ANNOUNCEMENTS
[Walter Driscoll asked to interview me in order to preserve on video some of the latest modifications and evolutions in the versions of the message offered here since 1989. He would label the discussion, "Unlearning with Floyd Henderson."
Please note: For those who have a problem hearing what is being shared, the video offers a fairly accurate set of closed captions which some listeners might want to activate.
The interview is available for viewing by clicking on video "NUMBER THIRTEEN" in the column to the right.]
1. [See the offer in gold text following this post for details on how you can watch a retreat on video which includes a detailed discussion of all seven of the steps on the path as used by Maharaj]
2. Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns. See the green text after today's post for the full meaning and implications of that.
3. A newer video ("Number Ten: Awakening Together Satsang, March 2018") has now been added in the far right column of this page, offering the opportunity to view a recent 2018 satsang session with Floyd being interviewed by Regina and Jacqueline of "The Awakening Together Group." (See the details in the blue text after this post.)
4. Some prefer paperback books even if they have to wait a day or so to receive it and have to pay more for a printed book and its shipment. Now, 10 paperback books by Henderson are in print and available in two anthologies through Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and over 40,000+ booksellers around the globe including in the Americas, Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Spain, Brazil and South Korea. See the end of this post in red text for details.
5. Would you like to have us send to someone as a gift from you a copy of any ebook in our inventory? See the offer in purple text at the end of this post.
6. Or, you may purchase a Floyd Henderson Shopify Gift Card here for someone and offer recommendations for the books in Floyd's store which might be of assistance to them.
7. You may click here to visit Floyd's bookstore which offers both digital books and paperback books which deal with non-duality, non-duality-based fictional adventures, recovery, and financial budgeting.
IN TERMS OF “REALIZATION” AS A NON-DUAL PROCESS, THE MATH AIN’T MATHING
“The math ain’t mathing.”
Taraji P. Henson
“You do not need to allow yourself to be taught more; you do not need to work more and more in order to learn more and more; you do not need to add to the body of nonsense and BS which ‘they’ passed on to you via conditioning and programming. You need less of everything, not more of anything. What you need to do is subtract, not add. You need to un-learn; you need to be un-taught.”

“Go
forth, unburdened with ideas and beliefs.”
--Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
. . . “Go home, take charge of your father’s business, look after your parents in their old age. Marry the girl who is waiting for you; be loyal, be simple, be humble. Hide your virtue, live silently.”
--Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
“ . . . Question wisely. You will find you understand nothing for sure - you trust on hearsay.”
--Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
“A little learning can be a dangerous thing.”
--Alexander Pope
“Anything short of total un-learning is a far-more-dangerous thing, relatively speaking.”
--floyd
The love of the body or the love of the content of the “mind” or the love of
any false identities will eventually lead to hate . . . hating the relative existence, hating “others”
whose beliefs do not align with one's own beliefs, and hating anyone who seems
to be threatening one's false identities and / or interfering with the hidden
agendas of those false personalities.
By contrast, freedom from love of the body and the “mind” and false
identifications allows for an objective look at the actual source of one's
misery and suffering.
Of that, Maharaj said, “ . . . first, your attitude to suffering must change.
Suffering is primarily a call for attention, which itself is a movement of
Love.”
One's love of the false self / selves will eventually turn to disgust if the
lack of authenticity registers, if living the lie grows old.
To understand THAT is to understand the Oneness, and to understand the Oneness
is to understand Love, and to understand Love is to automatically and
spontaneously find and root out the source of suffering - first the root of one’s
own suffering then the suffering in all who seek as well.
In
only the most limited way can Love try to address pain, yet Love would
eliminate the causes of misery and suffering.
Love, True Love, hears the call of the miserable and those suffering and understands
that suffering is primarily a call for attention . . . but attention to the
cause(s) of misery and suffering.
Suffering is not a call to “die”; suffering is a call to heal, be the suffering
your own or that of “others.” Here, the teacher suffered, determined to find
the actual source or cause(s) of suffering, found the cause, eliminated the
cause, and then become willing to share the solution with any that seek the
Ultimate Resolution?
Is your body in 24 / 7 pain? That's one thing. Are you miserable and suffering?
That is a totally different “issue.” In the case of the latter, focus on the “mind,”
understanding that the misery-producing-contaminants therein can be eliminated
painlessly and non-violently, with assistance.
One need not destroy the entire brain to address the suffering that is rooted
in the information-storage-and-retrieval part of the brain (a.k.a., “the mind”).
As the title of one book available here points out, “THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS 'PEACE OF MIND' (There's Only Peace If You
Are Out of Your Mind).”
Body Pain vs. Mind-Induced Misery and Suffering, Part Two
The examples shared earlier are but a few of the many instances seen over the last 34 years of persons having been driven so insane that they either
(a) assault their own bodies or
(b) destroy their own bodies in order to bring a miserable
manifestation to an end in their misdirected effort to address what is really
just a “mind problem” that has nothing to do with the body at all.
Sudhakar S. Dikshit put it this way: “The teacher [guide] does not evaluate;
his [her] sole concern is with ‘suffering and the ending of suffering’. He [She]
understands from his [her] personal and abiding experience that the roots of
sorrow are in the mind and it is the mind that must be freed from its
distorting and destructive habits.
“Of
these, the identification of the self with its projections is most fatal. By
precept and example Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj shows a short-cut, a logical but
empirically sound. It operates, when understood.”
Consider each of the main points thoroughly:
a. valid non-dual pointers are about the ending of suffering;
b. the roots of suffering are in the mind;
c. for a person to be free, the mind
must be freed of its habit of distorting;
d. for a person to be free, the mind must be freed of its destructive habits;
e. for “c” and “d” to happen, the mind must be eliminated by eliminating all beliefs ;
and
f. to identity with the false self / selves can be fatal.
As noted earlier, Maharaj said that one's “attitude to suffering must change,”
(an “attitude” being a “belief.”) The non-realized masses suffer, and their
attitude / belief is that suffering must be escaped, avoided, evaded,
circumvented, dodged, sidestepped, eluded, or averted;
if
those do not “work,” then the belief can become this: that the body housing the
consciousness that is able to register suffering must be eliminated.
None of those approaches actually address the non-body, mind-only problem of
suffering; furthermore, certain personality types are especially reluctant to
undergo an honest, objective, guided, and thorough self-examination in order to
find and address the real cause(s) of their suffering.
More on the effects of the nine basic personality styles tomorrow.
To be continued.
Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
