Thank you once more to co-host Louise Sterling, this time for a remarkably cogent series on the prerequisite for being free and at peace, namely, being free of the effects of the abusive mind first.

F.: In that regard (and relevant to the series being concluded today), the Advaitin formulas for total peace and full awareness are as follows:

1 mind = 0 peace

100% peace = 0 mind

1 personality = 100% blindly driven

0 personality = 100% awareness

To try to reconfigure (A) an ever-in-motion mind that is preoccupied with the duality of "positive vs. negative" into a (B) "no-longer-in-motion-but-fixated-at-the-positive-extreme" kind of mind is (C) an exercise in madness that will generate even more madness. The pre-occupation itself preempts any chance for fixation.

"Try not to think negative thoughts" is tantamount to "Right now, at this very instant, try not to think of an elephant."

Only if a mind is present can assumed personas be present. The Pure Witness witnesses feelings as they rise and fall, but personas emote, so they generate motion when believed to be present. The consciousness—which I Am not—is ever in motion (and will forever generate emotional reactions and emotional intoxication) if mind-personality beliefs are accepted as real.

Every persona generates a basic desire and a basic fear. That which persons call “a positive thought” is a belief by a person that it avoided something feared or found something desired. Since neither will remain fixed, then neither will any thought labeled “positive.”

During one twenty-four period last week, there was a temperature swing that ranged from 80°F to 38°F. Some persons liked it hot while some persons liked it cold, but none of those enjoyed anything other than a brief period of whatever temperature it was that they liked.

Now, suppose a person believed that 70°F would be a truly positive temperature. Also suppose that the one seeking the positive temperature of 70°F had watched a temperature gauge as it climbed that day from 38°F to 40°F to 50°F to 60°F to 70°F and then at that point screamed, “Stop!”

That person would have had as much success trying to make the temperature of a region remain constant as any person will ever have trying to make the mind (moving from neutral to negative to positive) to remain constant...to remain constantly in the “positive” mode by yelling, “Stop!”

The relative is forever in a state of flux and motion and movement. How to move beyond such flux? Understand. Maharaj said:

The three states rotate as usual - there is waking and sleeping and waking again, but they do not happen to Me. They just happen. To Me, nothing ever happens. There is something changeless, motionless, immovable, rock-like, unassailable; a solid mass of pure being-consciousness-bliss. I am never out of it. Nothing can take Me out of it…no torture…no calamity.

Identified with the body? Then biorhythmic swings and / or physiological swings will guarantee instability. Identified with the mind? Then biorhythmic swings and / or attachment to dualities (including the duality of “positive vs. negative”) will guarantee instability. Identified with the personality? Then biorhythmic swings and / or (false) self-centered notions about desires met or desires not met will guarantee instability.

To end the "swings," Maharaj said to understand this: "Awareness becomes consciousness when it has an object. The object changes all the time. In consciousness there is movement; awareness by itself is motionless and timeless, here and now."

and

"When you stand motionless, only watching, You discover Your Self as the light behind the watcher."

and

"The body appears in your mind; your mind is the content of your consciousness; You Are the motionless witness of the river of consciousness which changes eternally without changing You in any way. [Yet] Your own changelessness is so obvious that you do not notice it."

To seek "the positive thought" is an exercise in futility; however, freedom from the fictional mind is possible, and all that is required to initiate the shift to freedom is seeing that fiction is fiction.

If it is known that what most take to be “floyd” is nothing more than a temporarily-functioning triad of earth elements, air, and conscious-energy, and if it is known that (at some point) the elements shall return to the universal pool of elements, that the air shall return to the universal pool of air, and that the energy shall return to the universal pool of energy,

then it can also be understood not only that (1) the triad combination, for a spell, can allow witnessing only to happen but it can also be understood that (2) none of the “parts” forming the triad can “have” anything, including “having only positive thoughts.” Earth elements cannot have positive thoughts. Air cannot have positive thoughts. And energy cannot have positive thoughts.

Know that. Know freedom.

Know “thoughts.” No freedom.

No “mind.” Know freedom.

Know Wisdom. Know that You Are nothing.

Know that You Are All. Know Love...be Love.
