A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: [Visitors to the site are being given access into the consciousness "in real time" in order to see exactly how the understanding unfolded, step-by-step, as every part of the vision - and The Understanding - eventually became clear. What is being quoted (in green) are the revelations that were emanating from the inner resource - that is, via the pure consciousness ... the inner guru - as the final blockages were falling away and allowing access to that which had always been known, within.]
A prior post left off with this:
Is that an invitation to go to the borderline, and then move even beyond that ... to the void? To the nothingness? Wow. This vision is packed chock full! So many of the final pieces of the puzzle which has been missing are now falling into place!
It was known that Maharaj had said that all of the riddles around "the journey" and Realization would be solved not by doing something but by doing nothing. Nothing was being done when the vision came. He also said that contact with the intuition that accompanies the I Am-ness can come if quiet and focused contemplation happens.
He said too that it is at the borderline where full access to that "intuition" is "realized and held." It was also understood that the borderline had been spoken of as the borderline of beingness and non-beingness, the borderline where the intellect "subsides."
Already read and discounted was the suggestion by some that the borderline is crossed midway during the "going back" - the reversing process - when the mind and belief in personas end as the Child No-Knowing Stage or Child Ignorance Stage is reached once again.
That was accepted for a while, but once it was clear what "intellect" actually referred to, then it was concluded that such had to be a misperception. Because "intellect" merely refers to the capacity for understanding (and because a child has that capacity, though the capacity cannot be used yet at the earliest level of childhood) then that could not be the borderline.
Also, it was clear that at the level of Pure Witnessing, the capacity for understanding was still present there as well.
What suddenly became clear was this: "Even at the Child No-Knowing Stage, where there is no body or mind or personality identification, the capacity to understand is there. In fact, it's at that point during the 'going back' that the elimination of the mind and the elimination of belief in the validity of any and all formerly-assigned-or-assumed-personas sets the stage for the totally unadulterated and untainted understanding to happen. Only then can the honesty required for Realization manifest."
Then this came almost as a "side note": "Consider honesty for a moment. Has it ever occurred to You that the only 'relationship' you've ever seen that 'lasted' was the one between a Realized teacher and a devoted, earnest seeker?"
and
"Actually, doesn't the honesty reach its pinnacle when there is an honesty-based 'relationship' (actually a unicity) between you and the inner guru? When there are no obstructions blocking full access to that inner resource? Are you seeing the reason that the concept of 'relationship,' which is complete fiction in non-dual terms, always proves to be such an absurdity when played out in the relative? Other than the seeker-guru paradigm (which is as non-dual as the summative statement 'I AM THAT; I AM'), all 'relationships' will eventually become a compost in which dishonesty thrives."
Then it became clear: "That is why 'relationships' are dismissed among non-dualists as 'merely another conceptualization'; the understanding of that pointer comes in light of the understanding of 'Unicity' and "Love.' Yes, I have shared with seekers that 'husbanding' or 'wifing' can happen even in the absence of the assumption of the role of 'The Husband' or 'The Wife.' And because roles are ultimate dishonesty, then all that comes with them is dishonesty. How could 'Truth' possibly be known if there is dishonesty, and there will be dishonesty if there is the presence of even a single role, including the 'good' ones like the third-step 'Religious One' or the third-step 'Spiritual Giant'."
Suddenly, an Oscar Wilde quote sprang into consciousness: "The one charm about marriage is that it makes a life of deception absolutely necessary for both parties."
Then this came: "But isn't that true of every so-called, conceptual 'relationship'? Employer-employee; politician-supporter; world leader #1-world leader #2; the preacher-the laity; the priest-the congregant; the criminal-the investigator; the parent-the child; the teacher-the student; ad infinitum."
Next, this came: "Belief in any duality, including the dualistic concept of 'relationship,' will always generate chaos. The master addiction among humans is an addiction to control, and the secondary addiction is to power in order to be able to control. And both power and control are nothing more than concepts. Thus, 'relationships' become the playing field where control-chaos games are played. Peace can only come with an understanding of the Unicity and Love! Wow! Some deeper understanding is trying to break out!"]
I picked up a copy of the vision and began re-reading, and at the end of that reading came this: "Everything in the relative is about relationship / two-ness / a sense of separation. The body is outside the arch; the mind is separated from reality; the personas, even the 'good' ones as represented by the religious / spiritual at the third step, separate; the child is separate from the parent; the subject-object witnessing witnesses duality; the Pure Witnessing sees the unicity but that pure, manifested consciousness will not last as such."
Then came: ... millions of forms ... are . . . You!
"Not 'in relationship with You' but just ... 'You'."
Then, "If the consciousness is unblocked and Awareness is Aware of ItSelf, then YOU ARE Maharaj"
and
"If the consciousness is blocked and Awareness is not Aware of ItSelf, then YOU ARE Hitler."
Then, "Hey, wait just a minute. I call 'BS' on that," followed immediately by "WHO is calling BS on that? What egotism-driven ego-state is refusing to hear that pointer?" followed by "Oh my ... mine."
Then, the words from that speck of consciousness called "Maharaj" came: "Only that person will visit this place whose virtue and sin have come to an end."
And it was understood: "There is no truth to good vs. evil and virtuous vs. sinful dualities, or any dualities. So what is there instead?"
And then the voice of pure consciousness which allowed Awareness to be Aware of ItSelf" came: "Ignorance, stupidity, and insanity."
"Whoa."
To be continued.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: [Continued from yesterday] Pausing at that point to reflect on what the content of the vision had revealed so far and to determine if there was anything else that was to be made clear before moving on, it was seen why knowledge - "learned ignorance" - was not only unnecessary for Realization but was a hindrance ... a major stumbling block.
Maharaj had mentioned "intuition" instead, and it was seen that it is intuition - not knowledge - that allows the inner guru / inner resource to be tapped. Maharaj had mentioned "the intellect" and "wisdom," and it had become clear that intellect - the capacity to understand - is the necessary ingredient.
That is why Maharaj did not refuse those he knew to be "ignorant, stupid, and insane" - because he had experienced his own stupidity and ignorance and insanity and knew that the sincere, dedicated seeker could overcome those obstacles and Realize. Yet he did reject those stuck at the raven level, at the third-step level ...
... where they were playing their "Super Religious" role and their "Spiritual Giant" roles,
... where such types stood in the dim light of dawn but believed most ignorantly that they were being bathed in the full light of the noonday sun,
... where they were sure that they had reached the end of "the journey" when they had not even passed the midway point and
... where they were not willing to listen to reason and logic but were there to proselytize and to try to reinforce their false "good" roles and their phony "good" image.
Those types he cast out from the loft; by contrast, some who sometimes asked ignorant or stupid or insane questions were allowed to remain, and he shared the non-dual message with them. He dispensed the Ultimate Medicine to address their Ultimate Sickness. Why? Because he had experienced his own former ignorance and stupidity and insanity.
It was determined at that point in the review of the messages in the vision that his method was a wise and sane approach and that it would be followed here. That is why - after having experienced my own former ignorance and stupidity and insanity - that persons with those obstacles are accepted, worked with, and answered when they ask their questions if they are sincerely seeking.
Why would anyone that has been given the Ultimate Medicine decide that the Ultimately Sick were not welcome ... that only the Truly Well could come? That stance in itself would be totally ignorant, stupid, and insane.
During the days when satsang was offered regularly here, and during certain retreats offered here even now, those marked by "ignorance" are welcomed as was the case with Maharaj, it having been seen that they could have the potential to overcome their obstacles to Realization if those obstacles can be removed so that they can tap into their inner capacity to understand.
But just as Maharaj refused to allow the arrogant to try to influence those who had come to hear the truth, so too will those types be cast aside here as well. They might require, as does the tea, more time to steep to reach a point where the full flavor and essence can be accessed and enjoyed. It may require more time before they are open and ready to move beyond the raven stage. Or, sometimes tea can be too weak to ever reach a point of readiness. Whatever.
Moreover, when confronted by those among the masses who will never move beyond the raven stage (who will forever play their false-and-phony-and-pretentious-religious-and-spiritual-roles), there is not an iota of energy that is expended here when it is seen that they will steadfastly refuse to listen to any pointers that could potentially allow them to shift to the gull stage and the eagle stage and to Full Realization. There is simply a spontaneous movement away from those types.
Far preferred is the quiet and the solitude over company if having company merely sets the stage for hearing nonsense. Few realize that companionship at any cost is its own form of imprisonment and torture.
[Maharaj was asked, long after his wife had taken mahasamadhi, why he had not remarried. He said, I am married ... I am married to freedom!]
Maharaj knew that working with those types would be a waste of energy, so he cast them out if they proved to be immovably obstinate and disproportionally arrogant. Same here. If clients tell a naturopathic doctor that they refuse to take the recommended supplements that are required to rejuvenate damaged organs, that doctor does not then follow them home and try to force the supplements down their throats. That physician works with the willing. So too was the case with Maharaj, and it was seen that the case here must be the same.
Experience has shown that the levels of ignorance and the depth of programming and conditioning and the heights of egotism among those who assume religious and spiritual identities - and who are totally self-satisfied by the better-than image that they work endlessly to project - will avoid most opportunities to question their never-questioned beliefs (which are the greatest obstacle of all to their ever Realizing and being free).
But can even those obstacles be overcome? Of course, because "maharaj" overcame those obstacles; "floyd" overcame those obstacles. It can happen, and must, because a grand leap from the second to the fourth step is impossible. The playing of phony "good" roles is as much a step on "the path" as any other, but those roles - like all - must be transcended if a seeker is to move along the remainder of "the path" and complete the entire "journey" (including ALL of the legs on that "trip").
All of that was seen via the vision and by looking at Maharaj's experience and at my own.
To be continued.

What is being quoted (in green) are the revelations that were emanating from the inner resource - that is, via the pure consciousness ... the inner guru - as the final blockages were falling away and allowing access to that which had always been known, within.]
The last post left off reporting that this question came after investigating the three birds and their symbolism and relevance:
"So with these three birds representing different 'bodies' / 'stages,' might they also provide some simpler understanding of the very confusing and convoluted discussions about 'the gross, subtle, and causal bodies? Hummm."
"No ... wait. It's clear that the representation of the physical body or gross - the elemental plant food body - is presented prior to the birds: it's that body that's left outside the arch. That's the body-cum-consciousness which needs gross food, drink and air.
"But what about the subtle body? That's the vehicle of consciousness and the vehicle of desires and the vehicle that also houses the mind and intellect, so in the vision that would be the body walking through trees and across water. I know Maharaj said that body is 'created with the emergence of the ‘I am’ idea' and 'is momentary. Real when present, unreal when over.'
"In the vision, that's also before the birds appear, so the birds aren't representing either of those 'bodies.' That leaves the causal body that many in the East consider to be a higher subtle body, beyond even the mental body that was seen moving through the arch. Seems I read that when belief in personality ends, the 'essence' of You is absorbed into the causal body ... or shifts to the causal body form?
"In the vision, that happens when the raven - when belief in the religious-spiritual self - comes to an end and is transformed into the gull. So that's where the birds come in. But I also read that there will eventually come an awareness of all 'others' and that there will no longer be anything 'seen' as another - as an 'other' - and that what will then seen is the unicity, Love, wisdom, bliss, everythingness, nothingness.
"So that begins with the manifestation of the gull and comes into its fullness in the cave":
To your left and to your right drift millions of forms, and on closer inspection, You see that they are . . . You! Each looks to be a clone maybe a transparent clone but a clone nevertheless of You!
Then, it was recalled that Maharaj taught: " ... there is something that may be called the memory body, or causal body, a record of all that was thought, wanted and done. It is like a cloud of images held together."
At that point, what flashed into consciousness was "Jung" and "archetypes" and the genetic codes serving as a storehouse of images of the entire human experience."
Then I went back to the readings and found this:
Maharaj: " ... what prevents the insight into one’s True Nature is the weakness and obtuseness of the mind and its tendency to skip the subtle and focus on the gross only."
It became clear that the gross body is required for the manifestation of consciousness but that there's so much more to grasp beyond that. It also became clear that the focus and preoccupation with the gross body had to be transcended in order for any understanding of that which is beyond the physical only to manifest. Yet it was also clear that it was not the Am-ness that had to be forsaken but merely the tendency to focus on the gross alone. I searched for another passage that flashed into consciousness at that moment and found this:
Maharaj: "Abandon all self-concern; worry not about your welfare, material or spiritual; abandon every desire, gross or subtle; stop thinking of achievement of any kind. You are complete here and now, you need absolutely nothing."
"Yes! There it is. Confirmation of what I was concluding about the raven coming to end - bringing to an end the playing of the false religious and false spiritual roles. 'Worry not about ... [the] material or [the] spiritual.' Abandon it all! Yes!"
Then another passage flashed into consciousness and the readings were searched through again until this was found:
Maharaj: "Your true being is entirely unself-conscious, completely free from all self-identification with whatever it may be ... gross, subtle or transcendental"
as well as this exchange:
M: "Again, you take yourself to be the body."
Questioner: "Even if I dismiss this body of bones, flesh and blood as not-me; still I remain with the subtle body made up of thoughts and feelings, memories and imaginations. If I dismiss these also as not-me, I still remain with consciousness, which also is a kind of body."
M: "You are quite right, but you need not stop there. Go beyond."
"Beyond the three bodies? Is that an invitation to go to the borderline, and then move even beyond that ... to the void? To the nothingness?" Wow. This vision is packed chock full! So many of the final pieces of the puzzle which had been missing are now falling into place! Now to find where the borderline is ... and what the borderline is."

Next, it was asked: "So what is the deal with the raven ending and manifesting as a gull" and then "What is the significance of the gull crashing into an eagle and becoming ... that?"
It was already understood that the eagle sees far better than humans - that persons look at things every day and do not know that what appears to be seen is not what it appears to be at all while the eagle, by contrast, can see a rabbit from two miles away and knows exactly what it: a "carrier" of the consciousness that is required for the eagle to replenish its ever-coming-and-going quantities of conscious-energy in its body-cum-consciousness, a specialized energy supply which must be constantly replenished through eating (as with all "living things").
So the eagle is known for its keen eyesight - its ability to see clearly and to see things that many other creatures miss. It also often symbolizes immortality.
Then came this: "Clear seeing now as well as immortal ... everlasting. Hummm. So what might that mean to the non-dualist? Let's see. Might that symbolize [a] the conscious-energy (which - when unblocked - makes clear seeing / Pure Witnessing possible during the Am-ness) and also [b] the everlasting Awareness (which is not aware of ItSelf prior to consciousness and post-consciousness but can be aware of ItSelf now during the manifestation)?
"So the eagle must symbolize sharp focus and clear vision and judging properly what it sees (as is the case with the Realized that see things the way they actually are) rather than seeing nothing as it is (as is the case with the non-Realized)."
Immediately, another flash ... another aha moment: "So non-Realized persons would represent subject-object witnesses while the eagle must represent the 'Pure Witness,' so the True Self during the manifestation of unblocked consciousness is ... the Pure Witness!"
Then this came: "No. Wait. Not the 'Pure Witness' but 'Pure Witnessing.' There's nothing personal, so there's no witness or Witness. There's just subject-object witnessing or Pure Witnessing. As with the eagle, that Witnessing happens in a 'keen and clear manner with a sharper focus and more accurate perception that used among the masses.'
"Therefore, the eagle must represent the Real Self / Pure Witnessing during the manifestation. But Pure Witnessing at some point will end as far as this manifestation is concerned (but where or when)? Wait ... would that be at the borderline? When the unmanifesting nears that place from which it first began its movement into the realm of the manifested? Triple wow! I knew for some reason that the content of the vision had to be written down as soon as I awoke, but I had no notion about why ... until now.
"So the eagle, which often symbolizes immortality, is the essence of both the 'AM-ness' and the 'THAT-ness': prior to manifestation, it is That Awareness which is not aware of, just as is the case post-manifestation. Manifested, that energy evolves / devolves into the consciousness which is soon blocked; that blocked consciousness practices subject-object witnessing as a result of its propensity for conscious-of-ness, which then can - if Realization happens - become aware of Awareness and its Original Nature and the means by which abidance as THAT can happen now! Yes! This is all becoming so freakin' clear!"
Next, this came: "So the birds are nothing more than versions of the composite unity that persons are, corrupted in the mental state as a result of programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, etc. The body is just an elemental plant food body this is circulating air and that is temporarily-housing the conscious-energy. All nothing more than 'stuff,' temporarily coming together, sure to come apart."
Then, "So with these three birds representing different 'bodies' or 'stages,' might they also provide some simpler understanding of the very confusing and convoluted notions about 'the gross, subtle, and causal bodies that Maharaj referenced? Hummm."
Now, a pause for you to consider. Are You understanding something about the message being revealed through the symbolism of the three birds which you might not have been aware of before?

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: [Visitors to the site are being invited to come along and join in as if you are a part of the "live action" that occurred years ago as the ultimate undoing of the mysteries unfolded and to "look over floyd's shoulder" as the final obscurities to knowing "the Real Floyd" were eliminated via the messages of the vision, allowing the understanding of the functioning of the totality to manifest. You will be given access into the consciousness "in real time" and you will see exactly how the understanding unfolded, step-by-step, as every part of the vision - and The Understanding - eventually became clear.]
Now, to expand on yesterday's post as the "message of the three birds and what they symbolized became clear":
As with many people, there was already a general understanding of some of the symbolism of the three birds.
The raven was known to be associated with the concept of "death"; the gull associated with ignorance and with not knowing; and the eagle with keen and clear observation / witnessing, with a sharper focus and more accurate perception than any persons and with a capacity for moving at incredibly fast speeds.
The answer to "Why did a body stay outside the arch?" was answered when the answer first came to this: "What was the body that was walking through trees and across water? Certainly that could not be a physical body."
[Note: The quotes being catalogued here are what some might claim were like a "disembodied voice," but that was not the case. Here, there has never been any schizophrenic hearing of "the voice of God" or "the universe speaking" or "a message from something beyond." No, what is being quoted are the emanations that came from the inner resource (via the pure consciousness, the inner guru) as the final blockages were falling away and allowing access to that which had always been known, within.]
At that point, it became clear that what was moving through the trees and across the water could not be physical so it had to be ... mental. Working back from that, the body outside the arch has to be the physical, elemental plant food body ... the "gross body."
That left this: "So what's the deal with the raven, and what is transferred from the body by the fire and into the raven?"
If the body outside the arch represented the physical and the form entering into a different realm inside the arch was mental, then that leaves the body by the fire (fire being a long-standing symbol of purification) as ... what? A third part, or merely a part of the mental body?
Then two passages that had been read more than a year before in "I AM THAT" flashed into consciousness:
Questioner: "Between the body and pure awareness stands the ‘Inner organ’, antahkarana, the ‘subtle body’, the ‘mental body’, whatever the name"
and then a later pointer offered by Maharaj to another seeker:
Maharaj: "As long as the bodies, however subtle, last, the ‘I am’ appears as many. Beyond the body there is only the One."
So there is the "body" walking through trees and across water that is also the "mental body" and the body containing the illusions of personality. Then it hit: "Aha! Body! Mind! Personality! Easy as 1, 2, 3!"
[What was also becoming clear was that the vision was depicting certain "steps" or components of a movement, a shift, a "journey," and by understanding that the mind is left behind after the second step is completed, then this became clear: "The mind is not needed to reach the full understanding; in fact, it must - evidently - be an impediment (just extra baggage, if you will) that must be discarded early on if the 'journey' is to advance." Then, the words of Maharaj returned: "It is only your mind that prevents Self-Knowledge" and "What prevents you from knowing YourSelf as all and beyond all is the mind based on memory. It has power over you as long as you trust it. Don't struggle with it; just disregard it" and "There is no such thing as mind."]
Then, this came: "So what is transferred from the body by the fire and into the raven ... the 'bird of death'?"
The French anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss proposed a theory which suggested that the raven (like the coyote) obtained mythic status because it was a mediator between life and death. As a carrion bird, ravens became associated with the dead, and in the myths of many cultures, the raven is associated with things "spiritual."
"So the transference deals with what? It must be the final vestige of personality: the false religious-spiritual persona that is adopted. The sense of a spirit within had to leave, had to be given up! So is that the final role? Yes! That's it. No wait. The vision goes on. There's more to be sought because there is more to be revealed. So that's it: 'The Seeker' role must continue for a while even after transitioning beyond the assumption of the false identity of 'The Religious-Spiritual One!' Got it! That's it!"
So to review: first, there's a movement away from the physical body and its focus on the physical realm. Then there's a period of experiencing the mind and personality in a realm somewhat removed from the physical but still acted out in that realm. Old 'bad' roles are left behind and new 'good' roles are assumed. "Hummm."
Then the question: "So why is the religious-spiritual role 'siphoned off' into the raven? Well, see what happens to it: it comes to an end. It is allowed to "die."
It leaves the mental body where the belief in false roles are stored, leaving that body "free" of the impurities that led to a belief in fiction and non-truths. The end of the raven, therefore, is symbolic of the end of things "spiritual" (that is, "spiritual beliefs") which finally come to an end with the transformation into a gull - the symbol of "not knowing" and "personal freedom." (More on that to follow).
Again, the fire came into consciousness. "That must signal the need to purify the 'mind.' No, wait. That's nonsense. Maharaj said he has no mind ... that he had reached a state of 'zero concepts.' So it is not about purifying the mind. How can garbage be purified? It cannot. It must be about being rid of it! Yes!"
Then, arose the question that I've subsequently been asked a thousand times since: "But how?"
Then it came: "By giving up belief in the content of the mind! That's the next piece! That's it! Then belief in those 'good' roles also ends, but seeking continues for a spell."
Simultaneously and instantaneously another piece of the puzzle was solved: "That's it - the raven gives way to the gull, so beliefs - even spiritual beliefs - give way to no beliefs at all."
In some cultures the gull represents personal freedom; with non-dualists, that would read, "Freedom from the person, from personality identification, from belief in personhood." So giving up the playing of the role of "The Spiritual Giant" sets the stage for finally being free of all assigned and assumed personas.
With many, the seagull represents a carefree attitude, a lack of rigidity, and total freedom, so the piece dealing with the raven-to-gull transformation was suddenly easy to solve by that point because the gull is associated with "ignorance" ... with "not knowing." Immediately, what came into consciousness was the phrase "The Child Ignorance Stage! Yes!")
Then there was a "re-direction" of sorts. "No, make that 'The Child No-Knowing Stage,' because both the manifestation and knowing nothing precedes the ignorance that is passed on to the child via programming, conditioning, acculturation, domestication, indoctrination, and brainwashing."
Then I reviewed: "Physical body; mind; personality; the Child No-Knowing State. Yeah! So let's see; so far ... 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 parts ... four messages or clarifications or ... what?" [They were not yet seen as specific steps that must be completed in an exact, step-wise fashion that related to Maharaj's advice to "go back" and to "reverse" and to follow the path back to the Source by the same way that You came in. Yet that awareness was flickering about on the edge of consciousness.]
Then, I asked My Self: "But why birds? For their various symbolic values alone? Seems valid. But do birds symbolize anything else? Of course! Freedom! And why are they free? Because they are not attached to anything. They are the epitome of freedom! So the message there? I cannot be free ... I cannot move on to the next stage if I am attached to anything, be it a role or a person or a thing. Does that mean I can't care? That I won't know Love vs. love? No. Do birds care ... about their young, for example? Of course. They tend to their young early on, but eventually, they - like all things in nature - set them free to abide on their own.
"Similarly, the black bear in torn when she leaves her cubs once she is sure they have all that is required for the rest of their journey, and she feels pulled back to them when she hears their cries, but eventually she does what is wise and natural and moves on. Wow! That is Love (which looks nothing like what the non-Realized take 'love' to be!) Double wow!"
That is what I saw up to that point as I studied the vision and contemplated its many messages. Now, what are You seeing?
To be continued.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: THE REST OF THE STORY: An earlier series that introduced the fact that "the journey" actually has three "legs" or parts was an understanding that came after a dream which continued where the vision left off. In that dream, the way that Awareness manifests was seen as Awareness exited into the crystal cave via the door of the dome of light, crossed the cave, exited through the veil into the tunnel, was shot out of the tunnel in the form of the eagle, transformed into a gull and then a raven, entered into manifestation, and moved through the arch and into a human body.
The difference after coming back a second time after Realization? The body left the forest, walked across a field, returned to the same situation it was in prior to the journey to the cave and the dome and beyond, and then continued with the relative existence. But in a totally different way.
That's what happens when the understanding of Reality is overlaid on "reality" ... on the relative existence. That is the third leg of "the journey":
On the first leg, there is the process of moving from Your Original Nature to identification with the body. That "journey" separates persons by seven degrees from an awareness of Awareness and their Original Nature.
On the second leg, the seeker completes the entire "journey" as described in the vision and Realizes. Many seekers stop there, never completing the third leg but living in a kind of "foo-foo world, out there" ... dissociated ... detached from "reality" (from things relative) and forsaking the Am-ness rather than allowing "Applied Advaita" to allow for joy and / or peace to happen spontaneously throughout the remainder of the manifestation.
The third leg is like the first except it happens with full awareness - fully aware of the way that programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing and indoctrination led to a relative existence that was marked and marred by what Maharaj called "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity."
Happening with full awareness, the original "traps" (which persons are subjected to during the initial manifestation) are avoided this time around, allowing the remainder of the manifestation to unfold spontaneously under the auspices of understanding, reason, logic and sanity.
So, revealed through the vision are the three parts of "the journey" (the three legs, if you will), all of which are required for Realization and natural abidance. There are also, however, several other groups of three in the vision that can reveal more about non-duality if their meaning and symbolism are understood:
there are three birds;
there are three types of "bodies" that represent three stages of shifting beyond the influence of programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing and indoctrination;
there are three states in which the energy functions: prior to consciousness, during the manifestation of consciousness, and then once again unmanifested / not manifested; and
there are three levels that must be transcended to complete the "going back, the reversing" including the unblocking of the consciousness, reaching "the borderline" that Maharaj spoke of, and then "crossing over."
So, to begin, let's look at what the three birds can reveal about the non-dual understanding. After awakening fully following the vision, a rough overview of the vision's content was written quickly and sketchily so that it would not be lost as happened with Coleridge and his vision that would be laid out only partially in "Kubla Khan."
[According to Coleridge's Preface to "Kubla Khan," the poem was composed one night after he experienced a drug-induced dream that came following the reading of a work describing Xanadu, the summer palace of the Mongol ruler and Emperor of China Kublai Khan. Upon waking, Coleridge set about writing the lines of poetry that came to him from the dream until he was interrupted by a person visiting from Porlock. The poem could not be completed according to its original 200–300 line plan as the interruption caused Coleridge to forget the lines. Knowing that, I determined that it would not happen. A knock at my door (later determined to have been by the condominium's jack-of-all-trades, Manuel) was ignored, and the overview of the vision was on paper. Then, I moved to the computer and began fleshing out more of the details that were still fresh, then immediately adding more details that came with a second and third and fourth reading of the script containing the vision. At that point, the focus was on recalling and recording concrete details only, reproducing as many specific elements of the vision as possible. There was no clue at all at that point about what the vision meant. There was only a sense that the content had the potential to reveal something significant that I had been trying to understand for years. When clarity via the vision began to come, it came not at once but over a period of days and weeks as more and more of the messages contained therein were considered in the silence. Even more understanding came with the dream referenced above that provided clarity around the "third leg" of "the journey" that is required. Additional research gave more clarity first to the message of the three birds and then much, much more later on.]
As with many people, there was already a general understanding of some of the symbolism of the three birds. The raven was known to be associated with the concept of "death" (from Poe's "Raven" and the bird's haunting repetition of "nevermore");
From the term "being gulled," there was a sense that the gull symbolized ignorance ... not knowing; and the eagle was known for being a sharp and keen and clear observer that could see far more than any average human and that had a sharper focus and more accurate perception than any human or animal on the planet. It was known that, when on a quest, the eagle can dive at speeds of 125–200 miles per hour.
But even after the research, the entire message behind the three birds was not clear. The "seven-step path" had most certainly not been revealed at that point. So questioning began: "Why did a body stay outside the arch?"
This from the vision was reconsidered: Stepping inside, you look over your shoulder to see that your physical body has remained outside the arch. You sense some degree of separation from the material.
Then this was asked: "What was the body that was walking through trees and across water? Certainly that could not be a physical body."
So these three parts of the vision were reconsidered: When you turn to see where the arch has led, you notice that the spring waters have suddenly multiplied into a slow-moving stream
and
Trees line either side of the stream, and you begin walking through them toward the sounds of the water crashing below. Astonished, you noticed that you are literally walking through the trees
and
As you near the edge of the cliff, you walk across the top of the water, not becoming wet at all.
Then there was the query: "What's the deal with the raven, and what is transferred from the body by the fire, and what is the deal with the raven ending and manifesting as a gull; and then what is the significance of the gull crashing into an eagle and becoming ... that?"
Now, a pause for you to consider. Are You understanding something about the message being revealed through the symbolism of the three birds?
To be continued.
Please enter the silence of contemplation.

As with many people, there was already a general understanding of some of the symbolism of the three birds. The raven was known to be associated with the concept of "death" (from Poe's "Raven" and the bird's haunting repetition of "nevermore");

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: [Continued from yesterday]
First, you will are invited to read the vision; to know that it made no sense after it first came; to understand that its message "hit like a lightning bolt" that brought the light and the explosive force that blasted away the final obstructions and blockages; that beyond its basic revelations regarding the non-dual teachings, many other more subtle parts of the teachings were only seen and recognized over a period of days and weeks and months; and that the entire three-legged journey can be understood by you now - with no more long and arduous seeking required - if you understand what the vision reveals.
THE VISION, Completed
Trees line either side of the stream, and you begin walking through them toward the sounds of the water crashing below. Astonished, you noticed that you are literally walking through the trees. As you progress, fauna of several species join you: a black bear rubs against your leg in the manner of a docile house cat; a cougar does the same on the opposite side, and each playfully swats at the other as if to proclaim dominion over both of your legs; a lamb skips along ahead as a heron brings up the rear. He walks as if on stilts, taking more time than needed, looking rather judgmentally, it seems, at the wasting of energy by his peers.
As you near the edge of the cliff, you walk across the top of the water, not becoming wet at all; your new companions either lead or follow. As you approach the left side of the plateau, the animals nudge you toward a winding walkway of sorts, cut from the stone side of the cliff naturally, definitely not made by man. After swinging down and around and back to your right, you find yourself on a level piece of ground jutting out from the side of the cliff. You see that a pond is overflowing, part of its waters cascading down the cliff side and pooling in another flat below.
That same pattern repeats itself until the waters reach a level valley. You watch the falling waters eventually form a river that winds its way across the desert basin. Along the river has sprung up a variety of shade trees. All else appears brown and dry. Then in the far distance, hills grow into mountains. In the forefront arise huge columns of stone, cathedral-like, forming spires of varying shapes and heights. The colors vibrate with life, offering images of the blues and oranges and browns and beiges like those of Venetian palazzos when reflected in the waters of the Grand Canal.
In the far distance to the left stand even grander mountain ranges. Puffy clouds float slowly across the sky. You focus attention on a fire burning next to the pool, and you feel yourself being nudged there by the bear, nudged in a very persuasive way. Then, from behind the cougar lifts its front paws onto your shoulders, forcing you into a cross-legged, seated position before the campfire. Finally, all four animals form a semi-circle around you, from your left side, behind you, and to your right.
Looking at the animals quizzically, you notice that each is focusing on an object in the distance. Allowing your eyes to follow the path of theirs, see a bird of some kind flying directly at you, drawing nearer by the second. Its speed accelerates as it moves dart-like across the skies, aimed at your chest like an avian arrow. Yet you feel very calm.
As the bird approaches closer and closer, you extend your arms and, with the sides of your hands touching and your palms up, you form a landing area for the fowl. A raven, the bird of death that comes from the spiritual realm, now slows as it approaches even nearer. Why had you not made that association between spirit and death and this bird? It swoops upward to curb its flight and, with only a slight, backwards fluttering of wings, settles gently into your outstretched hands. The other fauna watch but do not react.
The bird stares at you, and you at the bird. You sense the bird drawing forth something from within you that is flowing out via your eyes and moving directly into the eyes of the bird. You watch as the bird leaves, but you feel as if you have left and that your mind has stayed behind. A second degree of separation you seem to detect.
The raven soars over the valley, flying high, then flying low, and then flying high again. Its spirit is high. Soon, it makes a direct course for the mountains, for it us driven to try to reach the mountaintop. You no longer watch from the cliff but see everything below through the eyes of the raven. After missing the mountaintop, the raven passes beyond and begins a fast descent toward an ocean which has come into view just after topping the peak. The raven begins to dive lower, and lower, and lower yet.
Suddenly, the spiritual exuberance of the high-flying raven seems to be unraveling into an imminent and deadly crash against the ocean's surface. Following a huge impact one that you take to be the end of you the waters first splash upwards from the collision and then fall back into the ocean.
Ultimately, the waves settle, and the sea surface smoothes to a mirror finish. Suddenly, a bird's head forcefully breaks the surface, but it is not the head of a raven. Instead, the head of a gull the bird of ignorance comes forth, gasping for air. You find that you are no longer observing the gull, but have transitioned into the gull. A third degree of separation from what you had left outside the arch, then by the pool, and now through the raven, has manifested.
The gull surfaces further and then begins flapping its wings. Leaving behind the cleansing, baptismal waters, you in the form of this gull fly and play and dart. You feel like a child again, flying high, until suddenly crashing into an eagle. More truthfully, you feel yourself merging into maybe even dissolving into the eagle. For a time, the eagle soars, glides, and mainly just witnesses. You feel the remnants of the gull; you sense the remains of a raven; you look at you seated at a fire and see only a mental image; you look through the arch and see the figment of a body imagined. Another degree of separation.
But now You the Eagle have no time to contemplate, for you feel yourself being pulled deeper into the universe through a clear-walled tunnel in the remotest part of the heavens. You feel yourself accelerating at the speed of light. In fact, at the end of the tunnel, you can see nothing other than light. Your speed now nearly doubles, and just as you reach that point of mach two, with the deafening sounds of the winds racing by your ears, you crash through a veil of sorts and find yourself in a mostly dark, crystal cave.
You stop abruptly and then are swooped into an upright position, floating near the ceiling of the cave. You feel at this moment as if you are exactly between nowhere and . . . nowhere. Never have you known such peace. Sensing yourself in only the vestige of a human-like form, you drift toward a lake below that covers most of the bottom of this huge cavern. You experience a fifth degree of separation as if estranged from all illusory roles, as if removed from a phony world left behind, as if moving closer to a degree of connection with the Real.
Your slow descent allows time to study the cave. Across the way a dome glows brightly, the source of the vivid light you'd seen through the arch and more recently at the end of the tunnel. A huge pipe organ sounds from the highest peak of a cliff on the far left side of the gigantic grotto. To your left and to your right drift millions of forms, and on closer inspection, You see that they are . . . You! Each looks to be a clone maybe a transparent clone but a clone nevertheless of You!
As You near the water, You automatically pivot so that Your back faces the opposite shore. Sinking shoulder-deep into the water, You feel Your feet rise. Your entire body stiffens momentarily, Your feet rise further, You float onto Your back and then You bob on the surface of the water. Now relaxed, You begin to be moved along, gently propelled toward the opposite side of the cave. Your movements just happen, no effort on Your part required. The music of the organ ethereal and heavenly sounds softly, beautifully; the waters are now calm and warm.
You float with millions of Your likenesses, or so it seems, flowing toward gigantic, granite steps cut amphitheater-like into the opposite wall of the cave. Yet the likenesses aren't likenesses at all. They Really Are You! The steps ascend from underneath the waters, breaking the surface and then rising and narrowing upwards, converging on one point at the door to the dome.
As You near the steps, You feel Your body stiffen again. This time You rotate in the water so that You sail along face down. Just before Your head might have bumped into the steps, You are stopped. Your feet begin to be lowered, and You find yourself in an upright position, standing on steps in chest-high water. You begin to ascend the steps, leaving the water behind. You, and millions of Yous, walk in exactly the same fashion, moving toward the narrowing peak that leads to the door of the dome.
You wonder, How could so many be entering the dome? It really isn't that large, now that I can see it more clearly. It seems that much that You perceived as more is really less. But the nearer You All move toward the door, the more You witness a siphoning effect of sorts.
As All near the door, All seem to dissolve into a form of light being drawn inside. As You approach, You feel the last remnants of whatever You had formerly thought yourself to be gradually fading away. The dissolving seems to be occurring in slow motion, and you feel ecstatic. It's almost as if You are feeling blissful as your beingness seems to be dissolving into non-beingness.
Finally, You merge with the All, into the light, and it seems . . . it seems over. It seems as if everything is over, is finished, is very near complete. Then some degree of consciousness seems to linger after this additional degree of separation fades. Even without a physical body or an earthly mind or a spiritual body, a subtle body detects a series of chambers leading to other universes.
All then fades into light. It is sensed that nothing represented in the vision is the Real. It is understood that only by peeling back all the layers of false identities including the body, the mind, the spiritual identity, the child ignorance, the witness, even the True Self could That Which One Really Is be known. It is understood that what You Really Are Is That, That which is often removed from awareness through many degrees of separation.
In the fading moments, as beingness transitions into non-beingness, You come to know that You Are That common building block of All in this universe, in All universes. No wonder some can say, I don't even know who I am. You finally Realize how far removed most are from the knowledge of the original unicity as a result of conditioning, programming, and dogma.
Then, before fading into the perfect peace of rest in the Totality, Your last consciousness is of the process that had moved That Which You Are from the rest state in the Absolute, past the non-being and into being, and then into whatever that True Self was. You see how you came to witness, how the learned ignorance corrupted the pure consciousness of the child state, how spiritual and religious roles were assigned, how mental identities were accumulated, and how dominated the existence was by the physical body's fears and desires. You KNOW. And then, even that dissolves. THAT is all there is. [ END OF VISION.]

Therefore, another movement or shift is happening here spontaneously after reflecting on the more than two decades since the teachings were first offered here and looking at the results of Maharaj sharing pointers in his loft and looking at the results of "Floyd" sharing pointers in this electronic loft: Looking objectively at his results, Maharaj's satsang method of sharing - in the end and by his own admission (only "one out of 10,000,000") - did not produce the intended outcome.

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part One
A "movement" or "shift" happened here that added another parallel to the many parallels in terms of the phenomenal "experiences" and the noumenal revelations that "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd" share in common. (Many visitors over the years have said that they also shared the same parallels with "Maharaj" and "Floyd" as well.)
In the case of "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd":
1. both grew up in very poor families 2. both moved to populated areas to seek employment opportunities 3. both exhibited business skills that led to their opening and operating many businesses and to their having a large number of employees working for them 4. both succeeded financially 5. both became attached to accumulating; 6. both married and had a family 7. both were initially religious 8. both moved away from organized religion and became interested in "spiritual" matters, finding and following the teachings of a big name teacher (or, in "Floyd's" case, many big name teachers) 9. both had highly religious wives who were quite displeased with the shift away from religion and toward "spirituality" 10. both began to feel empty in spite of all of their "spiritual seeking" and in spite of all of their accumulated "spiritual knowledge";

11. both began to de-accumulate after both saw that they could survive quite well on a fraction of the income they had been making
12. both had wives who were unhappy when the de-accumulation stage was entered and both had wives who became unhappy about their husbands' focus on non-duality and who blamed their unhappiness on no longer having a religious husband
(The facts be known, in both cases the unhappiness involved the fact that their husbands were no longer interested in - or willing - to work 80+ hours per week and that their husbands were no longer interested in accumulating wealth and possessions and providing the rich lifestyle to which their wives had grown accustomed)
13. both eventually came to see that the religious and spiritual states were also ego-states, and both saw that there are far more steps on the "path" to complete after reaching the religious and spiritual steps and after playing those roles which are the third of seven steps on the entire "path" 14. both "lost" their wives (one via "death," the other through divorce); 15. both accelerated their seeking; 16. both entered into the "forest dweller stage" 17. both Realized 18. both began to de-accumulate even more
19. both began sharing the teachings 20. for years, both answered questions in whatever order those questions were received, though both said that the movement from identification with the false "I" / "I's" involved an exact, step-wise manner of moving along a "path" that involved "going back" in the same (but reverse order) of the way they "came in" - that is, the way that the manifestation happened and the way that the consciousness was blocked through seven stages that resulted in their becoming identified solely with their false personas, with the content of the "mind," and eventually, with the body. But the most significant awareness that finally came to both after years of offering satsang and after having answered thousands and thousands of questions was this: After years of "Maharaj" offering satsang in his loft, and after years of "Floyd" offering satsang in meeting halls and in his home and via what one site visitor called "Floyd's electronic loft," this fact became obvious to both: "Maharaj" came to see in the 1970's and into 1980 and 1981 that his approach was not working and "Floyd" finally came to see the same.

21. Both saw that many who heard the teachings are not going to understand (Maharaj reporting that "only 1 in 100,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding)
22. both soon saw that even more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj modifying his "guesstimate" and reporting that "only 1 in 1,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding)
23. eventually both saw that even far more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj eventually concluding that "only 1 in 10,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding). And the failings were not the fault of seekers.
A "one -in-ten-million" estimate is proof that satsang was not working for most seekers, and the evidence here lately is proof of the same.
Both "Maharaj" and "Floyd" invited seekers to focus on the exact, step-wise "path." Yes, during satsang, "Maharaj" sometimes alluded to the steps while discussing them in no particular order - but he never once laid out the steps in the exact order in which they had to be completed. That was not his teachings style or approach.
Looking objectively at the results here when using an "electronic loft" satsang method of sharing has not produced the intended outcome nearly as often as any of the three "face-to-face" methods used with seekers by which they have been led through the seven steps in order.
Here, the body is growing older, of course. Mahasamadhi could be taken today, or it could be taken in twenty years.
Obviously, that cannot be known. But the decision here has been made that whatever amount of the relative existence remains shall be spent in sharing the teachings in the ways that have been seen over the last 20+ years to be the most effective methods.
Looking back over the list of those that have truly received the understanding, it is seen that Robert R. read all of the books, then took the online Advaita course and then completed some face-to-face Skype sessions to receive the final clarifications required. It was seen that Mac read all of the books, completed the online course, and then attended a retreat where he was guided through the seven steps. Mac said that the online course work inspired him to attend the retreat in order to be able to receive the final "pieces." It was seen that Andy Gugar, Jr. read all of the books, then came here for a retreat and was taken through the seven steps in order, and then returned once more for the final clarifications required. After reviewing the shifts that happened with him after attending two retreats, he reaffirmed this past week his commitment to helping spread the non-duality, nisarga understanding as presented here. As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what had not "worked" as well - changes will be made.
SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two
In "Part One," examples were given of seekers that were led to Realization not by satsang but by following the various protocols outlined farther down this page which provide the understanding in the step-wise, orderly, required fashion which moves seekers along a "path" that is as prescribed by Maharaj ... "going back" in the "reverse order" by which the consciousness manifested and became blocked.
However, conversations with some that just read the majority of the books have revealed that they certainly seem to have grasped the understanding and Realized as well.
As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what has "not worked" as well - changes are being made.
There are seven specific steps that happen when awareness-energy is "pulled" into a cycle of manifestation. When that energy manifests as conscious-energy, that formerly pure and unadulterated energy becomes "corrupted" (or "blocked" from seeing clearly) via programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, and brainwashing. Soon, there is a belief in the not-Real as a result of seven degrees of separation from an understanding of the Real.
Using the method that was also employed by his contemporaries - a method which focused on offering non-duality pointers via satsang - Maharaj addressed questions in the order in which they were received. He might receive a question from a seeker at the third step and his reply would include what amounted to an invitation to move to the fourth step. The next question might come from a seeker at the first step, and the reply would include an invitation to move to the second step.
The information offered to the second seeker would seemingly contradict what was offered to the first seeker, so visitors who have come here for decades have asked questions which showed how confused they were by the fact that Maharaj's statements to each visitor in his loft were "level-appropriate" yet were provided in no precise order, resulting in what seemed to be an inconsistent message.
So the process overall was confusing in that
seekers were told to follow the "path back" in the same way that they "came in," except in reverse order,
but
pointers were not given in a specific, step-wise order at all.
Maharaj did recognize the seven steps that are taught here, but by offering the teachings in an order that was dictated by the order in which questions were received from seekers who were at different steps on the "path," the result was this:
a pointer about moving beyond the fourth step might be followed by a pointer about moving beyond the first step, and that pointer might be followed by a pointer about how to move beyond the sixth step.
The same was done on this site for seven years. The result is a collection of 1,800 or so essays discussing almost every non-duality topic that can be discussed, and the search button on the top right side of this page will now allow seekers with a question about a specific topic to find an explanation. That method, however, will never provide the manner in which the seven steps on the "path" must be transmitted and received in order to Realize Fully.
An objective study of the history here of more than twenty years of offering non-duality pointers reveals this: seekers that were given pointers in the exact order in which they needed to receive them were the ones that Realized.
They read the books, then they completed the online course and / or completed seven Skype or telephone sessions or came here for a retreat (or watched the downloadable DVD version of an actual retreat, available below).
Some found that which they were seeking by reading the author's book that deal with non-duality subject matter. Via all of those venues, the steps are taught in their proper order.
The essays available on this site will remain for those interested in searching for a discussion of a particular non-duality topic without charge, but the focus here until mahasamadhi is taken is going to be on offering the teachings in the step-wise fashion that has been seen to work.

This anthology of four books by Floyd Henderson contains the volumes that make up what has been called "The Advanced Seekers' Series" for those seeking Realization via the Advaita teachings
This anthology contains the six books that make up what has been called "The Blissful Abidance Series" for those seeking to live blissfully and happily for the remainder of the manifestation, including these books
This book can be read as a "Stand-Alone eBook" or as a "Companion Piece" or "Follow-Up" to be read after "When Only Three Hours of Manifestation Remain."
The author of this book is also the co-author of a book with Mark Houston entitled "A Twelve-Step Journey to SELF-Transformation"
After having guided over 8,000 people through the Twelve Steps, the focus eventually turned toward working with the few who have been seeking recovery for some time but sense that "there must be something more" or who have said, "I am still not where I want to be." A few - even with double-digit "sobriety" - have said, "I don't want to drink ... I want to die."

[Please note: When the Direct Path Teaching Method is offered in conjunction with the Nisarga Yoga, something unique results when compared to what happens via the approach used by religions, spiritual movements, philosophies, ideologies, etc.:
rather than inviting seekers to learn more, the invitation here is to unlearn all; rather than offerings teachings, what is offered are unteachings; rather than offering to provide seekers more of anything, seekers will find that the process will take away everything. And via that process, the bliss of Your Original Nature will manifest and remain until mahasamadhi is taken.
To that end, the content of this book will seem radical to the seekers of more, but for those truly ready to be totally free and totally independent - and for those who are truly ready to abandon efforts to accumulate and to de-accumulate instead - the pointers in this book might be relevant.]
