A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Maharaj made clear that the scourge of the planet - the "Ultimate Sickness" - is rooted in duality and that duality is rooted in "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity."
A prime sustainer of "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity" is blind faith ... that is, the unwillingness to question any of the learned ignorance that persons have been taught by persons who are, or were, also suffering from "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity." That attachment to blind faith and to an aversion to question objectively is itself rooted in programming and conditioning and acculturation and domestication.
Yet even the most intelligent can behave in the most ignorant ways imaginable. Last week, a highly-regarding U.S. scientist, while discussing the way that blind faith typically inspires the refusal to accept scientifically-proved facts as being factual, began his response with this: "I don't have a problem with people believing what they are taught by their religions, but ...."
He was interrupted at that point by the interviewer who said, "Wait. Stop. What do you mean 'you don't have a problem with people believing what they are taught by their religions, but ....'? There is no 'both this and that' possibility in this case; either one functions under the influence of blind faith or one accepts that proven facts are really facts."
This was also written by a journalist last week who had interviewed several scientists for an article:
"Meteors that streak across Earth's sky mostly are fragments of the asteroids that lie between Mars and Jupiter. Meteorites can be rich in organic compounds, including some found among life on Earth.
"Recently, scientists have unexpectedly discovered the ingredients for life — organic molecules never seen before in meteorites — inside a chunk of space rock that fell to Earth over California last year, scientists say.
"The discovery comes from an analysis of the so-called 'Sutter's Mill Meteorite' which lit up the California night sky with a dazzling fireball in April of 2012. Meteorite fragments from the event may shed light on the primordial ooze that helped give rise to life on Earth, researchers said."
As noted here on occasion, all is energy-matter and neither energy nor matter can be created or destroyed. They have existed forever, though their presence in what is called "this universe" only began about 13.8 billion years ago. (Not 6000 years ago, which is the belief of many Christians who accept as literal truth every word and statement included in the five books of Moses - "the Pentateuch" - which are a part of what they call their "Old Testament"? No. Not 6000 years. 13.8 billion years ago. Now, many "education boards" in the U.S. - especially in the South - are once again trying to remove all references to evolution in science textbooks and replacing those teachings with the religion-based theory of "creationism." Much of the "ignorance and stupidity and insanity" which Maharaj spoke of perpetuates the false concept of "creation" and the false concept of "A Creator.")
There is no need at this point to speak of how a (misnamed) "universe" begins, but as is always the case, energy-matter cycles. Energy matter does not appear and disappear along a man-made timeline of a beginning-middle-end-judgment-an-eternal-reward-or-an-eternal-punishment continuum.
And because that which always was, always is, and always shall be cannot possibly have a beginning or a "creation," then this must logically follow:
Because there was no "creation," there cannot possibly have been "A Creator." That is not speculation. That is a knowable fact that can be reached by the use of simple, syllogistic reasoning.
A syllogism is an instance of a form of reasoning in which a conclusion is drawn from two given facts, resulting not in the blind acceptance of more and more "beliefs" but in the manifestation of logic and reason which leads to the purging of all false beliefs:
1. "A" = "B"
2. "B" = "C"
therefore,
3. "A" = "C"
or
1. All is energy-matter
2. Neither energy nor matter can be created or destroyed
therefore,
3. Nothing has been created so there cannot possibly have been "a creation"
[That is also why no one has ever been "born" and why no "parents" have ever "created" a "child." That which is - energy / matter - is merely cycling.]
and
1. All is energy-matter
2. Energy-matter have always existed so nothing has been created
therefore,
3. Because nothing have ever been created, there cannot be "A Creator"
and
1. There was no "creation"
2. There was not - and is not - a creator
therefore,
3. there could not have been any creation "in his own image" (or "their own image," according to some religions that believe in multiple gods and goddesses)
The dogma of many ancient religions includes the belief that there were - or are - three types of gods and goddesses, each with specialized skills and tasks:
A. "creator gods and goddesses,"
B. "sustainer gods and goddesses,"
and
C. "destroyer gods and goddesses"
After Abraham's declaration that "there is only one god," then in the three religions founded on his teachings (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) the earlier beliefs about those godly, specialized tasks remained but they were all rolled into one deity who is taken to be not only a creator and a sustainer but also a destroyer. The present version of a schizophrenic, unstable, sociopathic god that creates and sustains but will - ironically - also destroy and / or punish eternally, is a result of the old god-and-goddesses-theory being blended with the newer theory of a single, male god. Any god that is supposedly loving but is also willing to destroy and punish eternally would be suffering from both the Borderline Personality Disorder and the Sociopathic Personality Disorder.
The follow can be understood if you first understand the manner in which the totality functions:
1. If you want a "reward" / happiness / peace / etc., then take the steps to finds that now; there will be no later for "you," there is only now, so that which you would enjoy must be enjoyed now.
2. There is no punishment awaiting you. Fear not. (After Jesus Realized, he reportedly taught this: "No one shall ever see the kingdom of heaven. It is within." Want to enjoy whatever you were taught about a wonderful life that awaits? It does not. Enjoy whatever is to be enjoyed now.)
3. Been taught that you must give 10% of everything you earn to religion or that you must sacrifice things to your gods and goddesses or that you must go here or there and pay homage to this god or that goddess? Keep your money and spend both it and your time meeting the basic needs of the plant food body and engaging in whatever entertainment you might enjoy now.
4. Chill. Relax.
5. Abide naturally, not un-naturally and not super-naturally.
Please enter the silence of contemplation.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: In recent posts these pointers have been offered:
F.: In recent posts these pointers have been offered:
1. All roles will generate misery and suffering eventually, no matter how much pleasure they seem to provide early on.
2. Role assignment and / or assumption is at the root of what Maharaj identified as the blight of humanity: "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity." And those do not make "ignorant or stupid or insane persons" but they do constantly generate ignorant or stupid or insane actions all day long, every day, all around the globe.
3. The roles of A "Husband" and "Wife" and "Employee" and "Employer" and "Christian" and "Jew" and "Hindu" and "Muslim Jihadists" and "Christian Warrior" and "Shia" and "Sunni" and "Super Child" and "Super Parent" and every other role that persons play are as bogus as being the child of a barren woman (and of a virgin woman as well).
4. By contrast, understanding the nothingness can end all arrogance-based nonsense and upgrading. No one Fully Realized has ever said, "Not only am I nothing, but I am actually 'Super Nothing'."
And this was shared in a 2007 post:
5. As soon as an ego-state is assigned or adopted, ego-defense mechanisms elevate that role to “Super Status”: If hired by a school district, “The Teacher” immediately becomes “The Super Teacher” and cannot exist without super students. She or he will rant and rave when non-super students appear to threaten that false ego-state’s existence.
When a man in a robe pronounces a man “Husband,” he immediately become “The Super Husband” and cannot exist without a super wife; and when a woman accepts the cultural assignment of being “The Wife,” she immediately upgrades the illusion to “The Super Wife” and can never be happy unless she has a super husband.
When he appears to be super, she can be content, but when chinks in the armor appear, she will be unhappy. Such is the instability of a relative existence that is being played out on a stage where co-dependent roles are being assumed as identities.
After such widespread distortion of the consciousness, it is no wonder that egotism (and its accompanying misery and suffering) so dominate the planet. When wives inform husbands that “they are leaving,” many husbands cry out, “But I have been a good husband. Why would you want to leave me?” (Again, there is an upgrade of the childhood illusion that "I am a boy," which becomes "I am a good boy" which becomes "I am a man" which becomes "I am a husband" which becomes "I am a good husband" who is shocked if "Wife" does not see it that way.)
Some divorced females have admitted in sessions that their conviction was that “I was a good wife, a great wife, in fact.” Their belief was, “You have not provided what someone as good as I am deserves.” (Again, there is the upgrading of an illusion: “I am a human” becomes “I am a wife,” and I am a wife” is eventually upgraded to “I am ‘The Super Wife’ who deserves this, this, and that.”)
Some divorced men who have visited here have made the same claim about being a "Really Good Husband" ... a "Fabulous Husband" in fact.
Those whose relative experiences have included the ill fortune of working for "The Super Boss" know what misery ego-state assumption can generate; those who have worked in an office with "The Super Employee" know what misery ego-state assumption can generate; those whose relative experiences have included the ill fortune of dealing with "The Super Husband" or "the Super Wife" know what misery ego-state assumption can generate.
Those who have had to suffer through a visit from "The Super Parent" types discussed in the past post know the discomfort (or even disgust?) that those ego-states can generate; and those, on the other hand, who have dealt with "The Super Disciplinarian" rather than the indulgent parent, know what misery ego-state assumption can generate.
And those who have dealt with "The Super Patriot," "The Super Soldier," "The Super Cop," "The Super Christian," "The Super Muslim," "The Super Hindu," "The Super Advaitin," "The Super AA-er" / "The Super Twelve-Stepper," "The Super Religious One," or "The Super Spiritual One" (and have lived to tell about it) know what misery ego-state assumption can generate.
In fact, all whose relative experiences have included the ill fortune of lengthy exposure to one playing the role of a persona that has upgraded itself to "Super Status" will all know what misery ego-state assumption can generate.
Again, no one Fully Realized has ever said, "Not only am I nothing, but I am actually 'Super Nothing'." And no one Fully Realized has any belief at all, including the belief that she or he is a "Super" version of anything.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Duality is simply a perspective, a means of "seeing," yet it is a means of "seeing" in a distorted fashion.
Innately, a sense of the Oneness Is. If a child is raised by the one whose voice was heard from the womb, that child for a year-and-a-half or more will find that person to be more than familiar: the child will find that person to be itself. That is the innate sense of Oneness.
Around the age of two, the child will have discovered its own foot and hand and body and will develop an awareness of its body that is now no longer "a part of" but is "apart from" ... that is now "separate from." The child detects the concept of "two-ness" as opposed to advaita (meaning "not two"). Even before language allows for the teaching of the thousands of dualistic concepts that the child will eventually hear, body / self-identification begins the process of buying into a belief in two-ness.
Here in the States, there is a term discussed in more detail elsewhere on this site. The term is "The Terrible Two's." That is the period when the previously cooperative and dependent child begins to break away, to rebel, to be less cooperative, and to be less dependent.
When walking, the child no longer wants to walk with the parents and hold a parent's hand; instead, the child wants to run ahead of the parent or parents. Hating the child's rebelliousness and independent nature (which should be allowed to blossom naturally to the degree that safety allows), a battle of the wills begins instead.
The belief among most is that the child's rebellious nature must be squelched. The child must conform. And if the parents are not successful in bringing that about, in a few years there is a school that awaits which will assure that such conformity manifests and is maintained.
The child will be put in desk 3 on row 6 and will stay there in that same spot for a school year. Rules will be discussed on day one and then written and posted on a bulletin board. They will be strictly enforced in some schools and poorly enforced in others, yet uniformity will be the overall goal culture-wide.
And that uniformity will include a dualistic viewpoint or point of view that is learned, not innate. That brief sense of Oneness that was manifest earlier on will remain in the subconscious, and much of what some persons do throughout the relative existence will involve a quest to find again that which is "missing," though "what that / THAT is" is not identifiable in most cases.
There will be an inner longing, a sense of disconnect and brokenness and separation and detachment, and among those that have "an intimation of the authenticity that once was," there will be a drive to fight the programming and conditioning that inspire disengagement and division and a false sense of separation.
Yet that is a small minority, headed up by Personality Type Fours who account for 1/2 of 1% of the planet's population but joined by a few more types who are - like Type Fours and children aged two to three - willing to question authority and not crater in the face of authority's continuous efforts to reshape and remold and remake the rebel into a docile individual.
And indeed, most children and adults as well will be broken by "the system" which is rooted in duality and which fosters duality and which disseminates duality via concepts (and misconceptions) and ideas and notions and thoughts and perceptions (that is, misperceptions) and theories (all of which amount to one's accumulated "beliefs").
And beliefs are the nourishment that sustains fools, those who have been fooled and who now take their accumulated personalities (which are the basis of the planet's widespread instances of Multiple Personality Disorder) to be real. If they don't believe that they are the children of barren women, there are still 97% of the earth's population who are foolish enough to believe that their "holy prophet" or their "savior" or their "founding sage" was born of a virgin without any required sexual activity.
And some wonder why the motto of religions and many philosophies and ideologies of the planet is, "If it feels good, stop it!" When the best and purest came into being without sex, then all others "born" of - or participating in - sexual activities are less than pure.
It was shared earlier that duality is simply a perspective, a means of "seeing," yet it is a means of "seeing" in a distorted fashion. What does that look like in practice? In order to see just one example, look at that concept dealing with "sex and purity and impurity" which suggests that sexual activity is a less-than-pure activity.
While every living thing on the planet engages in natural, guiltless, pleasurable sexual activities, humans are different. And in that unnatural difference, sexual problems and sexual dysfunction and sexual frustration drive much of the angst and fighting on the planet.
It inspires religious and spiritual and political leaders to tell others what they can and cannot do with their bodies; to suggest that the sex act must be for procreation only; and drives Catholic missionaries in Africa to tell people who have a greater than usual chance of contracting AIDS that they must nevertheless refrain from using condoms because birth control is contrary to "the Will of God."
Duality not only generates distortion and relatively-destructive behaviors; it does indeed, as Maharaj said, foster "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity" all around the globe.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.:
One of the curses of dualistic thinking / ideas / concepts / notions (a.k.a., "beliefs") is the fact that they leave people so ignorant that they do not have a clue about Who (i.e., What) They Really Are.
Having no clue about Who (i.e., What) They Really Are, they unquestioningly believe that they are what they are told they are, and all of the multiple identities which they believe define them have their own subconscious agendas, fears, and desires which - in turn - determine every thought they think, every word they speak, and every action they take, such as:
"Do you believe in God?"
"No."
BOOM! Dead.
"Do you believe in God?"
"Yes."
"Do you believe in my conception of God?"
"No."
BOOM! Dead.
With the coming of the non-dual understanding comes the end of all (false) sense of separation. Oneness and Love replace duality and fear and hatred and loathing. All else beyond non-duality is an instrument of separation and an instrument of a false sense of better-than-ment and an instrument of a sense of different-from-ment.
Those instruments include all sorts of so-called "spiritual" organizations and movements which are nothing more than what Maharaj called examples of "kindergarten spirituality." Those instruments also include all religions past and present, every god or God or goddess, and every so-called "holy book" ... all instruments of separation that foster hate while speaking of "love."
Those instruments also include all political parties; all city and state and national and international boundaries; all sects and denominations and ideologies and philosophies; and any and every other source that assigns or encourages the assumption of false ego-states (an assumption which sets the stage for the manifestation of two other instruments of separation, namely egotism and arrogance).

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Yesterday this was offered:
And the roles of A "Husband" and "Wife" and "Employee" and "Employer" and "Christian" and "Jew" and "Hindu" and "Muslim Jihadists" and "Christian Warrior" and "Shia" and "Sunni" and "Super Child" and "Super Parent" and every other role that persons play are as bogus as being the child of a barren woman (or a virgin woman as well).
Again, all roles will generate as misery and suffering eventually, no matter how much pleasure they seem to provide early on.
Here, examples of "pointers in action" are always offered, so consider the evidence of the pointers above as they played out in real time in Iraq recently as three truck drivers were slain because they were found to be were members of "the wrong religion" by some self-proclaimed "Sunni jihadists." Various media shared this account recently of the murders that happen a few months ago:
"A video emerged earlier this week depicting the July 2 execution of three Syrian truck drivers on a highway in western Iraq. In the footage, which was first posted on YouTube on August 25, three trucks were stopped at a road block so that the Sunnis could interrogate the three drivers about their religious background.
"Question were asked about their prayer habits and methods, and their answers proved that they were not Sunnis but were practicing "Alawites," that is, members of a mystical branch of Shiite Islam - not Sunni Islam.
"At that point, the three drivers were led to the side of the road, forced to knell, and were executed at close range. After they were dead, each body was shot another dozen times as the executioners shouted, 'Allahu Akbar' ('God is Great' or, more literally, "God is Greater' ... implying 'than anything else')."
This provides the opportunity for the next pointer: yes, all roles will generate misery and suffering eventually, no matter how much pleasure they seem to provide early on; however, as roles are being played, sometimes the duality involved will mean that one party's pleasure might continue for a time at the expense of the other party / parties involved.
For example, consider how many marriages have one partner who is supposedly "content" with the arrangement while the other role player in the "relationship" (which is a totally dualistic concept in itself) is miserable.
Consider other examples of the pleasure-pain continuum:
1. In the U.S. (according to UNICEF), over 2000 children are killed annually in their own homes. Add to that number the others killed in gang-related violence or in random acts of violence. Add in the others who die because their parents' religious beliefs demand that only prayer can be used to bring about healing and the belief that turning to any outside medical care for healing is "evidence of a lack of faith."
Then, contrast how much relative pleasure most parents felt when their child was "born" with how much relative misery came eventually to family or friends when the child died.
2. Consider the misery when "The Employee" role ends because "The Employer" terminated "The Employee's" employment.
3. Recall videos showing Sunnis screaming at the top of their lungs in agony when mourning the death of one of their own who was killed by Shia attackers who shouted "Allahu Akbar!"; then recall videos showing Shias screaming at the top of their lungs in agony when mourning the death of one of their own who was killed by Sunni attackers who shouted "Allahu Akbar!"
When a false identity comes to an end because the co-dependent, counterpart player in any dualistic pairing is no longer available to play the role, misery comes.
But behind it all is this:
Role assignment and / or assumption is at the root of what Maharaj identified as the blight of humanity: "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity." And those do not make "ignorant or stupid or insane persons" but they do constantly generate ignorant or stupid or insane actions all day long, every day, all around the globe.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Yesterday this was offered:
Yes, Maharaj said that for some it is enough to understand who you are not. Agreed. But if both the beingness and the non-beingness are not understood, then the "No-Longer-'This'-Or-'That' Roles" will generate as much suffering as the false roles that are assumed as identities.
Per the Second Law of Thermodynamics, all that comes together will eventually come apart. That applies to those involved in the variety of games that are played when persons assume roles which all require a co-dependent, counterpart partner whose presence is required for illusory roles to continue to be taken as real and for those assuming illusory roles as identities to continue to play their games.
A "Husband" player must be present for the role of "Wife" to be assumed and played, and vice-versa.
An "Employee" role player must be present for the role of "Employer" to be assumed and played, and vice-versa.
A "Christian or Jewish or Hindu" role player must be present for the role of "Muslim Jihadist" to be assumed and played, and the role of "Muslim Jihadists" must be played for "Christian Warrior" role players to take their rifles that are engraved with Biblical scriptures into battle to slay the "Muslim Jihadists" role players.
A "Shia" role player must be present for the oppositional role of "Sunni" to be assumed and played, and vice-versa.
A "Super Child" role player must be present for the role of "Super Parent" to be assumed and played, and vice-versa.
Ad infinitum.
And the roles of A "Husband" and "Wife" and "Employee" and "Employer" and "Christian" and "Jew" and "Hindu" and "Muslim Jihadist" and "Christian Warrior" and "Shia" and "Sunni" and "Super Child" and "Super Parent" and every other role that persons play are as bogus as being the child of a barren woman (or of a virgin woman as well).

Maharaj made clear that whatever gives you pleasure will eventually give you pain, and whatever gives you the most pleasure will eventually give you the most pain.
He also said: "Do not try to make yourself happy; rather, question your very search for happiness. It is because you are not happy that you want to be happy. Find out why you are unhappy. Because you are not happy you seek happiness in pleasure; pleasure brings in pain and therefore you call it worldly; you then long for some other pleasure, without pain, which you call divine. In reality, pleasure is but a respite from pain."

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Yesterday this was offered: "Being this or that" is a lie; "being this or that at one point but no longer being this or that now" is a lie as well.
Consider the confusion around being and non-being. It would be like someone saying this: "I thought in the past that I was a rock, but now that I am seeing clearly I understand that I am a not-rock." No. No you're not. Or it would be like someone saying this: "At one point, I was so confused that I thought I could be the child of a barren woman, but now that I am wise, I see that I am the 'non-child' of a barren woman."
For years, Christ believed the tale his mother told in order to escape stoning, namely that he was the "son of God"; however, after he was introduced to the non-dual teachings, he declared, "I am the son on [a] man." (Forget all of the lofty interpretations about what the term "The Son of Man" might mean. Just more nonsense.)
More significantly, what he did not say was, "I am the Not-Son of God."
It is impossible to "no-longer-be-now" what one never was; it is impossible to "no-longer-be" what one never was to start with. A man completing a form for an insurance policy years ago asked, "Married, single, divorced or widowed?" The reply: "No."
Alexander Pope warned that "a little learning is a dangerous thing." Those following jnana yoga would agree. Here, the pointer is this: "To complete a little of the seven-step path to Realization is a dangerous thing.
To reach the third of seven steps and fixate at the step where religious and spiritual roles are assumed as actual identities is a most dangerous thing, relatively speaking.
Look at the wars that are raging around the globe right now and see that most involve the members of one sect fighting the members of another sect; or see that Jews and Christians and Muslims are killing each other; or see that Muslims are killing Hindus; and if that is seen, the pointer above makes sense: completing a little of the "journey" and thinking one has arrived at the end of the path - when in fact even the midpoint has not been reached - is a very dangerous thing, relatively speaking.
The assumption that body-mind-personality identifications have any validity at all is a source of misery and suffering, if not immediately then at some later point for certain. As noted yesterday, consider the misery among those who were earlier clinging to the role of "The Husband" as a major identity but who now are clinging to the miserable role of "The Not-Husband" or the suffering-inducing identity of "The One Who Is No Longer a Husband."
Yes, Maharaj said that for some it is enough to "understand who you are not." Agreed. But if both the beingness and the non-beingness are not understood, then the "No-Longer-'This'-Or-'That' Roles" will generate as much suffering as any of the false roles that are assumed as identities.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: If you are presently an adult and someone said that "you are a dog," you would not believe that for a second; however, if you were a child and someone began telling you from early on that you're a dog, you would believe it.
If someone speaks to a child only in French, that child will eventually speak French; if someone speaks to that same child only in English, that child will eventually speak English; and if someone only makes barking sounds in the presence of that child, that child will eventually make barking sounds as well.
The child in the latter instance would have been fooled completely, and that is what happens to every child nowadays: every child is fooled by all of the nonsense that it is taught:
"You're a boy."
"You're a good boy."
"You were a bad boy today."
"You are a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Advaitin" ... ad infinitum.
Later:
"You are a Pentecostal woman so you must wear your hair long."
"You are a Muslim woman so you must cover your body from head to toe."
"You are a Christian woman so you must wear long skirts, not short skirts."
"I now pronounce that you are a wife."
"I now pronounce that you are a husband."
Later:
"I now assume that I am a super wife."
"I now assume that I am a super husband."
Consider: at this very moment, how many men on the planet are in complete misery because the persons (the ones who had been playing the co-dependent, counterpart role that is required for the ego-state of "The Husband" to believe that it is real) said, "I'm leaving you."
How many men right now are feeling as if they were being attacked, hurt, interfered with, threatened, and even destroyed when the co-dependent, counterpart player quit playing her role? And the personality identifications that generated all of that emotional intoxication were all based in a lie, a lie that made a fool of every person who has ever believed the one who proclaimed that "You are now a wife" or "You are now a husband."
To paraphrase Krishna, those who understand that THAT Which I Am is beyond both beingness and non-beingness are wise; all others are fools.
That is, all who believe that they are presently "being this" or "being that" - or who believe that they are no longer "being this or that" which they once were - are fools; i.e., they have been fooled.
If a man believes "I am a husband" but then later believes after his spouse leaves him that "I am a 'former husband' or a 'not-husband'," then he has been fooled completely by his culture, and being fooled is a sure-fire guarantee for misery and suffering (all rooted in personality assignment and / or adoption).
To paraphrase, if you are so foolish that you believe you are the false roles which have been assigned to you or which you have adopted, then you are also foolish enough to believe that you are the child of a barren woman.
[To illustrate how widespread such foolish is, consider the billions and trillions of Christians over the last two thousand years who have believed that they are members of a religion whose "Savior" was born of a virgin. There were twenty-two religions before Jesus was born that claimed their savior was born of a virgin; Jesus was the twenty-third whose mother made the claim (and her claim of being made pregnant not by a man but by God saved her from being stoned to death). And today, two billion people still believe in that fiction as a result of their blind, unquestioning faith; billions and trillions of Hindus have believed the tale set forth in the story of Krishna, that - as with Jesus - the deity is the agent of conception and also the offspring; billions of Buddhists over the years have believed that Buddha was conceived without sexual activity. Persons programmed early on will believe anything: "Born of a virgin? Okay." "Born of a barren woman? It's a miracle!"]
No personal identity has any validity, whether the personal identity involves any of the scores of personas that people assume or involves a deity or deities with some supposedly personal identification. And to believe that one's assigned or assumed personal identities are real is to be trapped in the misery-and-suffering-generated distortion that is the scourge of the non-Realized masses.
For the one who believed "I was a husband" and "I was a super husband" and who now believes that he is no longer "The Husband" (or is a "not-husband"), then misery and suffering is assured. He has missed completely the understanding offered in Krishna's pointer: That Which You Were, Are, and Shall Be is beyond beingness and not-beingness.
"Being this or that" is a lie; "being this or that at one point but no longer being this or that at a later point" is also a lie as well.

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part One
A "movement" or "shift" happened here that added another parallel to the many parallels in terms of the phenomenal "experiences" and the noumenal revelations that "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd" share in common. (Many visitors over the years have said that they also shared the same parallels with "Maharaj" and "Floyd" as well.)
In the case of "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd":
1. both grew up in very poor families 2. both moved to populated areas to seek employment opportunities 3. both exhibited business skills that led to their opening and operating many businesses and to their having a large number of employees working for them 4. both succeeded financially 5. both became attached to accumulating; 6. both married and had a family 7. both were initially religious 8. both moved away from organized religion and became interested in "spiritual" matters, finding and following the teachings of a big name teacher (or, in "Floyd's" case, many big name teachers) 9. both had highly religious wives who were quite displeased with the shift away from religion and toward "spirituality" 10. both began to feel empty in spite of all of their "spiritual seeking" and in spite of all of their accumulated "spiritual knowledge";

11. both began to de-accumulate after both saw that they could survive quite well on a fraction of the income they had been making
12. both had wives who were unhappy when the de-accumulation stage was entered and both had wives who became unhappy about their husbands' focus on non-duality and who blamed their unhappiness on no longer having a religious husband
(The facts be known, in both cases the unhappiness involved the fact that their husbands were no longer interested in - or willing - to work 80+ hours per week and that their husbands were no longer interested in accumulating wealth and possessions and providing the rich lifestyle to which their wives had grown accustomed)
13. both eventually came to see that the religious and spiritual states were also ego-states, and both saw that there are far more steps on the "path" to complete after reaching the religious and spiritual steps and after playing those roles which are the third of seven steps on the entire "path" 14. both "lost" their wives (one via "death," the other through divorce); 15. both accelerated their seeking; 16. both entered into the "forest dweller stage" 17. both Realized 18. both began to de-accumulate even more
19. both began sharing the teachings 20. for years, both answered questions in whatever order those questions were received, though both said that the movement from identification with the false "I" / "I's" involved an exact, step-wise manner of moving along a "path" that involved "going back" in the same (but reverse order) of the way they "came in" - that is, the way that the manifestation happened and the way that the consciousness was blocked through seven stages that resulted in their becoming identified solely with their false personas, with the content of the "mind," and eventually, with the body. But the most significant awareness that finally came to both after years of offering satsang and after having answered thousands and thousands of questions was this: After years of "Maharaj" offering satsang in his loft, and after years of "Floyd" offering satsang in meeting halls and in his home and via what one site visitor called "Floyd's electronic loft," this fact became obvious to both: "Maharaj" came to see in the 1970's and into 1980 and 1981 that his approach was not working and "Floyd" finally came to see the same.

21. Both saw that many who heard the teachings are not going to understand (Maharaj reporting that "only 1 in 100,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding)
22. both soon saw that even more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj modifying his "guesstimate" and reporting that "only 1 in 1,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding)
23. eventually both saw that even far more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj eventually concluding that "only 1 in 10,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding). And the failings were not the fault of seekers.
A "one -in-ten-million" estimate is proof that satsang was not working for most seekers, and the evidence here lately is proof of the same.
Both "Maharaj" and "Floyd" invited seekers to focus on the exact, step-wise "path." Yes, during satsang, "Maharaj" sometimes alluded to the steps while discussing them in no particular order - but he never once laid out the steps in the exact order in which they had to be completed. That was not his teachings style or approach.
Therefore, another movement or shift is happening here spontaneously after reflecting on the more than two decades since the teachings were first offered here and looking at the results of Maharaj sharing pointers in his loft and looking at the results of "Floyd" sharing pointers in this electronic loft: Looking objectively at his results, Maharaj's satsang method of sharing - in the end and by his own admission (only "one out of 10,000,000") - did not produce the intended outcome.
Looking objectively at the results here when using an "electronic loft" satsang method of sharing has not produced the intended outcome nearly as often as any of the three "face-to-face" methods used with seekers by which they have been led through the seven steps in order.
Here, the body is growing older, of course. Mahasamadhi could be taken today, or it could be taken in twenty years.
Obviously, that cannot be known. But the decision here has been made that whatever amount of the relative existence remains shall be spent in sharing the teachings in the ways that have been seen over the last 20+ years to be the most effective methods.
Looking back over the list of those that have truly received the understanding, it is seen that Robert R. read all of the books, then took the online Advaita course and then completed some face-to-face Skype sessions to receive the final clarifications required. It was seen that Mac read all of the books, completed the online course, and then attended a retreat where he was guided through the seven steps. Mac said that the online course work inspired him to attend the retreat in order to be able to receive the final "pieces." It was seen that Andy Gugar, Jr. read all of the books, then came here for a retreat and was taken through the seven steps in order, and then returned once more for the final clarifications required. After reviewing the shifts that happened with him after attending two retreats, he reaffirmed this past week his commitment to helping spread the non-duality, nisarga understanding as presented here. As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what had not "worked" as well - changes will be made.
SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two
In "Part One," examples were given of seekers that were led to Realization not by satsang but by following the various protocols outlined farther down this page which provide the understanding in the step-wise, orderly, required fashion which moves seekers along a "path" that is as prescribed by Maharaj ... "going back" in the "reverse order" by which the consciousness manifested and became blocked.
However, conversations with some that just read the majority of the books have revealed that they certainly seem to have grasped the understanding and Realized as well.
As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what has "not worked" as well - changes are being made.
There are seven specific steps that happen when awareness-energy is "pulled" into a cycle of manifestation. When that energy manifests as conscious-energy, that formerly pure and unadulterated energy becomes "corrupted" (or "blocked" from seeing clearly) via programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, and brainwashing. Soon, there is a belief in the not-Real as a result of seven degrees of separation from an understanding of the Real.
Using the method that was also employed by his contemporaries - a method which focused on offering non-duality pointers via satsang - Maharaj addressed questions in the order in which they were received. He might receive a question from a seeker at the third step and his reply would include what amounted to an invitation to move to the fourth step. The next question might come from a seeker at the first step, and the reply would include an invitation to move to the second step.
The information offered to the second seeker would seemingly contradict what was offered to the first seeker, so visitors who have come here for decades have asked questions which showed how confused they were by the fact that Maharaj's statements to each visitor in his loft were "level-appropriate" yet were provided in no precise order, resulting in what seemed to be an inconsistent message.
So the process overall was confusing in that
seekers were told to follow the "path back" in the same way that they "came in," except in reverse order,
but
pointers were not given in a specific, step-wise order at all.
Maharaj did recognize the seven steps that are taught here, but by offering the teachings in an order that was dictated by the order in which questions were received from seekers who were at different steps on the "path," the result was this:
a pointer about moving beyond the fourth step might be followed by a pointer about moving beyond the first step, and that pointer might be followed by a pointer about how to move beyond the sixth step.
The same was done on this site for seven years. The result is a collection of 1,800 or so essays discussing almost every non-duality topic that can be discussed, and the search button on the top right side of this page will now allow seekers with a question about a specific topic to find an explanation. That method, however, will never provide the manner in which the seven steps on the "path" must be transmitted and received in order to Realize Fully.
An objective study of the history here of more than twenty years of offering non-duality pointers reveals this: seekers that were given pointers in the exact order in which they needed to receive them were the ones that Realized.
They read the books, then they completed the online course and / or completed seven Skype or telephone sessions or came here for a retreat (or watched the downloadable DVD version of an actual retreat, available below).
Some found that which they were seeking by reading the author's book that deal with non-duality subject matter. Via all of those venues, the steps are taught in their proper order.
The essays available on this site will remain for those interested in searching for a discussion of a particular non-duality topic without charge, but the focus here until mahasamadhi is taken is going to be on offering the teachings in the step-wise fashion that has been seen to work.

This anthology of four books by Floyd Henderson contains the volumes that make up what has been called "The Advanced Seekers' Series" for those seeking Realization via the Advaita teachings
This anthology contains the six books that make up what has been called "The Blissful Abidance Series" for those seeking to live blissfully and happily for the remainder of the manifestation, including these books
This book can be read as a "Stand-Alone eBook" or as a "Companion Piece" or "Follow-Up" to be read after "When Only Three Hours of Manifestation Remain."
The author of this book is also the co-author of a book with Mark Houston entitled "A Twelve-Step Journey to SELF-Transformation"
After having guided over 8,000 people through the Twelve Steps, the focus eventually turned toward working with the few who have been seeking recovery for some time but sense that "there must be something more" or who have said, "I am still not where I want to be." A few - even with double-digit "sobriety" - have said, "I don't want to drink ... I want to die."

[Please note: When the Direct Path Teaching Method is offered in conjunction with the Nisarga Yoga, something unique results when compared to what happens via the approach used by religions, spiritual movements, philosophies, ideologies, etc.:
rather than inviting seekers to learn more, the invitation here is to unlearn all; rather than offerings teachings, what is offered are unteachings; rather than offering to provide seekers more of anything, seekers will find that the process will take away everything. And via that process, the bliss of Your Original Nature will manifest and remain until mahasamadhi is taken.
To that end, the content of this book will seem radical to the seekers of more, but for those truly ready to be totally free and totally independent - and for those who are truly ready to abandon efforts to accumulate and to de-accumulate instead - the pointers in this book might be relevant.]
