TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

[See the offer following this post for details on how you can watch a video which includes a discussion of all seven of the steps on the path used by Maharaj]

This was offered yesterday:

What else is used to begin un-doing the confusion, the learned ignorance, the personality disorders and the various degrees of insanity that are so common among the masses and that trap then in their belief in - and their dissemination of - falsehoods? Two additional " tools":

1. One is called "The 180-Degree Method."

2. The other is called "Obliterating the Present Thought-Based Mode of Talking and Becoming Skilled at Using Only The Vocabulary of Restored Sanity / Full Realization."

Two Tools Which Can Be Used To End Attachment To False Beliefs, Part "B"

(Because both methods are relevant here, a brief explanation will be offered, but the full and detailed discussion of both methods is available in the book GOING CRAZY, GOING SANE.)

THE 180-DEGREE METHOD

Seekers who are beginning the process of questioning beliefs are invited to use "The 180-Degree Method." The invitation is to take any belief and then find a 180-degree opposite perspective and see if that opposite view might be the logical or reasonable or rationale or factual or sane perspective.

Actual examples where the method has been used with seekers include the following:

1. Belief: "I'm going into work this morning, gather up my belongings, and then before walking out, I'm going to tell the boss he can take this job and shove it."

An Opposite Perspective That Was Found: "Maybe it is wiser to find another job before quitting the one that is presently paying my bills."

Another belief revealed in a statement made to me:

2. Belief: "This morning God saved my life. Traffic was moving a little slower than usual so when I reached the intersection that I pass through every morning on the way to work, a man ran a red light but hit me in the front side of the car. If I'd been two seconds sooner, his car would have hit me broadside and killed me. It's a miracle."

An Opposite Perspective That Was Offered: "If there had really been a God watching over you, he could have moved you through the intersection five seconds sooner or five seconds later and then you would not have been hit at all."

OTHER POSSIBLE, 180-DEGREE OPPOSITE PERSPECTIVES:

"My assumption of the role of 'The Super Spiritual Woman' is motivating magical thinking and arrogance. Maybe there is no god that was causing others drivers to be caught up in slow traffic in order to help me in a wreck that he knew was coming."

"Maybe the speed of the driver who hit me was not increased by a god so that the driver's car would strike me on the front of my car rather than on the driver's door and maybe my car was not slowed down by god in order to contribute to being hit in a 'good' way rather than in a 'bad' way."

"Maybe if there really was an all-knowing, all-powerful god who was watching over me, he would have prevented the wreck entirely."

"And if my god did orchestrate the events which led to my car being damaged and my having to pay an expensive deductible and my having no way now to get to work, then maybe his actions weren't quite as impressive as I thought at first glance."

"Maybe god is not inconveniencing people all around me to make my life better, and maybe there is no god that is so focused on me that he is controlling all others around me for my benefit or controlling them to give me what I want."

"Maybe what happened was not a miracle at all. Maybe it was just an accident that happened as all accidents happen (i.e., with a variety of contributing factors and for a number of reasons, including the fact that many people on the roads are 'driving in their sleep' - a very common event among the non-Realized)."

and

"Maybe, in fact, I am not constantly 'being blessed' as I believe, and maybe that is an arrogant claim which shows that I believe I am blessed because I am better than other people; that I believe I am blessed because I am pleasing god more, which shows that my belief is that I am being blessed constantly because I am so 'good'; and which shows that if other people were more like me, they could also receive god's blessings as regularly as I do."

Consider more examples to see the way that the rule can work to eliminate the belief in lies:

3A. Belief at 8 A.M.: "I'll never do that again!" (which is a brain-inspired warning being made from the stupor of a morning hangover from drinking alcohol excessively. Wise counsel from the brain indeed).

3B. Belief at 5 P.M.: "Well, I could accept the invitation of my co-workers to accompany them to the bar and just have one drink this time. I know I need it before I go home and face what's waiting there" (which is a "mind"-inspired belief that overrides the earlier constructive message from the brain and which is a most typical "mind"-message because the blocked consciousness is hell-bent on destroying the self - the false self).

A 180-Degree Opposite Perspective: "For me to say time and again that I will never do a certain thing again, only to do it again and again and again, is insane. Obviously, some other action is going to be required if I am to address this relative existence problem."

4. Belief: This statement of her distorted views came from a woman who is tolerating physical abuse from a husband who characterizes his blows against her body as "mere love taps," from a woman who believes that she is the one who is causing him to lash out at her time and time again: "If he didn't truly care, he couldn't get so emotional, so that shows that he really does love me."

OTHER POSSIBLE, 180-DEGREE OPPOSITE PERSPECTIVES:

"Anyone striking anyone else is never evidence that an abuser 'really does love' the one being abused. Quite to the contrary, it shows that the abuser does not care."

"The fact that he becomes so emotional does not show that he really love me. It shows that he is a really sick, abusive, controlling, person who thinks he owns me because he pays my bills."

"His raging and hitting both show that he is suffering not only from ignorance and insanity and emotional intoxication but also from a huge case of assholism; furthermore, if I stay and tolerate physical, mental, emotional and verbal abuse, my own ignorance and insanity are revealed."

Finally, if one begins to question the beliefs that are commonly-held by large numbers of non-Realized personas among the masses, it can be seen how often their beliefs are 180-opposite of what would be sane or logical or reasonable or factual.

In fact, such observing and questioning and judging the irrational and ignorant or insane thoughts and words and actions of other persons happens frequently. Yet seeing the irrational and ignorant or insane thoughts and words and actions of others will avail a seeker nothing unless it triggers an objective ability within the observer to relate to the examples being observed and critiqued and to find his or her own false ideas and concepts and beliefs that are unconsciously driving the seeker's thoughts and words and actions.

Only if one witnesses the irrational and ignorant or insane thoughts and words and actions of others - and only if such witnessing then turns the focus from "them" to one's own "self" (or one's many false "selves") - can one ever be free of accepting as truth what is actually nothing more than a culture's widely-accepted lies and nonsensical ideas and distorted concepts and bogus-but-valued beliefs.

To be continued.

Five Free eBooks

Compliments of Andy Gugar, Jr.,
the following eBooks are available without charge for you or for friends:

I.
"GOOD vs. EVIL?" or "IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY, and INSANITY?"

The content of this eBook deals with one of the most common but erroneous beliefs that the non-Realized masses cling to and which they will fight about (and even kill over), namely, that there is a planet-wide duel going on between “the forces of good and evil” in the universe.

Either (1) the ancient view is spot on: that the "ills of the planet" are rooted in evil people, in people not being religious enough or spiritual enough, and are caused solely by bad morality; or, (2) the "ills of the planet" are rooted in ignorance, stupidity and insanity and "being good" or "being moral" does not put an end to ignorance, does not eliminate stupidity, and does not treat insanity in any way.

II.
"THE VISION"

Comments regarding the free eBook entitled “THE VISION”:

“My thanks to you and Andy.” – Andrew “Mac” McMaster

“Thanks so much for the book! And, by the way, it is brilliant and the most effective pointing that you have done. It has served to help clear the remaining blockages.” – Stan Cross

“Greatly appreciate having “THE VISION” added to my Henderson resource library that is situated on the right side of my bed for easy access! Eternally grateful for what was received and what was given.” – Robert Rigby

“‘THE VISION’ is such a well-written, condensed version of the Nisarga Yoga approach to understanding and enjoying Reality that I feel it can serve as a must-read ‘meditation guide’ for all earnest seekers.” – Andy Gugar, Jr.

III.
"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

There is much that a non-dualist or Advaitin or Nisargan can relate to by comparing and contrasting what Sapolsky reveals about the way certain troops of baboons live in Africa with the way that humans abide all around the globe.

This 152-page eBook catalogues the common, non-dual message shared by Sapolsky and Maharaj and reveals the ways that Sapolsky’s scientific research supports the non-dual pointers offered by Maharaj.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.

This 337-page eBook discusses those issues in detail.
