F.: In his level-appropriate manner, Maharaj did discuss "the mind" with seekers who were stuck in the bog on the early steps of the "path," but his points paralleled "the use of thorns" metaphor. That is, use the mind to be rid of the mind and then be done with it all.
Here, in some of the books that are geared for seekers at that same early place on the "path," a suggestion is made that it is the "working mind," not the "thinking mind," that can facilitate the manifestation of the understanding. Yet just beyond the midpoint of the seven-step "journey" to reality, the "mind" ends - no matter what type mind it is called for the sake of the teachings (un-teachings). How?
If the "mind" is merely a warehouse for beliefs - beliefs that are all false - then the abandonment of beliefs will abruptly bring to an end the "mind" itself.
Take a jar to be the brain. Take a quantity of dark green, putrid swamp water to be the "mind" that is filling the jar / brain. Nothing can be seen clearly if trying to look at it through the jar filled with vile, contaminated swamp water.
If you dump out the water, however, then the jar remains, and if you then try to look at things through the jar that has been emptied of all of the putrid contaminants that had earlier blocked your view, then you can see things clearly.
A jar can be quite handy during the manifestation. It can have many uses, but vile and putrid contaminants are useless. If You come to see that your parents and extended family; your so-called "friends" and "lovers";
your local and national leaders; your other influencers; and your entire culture filled your jar with vile and putrid contaminants, you need not hate them for they know not what they do.
On the other hand, it would be insane to save the rank and rancid contents and it would also be insane to shatter the jar that can continue to be of use for the remainder of the manifestation. You need not destroy the jar to be rid of the contaminants stored within the jar.
Guard the brain, but toss out the rank and rancid contents that have been placed in that part of the brain called "the mind." Then, the consciousness can once again see clearly, all of the blockages having been removed.
Please enter the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)
