TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

THE RATIONALE FOR UNDERSTANDING "THE REASONS" AND BEING FREED FROM THEIR INFLUENCE, PART FOUR

When any given series comes to an end, there is seldom any "planning ahead" to decide what the next series will discuss. Occasionally visitors might be given a few days' notice of what the next series might deal with because the topic came into consciousness while driving along a highway or while listening to a song; otherwise, when one series ends, the typical morning routine here continues without missing a beat:

First, morning ablutions happen, then the body moves to the kitchen where the expresso machine (pressurized-steam type, not the drip type) is filled with a blending of one-half of Cafe du Monde's caffeinated coffee with chicory and one-half of their decaf with chicory version. That will be loaded into the machine.

As that percolates and steams and as the high pressure is given time to force through the strainer the flavor of the ground beans into a cup below, the body is put through a regimen of stretches which include a myofascial treatment of the chest and neck muscles, then the arms, the waist, the back, and the legs which are stretched in multiple directions. There is nothing "yogic" or "divine" or "spiritual" about the stretching. It's just friggin' stretching.

My daughter recently sent a video clip of my granddaughter awakening one morning and stretching this way and that and then lying back and relaxing and smiling up at her mom.

Presently, that infant knows nothing about a God or the Noumenal or about how to assign deep, spiritual meaning to her act of stretching. Her morning routine, as is the case here, involves simple, no-meaning, non-spiritual stretching. No greater or deeper significance is assigned to stretching. It's just a natural act.

Watch a dog wake up, or a deer, or a cat, or anything else and you'll see the same: there will be stretching for the sake of stretching without any spiritual or holy or divine or mystical or mythical or saintly or devout significance assigned. See? All -natural, not unnatural and not supernatural.

Once the steaming of the coffee grounds is complete, there is added to the espresso a small scoop of brown Turbinado cane sugar and a portion of the half-and-half required to complete the making of a cafe breve

Once prepared, a cup of the coffee is carried into the home office and the cup is placed on an electric warmer plate which was a gift from my daughter, given after she became aware of my A.M. routine. A few sips of the nectar of the beans are taken, and then I sit back and close my eyes and relax.

With no effort at all, usually within a matter of minutes, a topic will arise spontaneously. There is no plan. There is no knowing at the outset if a series will contain five parts or ten entries or fifty posts. It all just flows naturally and spontaneously and automatically until it stops flowing.

Sometimes a post is inspired by something witnessed or overheard during the last 24-48 hours, something that is calling for an end to distortion and delusion and for the beginning of clear seeing; something that is calling for an end to a sense of different-from-ment and better-than-ment; something that is calling for an end to hatred and for the commencement of an understanding of the unicity and Real Love.

But always, no matter what the specifics, the deal is about seeing the latest evidence of humankind's ignorance and insanity and offering examples of that evidence and then following that with pointers which provide a means by which persons can be freed from being mentally-imprisoned by ignorance and insanity;

but the deal is always about freedom, including freedom from attachment to the unnatural and to the supposedly supernatural / supposedly heavenly / supposedly other-worldly / supposedly divine "stuff" which traps the masses in ignorance and insanity; so the deal is about being able to enjoy abiding naturally and freely if all of that "stuff" is discarded.

No endless chain of "goals." No endless "way." No no-end "path." No no-end "journey." No need for totally ineffective meetings and incessant, self-absorbed talking and talking and talking which only reinforces the high levels of self-absorption of those who need above all else to be free of their high levels of self-absorption. So, no need for endless blah, blah, blah, either.

And that is what this series is about: ultimately, it is about waking up to see that one is being falsely imprisoned, not as a result of having been wrongly convicted of a crime but as a result of imagining that one is actually imprisoned when the imprisonment is really all in the mind

In an article entitled "What’s in the Way of Your Freedom?" Mary Morrissey used the same example used here in the past, explaining how easily elephants can be made captive. Of people in India and Thailand and circuses, she wrote:

"First, they tie a thick rope around the leg of a baby elephant and stake it in the ground to tether the animal. While the elephant struggles and pulls to free itself, the rope and stake are strong enough to keep the small animal bound. Finally, the baby elephant will succumb and submit to its captivity.

"As the elephant grows in size and strength, one might think that the farmer would need a larger stake and rope to hold the animal, but this is not the case. Once the elephant gives up thinking it can escape, the size of the rope and stake no longer matter. In fact, they can even get smaller because as soon as the elephant feels the slightest tug of restraint, it gives up.

"Consequently, when the elephant becomes an adult, all the farmers need to do is pull out a few river reeds, weave the reeds into small ropes, and use them to tie the two-ton elephant to whatever he wants. Imagine: a simple river-reed rope to restrain an elephant!

"People are also like that. Just as the elephant has been conditioned to believe in its limitations, we humans have been conditioned. Without even recognizing it, mankind engages in 'river reed thinking'.”

Douwe Tiemersma said, "Again and again, Maharaj draws our attention to this basic fact in order to make us realize our ‘I am-ness’ and thus get rid of all self-made prisons."

Maharaj advised: "Study the prison you have built around yourself."

He said: "Within the prison of your 'world' appears a man who tells you that the world of painful contradictions, which you have created, is neither continuous nor permanent and is based on a misapprehension. He pleads with you to get out of it, by the same way by which you got into it."

Even more clarifying is this pointer from Maharaj: "The moment I create an institution, I become its prisoner."

What institutions are you associated or affiliated with - and associated or affiliated with not because you consciously chose to be associated or affiliated with them but because an authority figure in your life led you to that association or affiliation? Would you take a moment to list all of your associations or affiliations because, if you are willing, you will then have a list of all that is presently imprisoning you without your even realizing that you are being imprisoned. Only if that is understood first can you then walk out of prison and be free.

Maharaj: "Everyone creates 'a world' for himself and lives in it, imprisoned by one’s ignorance. All we have to do is to deny reality to our prison."

(Of course in most cases, humans do not program and condition themselves. That was done initially by those who were in positions of authority over them and who implanted in their minds particular concepts of a 'world' and the sense of imprisonment.

What role, then, does "everyone" play in creating that world of imprisonment? Once those earlier authoritarian influencers are gone, then, yes, persons take up where their earliest programmers and conditioners left off: "You created in my mind a dreamed up prison which has led to untold misery and suffering. Now you're gone? No problem. I'll take it from here.")

Maharaj: "The main point to grasp is that you have projected onto yourself a world of your own imagination, based on memories, on desires and fears, and that you have imprisoned yourself in it. Break the spell and be free"

and

"You have put so much energy into building a prison for yourself. Now, spend as much on demolishing it. In fact, demolition is easy, for the false dissolves when it is discovered."

Maharaj: "To know that you are a prisoner of your mind, that you live in an imaginary world of your own creation, is the dawn of wisdom."

Time and again these related pointers have been shared here:

John Milton said in the 1600’s: "The mind . . . in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven”

and

Richard Lovelace said, also in the 1600’s, “Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.” What does? The mind, he said.

Maharaj said in the 1980’s: " . . . The mind obscures and distorts"

and

"It is the mind that creates illusion"

and

"There is no such thing as peace of mind. Mind means disturbance. Restlessness itself is mind."

This was asked a year ago, and it is asked again today: "How can one constrained or imprisoned ever enjoy a true sense of lightness?" One cannot.

Maharaj would eventually shift from (a) suggesting that religion or spirituality can dispel the sense of being constrained or imprisoned to (b) pointing out that it is the mind and its content - and the psychological problems which are generated by the content of the mind - which cause persons to become constrained and imprisoned. He said that it the task of the teacher to free seekers from their learned ignorance. (Not to teach them more dogma? No. Not to give them more and more spiritual exercises to do? No.)

What greater ignorance is there than to lie in a bunk and imagine that one is surrounded by bars which cannot be penetrated when, in fact, the bunk is in the middle an open field, surrounded by all sorts of fauna that are all moving about freely.

The fact: each of the bars which form the conceptualized prison in which the masses are trapped is a concept or an idea (a.k.a., a belief) which forms the mental prison in which most live.

The invitation here has always been: "Join 'the realized' in their freedom which is a result of living naturally rather than being trapped in the burden of living unnaturally or trying to live supernaturally."

This is shared in a book available on this site which deals with the "Nothingness":

"Whether your identity is of a phenomenal nature or a noumenal nature in your ‘mind,’ your preoccupation with it is evidence of the fact that you hold in esteem either that which you currently believe you are, or that Special SOMETHING which you think you shall be forever, or both. In fact, when a ‘state’ of zero concepts is reached, it is understood that there is no ‘identity’ at all. It is also realized from that ‘state’ that there is nothing deserving any esteem at all, contrary to the tendency among the 'non-realized' to demand that they be shown ‘all of the honor which they think they deserve’."

TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

Specific "reasons" cause persons

  • to be obsessive and compulsive
  •   and render them unable to relax
  • and lead them to be driven to go and do and zoom (whether that involves religion; spirituality; employment; "personal relationships"; politicking; reforming; rescuing; seeking love; seeking mass approval and applause and admiration; trying to escape responsibilities; accumulating; finding caretakers; or controlling).
  • We are looking at what causes "the reasons" to manifest
  •  and what must happen in order to be freed from their influence.

So, to continue

[Several of the following reasons were shared by site visitor Bill]

Persons also obsess, act compulsively, are unable to relax, are fanatical, are driven by subconscious motives, and do whatever authority figures tell them to do - unquestioningly - because of reason 27 (they believe that if they repent, their deity may feel kindly toward them and will do what they want him / her / them to do, and that takes away their perceived hopelessness and helplessness;

because of reason 28 (they believe that if they have Someone to pray to, then that Someone will part the heavens and enter and change the path of the storm to kill someone other than them; and because of reason 29 (religion appears to the masses to make perfect sense to persons who desperately desire to control their world).

The causes of reasons #27-29 include:

PERSONALITY IDENTIFICATION and PROGRAMMING, CONDITIONING, ACCULTURATION, DOMESTICATION, BRAINWASHING AND INDOCTRINATION and HUMANITY'S PRIMARY ADDICTION TO CONTROL and HUMANITY'S SECONDARY ADDICTION TO POWER (1) IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL and (2) IN ORDER TO ALLEVIATE THE FEARS AND TO FULFILL THE DESIRES WHICH COME WITH THE BELIEF IN BODY AND MIND AND PERSONAL IDENTIFICATIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED OR ASSUMED

The first reasons in the list have been discussed. As for the wishing and hoping paradigm and the control / power paradigm:

My daughter raised those subjects during her junior year at Southwestern University. She was seeing the validity of what I had shared with her in high school during her times of fear. I had explained that most of what I had feared or what I had dreaded in my life actually never happened and that most of the dreadful events (relatively speaking) which did happen, I never even saw coming.

Maharaj put it this way: "The unexpected is bound to happen, while the anticipated may never come."

I also spoke to her fairly early on about the effects of the obsessions and compulsions which are rooted in humanity's primary and secondary addictions.

What did Maharaj have to say about the desire to control and the desire for power / Power in order to be able to control?

Maharaj: "Whether you plan or don’t, life goes on. But in life itself a little whorl arises in the mind which indulges in fantasies and imagines itself dominating and controlling life"

and

"Realize that you are not the master of what happens. You cannot control the future except in purely technical matters."

When pointers in that vein have been shared here over the years, the egotism-and-distortion-generated reaction is usually: "What!? I'm not the Chairman of the Board of the Universe . . . The One in Charge of Space and Time? B.S.!"

Maharaj: "What is wrong in letting go the illusion of personal control and personal responsibility? Both are in the mind only."

As for "power," he said, "The wise man is stripped of all his powers" (meaning, stripped of his delusion that he had power, a delusion held during the days when he was not yet in touch with wisdom).

Maharaj said, "We must realize how poor and powerless we are. As long as we delude ourselves by what we imagine ourselves to be, to know, to have, to do, we are in a sad plight indeed."

As for fear and desire, the prerequisite for both is personality assignment and / or assumption. Each persona has a basic fear and basic desire. No personality = no fear and no desire, and having no fear and no desire render one at peace (because anxiety and fear are absent) and free of feeling cheated or robbed when desires are not fulfilled.

[Frequent visitors to this site also understand the above applies to anxiety and fear if it is based in mental roots; if anxiety and fear are rooted in body chemistry, then certain natural, over-the-counter supplements can be used to address those physiological / organic sources of anxiety and fear.]

Want to be free of the insanity of being trapped on an endless "path" and endless seeking? Be free of body and mind and personality identification (and therefore free of the misery generated by baseless fears and unmet desires) and be free of the delusions of control and power / Power / Powers.

To be continued.

TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

Specific "reasons" cause persons to
  • be obsessive and compulsive
          and to
  • render them unable to relax and lead them to be driven to go and do and zoom (whether that involves religion; spirituality; employment; "personal relationships"; politicking; reforming; rescuing; seeking love; seeking mass approval and applause and admiration; trying to escape responsibilities; accumulating; finding caretakers; or controlling).
  • We are looking at what causes "the reasons" to manifest and what must happen in order to be freed from their influence. So, to continue:
          [Several of the following reasons were shared by site visitor Bill]
  • Persons also obsess, act compulsively, are unable to relax, are fanatical, are driven by subconscious motives, and do whatever authority figures tell them to do - unquestioningly - because reason 26: guilt is preferred over the feeling of helplessness: "At least if I am guilty of something, I can repent and thus have some control."
The causes of reason #26 include the following which have been discussed:

PERSONALITY IDENTIFICATION and PROGRAMMING, CONDITIONING, ACCULTURATION, DOMESTICATION, BRAINWASHING AND INDOCTRINATION

Guilt is an emotion which has been defined as "the shame or regret which follows bad conduct." Hence, it is clear that guilt is feed by dualistic beliefs: "If I do this, I am good, but if I do that, I am bad." The realized feel but do not emote, because all emotions are associated with ego-states . . . with personality identification.

The realized do not see things in a Goldilocks manner which labels everything as either "good" or "bad" and "very good" vs. "very bad" or "too this" vs. "too that" vs. "just right." Yet abiding spontaneously can be make by a "centrist balance" as opposed to being driven by extremes and fanaticism.

John Knowles explained that the people in the U.S. are especially entrapped in a duality-based mindset, noting that the still-lingering effects of (a) the nation's puritanical roots are a setup for guilt and rigidity and religious extremism which affects so many vs. (b) the "germ of wildness" which affects so many when a sense of rebellion manifests during times when the conclusion is, "To hell with all of that puritanical nonsense. I'm going to have some pleasure and some fun." (How un-American!)

Dr. Guy Winch says, "Guilt is a common feeling of emotional distress that signals us when our actions or inactions have caused or might cause harm to another person—physical, emotional, or otherwise."

In one study, he found that most persons in the study spent several hours a week experiencing a sense of "mild or moderate guilt."

In a duality-driven culture where children are constantly hearing "Good boy!" and "Good girl" on one hand but then hearing statements or being given looks of disapproval which let them know when they are "being bad," then the chances are slight that they will settle into a "centrist balance" where they are neither excessively arrogant and egotistical or even sociopathic and psychopathic on one hand nor sensing extreme guilt and shame and a sense of worthlessness on the other hand.

The ultra-conservative types who are rigid and unbending and severe and strict and inflexible are the ones who laud the nation's puritanical roots and who keep their oh-so-handy beliefs in their toolkits of judgmentalism are the ones - often, the chauvinistic ones - who . . .

blame women if they are raped;

blame women if they are beaten by a mate or spouse;

talk about "legitimate rapes" vs. the claims of having been raped by women "who, truth be known, really wanted it";

complain about insurance companies paying for birth control for women but have no problems with insurance companies paying for Viagra for men;

and who

brag about being able to commit sexual assault without consequence because women accept that kind of abuse from men who are rich and famous.

Of course, those trapped in such mindsets are sociopaths and psychopaths who never experience guilt. At the opposite extreme are those who deem themselves be the guardians of purity and who use whatever path they are on to allow them to repent and be free of any sense of guilt without having to give back what they stole or even apologize for whatever "relative harms" they committed but have been "forgiven for" by asking their Power to give them a clean slate.

Thus, the results of the fanatical extremism of duality are once again exposed, even as the realized do not give any validity to the extremes on either end of the spectrum. Maharaj made clear that neither the virtuous nor the sinful visit him. Those ready for nisargan pointers are in that area of centrist balance . . . in a mid-ground position of neutrality which is free of all sense of "good" vs. "bad."

As for the results of realization, Maharaj said, "In the end you know that there is no sin, no guilt, no retribution, only life in its endless transformations."

Additionally, it makes sense to endorse the middle place, to encourage seekers to rest in the harmony that is free of either extreme on any continuum. In the middle place, calm and relaxing breathing occurs.

At one extreme, persons can be fanatical about having oxygen bottles and special tents for deep and heavy breathing; at the other extreme, one sticking his head underwater or in the sand and avoiding the use of all oxygen will be in dire straits, relatively speaking.

It is only the middle ground makes sense, free from all dualistic extremes.

Maharaj: "The law of balance reigns supreme."

Insanity is marked by being unbalanced. Ignorance leads to being perpetually unbalanced. Chaos will prevail: Yeshu'a / Jesus said: "A dual-minded person will be unstable in all ways."

Yet some fake illness to get attention from a mate or one's children or one's medical provider. And some fake guilt to get attention from persons who specialize in guiding them to finding forgiveness.

Oh the games that persons - "the non-realized" - do love to play.

By contrast, the bottom line with "the realized" is this: they understand that there is either harm or harmony but never both together.

Maharaj's advice:

"Meet your own self; be with your own self; listen to it, obey it, cherish it. You need no other guide. As long as your urge for truth affects your daily life, all is well with you. Live your life without hurting anybody. Harmlessness is a most powerful form of Yoga and it will take you speedily to your goal. This is what I call nisarga yoga, the Natural Yoga. It is the art of living in peace and harmony, in friendliness and love. The fruit of it is happiness, uncaused and endless."

Freedom from the emotion of guilt can come via playing the "I'm Gonna Get Me Some Forgiveness from My Other-Worldly Power Game" by those selfishly using their religious or spiritual "path" to commit all the relative harms they want and then immediately having a clean slate restored upon request;

or

freedom from guilt can come by playing "The Total Narcissist or Sociopath or Psychopath Game" whereby a total absence of empathy completely precludes any sense of guilt;

or

freedom from the emotion of guilt can come by way of practicing harmlessness.

To be continued.

Please enter into the silence of contemplation.

TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

Specific "reasons" cause persons

• to be obsessive and compulsive

 • and render them unable to relax • and lead them to be driven to go and do and zoom (whether that involves religion; spirituality; employment; "personal relationships"; politicking; reforming; rescuing; seeking love; seeking mass approval and applause and admiration; trying to escape responsibilities; accumulating; finding caretakers; or controlling).

• We are looking at what causes "the reasons" to manifest

• and what must happen in order to be freed from their influence. So, to continue:

Persons also obsess, act compulsively, are unable to relax, are fanatical, are driven by subconscious motives, and do whatever authority figures tell them to do - unquestioningly - because of, and associated with, reason #23, is reason 24: over 97% of all persons on earth believe that there is a god or goddess or God that will give them what they want if they worship that Power and pray to It and have unquestioning faith in It throughout an entire manifestation.

The causes of reason #24 include the following which have already been discussed:

BODY IDENTIFICATION and ITS ACCOMPANYING DISTORTIONS AND DELUSIONS and PERSONALITY IDENTIFICATION and ACCULTURATION

Persons also obsess, act compulsively, are unable to relax, are fanatical, are driven by subconscious motives, and do whatever authority figures tell them to do - unquestioningly - because of reason 25: because many want to please others in order to get the love now that they did not get as children.

The cause of reason #25 is:

PERSONALITY IDENTIFICATION, ESPECIALLY PERSONALITY TYPE TWO

Because Type Two's (Rescuers / Helpers / Love Seekers) are so prevalent in most cultures now, especial attention will be paid today to the discussion of the effects of being driven by that type's agenda.

From the book LIBERATION (Attaining Freedom from Personality via Realization): The Relative Effects of Personality: Fears, Desires and Interrupted Happiness

This discussion focuses on the personality type that desires love but that lives in the fear of not getting it and with the unhappiness of never having enough of it. A pointer offered in the past said: “Desires and wants and fears and imagined needs are generated by illusory ego-states. Who could possibly be satisfied if constantly experiencing the sensations of desire, want, fear or need?” The answer: No one.

Ego-states, in turn, are the result of the personality influences being discussed in this series (which also generate all dualistic beliefs, including: "good vs. bad," "loved vs. not loved," and belief in "a god of evil in opposition to a god of morality.") Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj offered this pointer: “Only at word level does one think something good or bad will happen; when one identifies with the space, it is the end of good and bad. First of all you identify something as being good or bad for yourself. Then, in an effort to acquire good or to get rid of bad, you have invented a god. Then, you worship such a god . . . and you pray to that god for something good to happen to you.”

Those pointers having been offered, the focus now will be on the basic fear and the basic desire of Personality Type Two—"The Helper."

The consideration for Type Two’s is this:

WHO (that is, what egotism-driven ego-state) thinks she / he needs love?

WHO thinks that he / she is in any position to "help" "others"?

WHO is so arrogant as to believe that “others” are obviously far less intelligent, far less capable, and far less gifted than the persona who thinks she / he is most qualified to provide "help" to “others”?

WHO is so egotistical that he / she believes that they know so much that they have the answers for everyone else’s relative world problems?

WHO believes that she / he knows what "others" need?

and

WHO believes that he / she is the most competent to provide "help"?

BASIC FEAR AND BASIC DESIRE

Russ Hudson pointed out the following about Personality Type Twos:

The Type Two’s BASIC FEAR is the fear of not being loved

The Type Two’s BASIC DESIRE is to be loved (by many)

THE IMPACT OF THAT PERSONALITY TYPE ON THE RELATIVE EXISTENCE

A Type Two will try to get the love she / he desires by manipulating others into believing that they need the Type Two, that they need what only that one person can offer, that they need the insight that only that one Type Two has, and that they cannot survive without that Type Two person. That mindset will attract what type persons for Type Twos to deal with on a daily basis?

Needy, dependent, easily-influenced persons who are users and takers. The resulting co-dependency and chaos from dealing with the needy people that Twos attract will mar the relative existence of the Type Two. Why?

Type Twos eventually resent all the demands being made upon them by the needy, exploitative persons which their dependency-fostering persona attracts, even though the Twos were aggressively seeking out needy people with an excess of relative existence problems and who need the “help” that Type Twos believe (in their huge conceit) that only they can provide.

The resulting dependency preempts independence for the Two and for those persons who accept the Two’s “help,” and persons who are not free cannot possibly be happy—their baseless protestations to the contrary notwithstanding. The relative existence of those trapped in the Type Two sphere becomes marked by a lack of energy as Type Twos try to do so much for "others";

becomes marked by selfishness as Twos are really giving with the ulterior motive of trying to get back even more; becomes marked by working to “help” "others" while Twos ignore their own basic, relative requirements; becomes marked by the building up of resentments since Twos never feel that "others" appreciate adequately their sacrifices; and becomes marked by the passive-aggressive behavior that always follows when the Type Two believes that he / she is not getting the degree of love and gratitude that is deserved after all the “help” they have offered.

WHY PERSONALITY TYPE TWO INTERRUPTS HAPPINESS

 Imagine the frustration of needing love, of constantly wanting love, of constantly trying to find love, and of trying—always in vain—to hold onto love in a culture where 62% of those persons who pledge “to love ‘til death do us part” . . . don’t.

Yet the transient nature of “love” is not confined to the U.S. Across the globe, the typical pattern of relationships is to move through the following phases: “stranger” to “acquaintance” to “friend” to “lover” to “spouse or partner” to “enemy” to “mortal enemy.” The same intransigence marks not only “love relationships” but friendships and partnerships as well.

How, therefore, could a Type Two ever be consistently happy when the desire is “to be loved deeply by everyone” while "self"-absorbed persons have no ability to love unconditionally at all and while persons mistake all sorts of personal agendas for “love”? Much has been written about the illusion of “need.” Much has also been written about the illusion of “love.”

As long as a person has a desire to be needed, happiness cannot happen with any degree of continuity. As long as Type Twos are overly-accommodating, are acting like martyrs, or are being possessive and manipulative, then happiness cannot happen with any degree of continuity.

As long as Twos are behaving as overly-sensitive pleasers and controlling manipulators, happiness cannot happen with any degree of continuity. The misery that accompanies such entrapment in this personality type—or in any of the other eight types—should make clear why those who offer Advaitin pointers consistently invite protégés to abandon identification with body, with mind, and with personality.

FREEDOM FROM PERSONALITY TYPE TWO EFFECTS VIA REALIZATION

With realization comes (A) the understanding that there is no “one” that has any need. With Realization comes (B) the understanding that no “one” can help any “one.” With Realization comes (C) clarity about what love is not and then (D) an end to wasting energy in the search for anything that is illusory. Lies are stored in the mind; truth can be accessed via the inner resource, contact with which is typically blocked by assumption of personality.

When that inner awareness springs forth into the consciousness, then all beliefs about being a person in need, about being a person who needs help, and about being a person who has great ability to help others . . .all that will end and a lightness of being can happen for the remainder of the manifestation. But whether realization (and an accompanying lightness of being) happens or not, neither case changes the fact that no “one” exists that can “help,” that no “others” exist that are "separate from" and needing “help,” and that no “one” exists that needs “help” . . . or anything else.

Next, any lightness of being which is not manifesting during the relative existence can only come about after realization, which is then followed by an acceptance of these facts: first, if something happens, such as “being loved,” it happens, and, secondly, if it does not happen, so it is. Furthermore, the Type Twos’ belief in the dualistic concept that they have a “need to connect” reveals that the Oneness is not understood at all by Type Twos. That failure to understand the unicity fosters a belief in duality and a desire to create dependencies and connections.

To commit to finding the lies and thereby to finding the truth via realization is the course that can free Type Twos of (1) their constant sense of feeling rejected, of (2) their typically feeling hurt, of (3) their feeling that they need to win over everyone and be loved by all, of (4) their egotism, revealed by their belief that they are so much better than "others" that they are in a position to “help” "others" and of (5) their frustration that results from that constant, nagging sense that they lack the love, the esteem, and the sense of worth that their personality convinces them that they need.

And if Type Twos were freed from being driven subconsciously by a desire to gain more and more love in their quest to try to attain now the love that was not offered to them during childhood by absentee or unavailable fathers, then life for those around those Two's would also be less stressful. Why?

I have a neighbor who is a Type Two, and she demands that her children and husband constantly hug her and display affection for her. Because stressed Type Two's disintegrate to the Type Eight and become controlling and domineering and downright mean if they do not get what they want, then those around her feel that negative energy which her "8 side" projects when she is trying to have her miserable internal condition alleviated by externals, by those around her.

What a burden to have to deal with a person who believes that her or his happiness depends on what others do and to then be blamed and shamed for never doing enough. The woman puts those around her in charge of making her feel good, demanding: "You will love me, and you will focus your attention on me all day long, and you will show me you love me in a variety of ways all day long."

What a strain for those around her. Her children have said they are tired of her demands, her husband has said he is tired of her demands, I have shared with her what is driving her to be so demanding, and - even after all of that - she still could care less about how they feel or what they prefer. She "has needs, dammit!" She's on a mission to be loved, and by dang, she "will be shown love by everyone . . . or else!"

With the coming of realization and the subsequent freedom from being driven by personality, all such nonsense could go for everyone being driven by the subconscious agenda of a Type Two and by the agenda of a Type Two gone to Type Eight. To be continued. Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
