F.: First, please focus on the eagle as you read the content of the vision described at http://www.floydhenderson.com/article1.htm . Now, review the conduct of the eagle. The eagle soars above it all, attached to nothing in the material realm but able to witness it all clearly. It observes that, in one case after another, what appeared to be one thing turned out not to be that at all—just like “the snake in the rope.” It sees that in every case where it had taken itself to be one thing or another, it was none of those at all.
It can look back on the “physical body” standing outside the archway, witnessing it objectively and seeing that What It Truly Is was not that body at all. It can observe objectively the persona that entered the mental realm and can see that all of the imagined roles during its lifetime never truly identified Who or What It Really Is. It can look back on the raven that seemed to believe it "had it all" and soared with emotional intoxication as it reached new heights by playing its lofty religious and spiritual roles. It can witness that What It Truly Is is not any role either. It can look back on the bird of ignorance—the gull—and witness its unlimited joy during the child ignorance stage. Yet even after moving through the child ignorance stage and merely witnessing without judgment, an element of subject-object “separation” remains: “I (subject) see that (object).”
At what stage of the vision are you? Have you moved beyond body identification? Have you moved beyond mind identification? Have you seen that the various personas being played are not You? Have you seen that personality has nothing to do with Who or What you Are? Have you forfeited all of the religious concepts and spiritual knowledge (also known as “learned ignorance”) which lead to “perceived separation”? If so, what are you perceiving differently? Are you seeing that what had been previously perceived as a snake is nothing more than a coiled rope? Can you now list the many things that you were once so sure of as being one thing but that you now see were not that at all? Please enter the silence of contemplation.
