TODAY’S CONSIDERATIONS

In the book QUOTATIONS AND POINTERS (and more)

there is a list of over thirty movies which are based in the non-dual message, including The Matrix (Part One), The 13th Floor, Inception, The Truman Show, Dark City, Existenz, and Avatar. Recently, I watching a film entitled LUCY which can be added to the list. [This is not intended to be an endorsement or advert.]

While the screenplay provides some nisarga yoga pointers of the type offered on this site, there are more pointers rooted in jnana yoga. Consider:

Annually, billions and maybe trillions of words are tossed about by those involved with a variety of philosophies or ideologies or religions or spiritual programs or movements who are not speaking from the standpoint of the pure, universal consciousness but are passing along nonsense rooted in programming, domestication, acculturation, conditioning, brainwashing, and indoctrination. What they frequently have in common is their intention, especially the intention to try to identify “the meaning of life” or to try to explain to followers or adherents “what each individual’s purpose in life is supposed to be.”

The key point here is the same as that shared by Maharaj when he said: “Living is life's only purpose.”

Of course, a statement so devoid of pride and arrogance will be rejected by the prideful and arrogant persons who make up the masses. That pride and arrogance has driven many over the decades to sardonically inquire here, “So what is it all, at least according to Floyd?”

Luc Besson, who wrote the screenplay for LUCY, might explain – as Maharaj said and as is said here – that this is all about a play, being acted out on the stage of “The Theater of the Lie,” where humans are mainly engaged (usually unconsciously) in a game called, “Pass It On.” But what is being passed on? Usually, ignorance and nonsense and insanity. In only a few rare cases, wisdom.

More than eleven years ago, when the postings on this blog site first began, it was explained that the ultimate focus was going to be on “Applied Advaita,” that is, focusing on (a) passing down a version of the non-dual understandings which can be used (even in the absence of “a user”) in order to (b) interrupt the current pattern of humans passing down, from one generation to another, humanity’s accumulation of hearsay and nonsense and falsehoods and distortions and (c) thereafter allow the relative existence of those with the understanding to happen in an ignorance-free and insanity-free manner.

The connection between that and the message in LUCY? Luc Besson said, “If you find yourself asking what's real and what isn't, I've won.” He said that his film is an invitation to ask, “What’s true, what’s fake?” and that involves the essence of the non-dual understanding.

In this series, certain pointers are being offered which can effect change in the way that the relative existence of most persons is presently happening. Maharaj’s actual message about life was expanded at times – especially after he came to understand that the Ultimate Sickness is a mind sickness, a mental illness. At those times, he clarified in many ways that the main point, as far as humans are concerned, could be paraphrased as, “Living sanely and wisely is life's only purpose.”

He said that "realization is really only about being freed of ignorance." Hence, the pointers offered yesterday (explaining how the wisdom of understanding the body / mind linkage and how many illnesses or behaviors which are believed to be mental actually have a physical component as well) which are meant to be applicable to the relative existence, NOW, and which involve passing on the understanding which can effect changes in the relative existence, NOW.

So this whole deal is about what is being passed down which can change the phenomenal existence, not some imagined Noumenal existence. There will be no “who” or “one” post-manifestation. Anything that "matters" can only matter NOW. The fate of each composite unity as the manifestation ends will be this:

the elements forming an elemental plant food body will return to the universal pool of elements; the air being circulated through an elemental plant food body will return to the universal pool of air; and the conscious-energy circulating through an elemental plant food body will return to the universal pool of conscious-energy and will function once more as its original nature, namely as awareness-energy-with-no-aware-of-ness at all.

Whatever is to be understood is only for the sake of allowing the relative existence, NOW, to unfold in a sane and wise manner rather than in the typical insane and ignorant and self-destructive manner. Any "applying" of the parts of the understanding is for NOW, not “later.” There will be no “one” to benefit later from anything; there will be no “one”to be reborn; there will be no “one” to be punished; and there will be no “one” to be rewarded. Want bliss? Then take the necessary steps to allow bliss to be enjoyed during the only time when it can be enjoyed, namely, NOW.

In the end, Maharaj came to understand that the problems of humanity do not involve humans knowing too little dogma and do not involve persons having a “spiritual malady” but do involve the ignorance and insanity that have been passed on by ignorance-and-insanity-driven humans. To that end, additional excerpts from Instability / Insanity: What the Advaita teachings Can (and Cannot Address) – which only have relevance NOW - will be shared:

INSTABILITY / INSANITY INDUCED BY CULTURAL INFLUENCES

To review what has been revealed so far:

INSTABILITY / INSANITY INDUCED BY DUALITY-BASED SPLITTING: The Advaita teachings can address this condition.

INSTABILITY / INSANITY INDUCED BY PSYCHOLOGICAL SPLITTING The Advaita teachings can be a part of the process required to address this condition, but cannot address it entirely.

INSTABILITY / INSANITY INDUCED BY CHEMICAL IMBALANCES, PHYSIOLOGICAL FACTORS, AND BIOLOGICAL FACTORS (including biorhythmic shifts and both male and female menopause).

Because there is no disconnect between the body and mind, and because the mind is the seat of personality, and because personality is the seat of discord and misery, the Advaita teachings can play a part - but the smaller part - in addressing this condition Regarding the latter, you are invited to consider again the following: The main problem of the planet centers in the mind.

The mind is the seat of duality, and duality is that which drives persons in a constantly fluctuating state of being happy vs. being unhappy; of shifting from loving to hating; of moving from idealizing and romanticizing to degrading and debasing; of upgrading and downgrading; of moving from "you light up my life" to "You drive me crazy." Indeed, the latter is half right: the craziness and insanity are there, but it is not because of the partner.

It is because of the insanity of buying into false images; of dualistically upgrading; of having seen in the beginning only "the good" and ignoring the facts before one's very eyes because of some would-be persona's agenda and desires and / or fears. Next, you are invited to understand that not only females suffer the effects of menopause. Men do exactly the same, and both can be treated in order to reduce or eliminate the unpleasant effects. There is plenty of information online for those interested in researching that subject as well as finding the ways that biorhythmic shifts throughout the month affect males and females alike. Now . . .

INSTABILITY / INSANITY INDUCED BY CULTURAL INFLUENCES

 First, few enjoy the process of self-inquiry and few will ever even begin the process of objective self-examination. Yet if self is not seen, in all its forms, then that which can be seen via the inner guru – the inner source of authenticity - shall never be seen. If the inner source of authenticity is not activated, then one . . . will never see the false, which allows for the eventual seeing of the Truth;

will never see what this Am-ness is and is not; will never see the Absolute; will never see the non-beingness beyond the beingness; will never understand the Consciousness or the Awareness; will never see the Nothingness beyond all of the perceived Somethingness; and will never enjoy the fruits of overlaying Reality upon the relative.

Furthermore, because few enjoy the process of self-inquiry and objective self-examination (driven by egotism, as most are, to "focus on my positives and not my negatives") then personality will remain intact and the "assets and liabilities" of all sorts of personalities / personas will induce constant fluctuation and eventual instability and, yes, even insanity when personality disorders reach the highest level of psychic disintegration and psychological deterioration.

For the few who do become willing to undertake an intrepid and comprehensive cataloguing of what some might dualistically be called their "negative traits" or their "personal liabilities," few examine the other areas that are explored by those who complete the online Advaita course. In that course, seekers are invited to explore all of the root causes of the duality that they have accepted as "reality," as "the way things are," an invitation that the masses will never receive; thus, few will ever complete a comprehensive inventory and find all of the sources of duality that must be expunged from that storehouse of false beliefs and bogus ideas and nonsensical concepts called "the mind."

In the course, seekers cannot move on until they are first willing to find the sources of all of their beliefs that generate a sense of separation and better-than-ness and different-from-ness, and those false-pride-based sources are often the ones that are most guarded by ego-states and egotism and denial and that most often trigger anger and defensiveness when raised for consideration, including: . . .

uncovering the lingering effects of parental influences, effects that began when the family of origin raised a child or children in ways that have led those children to become adults who are rigid and distant and excessively formal and remote and detached and aloof ; including . . .

seeing the effects of a religious-or-spirituality-induced sense of separation and better-than-ness, and including . . .

the seeing of all that has manifested as a result of duality-based false pride, including: racism; nationalism and cultural smugness; false pride in one's geographic location or city or state or nation; bigotry; isolationism; hatred by race; hatred regarding sexual preferences; division by political affiliation; ethnocentrism; jingoism; racial intolerance; ad infinitum.

While xenophobia has likely existed since the earliest days of tribalism, it may be at an all-time peak now. There is, in this part of the self-examination process, a fine line between (a) making false generalizations on the one hand and (b) the refusal to admit that there have been, historically, certain races and certain cultures that include persons who are far more separatist and destructive and violent than others.

In the process of self-examination, it can be quite difficult to be objective enough to see and finally admit that one is a member of such a race and such a culture that has historically fostered more hatred and violence and separation than others and which still disseminates much of the programming that supports a sense of superiority and "different-from-ness" and "better-than-ness" and aloofness and coldness and rigidity and arrogance.

Few will ever come to realize that their racial and cultural roots - while they should not invoke shame - should most assuredly not generate pride, either. Yet how many will ever complete even the most rudimentary level of self-examination, much less uncover all of the deep-seated sources of duality and arrogance and perverted pride and, yes, even degrees of sociopathy and a wide variety of pathologies that induce instability and insanity?

To be continued.
