TODAY’S CONSIDERATIONS
Yesterday: As the case with Maharaj advising seekers to find what you are not instead of looking for “What You Are,” so he also said that – ultimately – one need not seek truth but instead should “concern yourself with untruth only.”
See?
1. Focusing concern not on finding “Who You Are” but instead finding all of the “who’s” which you have been told you are or which you have thought you are, realizing they do not really define you, and then discarding those.
2. And focusing concern not on finding “Truth” and instead concerning yourself with finding untruth only and ending once and for all your belief in all untruths.
3. And, moreover, it should be seen by now that one’s existence can be far freer and saner if concern is focused less on all of the spiritual going and doing and zooming and on all of the religious and / or spiritual workaholism involved with seeking so-called “enlightenment” and focusing instead on that which can bring a condition of “lightment” . . . of abiding in a light manner rather than in such a heavy fashion which is typical among the masses.
Now some say the way to a state of “lightment” is to be forever ignorant, repeating the old adage that “ignorance is bliss.” Nope. (a) Ignorance is ignorance and (b) bliss is bliss and (c) not knowing that is just more evidence of ignorance.
Each assumed persona / personality brings with it a primary fear and a primary desire, and fears and desires preempt any chance for enjoying a sense of lightness.
A political race is underway to select in November the next person who will hold the office of the President of the United States. The result? The desire of those who have assumed the identity of “A Republican” have their desire / hope with one candidate and fear some other candidate might win. The desire of those who have assumed the identity of “A Democrat” have their desire / hope with one candidate and fear another candidate might win.
Let’s see how it’s working out when their personas have hope and see if that is making them blissful or not.
Here’s a pic from a gathering of enraged Democrats:
Hopeful? You bet.
Blissful as a result of their hopes and desires? Hardly.
Here’s a pic of enraged supporters at a rally for the Republican candidate:
Hopeful? You bet.
Blissful as a result of their hopes and desires? Nope.
There has never in the history of the humanity / personality combo been any occasion when any “benefit” manifested as a result of a false identity being assigned to a human or assumed by a human.
Personas with desires either generate frustration when their desires are not met or instances where desires are met for a time but do not continue to be fulfilled, leading to even greater frustration. Maharaj made clear that whatever gives you pleasure will eventually give you pain and that whatever gives you the greatest pleasure will eventually give you the greatest pain.
The key non-dual pointer: there will be heaviness when personality identifications are at play; there can be a sense of lightness if no personal identifications are assumed; but there will be, guaranteed, untold heaviness marking and marring the existence of all persons who believe that false identities are real.
When was the last time persons enjoyed unconditional happiness? The last time that they were not burdened with any assigned or assumed personal identities and the last time that they had no ideas, concepts, notions (a.k.a., "beliefs") about anything. And when was that? During "The Child No-Knowing State."
Maharaj: "Go back."
To be continued.
Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
