TODAY’S CONSIDERATIONS

[Continued from yesterday

A true sense of lightness cannot come when attached to the past or when preoccupied with concerns about the future. Such comments as “I love the good ole days” or “America has been ruined by ‘them.’ We’re going to take America back, by damn!” or “I was done wrong in the past and I just can’t get past my resentment” are all based in delusions, are all comments generated by the beliefs which had been taught and stored in the mind early on or in newer delusions which are presently being generated by the hidden agendas of one or more assumed personas / ego-states / roles / personalities.

Frequent visitors to this site know that the mind was once an asset, used by humans to assist in survival and in the perpetuation of the species (as in, “Rickback and Torus both came to an end and rotted away after falling over the edges of cliffs. I will be careful when around cliffs and stay away from the edge.”) Later, the mind would become a liability when filled with nonsense which is passed on via ignorant and insane programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, indoctrination and brainwashing.

[So comments such as those referenced above are based in the samskaras (impressions) stored in a mind which contains nonsense and warped perspectives. Some believe that they have impressions which were left over from "previous lives." Others value memories which have been embedded in the subconscious mind during this manifestation. Consider:

Maharaj said, You were not born even once, so how can you be born again, much less again and again? If one understands what can and what does cycle - and what cannot and what does not cycle, much less be recycled – then his pointer will be understood.

Next, memories from decades earlier which were stored in the mind at the time were memories rooted in the way things were being perceived at the time. Because misperceptions reign among the masses, then misperceived events are being stored as misperceptions and are nothing more than misperceived impressions and memories and imprints which were left on the mind by misperceived experiences involving previous actions and thoughts. Thus, when past memories and impressions are recalled, one is actually recalling warped, distorted impressions. Imagine how insane it is to allow present thoughts and words and actions - and feelings or emotions - to be based in old warped misperceptions and distortions.

Even to believe that the body now is the same body which existed years ago in a misperception and illusion. In fact, the conscious-energy and the earth elements which form a plant food body are forever cycling. For example, skin is being replaced every twenty-eight days and the stomach lining is being replaced every few days. The quantity of conscious-energy in a body-cum-consciousness is being restored on a daily basis by the consumption of either plants or things which ate plants. Maharaj: “Memory creates the illusion of continuity.” The concept of continuity is just another illusion.]

Maharaj: “I am real for I am always now, in the present, and what is with me now shares in my reality. The past is in memory, the future - in imagination.” The “past” and the “future” are both figments of the imagination, so to be trapped in either “the past” or “the future” is to be trapped in distortion and delusion and illusion.

And to be trapped in imaginings and distortions and delusions and illusions is to be trapped in the Ultimate Sickness with its three traits identified by Maharaj as “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity.”

Maharaj said: “Perception, imagination, expectation, anticipation, illusion - all are based on memory”

and

“Imagination based on memories is unreal.”

Thus the first key question becomes, “How could any sense of lightness possibly manifest under such conditions?” The answer: "It cannot."

Those who understand the way that personality functions understand that all desire and fears are rooted in the hidden, subconscious agendas of personality and that all desires and fears involve “memories.” Of that, Maharaj said, “Desire is the memory of pleasure and fear is the memory of pain. Both make the mind restless.” The next key question, then, is this: “How could any sense of lightness possibly manifest when one's relative existence is cursed with a restless mind?” The answer: "It cannot."

Maharaj said: “I don't live by memory. I see the world as it is, a momentary appearance in consciousness.” He said, “Consciousness, when tainted with memory and expectation, becomes bondage.” So the third key question then becomes, “How could any sense of lightness possibly manifest when in bondage?” The answer: "It cannot."
