HOW TO (AND WHAT TO) REALIZE
To continue with the discussion of how to and what to realize, consider the result of completing the four-step "journey":
Y. No Frustrating Unmet Desires and No Debilitating Fears
How can completion of the first four steps on “the path” eliminate frustrating unmet desires and debilitating fears? Easily.
Since all frustrating unmet desires and debilitating fears are rooted in one or more personality identifications / ego-states / false roles, then if belief in personality identifications / ego-states / false roles are eliminated, so too shall frustrating unmet desires and debilitating fears end.
Post-realization and post-freedom-from-belief-in-false-identities, nothing remains that prefers either an extension of the manifestation nor an end to the manifestation. It's called functioning from a position of neutrality. No desires; no fears.
Enjoyment certainly happens though nothing is desired. Nothing is feared since there is nothing to register fear. The consciousness functions from a position of neutrality, knowing that if persons are trapped in seeking the applause of the village, they must also be prepared to accept the scorn of the town as well.
No “good” label is being sought and no “bad” label is being avoided. All is neutral, and all persons can reach that position of neutrality via the realization which manifests if the first four steps are all completed thoroughly.
What is the personality / desire-fear connection?
Years ago I was in The Netherlands and while there spent a week studying the enneagram methodology with Russ Hudson, considered internationally to be one of the leading - if not the top – scholar on the subject matter. I credit him in the book LIBERATION (Attaining Freedom from Personality Via Realization) with explaining how personality identifications generate desires and fears.
The following explanations expose the link between (a) personality assumption and (b) how that leads to unmet desires and paralyzing fears.
Among the nine basic ennegram personality types, the first type identifies as The Perfectionist, The Critic, The Judge:
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type One’s BASIC FEAR is being corrupt or evil or defective
The Type One’s BASIC DESIRE is to be good
The Personality Type Two identifies as the Helper (who actually helps in order to try to make everyone love her or him in an effort to compensate for the perception that too little love was received during childhood, especially from the “father figure”):
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type Two’s BASIC FEAR is the fear of not being loved
The Type Two’s BASIC DESIRE is to be loved
The Personality Type Three functions as The Performer, The Achiever, The Image Maker, The Inauthentic One, The Admiration and Applause Seeker, and The Narcissist:
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type Three’s BASIC FEAR is the fear of being worthless
The Type Three’s BASIC DESIRE is to feel valuable
The Personality Type Four identifies as The Romantic, The Individualist, The Rebel and, if awake, The Intuitive, Authentic One:
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type Four’s BASIC FEAR is the fear of having no identity
The Type Four’s BASIC DESIRE is to find The Authentic Self
The Personality Type Five identifies as The Investigator, The Knowledge Seeker, The Knower (or, The Know-It-All):
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type Five’s BASIC FEAR is the fear of being overwhelmed by reality
The Type Five’s BASIC DESIRE is to be competent and knowledgeable
Personality Type Sixes present as The Loyalist, The Dependent One, The Co-Dependent One, The Entitled One, The One Seeking Caretakers / Providers:
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type Six has a BASIC FEAR of having no support or guidance
The Type Six has a BASIC DESIRE to have support and guidance
[Note: Type Sixes make up 50% of the population on the planet; Type Fours make up ½ of 1% on the planet.]
The Personality Type Seven identifies as The Adventurer, The Enthusiast, The Fun Seeker or, at the extreme, The Hell Raiser or The Addict or The (Unsuccessful) Avoider of Suffering and Pain:
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
The Type Seven has a BASIC FEAR of being trapped, deprived or in pain (be it mental, emotional, or physical
The Type Seven has a BASIC DESIRE to be free, to have the “need” for exciting or enjoyable activities fulfilled, and to avoid all pain (be it mental, emotional, or physical)
Personality Type Eights identify as The Boss, The Challenger, The Asserter, The Control Freak (or, at the extreme, The Sociopath or The Psychopath):
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
Type Eights have a BASIC FEAR of being harmed, violated, used or controlled by others
Type Eights have a BASIC DESIRE to protect themselves, to gain control of their lives, to use others for their benefit, and to control all other persons
The Personality Type Nine identifies as The Indifferent One, The Avoider of Having His or Her “Personal” Peace Interfered With, or The Sloth:
BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE
Type Nines have a BASIC FEAR of loss and of separation (and of not being taken care of)
Type Nines have a BASIC DESIRE for continuity and for “peace of mind” (and for reaping the benefits of their perceived entitlement and being taken care of)
Add to the above the fact that each of those personality types brings with it a host of personality disorders; that the assumption of many other (multiple) personalities is commonplace; that persons over the years may well assume another 60 or 70 or 80 false identities in addition the nine basic types which always manifest; and that all of those types can bring disorders which can disintegrate into cases of neuroses and serious psychoses
and then
it can be understood why sages for ages have made the point that the assignment or assumption of false identifications has long been the bane of humanity.
To be continued.

Here,
with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god,"
the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation
to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns.
THE EXPLANATION
If
looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total
waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are
resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they
are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning?
There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept
of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa
Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in
close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and
glorify and give thanks to."
The
reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god
that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're
dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with
narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism
evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next,
in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had
her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part
of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the
"loving and caring" part.
"That
is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not
an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or
anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to
want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the
'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and
caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love
and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."
Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:
"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"
--Yeshu'a (Jesus)
and
"Heaven and earth shall fade away."
--Yeshu'a (Jesus)
and
"Heaven and hell are not geographic places
but are states of mind, nothing more than
concepts dreamed up by men."
--Pope John Paul II
"There is no hell."
--Pope Francis, the current pope
in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,
a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record
teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.
[That
said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core
concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional
courage required to question the very existence of their institution in
light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children
and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of
billions of their members past and present.
And
that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about
why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to
continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and
conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will
they? Not likely. Why?
Because
what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the
international crime families which hold sway over the masses as
criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major
international crime families and which are the most influential and have
the largest memberships?
The
Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion
followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while
laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank);
Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers)
like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and
sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created
environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies
like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)
With
all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership
ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be
they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business,
politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and
they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the
driving forces at play.
The
masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their
groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem
because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the
people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the
masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved
with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the
continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate
the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types
of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
