TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

Specific "reasons" cause persons

  • to be obsessive and compulsive
  •   and render them unable to relax
  • and lead them to be driven to go and do and zoom (whether that involves religion; spirituality; employment; "personal relationships"; politicking; reforming; rescuing; seeking love; seeking mass approval and applause and admiration; trying to escape responsibilities; accumulating; finding caretakers; or controlling).
  • We are looking at what causes "the reasons" to manifest
  •  and what must happen in order to be freed from their influence.

So, to continue

[Several of the following reasons were shared by site visitor Bill]

Persons also obsess, act compulsively, are unable to relax, are fanatical, are driven by subconscious motives, and do whatever authority figures tell them to do - unquestioningly - because of reason 27 (they believe that if they repent, their deity may feel kindly toward them and will do what they want him / her / them to do, and that takes away their perceived hopelessness and helplessness;

because of reason 28 (they believe that if they have Someone to pray to, then that Someone will part the heavens and enter and change the path of the storm to kill someone other than them; and because of reason 29 (religion appears to the masses to make perfect sense to persons who desperately desire to control their world).

The causes of reasons #27-29 include:

PERSONALITY IDENTIFICATION and PROGRAMMING, CONDITIONING, ACCULTURATION, DOMESTICATION, BRAINWASHING AND INDOCTRINATION and HUMANITY'S PRIMARY ADDICTION TO CONTROL and HUMANITY'S SECONDARY ADDICTION TO POWER (1) IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL and (2) IN ORDER TO ALLEVIATE THE FEARS AND TO FULFILL THE DESIRES WHICH COME WITH THE BELIEF IN BODY AND MIND AND PERSONAL IDENTIFICATIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED OR ASSUMED

The first reasons in the list have been discussed. As for the wishing and hoping paradigm and the control / power paradigm:

My daughter raised those subjects during her junior year at Southwestern University. She was seeing the validity of what I had shared with her in high school during her times of fear. I had explained that most of what I had feared or what I had dreaded in my life actually never happened and that most of the dreadful events (relatively speaking) which did happen, I never even saw coming.

Maharaj put it this way: "The unexpected is bound to happen, while the anticipated may never come."

I also spoke to her fairly early on about the effects of the obsessions and compulsions which are rooted in humanity's primary and secondary addictions.

What did Maharaj have to say about the desire to control and the desire for power / Power in order to be able to control?

Maharaj: "Whether you plan or don’t, life goes on. But in life itself a little whorl arises in the mind which indulges in fantasies and imagines itself dominating and controlling life"

and

"Realize that you are not the master of what happens. You cannot control the future except in purely technical matters."

When pointers in that vein have been shared here over the years, the egotism-and-distortion-generated reaction is usually: "What!? I'm not the Chairman of the Board of the Universe . . . The One in Charge of Space and Time? B.S.!"

Maharaj: "What is wrong in letting go the illusion of personal control and personal responsibility? Both are in the mind only."

As for "power," he said, "The wise man is stripped of all his powers" (meaning, stripped of his delusion that he had power, a delusion held during the days when he was not yet in touch with wisdom).

Maharaj said, "We must realize how poor and powerless we are. As long as we delude ourselves by what we imagine ourselves to be, to know, to have, to do, we are in a sad plight indeed."

As for fear and desire, the prerequisite for both is personality assignment and / or assumption. Each persona has a basic fear and basic desire. No personality = no fear and no desire, and having no fear and no desire render one at peace (because anxiety and fear are absent) and free of feeling cheated or robbed when desires are not fulfilled.

[Frequent visitors to this site also understand the above applies to anxiety and fear if it is based in mental roots; if anxiety and fear are rooted in body chemistry, then certain natural, over-the-counter supplements can be used to address those physiological / organic sources of anxiety and fear.]

Want to be free of the insanity of being trapped on an endless "path" and endless seeking? Be free of body and mind and personality identification (and therefore free of the misery generated by baseless fears and unmet desires) and be free of the delusions of control and power / Power / Powers.

To be continued.

Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
