THE EVERLASTING PUSHBACK, Part 2 Conclusion
Early on when Maharaj was asked by a visitor to estimate how many will ever “get it” - that is, will ever fully realize the actual non-dual understanding in its entirety - he guessed “1 in 100,000.”
The longer he worked with “seekers,” the more aware he became of . . .
(a) how many could present an affect - that is, posture as “one realized” - when in actuality they are living as much a lie as they did before they ever heard of “non-duality,” “a path,” etc.
or
(b) how many might have grasped much of what he shared but how they could not “hold onto it”; thus, he said:
“You are so used to the support of concepts that when your concepts leave you, although it is your true state, you get frightened and try to cling to them again.”
Realizing that, he changed his estimate to “1 in 1,000,000.”
Later, after witnessing more of the end results among more and more seekers, he changed his estimate to “1 in 10,000,000.”
Next, consider that only ½ of 1% of the population of the planet have the personality style which “pre-wires” them to become maverick-like and rebel against the typical “wiring” among the remaining 99.5% of the masses who . . .
buy into artificiality and pretense and mask wearing and facade maintenance and presenting one image in public but revealing privately something that is quite different.
[Thus the reason that the following words are screamed so often when someone is “breaking up” with one they were in partnership with or married to: “I don’t even know who you are!”
In such cases, murder often follows when the ego state of “The Super Spouse,” “The Homeowner,” “The One With Assets About to Be Taken,” etc. rears its ugly head to try to defend its false, personal identifications.
Maharaj said that most people “in relationships” operate along this continuum of role assumption: from stranger to acquaintance, to friend, to lover, to fiancé / fiancée, to spouse, to a judgmental person, to an irritated person, to an enemy, to a mortal enemy to “the sorriest, lousiest person I’ve ever met.”]
While being a “pre-wired” candidate for realization, there is no guarantee that realization will manifest; also, not being “pre-wired” will not assure that one will never realize, but the odds are against the entire population of the planet ever “getting it.”
So, why so much pushback? The masses hate anyone not joining them on the path which they are on, no matter how insane their path might be.
In the film Midnight Express, Billy Hayes tries to smuggle 4.4 pounds of hashish bricks out of Turkey. He's caught.
During his stay in Sağmalcilar Prison, Billy (having been reduced to a catatonic and unkempt shadow of what he was like before imprisonment) is eventually sent to the prison’s ward for the insane.
He learns that the only chance for physical exercise is in the catacombs below his cell block. In a dark, open space there, there is a small pillar which the insane prisoners walk around in a circle. He joins in the robotic activity of walking in a circle around the pillar with the other prisoners.
All move in the same direction, clockwise, since “good Muslim men always walk to the right.” He and his fellow prisoners are all walking as if characters from “The Night of the Living Dead” circling the centerpiece in their torture-and-trauma-induced trance.
In his near-insane state, Billy joins in the unconscious, clockwise parade of madness, also walking around the centerpiece.
After five years of incarceration, Billy is insane and hopeless; however, a visit from his girlfriend allows her to give him some funds to bribe his way out of the prison. That gives him a semblance of hope for escape which allows him to begin a slow return to a sane state.
When Billy returns to the walking area below where he sees the crowd walking to the right, he does something different: he steps in line but walks to the left, counter-clockwise.
He is smashed into by the masses walking in their usual direction as he determines to “march to the beat of a different drummer” and continues to walk to the left.
He is slammed by the masses who are following a path that is the diametrical opposite of the path Billy has determined to follow.
He receives more and more pushback and is slammed against time and again. But he continues. He perseveres. He sticks to the new course he intends to follow.
That scene is a perfect metaphor for what happens when one in the ½ of 1% group goes up against the other 99.5% of the programmed and conditioned and acculturated and domesticated and indoctrinated and brainwashed people among the masses whose every thought and word and deed are are driven by “learned ignorance, ‘normalized’ stupidity, and imposed insanity” (Maharaj).
Billy received just enough light to allow him to see that the culture he was a part of in prison was insane and that he had no chance of ever being free if he stayed on the same path that everyone else in the prison was following.
And Billy was the only prisoner who was sane enough to know that he did not want to stay in prison.
While most persons would probably prefer not to be incarcerated, there are plenty of cases where some people desired exactly that:
One man had himself intentionally arrested so he could smuggle drugs in an orifice into a jail and sell them at a much higher prices than he was getting on the streets.
In 2012, a woman in Sacramento, California was arrested for slapping a county deputy outside the county jail so she could be arrested because she wanted to quit smoking and felt a jail term would give her the time to break the habit.
Similarly, a man in Lorain, Ohio claimed he intentionally violated a temporary protection order so he could go back to jail and kick his heroin habit.
Some inmates have admitted that they violated the law in order to be arrested and obtain free health care while locked away.
An unfortunate reality for homeless people is that sometimes, it may seem more appealing to spend the night in jail than on the streets.
That was the case for Lance Brown, a homeless man from Columbus, Georgia, who in 2012 hurled a brick through the town courthouse building and spent nine months in jail awaiting his trial.
In Japan, some people are getting arrested because they are lonely and want the company they can get in jail. “I enjoy my life in prison more. There are always people around, and I don’t feel lonely here,” one female inmate said. “When I got out the second time, I promised that I wouldn’t go back. But when I was out, I couldn’t help feeling nostalgic.”
Many might believe that such cases are rare, but the fact is, there are nearly eight billion humans on the planet and most of them are choosing to be locked away behind bars. How's that?
Richard Lovelace said: “Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.”
What is the prison which billions of persons are locked away in right now and are willingly continuing to remain locked up? The prison is the mind.
John Milton explained: “The mind . . . in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.”
Again, it is the mind - after having been unnaturally programmed, conditioned, etc. - which is a storehouse of all which imprisons persons. Each belief is a brick used to form the walls. The bars are also made of concepts and ideas and faith and convictions.
If you allow the false beliefs about
the consciousness to go, then WHO (what false identity) could be left to
be concerned at all with this consciousness or what happens with it?
Maharaj, speaking of conceptual consciousness and transcendent consciousness,
said: “This consciousness is dead to me; it is gone. I have transcended that.
So whatever it is, is that other consciousness, that one which is without
concepts.”
Realized fully, there is no duality, neither “I have always invited death to
come” nor “I will always try to prevent death from coming, no matter what I
have to do.”
This morning, as I type this post, billions of person around the globe are imprisoned and are either willing to remain there or have never given the slightest consideration to doing something different.
Too, there are some that have considered escaping, but when the pushback comes, they capitulated. The masses have no tolerance for those that would take a path which is different from the one they are on.
The non-realized believe they are different from “the other” and believe their being different from makes them better than. It is the one that is functioning in a truly different manner from the masses that will feel the wrath of those driven by “ignorance, stupidity and insanity.”
The question here becomes, how free do you want to be? How willing are you to face the pushback? How willing are youTo walk counterclockwise to “the beat of a different drummer” (Henry David Thoreau)? To follow a different path? To realize fully? And to give up every belief that the “ignorance and stupidity and insanity-driven masses passed down to you?

THE EXPLANATION
If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."
The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.
"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."

teachings which become a part of the Papal
Magisterium.
[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.
And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?
Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?
The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)
With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.
The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
