Evidence of Realization: "Dancing Lightly and Naturally"
Maharaj: “It is the dance of the conscious presence.”
Let’s pause for a moment, as Maharaj always eventually did during satsang, to redirect the focus of all non-duality-based discussions on “the big picture” by “returning to the bottom line” which is this:
a. Humankind’s problems are a result of the masses being infected with the Ultimate Sickness;
b. Three key symptoms of that Sickness, according to Maharaj, are “ignorance, stupidity and insanity”;
and
c. The presence of those symptoms has always plagued and contaminated not as much the bodies of the human masses with the Sickness but instead have plagued and contaminated the warped and perverted minds of humans.
The result, because thoughts drive words and words drive actions, is this:
when the Sick thoughts and beliefs manifested in the contaminated minds of humans are followed by the Sick words which those thoughts and beliefs inspire in, then Sick actions will always follow.
THOUGHTS to WORDS and WORDS to ACTIONS is the Sick sequence humans are trapped in, Sick THOUGHTS always lead to Sick WORDS, and Sick WORDS always lead to Sick ACTIONS among the non-realized masses.
[NOTE: Therefore, because the mind is the seat of the Sickness, Maharaj came to understand the the Sickness is a mental, psychological condition rather than a "too-little-dogma-sickness" or a "spiritual malady."]
As is the case with Covid-19, the symptoms of the Sickness can be present and can spread the Sickness without the sleepwalking masses being aware of the presence of the Sickness at all.
When the agendas of ego-states are driving human thoughts and words and actions, then egotism (and other ego-defense mechanisms) can hide the symptoms from view.
Serial rapist and murderer Ted Bundy, who often had sex with his dead victims, was driven by the effects of “The Dark Triad” and other personality disorders which will prevent anyone from dancing lightly.
All three of the symptoms also block not only the manifesting of a sense of lightness but also block the light and leave sufferers in the darkness.
As for Bundy, he appeared to many to be quite well, to be charming, and to be harmless; he was described by some who knew him as “a very nice person” and “the kind of guy you’d want your sister to marry.”
He provided evidence that, intelligent or not, one can be a very effective con and can display either one or two or all three of the key symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness.
Some think that the use of all three words to describe the symptoms is evidence of redundancy, of overkill, but Maharaj saw them clearly and understood that while all three symptoms are the bane of humanity, they each have unique, distinctive properties; therefore, let’s look at his take in more detail:
IGNORANCE
1. As for “ignorance” (which some define as “a lack of knowledge or information”) the word pointed to something quite different to Maharaj. He would eventually disparage the seeking of knowledge and information, but to the point here he said that he used the term to refer to “learned ignorance.”
He would also say that “realization is nothing more than being free of the belief in any and all learned ignorance” (that type of ignorance being learned via ignorant programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing, and indoctrination.)
[NOTE: The wise that understand that the pervasiveness of “learned ignorance” is very real also understand what is equally real is what was long ago referred to in Latin as “ignorantia affectata” or “willful ignorance.” Some love their ignorance and willfully display it. As Obama once said of his Republican critics who regularly put their ignorance on display, “It’s like these guys take pride in being ignorant."]
STUPIDITY
2. The condition of stupidity focuses on ACTIONS, so stupidity is often defined as “behavior that shows a lack of good sense or judgment” as well as “the state of being foolish.”
Thus, with the thoughts to words to actions sequence taken into consideration, then stupidity is that which rests in the human mind and which eventually leads to actions which provide evidence of senselessness, a lack of sound logic and reason and judgment, the presence of foolishness, and evidence that one could be deemed to be “a fool.”
Stupidity can also have a genetic aspect or can result from brain damage or brain injury, either genetic or self-induced (for example, via the abuse of certain drugs or other toxins).
INSANITY
3. Insanity also might be the end result of the abuse of certain drugs or other toxins but generally involves a “taught-and-learned-aspect” which is, again, rooted in being exposed to contaminated and insane programming, conditioning, etc.
Whether all three of those symptoms manifest within any given individual or as a pair or singularly, they will assure that the individual will be unable to see the light, will be afraid of the light or will hate the light, will prefer the darkness, shall not care at all about “enlightenment,” will prefer the heaviness, will never be able to dance lightly through the manifestation, and will remain trapped in the darkness until the end of the manifestation.
