

What Bliss Is and What Bliss Is Not
  • [To continue with the excerpts] F.: Over the years, so many have come to complain about the fact that—after all of their seeking—"permanent bliss still has not come."

 • Those who have been asked to define specifically the "bliss" that they seek either parrot some words they have heard but have not understood or parrot the words that were used by "holy men" or "holy books" in order to program them.

 • One of the invitations offered earlier was to "list all of the ways you would define bliss." When that exercise is conducted during Advaita retreats here, it is rare that even one of the responses comes close to identifying bliss as it can happen during the relative existence

 • Most efforts to define what "bliss" is revealed no evidence at all of what the respondents know - what they have come to realize by having tapped into the inner guru - but were a regurgitation of concepts they have collected from such sources as Hinduism or Buddhism:

 • "Bliss is what comes at the end of the cycles of reincarnation when desire and suffering both end."

• "Bliss is liberation from the effects of karmic rebalancing."

 • "Bliss is finally being free from rebirths."

• "Bliss is freedom from pain and suffering." • So it can be seen that even among those reading Advaitin pointers, many seek not the purest messages that Advaita can offer but are seeking a blend of Advaita and other concepts to which they are yet attached.

 • The responses to those statements will be invitations to reach a different understanding … an understanding rooted in logic and reason rather than in concept-filled texts. First, to the statement that "bliss is freedom from pain and suffering."

 • Freedom from that misperception requires an understanding of the difference in "pain" on the one hand and "suffering" on the other.

 • Pain is of the body, suffering is of the "mind." Pain is felt because of nerve and brain activity, a process that is usually considered to be an asset to the degree that it can reveal physical problems that might otherwise go undetected or to the degree that it can bring an end to activities that are damaging to the body.

 • For one person to pick up a hot pan without experiencing pain is to assure that far greater damage will come to that person than to one who can feel pain and would immediately drop a hot pan before any further physical damage occurs. To explain in more detail:

 • For the body to no longer feel pain, you would have to undergo some degree of paralysis, nerve damage, or brain damage. You would be deprived of one tool that is intended to protect the body for the time that the elements remain together.

 • For example, if you touch any extremely hot object, pain sends a message to the brain that one should stop touching that object immediately. Without pain, you could continue to grasp the object and would undergo severe physical damage to an appendage.

 • Do you really desire that your body forfeit all ability to experience pain if the consequences would include damaging the body regularly and severely as a result of having no means for sending signals to the brain to stop behaviors that are damaging the body?

 • If you must undergo severe nerve damage? If the body must be paralyzed in order to fulfill your desire to feel no pain? If you would have to undergo brain damage in order to fulfill your desire to experience a pain-free relative existence?

• One old adage is, "Be careful what you wish for—you might get it." The Advaitin pointer is, "Stop wishing, period, especially if you have no actual clue at all about that for which you are wishing."

 • As for suffering, that is of the "mind" wherein beliefs in false personas are stored; thus, elimination of suffering requires neither rebirths nor additional lives. It involves elimination of the "mind" that stores the lies that generate suffering, and that elimination can happen now.

• The fact is that it could not possibly happen "later" because any "subsequent lives" would be guaranteed to involve more programming and more "mind"-formation and more persona-adoptions because that pattern—now the pattern being adhered to by all on the planet with the exception of the smallest fraction of a fraction of the population—is the way it is and the way it shall remain

 • Undergoing multiple relative lives would assure that a never-ending loop of suffering would result. No, the Ultimate Medicine that can bring about an end to suffering requires no additional manifestations. The understanding that the "mind" is an illusion (as is all of its content) can only happen now; thus, the sickness that causes suffering can only end during this manifestation by use of the Ultimate Medicine, now

 • There is no need to wait. There is no need to believe that the end of suffering must involve "future" opportunities. The only opportunity is here and now. If You Realize, then suffering will end at the only time when it can: presently.

 • If You can understand that a fire that never occurred cannot possibly re-occur, then You can understand that one that was never born cannot possibly be "re-born." If you do not understand that, then the end of your suffering will be put "on hold" and will never happen.

• As for pain, there will be no escaping that during the relative existence unless nerve or brain or spinal cord injuries should occur; however, pain can be managed when the consciousness witnesses the pain but knows that it is happening not to ItSelf but is happening to a finite body which the consciousness is not.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU

NOTE: This is a non-duality forum focusing on Realization, Real Love, peace, freedom, Your Original Nature, abiding naturally rather than unnaturally or supernaturally, the Oneness, the Nothingness, and the wisdom of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is most certainly no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free of learned ignorance, can thereafter be restored to sanity, and can then be free, period.

F.: [Continued from the last post] In addition to the reasons that people attain certain understandings but report that they have "regressed," or complain that Realization is too far beyond their reach, is because of lingering, distorted beliefs.

What Bliss Is and What Bliss Is Not

from
CHAPTER ONE

How many seekers are frustrated by not having attained bliss? How many seekers think that they have failed or that their teacher has failed when what they believe to be bliss does not manifest or when they think that bliss comes on occasion but does not remain?

Those are the thoughts and beliefs of seekers who are at what Maharaj called “the kindergarten level of spirituality.” How many feel that their goal to become “perfectly spiritual, and thereby perfectly blissful” is being thwarted at every turn.

Maharaj said, “No ambition is spiritual. All ambitions are for the sake of the 'I am'. The ambitions of the so-called Yogis are preposterous. A man's desire for a woman is innocence itself compared to the lusting for an everlasting personal bliss. The mind is a cheat. The more pious it seems, the worse the betrayal.”

Regularly, seekers who speak of “the darkness” and of higher levels of consciousness are told that there is no darkness and that there are no levels of consciousness.

The so-called "darkness" in which the non-Realized live is not really darkness but is merely an absence of light caused by the blockages that have accumulated, and the consciousness is merely consciousness that is either (a) blocked from seeing accurately and from seeing truth or (b) is not.

When so many blockages accumulate, then the light cannot penetrate and all seems dark, but that absence of witnessing the light does not mean that the light is not there. It is simply not observable because of a separation from the source of the light - either because the light has been blocked or because there is nothing available to reflect the light.

The higher level of understanding in regards to this topic is that (1) not only is “no ambition spiritual,” nothing is spiritual; and (2) not only is “the mind a cheat” but the "mind" is actually as much an illusion as the darkness.

If the seeker would “find bliss,” then the seeker must know what bliss is and what it is not. If one that is in kindergarten is sent to the store to buy the materials needed to build a “what-cha-ma-call-it,” the kindergarten-age-child will not have the slightest clue about what he is seeking and neither will anyone else that he asks to help with finding everything required to build a “what-cha-ma-call-it.”

The reason most never “find bliss” is that they are as mistaken about what bliss is and what bliss is not as persons are mistaken about what “the world” is and what it is not.

In order to appreciate the pointers in this book—and in order to end the challenges involved with “occasionally experiencing bliss but not being able to hold on to it” or with “not finding the bliss that others claim they have found” or with “dealing with the frustrations of wanting bliss but not having found it”—the reader is invited to take a few moments to complete the following preparatory exercise:

(A) List all of the ways you would define bliss.

(B) List all of the ways that bliss could be evidenced during the manifestation.

(C) Write a description of what you think the relative existence would look like for you if you were to “attain bliss” once and for all.

Your writings might be used to reveal the prevalent beliefs that exist in regards to bliss and to distinguish between myth and fact as the discussion continues.

To be continued.

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part One

A "movement" or "shift" happened here that added another parallel to the many parallels in terms of the phenomenal "experiences" and the noumenal revelations that "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd" share in common. (Many visitors over the years have said that they also shared the same parallels with "Maharaj" and "Floyd" as well.) In the case of "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd":

1. both grew up in very poor families 2. both moved to populated areas to seek employment opportunities 3. both exhibited business skills that led to their opening and operating many businesses and to their having a large number of employees working for them 4. both succeeded financially 5. both became attached to accumulating; 6. both married and had a family 7. both were initially religious 8. both moved away from organized religion and became interested in "spiritual" matters, finding and following the teachings of a big name teacher (or, in "Floyd's" case, many big name teachers) 9. both had highly religious wives who were quite displeased with the shift away from religion and toward "spirituality" 10. both began to feel empty in spite of all of their "spiritual seeking" and in spite of all of their accumulated "spiritual knowledge";

11. both began to de-accumulate after both saw that they could survive quite well on a fraction of the income they had been making 12. both had wives who were unhappy when the de-accumulation stage was entered and both had wives who became unhappy about their husbands' focus on non-duality and who blamed their unhappiness on no longer having a religious husband (The facts be known, in both cases the unhappiness involved the fact that their husbands were no longer interested in - or willing - to work 80+ hours per week and that their husbands were no longer interested in accumulating wealth and possessions and providing the rich lifestyle to which their wives had grown accustomed)

13. both eventually came to see that the religious and spiritual states were also ego-states, and both saw that there are far more steps on the "path" to complete after reaching the religious and spiritual steps and after playing those roles which are the third of seven steps on the entire "path" 14. both "lost" their wives (one via "death," the other through divorce); 15. both accelerated their seeking; 16. both entered into the "forest dweller stage" 17. both Realized 18. both began to de-accumulate even more

19. both began sharing the teachings 20. for years, both answered questions in whatever order those questions were received, though both said that the movement from identification with the false "I" / "I's" involved an exact, step-wise manner of moving along a "path" that involved "going back" in the same (but reverse order) of the way they "came in" - that is, the way that the manifestation happened and the way that the consciousness was blocked through seven stages that resulted in their becoming identified solely with their false personas, with the content of the "mind," and eventually, with the body. But the most significant awareness that finally came to both after years of offering satsang and after having answered thousands and thousands of questions was this: After years of "Maharaj" offering satsang in his loft, and after years of "Floyd" offering satsang in meeting halls and in his home and via what one site visitor called "Floyd's electronic loft," this fact became obvious to both: "Maharaj" came to see in the 1970's and into 1980 and 1981 that his approach was not working and "Floyd" finally came to see the same.

21. Both saw that many who heard the teachings are not going to understand (Maharaj reporting that "only 1 in 100,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding) 22. both soon saw that even more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj modifying his "guesstimate" and reporting that "only 1 in 1,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding) 23. eventually both saw that even far more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj eventually concluding that "only 1 in 10,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding). And the failings were not the fault of seekers. A "one -in-ten-million" estimate is proof that satsang was not working for most seekers, and the evidence here lately is proof of the same.

Both "Maharaj" and "Floyd" invited seekers to focus on the exact, step-wise "path." Yes, during satsang, "Maharaj" sometimes alluded to the steps while discussing them in no particular order - but he never once laid out the steps in the exact order in which they had to be completed. That was not his teachings style or approach.

Therefore, another movement or shift is happening here spontaneously after reflecting on the more than two decades since the teachings were first offered here and looking at the results of Maharaj sharing pointers in his loft and looking at the results of "Floyd" sharing pointers in this electronic loft: Looking objectively at his results, Maharaj's satsang method of sharing - in the end and by his own admission (only "one out of 10,000,000") - did not produce the intended outcome.

Looking objectively at the results here when using an "electronic loft" satsang method of sharing has not produced the intended outcome nearly as often as any of the three "face-to-face" methods used with seekers by which they have been led through the seven steps in order. Here, the body is growing older, of course. Mahasamadhi could be taken today, or it could be taken in twenty years.

Obviously, that cannot be known. But the decision here has been made that whatever amount of the relative existence remains shall be spent in sharing the teachings in the ways that have been seen over the last 20+ years to be the most effective methods.

Looking back over the list of those that have truly received the understanding, it is seen that Robert R. read all of the books, then took the online Advaita course and then completed some face-to-face Skype sessions to receive the final clarifications required. It was seen that Mac read all of the books, completed the online course, and then attended a retreat where he was guided through the seven steps. Mac said that the online course work inspired him to attend the retreat in order to be able to receive the final "pieces." It was seen that Andy Gugar, Jr. read all of the books, then came here for a retreat and was taken through the seven steps in order, and then returned once more for the final clarifications required. After reviewing the shifts that happened with him after attending two retreats, he reaffirmed this past week his commitment to helping spread the non-duality, nisarga understanding as presented here. As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what had not "worked" as well - changes will be made.

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two

In "Part One," examples were given of seekers that were led to Realization not by satsang but by following the various protocols outlined farther down this page which provide the understanding in the step-wise, orderly, required fashion which moves seekers along a "path" that is as prescribed by Maharaj ... "going back" in the "reverse order" by which the consciousness manifested and became blocked.

However, conversations with some that just read the majority of the books have revealed that they certainly seem to have grasped the understanding and Realized as well. As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what has "not worked" as well - changes are being made. There are seven specific steps that happen when awareness-energy is "pulled" into a cycle of manifestation. When that energy manifests as conscious-energy, that formerly pure and unadulterated energy becomes "corrupted" (or "blocked" from seeing clearly) via programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, and brainwashing. Soon, there is a belief in the not-Real as a result of seven degrees of separation from an understanding of the Real. Using the method that was also employed by his contemporaries - a method which focused on offering non-duality pointers via satsang - Maharaj addressed questions in the order in which they were received. He might receive a question from a seeker at the third step and his reply would include what amounted to an invitation to move to the fourth step. The next question might come from a seeker at the first step, and the reply would include an invitation to move to the second step. The information offered to the second seeker would seemingly contradict what was offered to the first seeker, so visitors who have come here for decades have asked questions which showed how confused they were by the fact that Maharaj's statements to each visitor in his loft were "level-appropriate" yet were provided in no precise order, resulting in what seemed to be an inconsistent message. So the process overall was confusing in that seekers were told to follow the "path back" in the same way that they "came in," except in reverse order, but pointers were not given in a specific, step-wise order at all. Maharaj did recognize the seven steps that are taught here, but by offering the teachings in an order that was dictated by the order in which questions were received from seekers who were at different steps on the "path," the result was this: a pointer about moving beyond the fourth step might be followed by a pointer about moving beyond the first step, and that pointer might be followed by a pointer about how to move beyond the sixth step. The same was done on this site for seven years. The result is a collection of 1,800 or so essays discussing almost every non-duality topic that can be discussed, and the search button on the top right side of this page will now allow seekers with a question about a specific topic to find an explanation. That method, however, will never provide the manner in which the seven steps on the "path" must be transmitted and received in order to Realize Fully. An objective study of the history here of more than twenty years of offering non-duality pointers reveals this: seekers that were given pointers in the exact order in which they needed to receive them were the ones that Realized.

They read the books, then they completed the online course and / or completed seven Skype or telephone sessions or came here for a retreat (or watched the downloadable DVD version of an actual retreat, available below).

Some found that which they were seeking by reading the author's book that deal with non-duality subject matter. Via all of those venues, the steps are taught in their proper order. The essays available on this site will remain for those interested in searching for a discussion of a particular non-duality topic without charge, but the focus here until mahasamadhi is taken is going to be on offering the teachings in the step-wise fashion that has been seen to work.

And via that process, the bliss of Your Original Nature will manifest and remain until mahasamadhi is taken.

To that end, the content of this book will seem radical to the seekers of more, but for those truly ready to be totally free and totally independent - and for those who are truly ready to abandon efforts to accumulate and to de-accumulate instead - the pointers in this book might be relevant.]
