From a site visitor: Those postings the week before last lead me to conclude that I have finally found someone who can answer a question that no one as yet has answered in a way that has rung true: what is the fourth dimension?

F.: First, understand that which is three-dimensional: a body has height, width and depth. That’s three-dimensional. A “mind” assumes personality (i.e., assumes false ego-states as identities) that are body-dependent, and those roles are played out by a three-dimensional body that is co-dependent with other three-dimensional bodies.

So what is the fourth dimension? It is that dimension that is beyond the three described above. It is a term that points to that which is beyond the physical but is often misused to refer to concepts considered “spiritual” or “metaphysical.” But spiritual role-playing is nothing more than one of seven steps in the shift from identification with the false “I” to becoming fully Realized.

THAT which is real is beyond all talk about spirituality (which typically focuses not on what IS but on what is NOT—specifically, on what is NOT worldly, NOT material, or NOT temporal). But the Realized Advaitan would ask, “So you know what is not, but you do not know what IS?" Religious and spiritual speakers seek an emotional reaction from their audiences whereas Realization eliminates emotional intoxication. So-called “religious or spiritual messages” today also speak about connecting with some God or power or force that is greater than you…in other words, connecting with something that is NOT You. That is duality in and of itself. There is nothing that is NOT You. What You Are, All Is. "Differing appearances" are based in nothing more than variances in vibrational frequency. (The energy/matter called "a tree" is the same as the energy/matter called "a human." The energy is simply vibrating at a different level and results in the mispreception that "they are two things that are different.")

Use the term “fourth dimension,” then, not to refer to anything that is supposedly “spiritual” but to point toward that which is even beyond spirituality. Who today speaks of that? And who today understands that dimensions far exceed four in total and require a double-digit number to tally? Yet that need not be understood for Realization. To the contrary, Realization allows the understanding of the functioning of the totality to happen.

As for your inquiry, then, the term “fourth dimension” could be used to redirect the focus from anything that is taken to be three-dimensional. Then, if You Realize fully, You will understand these talks that deal with that which is beyond the three dimensions, beyond the fourth dimension, beyond spirituality, beyond beingness and doingness, and beyond the non-beingness as well. From a site visitor: I\'m curious if there is a relationship between lucid dreaming (I\'ve heard it\'s also been called \"Tibetan dream yoga\") and enlightenment. There are obvious similiarities, but is there (or can there be) a direct relationship between the two? Kelly

F. Hello, Kelly. Thx for the question. The scope of this site being what it is, and understanding Maharaj’s point that Advaita is a philosophy with teaching that are supported by scientific facts, the response will be from the Advaita base and the factual base. That will provide two pointers: (1) the intent of the Advaita approach is always to use concepts to be rid of concepts, so why not discard concepts involving lucid anything and Tibetan anything and yoga anything and, yes, Advaita anything, in the end? And (2) look always, first and foremost, at the facts and look always, ultimately, to the inner resource that can reveal all.

So, first and foremost, the facts: consciousness, as with all forms of energy, is always in motion. Waves moving through the brain will always be in motion until that moment that persons call “death.” When the waves slow to the delta level, deep sleep happens (offering an opportunity once every 24 hours to practice “dying physically” and to practice "dying the death of ego or the death of the ‘I’”—when you really do forget “self” for a period). As the speed of the waves increase slightly from that delta state, the shift is to what is called “the theta level.” It is at that wave speed that dreams and visions come. Can visions result in understandings that have not yet been appreciated at the fully conscious level, if the contents are later considered at the beta brain wave level? Yes. [See http://floydhenderson.com/spiritjourney.htm .]

For example, the “enlightenment” that happened with “floyd” came after reading transcripts time and again of instances where protégés were visiting gurus and asking for the specific steps to take in order for Full Realization to happen, only to hear the gurus offer evasive or intangible responses. While searching for those exact steps to Realization, the vision came and provided the answer. Can the remembrance of dreams be enhanced? Sure. Set a pad beside the bed and condition yourself to write reminder notes about the content each time you wake. You will start remembering more and more content. All that having been said, it’s much ado about nothing. Any vision that comes that would be worth remembering will be remembered. (In fact, rather than struggling to remember all the details of the vision recounted on the CD above, the details cannot be forgotten.)

That’s the factual or scientific view. Now, for the Advaita view: this process of “attaining enlightenment” is a hoax in that there is no one to attain anything. Being Realized, however, is a simple process that requires neither lucid dreaming skills nor lucid dream analysis; rather, it involves questioning all of your programming, seeing that it’s all myth-based or self-serving and human-based, discarding it all, and then being open to receiving the truth via the inner guru that is already there. It need not be attained. You already “have” it.

All so-called "spiritual work" is useless, whether working to dream in a lucid fashion, working to recall and record dreams, or working to gain something or prevent the loss of something. Instead, keep it simple. That is the suggestion. The Original Understanding was known intuitively by humans and human-like beings that had a brain with far fewer grams of weight than yours and far less development than yours, and they did not do “work” or do “spiritual exercises” to “get” the understanding. They “experienced” it intuitively. They never verbalized it; they all just knew it. So do You. Realization does not require brain work nor physical work nor spiritual work nor religious work nor emotional work nor dream work. All of those are hindrances; in fact, all such work is a hindrance. Actually, from the Advaita view, dreams are the “problem”: persons are walking about in their dreams, taking their dreams to be that which is real.

The suggestion then? Kick back, relax, and take it easy. Read these postings, if you choose. If a vision comes, it comes. If it does not come, so it is. You can always listen to the vision on the CD at the site above or you can read a recounting of it without charge on the website at www.floydhenderson.com. For now, recall every word or phrase you have ever used after the expression “I am.” Write them all down, if you like. Then see how each of those statements is a lie. After that, if You see that You are none of those roles or labels, ask WHO (or more accurately) WHAT You Are, Truly. THAT Which “Kelly” Truly Is is not what anyone has told her she is. Tap that inner resource and find WHAT You Are now, what You have always Been, and what You shall always Be. Please enter the silence of contemplation.
[TOMORROW: No posting. Out of town to discuss “The Seven Steps to Reality” with a group.]

From a site visitor: [After sending a private e-mail response to a woman, inviting her to stop playing “The Savior” role, she was driven to respond]: I am awake to the essence of being. Why shouldn’t I carry my message to others who are sick as I was? What would you suggest I do? I am a vessel of truth. Is it not selfish to keep it to myself?

F.: “Awake” and “my”? “Carry your message”? “Others”? “Sick as you were”? “Do” and “self”? “I am” followed by a label? “A vessel”? A purveyor of “truth”?

Dear Vessel,
No more responses will be offered to you after this final pointer: Only among the Realized would the logic of emptying each vessel be understood. Among personas, vessels are believed to be of value when they are full of something. It is suggested again that you stay away from people and audiences for a period, that you go into the silence instead, that you see that you really are full of something, and that you find out what it is that you’re really full of.

To all other site visitors: Evidence is provided above to show that persons who are only parroting the words can claim in one sentence to be enlightened but reveal in the next that they are not. Additional pointers that can be garnered are these: during their dream, dreamers are convinced that they are awake. Those not in touch with reality can stand in the dark and claim that they are in the light. Only the ego thinks that it has valuable knowledge that others need to know. Only ego seeks a captive audience. Only ego believes that persons need to know more. Only those trapped in duality see “others.” To “do” is also about ego. Use of “possessives” (as in “my message”) is about ego. Anything associated with the relative that follows “I am” is a lie. As for “the truth,” it can be known but it cannot be stated. Since it cannot be stated, no one can share truth. Among the Realized, the “emptiness,” the Void, the Nothingness is understood in the beingness; it is personas who engage in doingness and who think that they are full of knowledge and intelligence when they are actually full of self…and full of much more. Please enter the silence of contemplation.

From a site visitor: You might remember that I ordered a copy of FROM THE I TO THE ABSOLUTE not long ago. I agree with Tyla that it’s the most important book I’ve ever read, but two questions came up while I was reading. 1. When the manifesting is taking place, the conscious-energy, as you referred to it, is moving from the field and headed toward manifestation in some physical form or matrix. You show its movement from the Absolute to the True Self to the witness to the Child Ignorance stage. First, what is the difference in the True Self and the witness? Also, it seems that the True Self and witness would come after the Child Ignorance stage. Why do you teach the reverse? (This is not to debate your teaching, just to understand it.) Thank you. Randall

F.: [Continued from yesterday] As was the case when the conscious-energy was “coming into” manifestation, so it is as the conscious-energy is “going out of” the manifest state. Exactly as the consciousness functioned in the plant during the “coming into” manifestation stage (merely witnessing and functioning without hindrance of identity or “mind”) so the consciousness functions in the True Self state. Exactly as the consciousness functioned in the plant during the “coming into” manifestation stage (when all happened spontaneously without words or thought) the same happens at the Pure Witnessing step: silence begins to prevail, and thinking ends because the Realized are out of their “minds.” (That is, they are free of being influenced by that source of fiction called “the mind,” free of being influenced by that storehouse of fantasy, free of being influenced by that spring of magical, supernatural thinking and that author of beliefs in the supernatural.) Natural, AS IF living then happens for the remainder of the manifestation. The I AM has “merged” into the I AM THAT, so not even a hint of duality survives: no body survives, no “mind” survives, no religious or spiritual persona survives, no personality at all survives. Just as mirages disappear with the leaving of the light, so the mirages of body, mind, and personality disappear with the coming of the Light.

That is the order in which the manifesting and unmanifesting happens as the conscious-energy cycles “in” and cycles “out.” It is suspected that by way of this response to your questions, You now understand. For other visitors who might not yet understand, the invitation is to go into the quiet and continue to ponder (a) how it happens that the body and mind and personality come to be blindly accepted as identities among persons and (b) how those assumptions are abandoned during the Realization process. Entrapment in body identification (that false “I”) is the point that is "farthest removed" from the Absolute, but it can be the beginning of the end of entrapment if forfeited as an identity.

Reflect on the way it was in order to understand the way it can be. Reflect on that first stage of manifestation as You, the conscious-energy, were manifested in a plant. That is where You were days prior to conception. Recall how You—the Pure Consciousness—were functioning, and know that Realization will allow You to function in that same free and natural manner again. To Realize is to discard all “learned ignorance” and then return to Your original, earliest state of manifestation and function now as You functioned then: conscious-energy functioning naturally in conjunction with the life-force of circulating oxygen, all moving within the space of temporarily combined elements.

If that happens, You will once again identify with nothing. Once again, no thinking will happen since You will have rejected the “mind” (realizing that it is a cesspool of contaminated ideas and concepts and beliefs). All that happens will merely happen, and it will all happen spontaneously and naturally. The consciousness will witness, but the never-ending flow of words will begin to taper off, and eventually (as the consciousness ripens and matures) “thought-words” and “mind”-stuff will end. As the state of Pure Consciousness is reached, You will observe both the consciousness and the Absolute. The very act of being able to observe the consciousness evidences that ultimately You are also apart from that consciousness which You are observing. You have transcended even the I-Amness. As You observe the Absolute, You become aware of the Wholeness and become aware that You are actually apart from nothing. At that True Self level, You have reached the state of Full Awareness.

For all protégés that are still seeking, focus on each of the seven steps, understand each in its order, and contemplate the stages until You complete “The Seven-Step Journey to Reality.” Please enter the silence of contemplation. For more, see FROM THE I TO THE ABSOLUTE (A Seven-Step Journey to Reality) at www.floydhenderson.com.
