TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

[See the offer following this post for details on how you can watch a seven-hour retreat video which explains all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]

To continue with non-duality-based pointers excerpted from the book The Non-Dual Pointers Offered by Yeshu'a ("Jesus the Christ")

12.

"Whoever drinks from my mouth shall become as I AM and I myself Will become he, and the hidden things shall be revealed to him."

Review the explanation to quote #6 [follows this post] which was offered yesterday and understand that in this quote, Jesus is again referring to the Oneness that all is but that the "non-realized masses" are not aware of, seeing all as "separate" and "apart from" and "different from."

Also, the explanation for quote #8 from yesterday makes clear that the "drinking from his mouth" is not literal but that it is the consciousness / awareness that speaks; therefore, the Advaitin pointer is that if you can hear what comes from "the mouth of consciousness / awareness," then all things presently hidden from you - unknown to you or not understood by you - will be understood.

At that point, the understanding of the Oneness makes clear why, in this quote, Jesus will become him / her and why he / she will become Jesus.

13.

"It is impossible for a man to mount two horses and to stretch two bows; and it is impossible for a servant to serve two masters; otherwise, he will honor the one and offend the other."

This pointer also strikes at the core of the Advaitin teachings: duality is impossible. There can be no such thing as "dualities." There is only non-duality, and any statement of duality is false and any beliefs in duality are false.

14.

"When you make the two one, and when you make the inner as the outer and the outer as the inner, and the above as the below, and When you make the male and the female into a single one, so that the male will not be male and the female not be female, then shall you enter the kingdom."

Again, "the kingdom" is the state of freedom and peace. Also once more Jesus points to the understanding of "Advaita" (literally meaning "not two"); thus, the Advaitin understanding "makes the two one" . . . makes clear that what is thought to be two will - in the light of Truth and understanding - be understood to be one.

There is no inner and outer, no above and below, no male or female, nothing that is different from or separate from anything else in the Advaitin teachings and the Advaitin understandings.

15.

"I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword."

Jesus is making clear that peace cannot come until the sword does its job, not to kill off humans literally but to kill off their faulty beliefs, their erroneous concepts, and their false identifications which block them from knowing the Oneness. Only then can peace come.

16.

"I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."

So does Jesus literally mean that he wants to break up families? No, he means that all roles and role-playing and false identities must end if one is to be in touch with Reality / reality, if one is to be free, and if one is to be at peace.

A man wrote to say he was suicidal because his wife left him. He felt as if he were dying, so the conclusion was that he might as well hasten the process to end the suffering.

Not knowing that beyond the false selves which Jesus referred to, the man has accepted the limited identification that had been assigned by his culture. The fact is that if anyone clings to any false identity - in this case, the false identity of the “husband” - then they shall never find that which is beyond the false selves.

As a result, peace will never happen consistently. If persons find truth and authenticity, then “husbanding” or “not husbanding” can happen, "wifing" or not "wifing" can happen, and consistent peace can happen either way.

All conflict results when one assumes an ego-state (that is, a false identity) because that assumption triggers the use of ego-defense mechanisms to defend the assumed role. One such mechanism is egotism, so conflict will be generated.

Assuming the roles of "a man," "a father," "a daughter," "a mother," "a daughter-in-law," and "a mother-in-law," etc. and adding egotism into the mix will set the stage for people to try to control, to resist control, and to argue. Again, the Advaitin point that Jesus was trying to make was that peace can only come when persons are not being driven by the agendas of their false identities.

17.

"A man’s enemies will be the members of his household."

See the explanation to quote #16 because this quotation is merely reinforcing the same point.

18.

"A dual-minded person is unstable in all ways."

Once more Jesus offers an Advaita-based pointer that drives to the very core of the teachings, namely, that all duality is false and that belief in false, dualistic concepts can only result in instability in the long run.

19.

"If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple."

This quote reiterates the points offered in quotes #16 and #17 above.

Meanwhile, by way of contrast, consider more examples of the type of duality-based messages which are receiving national and international exposure, this time involving disparaging racial and prejudicial actions and comments which were made by the current chief politician in the U.S.:

A. He fought to keeps blacks out of his housing units in N.Y.;

B. he railed against “lazy” black employees;

and he said

C. “Black guys counting my money? I hate it! The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”

When one is trapped in duality, all thoughts and words and deeds dualistically promote and endorse and spread false beliefs about different-from-ment and better-than-ment and separation and division and artificial, dreamed-up hierarchies and which bring about hatred and abuse and instability and chaos and "the breaking of relationships" and fighting and war and killing.

To be continued.
