Today's Considerations

Mind and personality cannot be separated. They are the conjoined twins of all deception and distortion. For freedom and peace to manifest, the mind must go, and if the mind goes, so does the belief in any false identity (or “Identity” or “Supreme Identity”).

If the mind does not go, then one will be driven by (a) the belief systems which were set in place by “others” and will be driven by (b) the subconscious agendas of all of the false identities which have been assigned or assumed.

Because of mind and personality identification, humans no longer have the ability to make conscious choices. The longer they live, the fewer choices they will be able to make because (1) the more mind content there will have been accumulated and because (2) the more false identities with subconscious agendas they will have accumulated.

An old adage is, “Monkey see, monkey do”:

That applies in terms of religious affiliations; political affiliations; beliefs about race and people of different skin color; attitudes about national pride and xenophobia; in fact, about every belief that has been passed down from one generation to the next and accepted with blind faith as being "the truth."

A recent study provided the percent of people raised in a particular religion who reported that they are still currently members of that same religion:

Protestant: 90.4%; Jewish: 86.6%; and Catholic: 82.3. Numbers in the Middle East and Far East are much higher. (Some shifts and exceptions are now happening in the U.S. Twenty years ago, the numbers of those adhering to their parents' religion were all in the 95%+ range. In recent decades in the U.S., the number claiming to be Christian has fallen to 70%. Worldwide, however, there are still 97% claiming a religious affiliation, and most of those affiliations are with the religion passed on to their parents and then passed on to them.)

One writer wrote: “Many people claim that they believe in their faith because they claim to intrinsically ‘know’ it to be absolutely true” but “a certain percentage of people believe what they were raised to believe regardless of what it might be.”

The seekers Maharaj worked with initially were almost still highly influenced by their Hindu roots. Almost all at Jonestown drank the Kool-Aid. All but one of the members of Marshall Applegate’s cult committed suicide in order to link up with a spacecraft that was supposedly trailing Comet Hale-Bopp in order to be transported to "a level of existence above human" in both “both physical and spiritual” terms. All of the dead members of the cult were found to have a five-dollar bill and three quarters in their pockets—said to be needed in order to pay "the interplanetary toll that was going to be charged while on their journey."

Monkey see, monkey do. That is the abnormal norm among humanity now and it happens because of mind and personality.

The discussion will now continue with excerpts from “CHAPTER EIGHT”, entitled “MIND and PERSONALITY: What Cultures Consider ‘Assets’ Are Actually ‘Liabilities,’ Part One”

This is offered in that chapter:

“Mind” and “personality” cannot be separated since the former generates belief in the latter. The latter, in turn, generates all emotional intoxication. [While the Realized can witness feelings rise and fall, only ego-states—only assumed personas—emote. When personas believe that they are experiencing some slight, hurt, threat or interference, a series of actions and reactions are inspired that trigger emotional intoxication as well as destructive and / or self-destructive behavior.] When persons are trapped in the agendas of their false roles, then emotions will always overwhelm cognitive functioning, so now a new pointer is available:

It has been seen that the “mind” can override the constructive functioning of the brain; now it is seen that persona-generated emotionalism can also subdue the manner in which nature had originally intended that the brain should function. Now the degree of wisdom behind the Advaitin pointer that one must relinquish identification with the “mind” and the personality as well as with the body becomes clear. Review the evolution of the brain in regards to this latest understanding:

Humans functioned with a mind-less brain for hundreds of thousands of years. The brain evolved, developing an area for storing memories and an organ that could retrieve memories. Those two areas of the brain were intended to help humanity survive and to behave constructively. No personas were taken to be identities.

As language developed, information being stored in the brain was less and less of the character of things observed and became filled more and more with the remembering of things told. To observe a friend who touched a burning log, to see his pain, to file away that memory, and to recall that memory when next in the presence of a burning log produced behavior that would be considered “sane.” To the contrary, to observe crops dying as a result of the lack of rain, and then to be told that the rain is being withheld by an angry god who wants a priest to fornicate with a virgin and who wants the priest to cut out her beating heart with a sharp-edged rock and pass it through the crowd during a commune-with-god service produced behavior that would be considered “insane.”

The result of thousands of years of being conditioned to believe in whatever one is told rather than witnessing objectively and believing in that which is observable and provable has resulted in a planet that is populated with masses of sheep-like persons who unquestioning go along with almost anything that they are told by persons who are labeled as “their leaders” or as so-called “experts” in their cultures. After centuries and millennia of such conditioning, the ability among persons to distinguish true from false has been lost. The result is an appearance that the earth’s masses are all insane because they have abandoned natural living and are living unnaturally or supernaturally (that is, trapped in magical thinking that tries to explain naturally-occurring events with supernatural explanations that amount to nothing more than fantasies).

In modern cultures, however, such phrases as “Look at that idiot” or “That’s guy’s insane” are usually off the mark. A more accurate diagnosis would be, “Look at that space that has assumed a persona which is inspiring idiot-like behavior” or “Look at that space that has assumed a persona which is inspiring insane-like behavior.” The distinction must be made: the teachings of the Advaita philosophy cannot address the most serious mental illnesses. The teachings address the far more common condition in which persons appear to be suffering a mental illness when in fact they are merely trapped in identification with personas that were assigned by members of a culture or that have been adopted by persons living under the influence of a culture. Thus, an earlier quote can now be expanded:

“Consciousness is rooted in the Absolute. The brain is rooted in the elements. The ‘mind’ is rooted in wrong programming and faulty conditioning and lies and concepts and ideas and superstitions and falsehoods. Personas are rooted in programmed minds and are sustained by the ego-based lies and by the learned ignorance that are being taught in most modern cultures.”

Since the most serious mental illnesses cannot be addressed by philosophical teachings, the difference in being truly insane and in merely functioning under the auspices of a warped “mind” (and under the influence of believing that personas are real identities) must be made clear. The pointer is often offered that it certainly appears insane when one does not know Who / What He / She Truly Is. Now the clarification can be offered that, technically, that is not insanity. That is nothing more than evidence of the power of programming. For example, it certainly appeared insane when Pavlov’s dogs salivated at the sound of a bell rather than as a result of smelling the aroma of meat. But those dogs were not insane. They were programmed and conditioned.

Such is the case with almost all of humanity today, so while most who do not know Who / What They Truly Are would be considered insane, the "not-knowing" is understandable when it is clear that programming and conditioning and acculturation and domestication and brainwashing and indoctrination combine to set persons up  . . .

to (A) adopt or accept false identities as real;

to (B) have no clue about what they are not (which they nevertheless believe that they are);

and

to (C) believe whatever nonsense that they are told while having not even the slightest willingness to question anything.

To be continued.

Please enter the silence of contemplation.
