TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS

Specific "reasons" cause persons

• to be obsessive and compulsive

• and render them unable to relax

• and lead them to be driven to go and do and zoom (whether that involves religion; spirituality; employment; "personal relationships"; politicking; reforming; rescuing; seeking love; seeking mass approval and applause and admiration; trying to escape responsibilities; accumulating; finding caretakers; or controlling).

• We are looking at what causes "the reasons" to manifest

• and what must happen in order to be freed from their influence.

We are looking at what causes "the reasons" to manifest and what must happen in order to be freed from their influence.

So, to continue:

Persons obsess, act compulsively, are unable to relax, are fanatical, are driven by subconscious motives, and do whatever authority figures tell them to do - unquestioningly - because of reason #63: namely, the presence of widespread gullibility, especially among non-realized humans.

The causes behind reason #63?

THE ULTIMATE SICKNESS, SPECIFICALLY, WHAT MAHARAJ IDENTIFIED AS THREE OF THE KEY SYMPTOMS OF THE ULTIMATE SICKNESS (NAMELY, "IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY AND INSANITY") AND ESPECIALLY IGNORANCE

"Gullibility" is rooted in unquestioned acceptance and in faith-based trustfulness; that is, it is rooted in abject foolishness. "Faith" is defined as "complete trust or confidence in someone or something or 'Someone' or 'Something'," and in religion, it refers to "a strong belief in God, based on spiritual apprehension and anxiety and worry and fear and angst rather than proof."

Among the non-realized masses, gullibility results when one is unawake, unaware, and unconscious while believing that one is awake and aware and conscious. To that degree, gullibility and foolishness also involve elements of ignorance and insanity.

Maharaj said that "Realization is nothing more than freedom from learned ignorance."

What blocks persons from being freed from ignorance? Indigestion of the mind, resulting in most persons being not "cerebral" but being "cacarebral" because they are being fed a steady diet of the caca-like entrees on which fools feast - including gullibility and foolishness and ignorance - along with some heaping, steaming side dishes of acceptance, conviction, blind loyalty, assuredness and self-assuredness, dependency, co-dependency, and unquestioned concepts, ideas, notions, perceptions, thoughts, theories, views, and perspectives (a.k.a., "beliefs").

When a woman in St. Louis rejected the invitation to question the existence of a God who claims to love "His children" unconditionally but who is simultaneously willing to torture them for eternity if they piss Him off and to question the belief in an all-powerful God who nevertheless refuses to use His power to put to a stop to, for example, war (not to mention His also ignoring disease and birth defects and hunger and violence and the bastardization of the environment and discrimination and pain and suffering and misery and abuse and clitoral mutilation and rape and religion and child molestation and politicians), she sent the following:

"I have to write to tell you that millions of people cannot be wrong [about their belief in God]. Cassandra."

The reply: "The greatest detriment to progressing along the path to realization is the willingness to be influenced by the masses or to be impressed by numbers. Should you experience 'the awakening' someday, should you have your moment of peripetia, one truth regarding the relative existence that will flash across your consciousness is, "Oh my gosh! Not only were millions wrong. It is trillions who have been wrong!"

The following pointer about deception and foolishness has been attributed to Abraham Lincoln: "You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time."

Close, Lincoln, but no cigar. Nowadays, with few exceptions, almost all have been fooled and almost all continue to be fooled.

Krishna said that the realized understand that "he" is beyond both beingness and non-beingness and that all others are . . . fools.

So, the converse would be true:

that the non-realized are fools;

or,

(as the converse of Maharaj's pointer would be)

the "non-realized" are trapped in "learned ignorance."

As Maharaj told one visitor: I would be "really glad to see you out of this foolishness."

Another asked about there being no doer and, therefore, no doingness required:

Questioner: "You mean to say that the greatest work is done by not working?"

Maharaj: "Exactly. All you have to do is to give attention to the obstacles created by the foolish mind."

An ancient proverb said: "A fool and his money are soon parted." (Will Rogers said: "A fool and his money are soon elected.")

Charles Caleb Colton said: "The mistakes of the fool are known to the world, but not to himself. The mistakes of the wise man are known to himself, but not to the world."

As one "non-dualist" put it: "The point is to wake up, not to earn a Ph.D. in waking up.”

The dullest pieces of ignorance are valued as "beliefs," and the dullest beliefs among those claiming realization is that it is about love and SELF-ness and THAT above all else.

And the prerequisites for persons staying unquestioningly on a path or journey that they did not choose but that someone else put them on instead include . . .

. . . gullibility, foolishness, and learned ignorance.

To be continued.

Please enter into the silence of contemplation.
