FREEDOM FROM BELIEFS (Believers, Non-Believers, and “No-Belief-ers”)
Beliefs Rooted in Personality and “-ISM’S,”
Part “B”
Know your primary and secondary personality types.
While the science-based personality inventory test has 144 items, it was noted that you might at least find some insight regaridng your type / types by honestly admitting your habits, passions, drives, etc.
Which of these can you relate to in one degree or another:
Personality Type Ones are especially driven to try to appear to be perfect, to judge others, and to have rigid beliefs about what is right and what is wrong.
Personality Type Twos are especially driven to do for others and to be “helpers”
in order to be loved by others.
Personality Type Threes are especially driven by the desire for affirmations,
applause, praise, approval; and other self-based desires.
Personality Type Fours are especially driven by their feelings (or emotions), to search
for meaning, to avoid appearing to be ordinary, and to deal with the fact that they “don’t
seem to fit” or to even belong on this planet.
Personality Type Fives are especially driven the need to know, to collect
information and knowledge, to avoid looking foolish, and to isolate while reading
or seeking knowledge so they can later appear to be intelligent.
Personality Type Sixes are especially driven by a need for security to address
their pervasive sense of fear and insecurity, by a desire to be taken care of
(by persons or institutions), to form dependent and codependent relations and to
get all that they think they deserve because of their sense of entitlement.
Personality Type Sevens are especially driven by addiction, their desire to
avoid work and fill their time with adventures, by a desire to be happy and
have fun, and to avoid suffering and pain at all cost.
Personality Type Eights seek power and control and strength and followers and independence and revenge.
Personality Type Nines are especially driven by a desire to avoid conflict in order to maintain their own peace, a desire to be taken care of, and to be passive-aggressive to manipulate and get their basic needs met by another.
Find
each of those you can relate to and you’ll have some understanding of what is
driving you subconsciously and unconsciously.
So
here is some of what is revealed when the Enneagram and the non-dual
enlightenments regarding personality come together and uncover which passions
or traits align with which types:
Personality Type Ones are especially driven by wrath and resentment and anger;
Personality Type Twos are especially driven by pride;
Personality Type Threes are especially driven by deceit;
Personality Type Fours are especially driven by melancholia and jealousy and
envy;
Personality Type Fives are especially driven by greed and avarice;
Personality Type Sixes are especially driven by fear or panic or cowardice (and
occasionally reckless courage when they shift to a counter-phobic phase);
Personality Type Sevens are especially driven by conceit and gluttony;
Personality Type Eights are especially driven by lust (their primary lust being
for power and control and their secondary lust being sexual . . . but even
their sexual drive is about power and control and dominance); and
Personality Type Nines who are especially driven by indifference and inertia
and avoidance or laziness.
Most persons that have lost contact with the essence and the authenticity will
be driven by a combination of at least four of those types.
Some
are driven by even more than four; furthermore, without their concrete
personality test results before them in black-and-white, most will move through
the entire manifestation without a clue about the personality-based motivators
that subconsciously drive them to think what they think, to think how they think,
to feel or emote the way that they feel or emote, to talk how they talk, and to
behave the way they behave.
Which of those types have been driving you? To what degree? In what order
should they be focused on to remove the most “detrimental obstacles to seeing
Truth” first? Which specific desire and fear of each type is most adversely
impacting your relative existence and contributing to your misery and
suffering?
Most
will never know. You can. There is the opportunity for that to happen either
here or via one of the many other venues that offer an insight which will
finally - for the first time ever - allow persons to understand:
1. why they have done what they have done throughout the relative existence,
even when much of it made no sense and proved to be most harmful relatively
speaking;
2. why they continue to make the same mistakes over and over;
3. why they repeat the same unhealthy patterns in one relationship after
another;
4. why they have felt totally powerless and helpless and have been unsuccessful
when they try to change; and
5. why they are driven by fears and desires which also make no sense at all.
To continue with
Beliefs Rooted in Personality and “-ISM’S,” Part “C”
In describing the way that humans have fallen into a supposedly-awake-but-actually-asleep-state (resulting in their moving through the relative existence while under the spell of their personality trance) a glimpse was provided earlier of what the pre-personality existence was like for humanity. Challenges happened.
Sometimes humans overcame the challenges, and sometimes the challenges overcame them. Problems arose. Sometimes solutions were found, and sometimes they were not.
Therefore, the existence had always been complicated enough as it was, challenging enough as it was, problematic enough as it was, without the additional hardship of trying to negotiate the relative existence while . . .
being
sightless . . . while being blindly driven by personality-based agendas and
personality-based motivators that are even hidden from self . . . while being
torn between a personality-driven desire to be kind at times but a
personality-driven desire to control-by-brutality at other times.
Yet that is exactly the case after personalities developed and, in the case
just mentioned, when the kind Helper Personality Type disintegrates to the
vicious Controller Personality Type. Note the way that personalities always
manifest at first in tandem, generating diametrically-opposite, dualistic
behavioral patterns that now ensure for the non-realized masses an existence
that is marked and marred by instability.
Consider
another possible scenario, for example:
Troublesome enough it is that the Personality Type Four can waver between a
desire for authenticity and a tendency to perceive things in the most unrealistic
manner imaginable; add stress and then the Personality Type Four will
disintegrate into the state of histrionics and emotional intoxication that is
typical of the Personality Type Two.
Then watch the Type Four shift to the Type One when influenced by the egotism
that accompanies the assumption of an ego-state as an identity; at that point,
everyone will be judged, expected to be perfect, and found to be lacking.
Being inflexible and dogmatic and critical will characterize the Four that shifts to the One. If the Four was raised by a Type Eight parent, then the worst traits of the Type Eight can be internalized alongside the Four and the result is a Four that, at times, feels the pain of others and of self to such an extreme degree that guilt, shame, melancholia, self-absorption, depression and withdrawing manifest;
at
other times though, if the internalized Eight is triggered, then no empathy for
anyone will manifest; instead, there will be an inability to care at all; there
will only be coldness and insensitivity and meanness and heartlessness that can
reach sociopathic / pathological levels of cruelty.
And all of those possibilities will be guaranteed to manifest with a Four who
has internalized an Eight, who will exhibit Eight traits when in arrogance, and
who will disintegrate to the worst of a Type One or Type Two when stressed. And
those are just a few examples of the chaos and disharmony that manifest when
personality manifests.
Tragic enough (relatively speaking) that persons living under the influence of a personality trance can be so predictable (without understanding at all why) when driven by even one personality type.
However,
to appreciate the full impact of the way that the nine personality types
generate fluctuation and unsteadiness and instability and unpredictability and
volatility and emotional and / or feeling intoxication, consider the
mathematical possibilities:
a. with every person showing at least some evidence of all nine types, and
b. with persons being driven most by their primary type, but
c. with all persons also being influenced by what is called their “wings” (the
types on either side of their primary type, such as a 4 being influenced also
by the 3 and the 5) and
d. with persons disintegrating to another type when stressed, and
e. with persons exhibiting the traits of various types that they internalized
as children or have since adopted along the way,
then the mathematics involved show that
1. with 1 of 9 types able to appear in combination with each other in 2’s or 3’s
or 4’s, etc. and
2. with the variety of other combinations that are possible, then
you will find, if you do the math, that with 9 types potentially at play in a
variety of combinations, the possible permutations come to . . . 387,420,489.
Driven by personality, it is possible that 387,420,489 factors - personalities
and combinations of personalities - will control a person’s thoughts and words
and deeds at any given time during the relative existence.
Moreover, adoption of the persona of “The Believer” can only happen after exposure to the repository of beliefs in any given culture, namely, the culture’s “-ism’s.” Then, any culture’s “-ism’s” will give support to an assigned or adopted persona and will give rise to more and more personas and will support the upgrading of the assigned or adopted persona as well.
