An Advaita forum focusing on Realisation, enlightenment, non-duality, Real Love, peace, freedom, Your original nature, abiding naturally, the Oneness, the Noneness, and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

Now you can receive for $40 a downloadable computer file version of the same 7-hour satsang that seekers receive when they visit for the Advaita Retreat with Floyd. You will be guided through the seven steps from identification with the false "I" to the Absolute (and beyond).

THE ARROGANCE OF BELIEVING IN APOTHEOSIS AND DEIFICATION (con't.)

F.: A fluctuation-free, chaos-free, and desireless-and-therefore-free existence happens in the absence of identity, not in the presence of "bad identities" or "good identities" or "supreme and divine identities."

How could being god-like or godly or a god-person possibly result in happiness when gods themselves are usually depicted as co-dependent and inconsistently happy? Believers believe that they can please their god and make their god happy and that they can also displease their god and make their god sad.

Godliness or godness, therefore, cannot possibly produce a stability of moods, at least according to most "holy texts" which depict god or gods as often being very angry, disappointed, warlike, destructive, murderous and sometimes capable of acts of genocide. Being a god will not provide an escape from fluctuation, at least according to the literature of most religions which teach that there are creator gods, sustainer gods, and destroyer gods.

[The "one god" of Abraham is actually all of those three original types, just rolled into one. The result is a schizophrenic god that supposedly created you and will sustain you if you have faith but who is, simultaneously, quite ready to destroy you if that course of action is indicated via a violation of divine rules or laws without an "I'm sorry" offered up after each repeated infraction.]

Next, recall that the master addiction among humans is an addiction to the desire to control. The secondary addiction is an addiction to have power in order to control. Historically, those desiring power (a) listen to those who claim that they are representing a power and can show them how to tap into that power; and

(b) admire and idolize those who have power; and (c) want to be like those who have power; and (d) worship those who have power or claim to be “the power”; and (e) eventually desire to be the power themselves.

• History tells us that Egyptian pharaohs were believed to be gods. Philip II of Macedonia and Alexander the Great were thought to be gods. Roman emperors were also believed to be gods.

• A dark-skinned man born in Beyt le’chem (Bethelem) who was named Yeshu’a (a very common name in the Middle East around 3 A.D.) would later be known as “Jesus” and would be deified as “Jesus the Christos” (Gk., “The Anointed One”) or also “Kristos” or “Krista” (see the Sanskrit “Krista” or the variation “Krishna,” meaning “the all-attractive one,” and used interchangeably with “God” by some).

• His mother avoided stoning by claiming that she was impregnated by God, setting the stage less for the deification of her son Yeshu'a and more for some persons to merely accept that he was the son of god or god manifest or god incarnate...one with the godhead as well as a spirit deemed “holy.”

• Jewish writings told the Jewish masses: “Ye are gods.”

• Jesus supposedly referred to that passage when he purportedly said, “Is it not written in your law, 'I said, Ye are gods'?”

• Teotihuacán was at one time the center of a civilization that flourished over most of Mesoamerica, (from 150-450 AD). The name means, “The place where men become Gods.”

• The Chinese have deified persons ranging from able generals to Chairman Mao.

• In Europe, kings for hundreds of years were believed to be divine.

• Light-skinned invaders have historically been thought to be gods when they occupied lands inhabited by darker-skinned persons.

• George Washington was deified. Visitors to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. can view from the Rotunda an overhead mural painted on the dome (entitled, “The Apotheosis of Washington”) depicting him ascending into heaven and revealing that he had been deified in the minds of many.

• The Japanese emperor during World War II was believed to be a direct descendant of the “Sun God,” inspiring a willingness among some Japanese kamikaze pilots to “die for their God.” (The modern day Islamists who strap on bomb vests and blow up themselves and others are similarly committing suicide in the name of their God.)

• Adolf Hitler was deified and the babies born at the breeding farms he set up in the 1930’s to breed a "Super Race of Aryans" were baptized at an altar with his picture upon it. At the state-run worship services for the older children, Sunday services were also conducted before an altar with Hitler’s picture at its center.

• Mormons, mentioned yesterday, still teach that their faithful men literally become gods.

• Even among Advaita Vedantans, Advaitins, Vedantans, neo-Advaitins, neo-Vedantans and Pseudo-Advaitins, most who claim god-beingness as an identity ignore Krishna’s pointers regarding “beyond beingness and non-beingness.”

Most persons who believe they can ascend to divinity might claim that their god-relationship or god-oneness or god-beingness gives them peace and humility and power. As for those claiming that they are reaping those “benefits” of god-beingness, they ignore the relative facts surrounding the manifestation of the God Complex personality.

Theory and philosophy and ideology aside, persons trapped in the God Complex or Narcissistic Personality Disorder show far less humility and peace and far more of the following throughout their relative existence:

grandiosity; severely disturbed interpersonal relations; the inaccurate belief that they are liked and respected in spite of their history of callousness and exploitative personal interactions; a huge need for admiration; an aggravated sense of self-importance;

a preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, and brilliance; a belief that they are “special”; an excessive desire for praise, compliments, deference, and expressions of envy; a desire to be told that everything they do is better than what others can do; insincerity;

a sense of entitlement; an expectation of automatic compliance with their wishes; an expectation of especially favorable treatment; reactions of hurt or rage when their expectations are frustrated;

a tendency to use other people to get what they want without caring about the cost to the other people; a tendency to be envious of others; arrogance; haughtiness; and contemptuous behaviors or attitudes.

Now some might say that is all “most un-god-like,” proving they have never read the Old Testament and similar works that offer depictions of a god or gods that display those traits exactly.

In contrast, the nisarga way of moving through the remainder of the relative existence is a natural way. It happens after all seven steps on the “path” to Realization take place. To try to live in a supernatural / religious / spiritual way fixates seekers at the third step of a seven-step "journey."

There, seekers are convinced that they have “arrived” when they have not moved along even half of the total “path.” Stability happens only after the seventh step and never happens at the third of seven steps.

Therefore, fixated in the belief that one is godly, god-like, a god-person or a god, there can be no freedom from fluctuation and chaos for such persons: there will be instead periods of happiness (when those persons are treated as gods) and often-longer periods of unhappiness or discontentment (when they are not treated in the god-like fashion that they desire and expect). Please enter the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)

SIX WAYS THAT SEEKERS HAVE REALIZED:

1. BY WATCHING the 4-Disk Video (DVD) Set, or the same retreat available as a downloadable file. Either will provide an entire seven-hour retreat / series of satsang sessions showing three seekers being guided through all seven steps by Floyd and can provide viewers with an “experiential,” step-by-step series of satsang meetings that will move the viewers from identification with the I to abidance as the Absolute and then to abidance as That Which Is beyond

Some seekers are already using the computer file version and the DVD sets for meetings in groups in homes, playing the retreat, pausing for discussion, etc.

To find out more or to purchase the DVD set or the downloadable computer file version of the retreat, click:
