1. Following eye surgery, clear focusing has not returned and eye strain results from anything other than a brief exposure to a computer screen; moreover, two follow up procedures must be arranged to "fine tune" the effects of the surgery; hence, the postings will be brief for awhile.

A person who is beginning to see her pattern of continuously making the same mistake in forming relationships (as in, "You're right, Floyd! I have a broken picker!) She asked:
"How can I spot fanatics and avoid them rather than
continuing to deal with them over and over?"
Yesterday this was discussed:
A site visitor said: "Everyone is fanatical about something - Maharaj was fanatical about non-duality - you're fanatical about non-duality."
The fallacy of that belief was shown. To further clarify, most of the following manifest alongside fanaticism and they were not observable in Maharaj once he reached a fully-realized state:
bigotry
extremism
hatred
intolerance
zeal
zealotry
arbitrariness
bias
dogmatic
faction
frenzy
immoderation
infatuation
madness
monomania
obsessiveness
obstinacy
partiality
partisanship
prejudice
rage
single-mindedness
stubbornness
unruliness
violence
willfulness
incorrigibility
unreasonableness
As for fanatics or for those fanatics whom you might be dealing with, consider those traits and characteristics or attributes or mannerisms. If you're considering making a commitment with someone or to someone (such as a relationship commitment, a business commitment, a partnership commitment of any kind), might it be wise to take an objective look at that person and see if any of those traits are manifesting?
Some are aware that I work with businesses and use the results of a personality inventory test to determine on a specific 1 to 100 scale the degree to which personality disorders are manifesting and to predict what kind of employee a prospect might be. I have also worked with current employees to show them what the test results reveal about them and to point out certain issues they might address in order to make their work life and their private life more stable and sane and peaceful.
I work with counselors around the globe and take the test results they send to me and then provide them and their clients with reports which contain an analysis of the test results to find what is driving the clients and to provide a treatment plan to address all which the results reveal.
In some cases, couples take the test before marrying in order to find areas of compatibility which are likely to manifest and areas of conflict which their main personality types will generate in their relationship over time..
Many who take advantage of such cutting-edge analysis and insight understand that it is better to avoid falling off a cliff rather than accepting a fall off a cliff as "a risk worth taking" with the hope of avoiding major injury or with the belief that effective treatment for the subsequent injuries will be readily and easily available.
There is no better tool available than awareness regarding what is otherwise hidden or disguised. As proof, how many times post-commitment have you seen that "Mr. Right" was actually "Mr. Oh-So-Unbelievably Wrong" or seen that "A Devil in Disguise" appearing to be "An Angel - A Truly Pure and Charming and Delightful Angel" was indeed a vicious, unnatural force best avoided?
On the personality inventory I use, the levels of fanaticism and the Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder have increased geometrically over the last 10-15 years in both frequency and degree. Both are now highly prevalent; therefore, the list above begs to be used prior to the making of any commitments.

THE EXPLANATION
If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of God in the past was of a weak God, an absentee God, A Santa Claus-type God, a mean, punishing, vindictive God, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring God whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."
The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a God that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring God,' any supposed God that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'God' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.
"That is, a non-narcissistic god / goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'God' and focus on the 'God as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."
Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:
