THE THIRD DEGREE OF SEPARATION FROM REALITY:
False Identifications with the Last to Go Being
“The Super Religious One,” “The Spiritual Giant,”
and
“The Super Seeker”
[Excerpts are from the book FROM THE I TO THE ABSOLUTE which includes transcriptions of talks offered during one of the last series of satsang sessions that I led.]
[From the previous post, replying to one who believed – literally – in a creation myth in his Bible but who did not know that his Bible reports in its first few pages the two totally different creation myths which were circulating during the days when the text was written]
Q.: [Long pause, confused, thinking] “I’ve never heard that.”
F.: “You’ve never heard anything I will say, and you never will unless you investigate all your beliefs and see them for what they are: ancient myths and superstitions handed down for so long by so many that they are unquestioningly taken to be truth. I invite you to question it all.
“You speak highly of your sacred text and accept its content as fact without even having read thoroughly the first chapter of the first book. [Q. tightens lips] Not unusual. I’ve witnessed that to be the case with almost all who quote their holy texts. I invite you to forget what they told you that they thought they knew and find out what You know, within.
“You take offense when you are told that you must transition these three personas and all others, but identified with these three ego-states, you take my words PERSONAlly. [Smiles] All personalities are limiting. These three will limit your ability to see all else that must be seen for realization.”
To continue:
Q. : [Sarcastically] “So what do you know about creation?”
F.: “Ha. I know that what you call ‘this universe’ is a result of a single hydrogen atom manifesting in a vacuum, a process now being duplicated in the scientific laboratory. I know that hydrogen atom split and paired and eventually smashed into a subsequent helium atom.
“I know that all is a result of that original movement of energy and that's why this universe is composed of hydrogen more than any other element. I know that the process of photosynthesis allows plants to use the energy from the sun to produce sugar and then ATP via cellular respiration. I know that results in a form of energy that can be used by all living things, including the two plant eaters who would be called 'my parents.'
“I understand that the conversion of unusable sunlight energy into usable chemical energy allowed those two plant eaters to consume plants that would automatically form sperm cells in one and form eggs in another. I know that this space called ‘floyd’ is a result of an act of friction between those two plant eaters that set into motion a chain of happenings that would result in this manifestation of consciousness.
“That's what I know about creation, but none of that knowledge was required for realization! What was necessary for the full understanding was already within me. I needed to but clear away the debris field of lies and myths and superstitions that had been blocking awareness of the truth. Once the debris was fully removed from an incorrectly programmed and wrongly conditioned mind, the full understanding of the functioning of the Totality happened.
“That purging can happen for you, too. Krishna said they have fooled you, and that has happened so thoroughly that you don't even know Who You Are. What can you possibly claim to know as truth when you don't even know that?
“Either you question the myths and find the truth or you live forever in the darkness of their tales and superstitions and all of the resulting ego-states of being this or that which now trap you in the misery of your desires and fears. If you can release the attachment to these two roles, you’ll move to the Fourth Step on 'the path' and a significant shift occurs.
“The first three degrees of body and mind and personality identification have all separated you from reality. In the discussion of the third degree, you’ve been invited to transcend the three most entrenched personas. If you can release the hold of those three personalities, then you’ll have a chance to complete the purification process and enter into the fourth stage on the ‘path.’
“If that happens, an ability to become aware of what is authentic and what is not will occur. And the interesting shift is that, while the first three degrees of separation have blocked you from reality – form that which is authentic - transitioning those three levels of body and mind and personality identifications can all facilitate the coming of the full understanding.
“If you can successfully transition beyond these three false identities which are the last to go, the last to be abandoned by those on the ‘path,’ then you’ll enter ‘The Fourth Degree of Movement toward Reality’ . . . the 'Fourth Step.'
“What is called for now is for you to take into focused meditation all that we've discussed and allow all you've heard to be understood."
[To the reader]:
The book entitled The Relative Results of Returning to "The Child Ignorance Stage" or "The Child No-Knowing State"
offers the two names used to point to the fourth step on the “path.” Originally, though he did not number them, Maharaj offered a path with seven steps. The same happened here. Eventually, he would determine that truth and authenticity and clarity and freedom from "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity" must begin by taking the first three steps and being rid of body and mind and personality identifications as well as all personal identifications, period.
He eventually explained, "I got involved in spirituality, in the business of spirituality; finally, I lost that love of Self also. I have no more love for the Self."
Once he reached to that point, he changed his entire approach from a seven-step approach to a four-step approach and urged seekers to abandon their concern with finding “The Self” and focus more on “finding what they are not instead of ‘What They Are’.”
Steps Five through Seven were about the latter, about finding “What You Are,” but he made clear that persons can enjoy the remainder of the relative existence if they are free of all beliefs and abide as they did during the early days of their manifestation when, as a child, they had no beliefs and no personal identifications at all.
Thus, the deal is actually about returning to that Fourth Step state, which is comparable in many ways to the Original Nature which existence prior to being manifested.
In CHAPTER ONE of the book mentioned above, a chapter entitled “The Rationale for Completing Even 60% of ‘The Journey’," this is offered:
The sages have discussed the negative impact of personality on the relative existence for ages. Is it any wonder why, after having seen the results of ego-defense mechanisms and personality defects that always accompany the assignment or assumption of personality?
Thus, sages for ages have recommended to seekers that they take the steps to be free of personality. The "goal" of non-duality pointers is always to move persons to a state of independence and stability, freed of all identification, including identification with the body and the mind and the personalities that generate chaos and fears and desire, often including the desire to control others. That freedom can never manifest as long as personality remains and is subconsciously driving all thoughts and words and actions.
How to go about that task of being free of personality? Maharaj said “ . . . You should go back, reverse, to the source.” He advised: “Follow the same path by which you came.” Yet he also said at one point that only 1 in 100,000 would ever realize fully, later amended to one in 1,000,000 and eventually changed to the estimate that only one in 10,000,000 will ever realize fully. That was not a scientific, research-based estimate but an estimate based in observing the results after having dealt with thousands upon thousands of seekers.
If those odds are even partially accurate, then most seekers might ask, "Then why even try?" This book offers the answer. The author offers a seven-step "path" to follow in the process of "going back" and "reversing to the source" and "following the same 'path' by which you came," and what has been witnessed over the last 22 years is this: among the 9000-10,000 or more with whom he has shared the non-duality message, those who only "traveled" as far as the fourth step (thus completing only about 60% of the seven step "path" to full realization) nevertheless experienced significant shifts in perspective.
If seekers only reach the fourth step on the seven-step "path" that is laid out by this author, they will have reached the point where they might not know completely That Which They Are, but they will have reached the point where they do know what they are not. Of that, Maharaj said: "You need not know 'What You Are'. Enough to know what you are not."
After having seen the results of the personality disorders that follow the development of personality, and after having seen the relative effects of the assignment or assumption of personalities / personas as identities, is it not clear why the invitation has long been to at least "go back" as far as the fourth step on the “path” and return to "The Child Ignorance Stage" / "The Child No-Knowing State"?
If a seeker were to complete only that much of "the seven-step journey" and then abide in the resulting manner that is free of concepts and beliefs, free of a fiction-filled "mind," and free of the personalities that are at the root of all of the ignorance and chaos and mental disorders and insanity that plague the relative existence on this planet, then would it not make sense to "go back" at least that far?
So many say, "I just want to be happy." If they are honest, they will admit that the last time they were UNCONDITIONALLY happy was during that state (if they were dry and fed and in a place with comfortable temperatures).
For those willing to return to that earlier condition that allowed for the enjoyment of unconditional happiness as long as the most basic needs of food and clothing and shelter were met, then the happiness which they seek can be found.

THE EXPLANATION
If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."
The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.
"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."
Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:
"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

and
"Heaven and hell are not geographic places
but are states of mind, nothing more than
concepts dreamed up by men."

"There is no hell."
--Pope Francis, the current pope
in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,
a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record
teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.
[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.
And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?
Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?
The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)
With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.
The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
