FROM A SITE VISITOR: Why do so few ever realize?
F.: It should be seen that the factors that prevent most persons from ever Realizing are the same factors that block the Pure Consciousness and thus distort witnessing. In that case, no Pure Witnessing can happen. Under those conditions, the Pure Witness—the True Self—cannot see the false; cannot, therefore, see the truth; and most certainly cannot see Self.
The major obstacles to Full Realization that have been discussed so far include religion when it inspires fixation and adoption of new personas; personality; spirituality when it inspires fixation and "practices" and adoption of new personas; and ignorance of all kinds. Another obstacle, especially in some societies more than others, is culture-wide programming to accumulate:
ACCUMULATION VS. DE-ACCUMULATION
Out of touch with the unicity, persons experience a sense of emptiness…of longing…of “need.” In Greek mythology, one tale that was told involved a case in which certain offended gods decided to punish humans by splitting them in two and making one-half male and the other half female.
Then, the gods dispersed the separate halves across the face of the planet and set up all persons to engage in what would amount to an endless search for their “other half” in order to feel whole and complete. Thus began the nonsensical concept of having "a soul mate out there."
The odds were very much against their ever finding what it was that they thought they needed to feel whole, trapping them in an arduous and exhausting search that constantly left them feeling incomplete and tired and frustrated and discontent and irritable and restless.
The irony was that those persons never “realized” that, if they had everything they needed to engage in so draining an exercise as that kind of search, then they obviously already had everything that was required to function independently without needing anything or anyone.
The search was needless. They were already where they were trying to get to. They already were exactly what they were trying to be.
It was all a “mind job” that was done to them, and the only thing needed to be free was to be free of the influence of that accumulation of fiction called “the mind.”
And all the while the gods sat back and laughed at the persons who were continuously punishing themselves. Their programmers had gotten the ball rolling, but it was all of those persons—made illogical and therefore blind to the actual facts of their existence—who sustained the initial hoax by their continuing self-deception.
It is the Advaitin alone who comes forth to say, “You do not need more knowledge, more searching, more seeking, more concepts, or more information. You need less. After you see that you need less, You might see that you need…nothing.
“That nothingness is what I bring. I have nothing to teach you. I come to un-teach you so that you can see the setup; the hoax; the self-deception; and the lies of ‘need’ and ‘incompletion.’
“Then You can know the wholeness that already is. The requirement is merely a willingness to discard ‘your’ belief in what ‘they’ told you about what is good and what is bad; about what you need; about what you should do; about how you should live; about how you should not live; and about how you should think and talk and behave.”
To buy into "their" lie that there is something external (that is, to buy into "their" lie that there is something “out there somewhere” that you must find and get and keep in order to feel whole and to be happy) is the very belief that will prevent Your knowing Who/What You Truly Are; that will prevent you from knowing that You already Are where you are trying to go;
and that will prevent You from Witnessing clearly that You "have" all that is required for the remainder of the manifestation to happen in a way that is not burdened any longer by having been tricked—by having been fooled—by those programmers who sent you out on a hopeless but needless search that will be endless unless Realization happens. Please enter the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)
