A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: THE REST OF THE STORY: An earlier series that introduced the fact that "the journey" actually has three "legs" or parts was an understanding that came after a dream which continued where the vision left off. In that dream, the way that Awareness manifests was seen as Awareness exited into the crystal cave via the door of the dome of light, crossed the cave, exited through the veil into the tunnel, was shot out of the tunnel in the form of the eagle, transformed into a gull and then a raven, entered into manifestation, and moved through the arch and into a human body.
The difference after coming back a second time after Realization? The body left the forest, walked across a field, returned to the same situation it was in prior to the journey to the cave and the dome and beyond, and then continued with the relative existence. But in a totally different way.
That's what happens when the understanding of Reality is overlaid on "reality" ... on the relative existence. That is the third leg of "the journey":
On the first leg, there is the process of moving from Your Original Nature to identification with the body. That "journey" separates persons by seven degrees from an awareness of Awareness and their Original Nature.
On the second leg, the seeker completes the entire "journey" as described in the vision and Realizes. Many seekers stop there, never completing the third leg but living in a kind of "foo-foo world, out there" ... dissociated ... detached from "reality" (from things relative) and forsaking the Am-ness rather than allowing "Applied Advaita" to allow for joy and / or peace to happen spontaneously throughout the remainder of the manifestation.
The third leg is like the first except it happens with full awareness - fully aware of the way that programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing and indoctrination led to a relative existence that was marked and marred by what Maharaj called "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity."
Happening with full awareness, the original "traps" (which persons are subjected to during the initial manifestation) are avoided this time around, allowing the remainder of the manifestation to unfold spontaneously under the auspices of understanding, reason, logic and sanity.
So, revealed through the vision are the three parts of "the journey" (the three legs, if you will), all of which are required for Realization and natural abidance. There are also, however, several other groups of three in the vision that can reveal more about non-duality if their meaning and symbolism are understood:
there are three birds;
there are three types of "bodies" that represent three stages of shifting beyond the influence of programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, brainwashing and indoctrination;
there are three states in which the energy functions: prior to consciousness, during the manifestation of consciousness, and then once again unmanifested / not manifested; and
there are three levels that must be transcended to complete the "going back, the reversing" including the unblocking of the consciousness, reaching "the borderline" that Maharaj spoke of, and then "crossing over."
So, to begin, let's look at what the three birds can reveal about the non-dual understanding. After awakening fully following the vision, a rough overview of the vision's content was written quickly and sketchily so that it would not be lost as happened with Coleridge and his vision that would be laid out only partially in "Kubla Khan."
[According to Coleridge's Preface to "Kubla Khan," the poem was composed one night after he experienced a drug-induced dream that came following the reading of a work describing Xanadu, the summer palace of the Mongol ruler and Emperor of China Kublai Khan. Upon waking, Coleridge set about writing the lines of poetry that came to him from the dream until he was interrupted by a person visiting from Porlock. The poem could not be completed according to its original 200–300 line plan as the interruption caused Coleridge to forget the lines. Knowing that, I determined that it would not happen. A knock at my door (later determined to have been by the condominium's jack-of-all-trades, Manuel) was ignored, and the overview of the vision was on paper. Then, I moved to the computer and began fleshing out more of the details that were still fresh, then immediately adding more details that came with a second and third and fourth reading of the script containing the vision. At that point, the focus was on recalling and recording concrete details only, reproducing as many specific elements of the vision as possible. There was no clue at all at that point about what the vision meant. There was only a sense that the content had the potential to reveal something significant that I had been trying to understand for years. When clarity via the vision began to come, it came not at once but over a period of days and weeks as more and more of the messages contained therein were considered in the silence. Even more understanding came with the dream referenced above that provided clarity around the "third leg" of "the journey" that is required. Additional research gave more clarity first to the message of the three birds and then much, much more later on.]
As with many people, there was already a general understanding of some of the symbolism of the three birds. The raven was known to be associated with the concept of "death" (from Poe's "Raven" and the bird's haunting repetition of "nevermore");
From the term "being gulled," there was a sense that the gull symbolized ignorance ... not knowing; and the eagle was known for being a sharp and keen and clear observer that could see far more than any average human and that had a sharper focus and more accurate perception than any human or animal on the planet. It was known that, when on a quest, the eagle can dive at speeds of 125–200 miles per hour.
But even after the research, the entire message behind the three birds was not clear. The "seven-step path" had most certainly not been revealed at that point. So questioning began: "Why did a body stay outside the arch?"
This from the vision was reconsidered: Stepping inside, you look over your shoulder to see that your physical body has remained outside the arch. You sense some degree of separation from the material.
Then this was asked: "What was the body that was walking through trees and across water? Certainly that could not be a physical body."
So these three parts of the vision were reconsidered: When you turn to see where the arch has led, you notice that the spring waters have suddenly multiplied into a slow-moving stream
and
Trees line either side of the stream, and you begin walking through them toward the sounds of the water crashing below. Astonished, you noticed that you are literally walking through the trees
and
As you near the edge of the cliff, you walk across the top of the water, not becoming wet at all.
Then there was the query: "What's the deal with the raven, and what is transferred from the body by the fire, and what is the deal with the raven ending and manifesting as a gull; and then what is the significance of the gull crashing into an eagle and becoming ... that?"
Now, a pause for you to consider. Are You understanding something about the message being revealed through the symbolism of the three birds?
To be continued.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: [Continued from yesterday]
First, you will are invited to read the vision; to know that it made no sense after it first came; to understand that its message "hit like a lightning bolt" that brought the light and the explosive force that blasted away the final obstructions and blockages; that beyond its basic revelations regarding the non-dual teachings, many other more subtle parts of the teachings were only seen and recognized over a period of days and weeks and months; and that the entire three-legged journey can be understood by you now - with no more long and arduous seeking required - if you understand what the vision reveals.
THE VISION, Completed
Trees line either side of the stream, and you begin walking through them toward the sounds of the water crashing below. Astonished, you noticed that you are literally walking through the trees. As you progress, fauna of several species join you: a black bear rubs against your leg in the manner of a docile house cat; a cougar does the same on the opposite side, and each playfully swats at the other as if to proclaim dominion over both of your legs; a lamb skips along ahead as a heron brings up the rear. He walks as if on stilts, taking more time than needed, looking rather judgmentally, it seems, at the wasting of energy by his peers.
As you near the edge of the cliff, you walk across the top of the water, not becoming wet at all; your new companions either lead or follow. As you approach the left side of the plateau, the animals nudge you toward a winding walkway of sorts, cut from the stone side of the cliff naturally, definitely not made by man. After swinging down and around and back to your right, you find yourself on a level piece of ground jutting out from the side of the cliff. You see that a pond is overflowing, part of its waters cascading down the cliff side and pooling in another flat below.
That same pattern repeats itself until the waters reach a level valley. You watch the falling waters eventually form a river that winds its way across the desert basin. Along the river has sprung up a variety of shade trees. All else appears brown and dry. Then in the far distance, hills grow into mountains. In the forefront arise huge columns of stone, cathedral-like, forming spires of varying shapes and heights. The colors vibrate with life, offering images of the blues and oranges and browns and beiges like those of Venetian palazzos when reflected in the waters of the Grand Canal.
In the far distance to the left stand even grander mountain ranges. Puffy clouds float slowly across the sky. You focus attention on a fire burning next to the pool, and you feel yourself being nudged there by the bear, nudged in a very persuasive way. Then, from behind the cougar lifts its front paws onto your shoulders, forcing you into a cross-legged, seated position before the campfire. Finally, all four animals form a semi-circle around you, from your left side, behind you, and to your right.
Looking at the animals quizzically, you notice that each is focusing on an object in the distance. Allowing your eyes to follow the path of theirs, see a bird of some kind flying directly at you, drawing nearer by the second. Its speed accelerates as it moves dart-like across the skies, aimed at your chest like an avian arrow. Yet you feel very calm.
As the bird approaches closer and closer, you extend your arms and, with the sides of your hands touching and your palms up, you form a landing area for the fowl. A raven, the bird of death that comes from the spiritual realm, now slows as it approaches even nearer. Why had you not made that association between spirit and death and this bird? It swoops upward to curb its flight and, with only a slight, backwards fluttering of wings, settles gently into your outstretched hands. The other fauna watch but do not react.
The bird stares at you, and you at the bird. You sense the bird drawing forth something from within you that is flowing out via your eyes and moving directly into the eyes of the bird. You watch as the bird leaves, but you feel as if you have left and that your mind has stayed behind. A second degree of separation you seem to detect.
The raven soars over the valley, flying high, then flying low, and then flying high again. Its spirit is high. Soon, it makes a direct course for the mountains, for it us driven to try to reach the mountaintop. You no longer watch from the cliff but see everything below through the eyes of the raven. After missing the mountaintop, the raven passes beyond and begins a fast descent toward an ocean which has come into view just after topping the peak. The raven begins to dive lower, and lower, and lower yet.
Suddenly, the spiritual exuberance of the high-flying raven seems to be unraveling into an imminent and deadly crash against the ocean's surface. Following a huge impact one that you take to be the end of you the waters first splash upwards from the collision and then fall back into the ocean.
Ultimately, the waves settle, and the sea surface smoothes to a mirror finish. Suddenly, a bird's head forcefully breaks the surface, but it is not the head of a raven. Instead, the head of a gull the bird of ignorance comes forth, gasping for air. You find that you are no longer observing the gull, but have transitioned into the gull. A third degree of separation from what you had left outside the arch, then by the pool, and now through the raven, has manifested.
The gull surfaces further and then begins flapping its wings. Leaving behind the cleansing, baptismal waters, you in the form of this gull fly and play and dart. You feel like a child again, flying high, until suddenly crashing into an eagle. More truthfully, you feel yourself merging into maybe even dissolving into the eagle. For a time, the eagle soars, glides, and mainly just witnesses. You feel the remnants of the gull; you sense the remains of a raven; you look at you seated at a fire and see only a mental image; you look through the arch and see the figment of a body imagined. Another degree of separation.
But now You the Eagle have no time to contemplate, for you feel yourself being pulled deeper into the universe through a clear-walled tunnel in the remotest part of the heavens. You feel yourself accelerating at the speed of light. In fact, at the end of the tunnel, you can see nothing other than light. Your speed now nearly doubles, and just as you reach that point of mach two, with the deafening sounds of the winds racing by your ears, you crash through a veil of sorts and find yourself in a mostly dark, crystal cave.
You stop abruptly and then are swooped into an upright position, floating near the ceiling of the cave. You feel at this moment as if you are exactly between nowhere and . . . nowhere. Never have you known such peace. Sensing yourself in only the vestige of a human-like form, you drift toward a lake below that covers most of the bottom of this huge cavern. You experience a fifth degree of separation as if estranged from all illusory roles, as if removed from a phony world left behind, as if moving closer to a degree of connection with the Real.
Your slow descent allows time to study the cave. Across the way a dome glows brightly, the source of the vivid light you'd seen through the arch and more recently at the end of the tunnel. A huge pipe organ sounds from the highest peak of a cliff on the far left side of the gigantic grotto. To your left and to your right drift millions of forms, and on closer inspection, You see that they are . . . You! Each looks to be a clone maybe a transparent clone but a clone nevertheless of You!
As You near the water, You automatically pivot so that Your back faces the opposite shore. Sinking shoulder-deep into the water, You feel Your feet rise. Your entire body stiffens momentarily, Your feet rise further, You float onto Your back and then You bob on the surface of the water. Now relaxed, You begin to be moved along, gently propelled toward the opposite side of the cave. Your movements just happen, no effort on Your part required. The music of the organ ethereal and heavenly sounds softly, beautifully; the waters are now calm and warm.
You float with millions of Your likenesses, or so it seems, flowing toward gigantic, granite steps cut amphitheater-like into the opposite wall of the cave. Yet the likenesses aren't likenesses at all. They Really Are You! The steps ascend from underneath the waters, breaking the surface and then rising and narrowing upwards, converging on one point at the door to the dome.
As You near the steps, You feel Your body stiffen again. This time You rotate in the water so that You sail along face down. Just before Your head might have bumped into the steps, You are stopped. Your feet begin to be lowered, and You find yourself in an upright position, standing on steps in chest-high water. You begin to ascend the steps, leaving the water behind. You, and millions of Yous, walk in exactly the same fashion, moving toward the narrowing peak that leads to the door of the dome.
You wonder, How could so many be entering the dome? It really isn't that large, now that I can see it more clearly. It seems that much that You perceived as more is really less. But the nearer You All move toward the door, the more You witness a siphoning effect of sorts.
As All near the door, All seem to dissolve into a form of light being drawn inside. As You approach, You feel the last remnants of whatever You had formerly thought yourself to be gradually fading away. The dissolving seems to be occurring in slow motion, and you feel ecstatic. It's almost as if You are feeling blissful as your beingness seems to be dissolving into non-beingness.
Finally, You merge with the All, into the light, and it seems . . . it seems over. It seems as if everything is over, is finished, is very near complete. Then some degree of consciousness seems to linger after this additional degree of separation fades. Even without a physical body or an earthly mind or a spiritual body, a subtle body detects a series of chambers leading to other universes.
All then fades into light. It is sensed that nothing represented in the vision is the Real. It is understood that only by peeling back all the layers of false identities including the body, the mind, the spiritual identity, the child ignorance, the witness, even the True Self could That Which One Really Is be known. It is understood that what You Really Are Is That, That which is often removed from awareness through many degrees of separation.
In the fading moments, as beingness transitions into non-beingness, You come to know that You Are That common building block of All in this universe, in All universes. No wonder some can say, I don't even know who I am. You finally Realize how far removed most are from the knowledge of the original unicity as a result of conditioning, programming, and dogma.
Then, before fading into the perfect peace of rest in the Totality, Your last consciousness is of the process that had moved That Which You Are from the rest state in the Absolute, past the non-being and into being, and then into whatever that True Self was. You see how you came to witness, how the learned ignorance corrupted the pure consciousness of the child state, how spiritual and religious roles were assigned, how mental identities were accumulated, and how dominated the existence was by the physical body's fears and desires. You KNOW. And then, even that dissolves. THAT is all there is. [ END OF VISION.]
To be continued.
Please enter the silence of contemplation.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Those familiar with "the journey" here know
1. that it was far too long and far too arduous; and
2. that it is a self-deception of the highest order to use the dismissive, rationalizing, justifying statement, "I had to do everything I did."
A recent train wreck in New York has left the tracks blocked; they will remain that way for a period. Eventually, someone will have to come along and unblock the tracks if the journey from upstate to Manhattan is to be completed. The passengers who were involved in the train wreck cannot clear the tracks themselves.
They were totally involved in the train wreck, first hand, but they will only know after investigation what caused the train wreck and the blockage that must be cleared.
The same applies to persons whose relative existence has become a train wreck:
Programming and conditioning and acculturation and domestication have left them blocked ... blocked from seeing truth ... from seeing reality ... and from seeing Reality.
They will remain that way for a period (or for an entire manifestation).
If they are to complete the journey, someone will have to come along and unblock the obstruction (in their case, their minds) because they are constantly involved in their own train wreck and they cannot clear the obstructions themselves.
Specifically, they are totally involved in a train-wreck-of-an-existence, first hand, but they will only know after investigation what caused the wreck and the blockage and what all must be cleared away.
Those familiar with "the journey" here also know that
a. the stage was set early on to rebel against the programming, conditioning, etc.;
b. that persons in authority eventually quelled the rebellion; and
c. that the quelled rebellion blocked authenticity and blocked knowing the True Self and functioning thereas;
The familiar also know
d. that the subconscious drive to escape from the frustrating sense of separation from Self - from the exasperating and maddening sense of being blocked from the Authentic Self - took a serious toll;
e. that exposure to hundreds and hundreds of sources - including all of what Maharaj disparagingly called "the Big Name Teachers" who are to be avoided - did nothing to remove the blockage;
f. that finding the words of Maharaj began to remove the blockages somewhat (especially after exposure to the later non-religious, non-spiritual, purer Nisargan talks);
g. that even the pointers received from Maharaj did not remove the blockages (but did set the stage for turning back finally to the inner resource, the inner guru, that had been pointing out the culture's BS from early on); and
h. set the stage to receive the inner vision that revealed the three-leg journey (1) to manifestation and then (2) to Realization and then (3) back to reality with Reality overlaid upon it which has allowed for a sane and natural abidance, post-Realization, after having completed the third leg.
[You may use the search tool at the upper right to find the full explanation of the three-legged journey and see why the path of the masses - like those train tracks in New York this morning - are blocked and preventing completion of "the journey." The fact: the non-Realized masses only complete one leg of the three-leg journey so they will never Realize and they will never abide sanely. So it is.]
So Maharaj set the stage for the vision that eventually revealed the functioning of the totality and the understanding that unblocked all of the former obstacles and obstructions to seeing Truth and reality and Reality.
Over the next few days, you will be invited to read the vision; to know that it made no sense after it first came; to understand that its message "hit like a lightning bolt" that brought the light and the explosive force that blasted away the final obstructions and blockages;
that beyond its basic revelations regarding the non-dual teachings, many other more subtle parts of the teachings were only seen and recognized over a period of days and weeks and months of re-reading the vision;
and that the entire three-legged journey can be understood by you now - with no more long and arduous seeking required - if you understand what the vision reveals.
So, now, the vision. As you read it, please set aside time to sit in the quiet and contemplate the content and see if any further understanding comes regarding the way that You moved into the relative existence on the first leg;
the way that the seeker must "go back" and "reverse" and return the same way that You came; how the third leg allows for Reality to be overlaid on the relative;
and how that allows for the remainder of the relative existence to happen as Your Original Nature and with an absence of the "ignorance, stupidity and insanity" that Maharaj said marks and mars the relative existence as experienced by the non-Realized masses.
THE VISION
Envision yourself standing at one end of an open field in a very remote area. At the far end of the field is the edge of a forest. See yourself moving across the field and toward the woods. As you walk closer to the edge of the forest, see a gap in the trees that allows clear access to a trail.
Follow that path through the woods, noticing the sounds along the way. Walk until you reach the side of a small creek bed. Turn to the right and see yourself walking along the bank of a branch, one of those small, usually V-shaped mini-gorges, cut into the ground ten to twelve feet at its deepest, not as much by rainwater as by constantly flowing springs that surface from below.
Observe an emerald-green moss that covers the walls and the bed; it seems to shine with a luminescence in spite of the fact that the thickness of the overhead foliage prevents much sunlight from striking the creek bed or the sides of the chasm. The earthen walls look rough-edged, for stones jut out all along the way, their tips exposed by years of erosion. Colors typical of the region come into view along the way: earth-tones, rust-colors, and sometimes blackness, but always brightened by the ever-present grayish and fluorescent-green moss.
As you parallel the edge of the creek on the beginning of this journey, see yourself reaching a place where the land slopes sharply, and the watery swath cut into the earth follows the oblique contour of the land. Next to the slanting branch rests a series of natural, sandstone steps descending to a granite arch twice the height of a human. From the arch shines a pure white light.
An illumination this bright should easily blind you, but instead it soothes you. It seems to spotlight the steps, and as you move down the stones, first your feet and then your legs and then your torso become bathed in the glow. Eventually, by the time you reach the dead-flat area at the bottom of the natural walkway, you stand before the arch, and the luxuriance of the light baths you fully in its warmth. The clear spring waters from the branch flow through the archway, and you follow.
Stepping inside, you look over your shoulder to see that your physical body has remained outside the arch. You sense some degree of separation from the material. When you turn to see where the arch has led, you notice that the spring waters have suddenly multiplied into a slow-moving stream. The stream runs the length of a plateau and then cascades over the edge at the far end. You will soon see that the waters drop from the highland and then flow, in waterfall fashion, down the cliff side and into a pool some twenty feet below.
To be continued.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
Too, there are what psychologists call "unprocessed memories," the residue of usually traumatic events that come into consciousness far less often than samskaras - if at all - but that subconsciously drive thoughts and words and actions in what are (relatively speaking) the most destructive and self-defeating and harmful ways imaginable.
What are called here "Implanted Non-Memories" are not memories of events or happenings that actually occurred but are recollections rooted in "learned ignorance." Beginning in childhood, humans are taught in the home and in school a plethora of lies and falsehoods that amount to nothing more than historical fiction which nevertheless generate a set of beliefs that can be recalled / remembered throughout an entire relative existence and that can be taken to be "truth and reality" instead of being seen for the delusions and lies and misrepresentations that they are.
What is called "American History" is taught to expose children to the supposedly greatness and uniqueness of their nation. So-called "heroes" - such as Christopher Columbus - are honored in texts, with statues, with parades, and with holidays.
Nevermind that Columbus enslaved and killed millions of the indigenous peoples in what was arrogantly called "The New World" (as opposed to the Europeans' "older world"?) Documents discovered by Spanish historians in 2005 reveal that - in response to "native unrest and revolt - Columbus ordered a brutal crackdown in which many natives were killed" and "in an attempt to deter further rebellion, Columbus ordered their dismembered bodies to be paraded through the streets."
In the U.S. nowadays, these are the common perspectives based in implanted non-memories:
mass-murderer Hitler: not good.
mass-murderer Columbus: good.
The notion of "implanted non-memories" (which are nevertheless remembered and which nevertheless drive the thoughts and words and deeds of billions upon billions of non-Realized persons) was addressed in an essay that was written in a college English class in 1965. I entitled it, "How Good Were The 'Good Ole Days,' Really?"
It is they who speak of the "good ole days" though they were not even around in those days. They are lusting over myths of "better times" in "bygone days" as if they actually have a memory of those days. They do not. They do not have a clue what those days were like, and typically, far more hardship was faced "then" than "now."
They have no memory of "those days." They have stored within one area of their brains the lies and distortions that glorify periods in history that were far from glorious (except to them when reviewed in light of their earlier-implanted deceptions, their implanted non-memories, and their present-day prejudices which are rooted in their deception-based beliefs).
In the U.S., those types hark back to "This Nation's Brilliant, Wonderful Founders" who were supposedly "wise enough to write a constitution that is as relevant today as it was when it was written more than 225 years ago." Really? Or might that belief - as is the case with all beliefs - be pure nonsense?
Consider the beliefs about the relevancy of that old document as another example to illustrate the earlier point that "lies and falsehoods that amount to nothing more than historical fiction generate a set of beliefs that can be recalled / remembered throughout an entire relative existence and that can be taken to be 'truth and reality' instead of being seen for the delusions and lies and misrepresentations that they are."
In 2011 in the U.S. when the right and far-right conservatives made significant gains in mid-term elections, they rode into office on a wave of xenophobic, super-patriotic, emotional intoxication. Their first act was to declare that they were going to take to the floor of Congress and read - out loud - "the entire constitution, to remind all that the supremely-perfect document must remain supreme and must be used (a.k.a. manipulated) to guide the every thought and word and action of all people in this nation."
So if the document was indeed supremely perfect, why did they leave out parts of the Constitution during that most-public reading? Why did they read a "redacted" version of that supposedly perfect document? Why did many eventually call their cover-up "a constitutional whitewash"?
What parts of that so-called "supremely-perfect document" that is supposed to be the final word in all things "American" were not read in public? They ignored ...
1. the part that said "in the United States of America," which is considered to be a constitutional, democratic republic where majority rules, "women and blacks cannot vote." They ignored ...
2. (into addition to the part that said only males could vote) that it was really only white males who could vote. They ignored ...
3. (into addition to the part that said only white males age 21 or older could vote) the part that further restricted the right to vote to property owners only (a restriction that some holding public office nowadays are suggesting should be restored). They ignored ...
4. the part that said males could be drafted into the army to fight and die for their country but that the constitutional established voting rights only for males over the age of 21. They ignored ...
5. the part that said, even though this is a democracy, the federal government passed the 18th Amendment which prohibited the rights of all U.S. citizens to make or buy alcoholic beverages. They ignored ...
6. certain parts about taxation. They ignored ...
7. the part defending the right to own slaves ... to actually own humans beings as if they were chattel. They ignored ...
8. the part that classified slaves as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of census-taking to determine congressional apportionment and taxation.
So a group of white, propertied men who have been dead for two centuries, who knew nothing of what the U.S. culture would be like in its present state, acted illegally under existing law and thought that it was fine to own slaves, to deny women the right to vote, and to restrict the right to vote in this so-called "democracy" to rich property owners.
These are now the same people suggesting that the "ole days" were much better and claiming that "we need to take our country back."
Have the people who are presently touting the supremacy of a document written by "This Nation's Brilliant, Wonderful Founders" experienced anything that led to their having "first-hand" memories of events? Of course not. They are functioning under the auspices of their learned ignorance which has implanted non-memories that now seem to be very real to them.
They speak of the better, bygones days as if they had been there and as if they actually know what the relative existence was like.
Consider: If you were to realize that someone you trusted implicitly and unreservedly has been lying to you not just today but throughout every day of your existence, would you not "break relationship" with that person?
Yet that is what your parents and teachers and political and religious leaders did to you. And now, that is what your mind is doing to you after having been filled by "them" with the nonsense that comes with programming, conditioning, acculturation, domestication, brainwashing, and indoctrination.
Is it not time to "break relationship with your mind"? With the memories stored therein? With the xenophobic nonsense stored therein? With all things personal and personality-oriented stored therein? With the fiction-based memories stored therein? With the false "implanted non-memories" stored therein?
Implanted non-memories are far more distorted that samskaras and, therefore, result in far more delusion and distortion and in a sense of separation and a hierarchical sense of different-from-ment and better-than-men.
The non-dualist is aware of all of the chaos and discontentment that result when mental impressions, residual impressions, unprocessed memories, and implanted non-memories end up driving the totally delusional members of an entire population.
Please enter the silence of contemplation.

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: Salvador Dalà was a Spanish painter who had an interest in (1) Eastern philosophy and (2) science and (3) revelations from the scientific community that supported the non-dual teachings (à la Maharaj).
Both this work and a later companion piece provide a review (or possibly an even deeper grasp) of the pointers regarding "memory" and "time" which non-dualists offer:
1. There is no reality to "memory," and "memories" are not based in reality. All memory - and all things perceived / misperceived via the mythical concept of "time" - are distortions.
2. All things misperceived originally are also misperceptions when supposedly "recalled."
3. There is a bizarre duality to all things associated with memory, including
a. the fact that conceptualized time must seem to be at play; and
b. the fact that neither time nor impressions can be deterministic.
4. What Dalà illustrated - and what any Realized non-dualist understands - is that memory involves images which are the stuff of dreams and which are not associated at all with the waking consciousness state.
5. He showed that the "persistence" of the concepts of "time" and of "memories" (which are "clocked" in "time") actually persists only in dreams or in the eyes / mind of a dreamer ... that is, one not awake.
In his paintings that dealt at least in part with exposing the bogus nature of duality, Dalà mocked dualistic concepts through his use of such juxtapositions as the duality of "hardness" vs. "softness."
The melting watches - symbolizing a rejection of the concept of "time" - serve as non-duality pointers which illustrate the fact that there is nothing solid about time as well as the fact that time can have no deterministic power or sway or influence on anyone or anything because it is - like the memories that persist in "time" - a dreamed up concept, a distortion, a misperception (all of which is alluded to via DalÃ's surrealistic style).
[Note: The surrealistic style uses fantastic imagery and incongruous juxtapositions to offer images that are dreamlike or that have an unreal quality in order to provide an opportunity for viewers / witnesses to see what is unreal in order to differentiate between that which is Real and that which is unreal.]
He shows that space and time and memories are all "relative" concepts (further emphasized by the fact that the creature appearing in the center of the painting is obviously in a dream state, suggesting that memories are tantamount to dreams ... not reality at all).
The ants on the orange clock suggest decay, pointing not only to the scientific fact but also to the non-dual understanding which are both expressed in the Second Law of Thermodynamics, namely, that nothing "visible" or "see-able" in what persons take to be "this world" can last, can "stay together."
The message was expanded in his companion piece entitled
"The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory":
A. All things relative disintegrate. So, how could the "memory" of something relative be integrated into Reality? It cannot.
B. Nothing that was directly or indirectly "bound before" will be "bound now" or "bound later." Non-dualists - as did Dalà - understand the Second Law of Thermodynamics:
(1) all that comes together will come apart;
(2) nothing relative lasts;
(3) if nothing relative lasts, then whatever relative things or events were perceived to have been a certain way could not have been that way at all;
(4) therefore, whatever relative things or events can supposedly be recalled again via "a permanent memory" could not have been the way they are presently being perceived via "memory" either;
(4) nothing that was totally transient could have been real; and
(5) nothing that was totally transient - and therefore not real - could have provided what is taken now to be a valid "lasting memory;" so
(6) the "memory" cannot now be real, either.
C. Because all that comes together will come apart, and since nothing relative lasts, nothing that was perceived to be the way it was during the relative and in "the past" can be real / true (i.e., nothing is the way it was perceived to be "in the past").
Note in the second painting that the olive tree is breaking apart, things are dissolving, and things are disintegrating. Note too that Dalà included a series of launched missiles as a reminder that humankind has reached a point which it can even disintegrate itself with nuclear arms.
DalÃ's understanding is the same as that of the non-dualist: both are aware of the fact that
(a) nothing in the relative is as it appears to be at the surface level and that
(b) it was at the misperceived surface level where inaccurate memories (based in inaccurate perceptions that were erroneous in the first place) were formed.
Dalà also understood, as does the non-dualist, that the atoms which make up matter do not touch. (Note the hands of the watch in the second painting. They are now floating above the face of the watch ... not touching ... "separated from.")
With that, Dalà offered the final pointer discussed today: the condition of believing in separation, in memories, and in time are just some of the many perceptions (i.e., misperceptions and beliefs) that most among the masses will cling to throughout the relative existence.

F.: Salvador Dalà was a Spanish painter who had an interest in (1) Eastern philosophy and (2) science and (3) revelations from the scientific community that supported the non-dual teachings (à la Maharaj).
One painting in the body of his artwork is entitled "The Persistence of Memory" in which he addressed the non-dual understanding regarding "time" and "memories"
"The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory":
In that work, he reinforces other non-dual pointers:
(1) all that comes together will come apart;
(2) nothing relative lasts;
(3) if nothing relative lasts, then whatever relative things or events were perceived to have been a certain way could not have been that way at all;
(4) therefore, whatever relative things or events can supposedly be recalled again via "a permanent memory" could not have been the way they are presently being perceived via "memory" either;

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: [Offered yesterday]: So how do memories drive emotional intoxication in the present? Maharaj taught: "The main point to grasp is that you have projected onto yourself a world of your own imagination, based on memories, on desires and fears, and that you have imprisoned yourself in it. Break the spell and be free."
Take for example a cousin of mine who watched his mother lie in bed and suffer the excruciating pain of bone cancer for years. As an adult now, each time his wife has become ill, he overreacts in the most drastic manner. (While some of her illnesses - such as antibiotic-requiring infections - are based in fact, she is a Personality Type Two who suffers the Factitious Disorder. For her, the attention-on-her-alone visits to a doctor are a highlight of her day. For people to come swarming and focus on her alone reinforces her behavior, creating a "payoff" for sickness.)
What that cousin does not see is that his reactions are not rooted in the present experiences of his spouse but are rooted in the memory-based beliefs of a child. His conclusion at that time was that her eventual death was the most tragic event that had ever occurred.
The fact: she begged for death; when the visiting physician suggested that her remaining days could probably be numbered with two digits or less, she relished the possibility that an end to her misery and suffering was imminent.
Yet the child had a far different perception that would engender far different perspectives around illness and "death" for the remainder of his relative existence, and those mental impressions formed early on still drive his thoughts and words and actions and fears around such concepts as "loss," "death" and what is "good" and what is "bad."
F.: [To continue] In consciousness, all is duality. Consciousness permits being conscious of, and conscious-of-ness involves something being conscious of something else - that is, subject-object witnessing.
(In Awareness, by contrast, the unicity is Realized because it is Awareness that is aware of ItSelf, not of a separate object, and Awareness knows that all is That Awareness and that there can be no separation or duality or "other object"; thus, the True Self is not "The Witness" but is merely the Pure Witnessing that happens beyond the baser level of subject-object witnessing which is practiced among the non-Realized.)
That cousin's relative experience was subsumed with duality, so the perception - which became a lasting, mental impression - was that his mother's death was "bad" and that her continuing to live in pain and misery would have been "good" and certainly far better than her dying.
(Do you see the ego and egotism and "self"-ish-ness at play in that scenario? The implication is that he would have preferred that she live and suffer rather than die and cause him to lose his identity of "The Good and Caring and Concerned and Loving Son.")
That twisted, duality-based impression - like all impressions - is still driving his thoughts and words and actions decades later but on a subconscious level that he is totally unaware of.
So his current experience is a combination of reactions to "past" and "present" experiences whereby the way he feels is still being controlled by the way that someone else feels (a.k.a., "co-dependency").
Moreover, he does not have a clue about the way an old, duality-based-and-therefore-false impression is determining his present condition and "state of mind" and trapping him in a perpetual state of emotional intoxication around a second woman's illnesses ... be they actual or perceived.
[In fact, it may well be that a repetition compulsion attracted him to a sickly type whom he could eventually marry so that he can be "The Rescuer" and can bring about a different, "good" outcome in the second scenario involving a sick woman in his life and whose sickness can help give him an identity which can - this time - "succeed".]
Today, the misperception, that what his mom accepted as "good" but what he determined was "bad," is adumbrated in even the slightest hint of sickness in his wife. He is walking on eggshells, abiding with a constant cloud of anxiety hanging over his beingness and a never-ending sense of "waiting for the next shoe to drop" (that is, anticipating her next call saying, "You must come immediately! I am sick!")
Regarding his taxing relative existence, consider these points from Maharaj:
"Experience leaves only memories behind and adds to the burden which is heavy enough"
and
"If you could only keep quiet, clear of memories and expectations, you would be able to discern the beautiful pattern of events. It is your restlessness that causes chaos."
See the peace-bringing shift in perspective that can come when a distorted memory is discarded as "the way it really was"? That which freed a cousin's mother of misery and pain and suffering was not a "tragic event" (as he saw it) but was instead a "beautiful event" to be welcomed by all as much as it was welcomed by her.
Yet it is the totality of his delusion-based memories, which are all rooted in misperception, which seemingly supports his false sense of continuity ... a sense that he - personally - was and is ... a sense that who he thinks is really has existed as that person for nearly sixty-five years.
The contrary fact is this, as Maharaj explained:
"The person is a very small thing. Actually it is a composite; it cannot be said to exist by itself. Unperceived, it is just not there. It is but the shadow of the mind, the sum total of memories."
For the sake of their false concepts about personhood and continuity, however, persons cling to their memories in order to give credibility to their belief that there was a past and that their past was exactly as it had been perceived to be in the past. They desperately want that false sense of "somethingness" as opposed to accepting the peace-filled understanding of the Void:
Q: "What will remain with me if I let go my memories?"
M: "Nothing will remain."
That is the fear of even the not-yet-Realized seeker (that becoming the identity-less "nothing" is a "negative") yet that is also the solution to fear, for it is memories that distort the present with veils of obscurity and a shroud of darkness.
Maharaj's solution to this dilemma? Understand this:
"Having seen that you are a bundle of memories held together by attachment, step out and look from the outside. You may perceive for the first time something which is not memory. You cease to be a Mr-so-and-so, busy about his own affairs. You are at last at peace. You realize that nothing was ever wrong with the world — you alone were wrong and now it is all over. Never again will you be caught in the meshes of desire born of ignorance"
and
"The experience of being empty, uncluttered by memories and expectations; it is like the happiness of open spaces, of being young, of having all the time and energy for doing things, for discovery, for adventure"
and
"Accept no guidance but from within, and even then, sift out all memories for they will mislead you."

A DAILY CONSIDERATION FOR YOU
F.: "Samskaras" are mental impressions, memories (a.k.a., "vasana": "residual impressions"). All mental impressions are bogus for they are perceived via the warped consciousness that cannot see clearly as a result of blockages; moreover, all memories are bogus for that reason and for this one as well:
The Realized abide in the Now, in the moment, freed of the delusions of the concepts of "past" and "present." Because all memories have nothing to do with NOW, they must have been formed in the pre-Realization days, and in the pre-Realization days, nothing was seen clearly, nothing was perceived accurately, and nothing was understood totally.
Therefore, any memory of anything in the past (in pre-Realization periods) must - by default - be a memory that is unclear, that is a misperception, that is rooted in misunderstanding, and that is a false impression.
Maharaj has this to say on the subject: "Onto the screen of the mind destiny forever projects its pictures, memories of former projections and thus illusion constantly renews itself. The pictures come and go — light intercepted by ignorance. See the light and disregard the picture."
Any memory registered by a fiction-filled mind and by things perceived erroneously must also be fiction and must also be erroneous. Some claim, "But I am experiencing the memory now!"
First, there is no "one" to experience anything. Secondly, what did Maharaj say in that regard?
M.: "We consider memories only when they come into the present. The forgotten is not counted until one is reminded which implies bringing into the now."
Yet can a bogus belief or idea or notion or impression from that past that is brought into the now suddenly and miraculously be not-bogus? No, for the memories were based in imaginings.
M.: "Imagination based on memories is unreal."
See, all of that is about things subjective, not objective. Objective information follows analysis. Objective information is fact-based, measurable and observable. Subjective information, on the other hand, is based on personal opinions, interpretations, points of view, emotions and judgment.
Maharaj explained it most accurately in this exchange:
M.: "Everything is subjective, but the real is objective."
Questioner: "In what sense?"
M: "It does not depend on memories and expectations, desires and fears, likes and dislikes. All is seen as it is."
I have been told: "You are as involved with memory as anyone. You remember the teachings; you remember how you came to understanding and tell others about that."
Maharaj would clarified that erroneous conclusion this way: "In realization there is nothing to hold on to and nothing to forget. Everything is known, nothing is remembered"
and
"I am free of memories and anticipations, unconcerned with what I am and what I am not."
Next, it is the handicap called "the mind" that sets the stage for its content (including bogus nonsense and learned ignorance) to serve as the habitat of personalities; they, in turn, determine all thoughts and words and actions according to their divergent - and usually contradictory and conflicting - agendas.
The mind is filled with beliefs, and it is only via the abandonment of all beliefs that clarity and stability and freedom and peace can come (a.k.a., a state of "zero concepts" and no-minded-ness). When memories of past events (which are always based in misperceptions) are stored therein, they shall curse the present.
So how do memories drive emotional intoxication in the present? Maharaj taught: "The main point to grasp is that you have projected onto yourself a world of your own imagination, based on memories, on desires and fears, and that you have imprisoned yourself in it. Break the spell and be free."

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part One
A "movement" or "shift" happened here that added another parallel to the many parallels in terms of the phenomenal "experiences" and the noumenal revelations that "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd" share in common. (Many visitors over the years have said that they also shared the same parallels with "Maharaj" and "Floyd" as well.)
In the case of "Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj" and "Floyd":
1. both grew up in very poor families 2. both moved to populated areas to seek employment opportunities 3. both exhibited business skills that led to their opening and operating many businesses and to their having a large number of employees working for them 4. both succeeded financially 5. both became attached to accumulating; 6. both married and had a family 7. both were initially religious 8. both moved away from organized religion and became interested in "spiritual" matters, finding and following the teachings of a big name teacher (or, in "Floyd's" case, many big name teachers) 9. both had highly religious wives who were quite displeased with the shift away from religion and toward "spirituality" 10. both began to feel empty in spite of all of their "spiritual seeking" and in spite of all of their accumulated "spiritual knowledge";

11. both began to de-accumulate after both saw that they could survive quite well on a fraction of the income they had been making
12. both had wives who were unhappy when the de-accumulation stage was entered and both had wives who became unhappy about their husbands' focus on non-duality and who blamed their unhappiness on no longer having a religious husband
(The facts be known, in both cases the unhappiness involved the fact that their husbands were no longer interested in - or willing - to work 80+ hours per week and that their husbands were no longer interested in accumulating wealth and possessions and providing the rich lifestyle to which their wives had grown accustomed)
13. both eventually came to see that the religious and spiritual states were also ego-states, and both saw that there are far more steps on the "path" to complete after reaching the religious and spiritual steps and after playing those roles which are the third of seven steps on the entire "path" 14. both "lost" their wives (one via "death," the other through divorce); 15. both accelerated their seeking; 16. both entered into the "forest dweller stage" 17. both Realized 18. both began to de-accumulate even more
19. both began sharing the teachings 20. for years, both answered questions in whatever order those questions were received, though both said that the movement from identification with the false "I" / "I's" involved an exact, step-wise manner of moving along a "path" that involved "going back" in the same (but reverse order) of the way they "came in" - that is, the way that the manifestation happened and the way that the consciousness was blocked through seven stages that resulted in their becoming identified solely with their false personas, with the content of the "mind," and eventually, with the body. But the most significant awareness that finally came to both after years of offering satsang and after having answered thousands and thousands of questions was this: After years of "Maharaj" offering satsang in his loft, and after years of "Floyd" offering satsang in meeting halls and in his home and via what one site visitor called "Floyd's electronic loft," this fact became obvious to both: "Maharaj" came to see in the 1970's and into 1980 and 1981 that his approach was not working and "Floyd" finally came to see the same.

21. Both saw that many who heard the teachings are not going to understand (Maharaj reporting that "only 1 in 100,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding)
22. both soon saw that even more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj modifying his "guesstimate" and reporting that "only 1 in 1,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding)
23. eventually both saw that even far more than expected of those who heard the teachings were not going to understand (Maharaj eventually concluding that "only 1 in 10,000,000 are going to 'get' this" understanding). And the failings were not the fault of seekers.
A "one -in-ten-million" estimate is proof that satsang was not working for most seekers, and the evidence here lately is proof of the same.
Both "Maharaj" and "Floyd" invited seekers to focus on the exact, step-wise "path." Yes, during satsang, "Maharaj" sometimes alluded to the steps while discussing them in no particular order - but he never once laid out the steps in the exact order in which they had to be completed. That was not his teachings style or approach.
Therefore, another movement or shift is happening here spontaneously after reflecting on the more than two decades since the teachings were first offered here and looking at the results of Maharaj sharing pointers in his loft and looking at the results of "Floyd" sharing pointers in this electronic loft: Looking objectively at his results, Maharaj's satsang method of sharing - in the end and by his own admission (only "one out of 10,000,000") - did not produce the intended outcome.
Looking objectively at the results here when using an "electronic loft" satsang method of sharing has not produced the intended outcome nearly as often as any of the three "face-to-face" methods used with seekers by which they have been led through the seven steps in order.
Here, the body is growing older, of course. Mahasamadhi could be taken today, or it could be taken in twenty years.
Obviously, that cannot be known. But the decision here has been made that whatever amount of the relative existence remains shall be spent in sharing the teachings in the ways that have been seen over the last 20+ years to be the most effective methods.
Looking back over the list of those that have truly received the understanding, it is seen that Robert R. read all of the books, then took the online Advaita course and then completed some face-to-face Skype sessions to receive the final clarifications required. It was seen that Mac read all of the books, completed the online course, and then attended a retreat where he was guided through the seven steps. Mac said that the online course work inspired him to attend the retreat in order to be able to receive the final "pieces." It was seen that Andy Gugar, Jr. read all of the books, then came here for a retreat and was taken through the seven steps in order, and then returned once more for the final clarifications required. After reviewing the shifts that happened with him after attending two retreats, he reaffirmed this past week his commitment to helping spread the non-duality, nisarga understanding as presented here. As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what had not "worked" as well - changes will be made.
SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two

SHIFTING THE FOCUS FROM THAT WHICH DOES NOT WORK TO THAT WHICH DOES, Part Two
In "Part One," examples were given of seekers that were led to Realization not by satsang but by following the various protocols outlined farther down this page which provide the understanding in the step-wise, orderly, required fashion which moves seekers along a "path" that is as prescribed by Maharaj ... "going back" in the "reverse order" by which the consciousness manifested and became blocked.
However, conversations with some that just read the majority of the books have revealed that they certainly seem to have grasped the understanding and Realized as well.
As a result of seeing what has "worked" during the last 20+ years of sharing the non-duality understanding - and seeing what has "not worked" as well - changes are being made.
There are seven specific steps that happen when awareness-energy is "pulled" into a cycle of manifestation. When that energy manifests as conscious-energy, that formerly pure and unadulterated energy becomes "corrupted" (or "blocked" from seeing clearly) via programming, conditioning, domestication, acculturation, and brainwashing. Soon, there is a belief in the not-Real as a result of seven degrees of separation from an understanding of the Real.
Using the method that was also employed by his contemporaries - a method which focused on offering non-duality pointers via satsang - Maharaj addressed questions in the order in which they were received. He might receive a question from a seeker at the third step and his reply would include what amounted to an invitation to move to the fourth step. The next question might come from a seeker at the first step, and the reply would include an invitation to move to the second step.
The information offered to the second seeker would seemingly contradict what was offered to the first seeker, so visitors who have come here for decades have asked questions which showed how confused they were by the fact that Maharaj's statements to each visitor in his loft were "level-appropriate" yet were provided in no precise order, resulting in what seemed to be an inconsistent message.
So the process overall was confusing in that
seekers were told to follow the "path back" in the same way that they "came in," except in reverse order,
but
pointers were not given in a specific, step-wise order at all.
Maharaj did recognize the seven steps that are taught here, but by offering the teachings in an order that was dictated by the order in which questions were received from seekers who were at different steps on the "path," the result was this:
a pointer about moving beyond the fourth step might be followed by a pointer about moving beyond the first step, and that pointer might be followed by a pointer about how to move beyond the sixth step.
The same was done on this site for seven years. The result is a collection of 1,800 or so essays discussing almost every non-duality topic that can be discussed, and the search button on the top right side of this page will now allow seekers with a question about a specific topic to find an explanation. That method, however, will never provide the manner in which the seven steps on the "path" must be transmitted and received in order to Realize Fully.
An objective study of the history here of more than twenty years of offering non-duality pointers reveals this: seekers that were given pointers in the exact order in which they needed to receive them were the ones that Realized.
They read the books, then they completed the online course and / or completed seven Skype or telephone sessions or came here for a retreat (or watched the downloadable DVD version of an actual retreat, available below).
Some found that which they were seeking by reading the author's book that deal with non-duality subject matter. Via all of those venues, the steps are taught in their proper order.
The essays available on this site will remain for those interested in searching for a discussion of a particular non-duality topic without charge, but the focus here until mahasamadhi is taken is going to be on offering the teachings in the step-wise fashion that has been seen to work.

This anthology of four books by Floyd Henderson contains the volumes that make up what has been called "The Advanced Seekers' Series" for those seeking Realization via the Advaita teachings
This anthology contains the six books that make up what has been called "The Blissful Abidance Series" for those seeking to live blissfully and happily for the remainder of the manifestation, including these books
This book can be read as a "Stand-Alone eBook" or as a "Companion Piece" or "Follow-Up" to be read after "When Only Three Hours of Manifestation Remain."
The author of this book is also the co-author of a book with Mark Houston entitled "A Twelve-Step Journey to SELF-Transformation"
After having guided over 8,000 people through the Twelve Steps, the focus eventually turned toward working with the few who have been seeking recovery for some time but sense that "there must be something more" or who have said, "I am still not where I want to be." A few - even with double-digit "sobriety" - have said, "I don't want to drink ... I want to die."

[Please note: When the Direct Path Teaching Method is offered in conjunction with the Nisarga Yoga, something unique results when compared to what happens via the approach used by religions, spiritual movements, philosophies, ideologies, etc.:
rather than inviting seekers to learn more, the invitation here is to unlearn all; rather than offerings teachings, what is offered are unteachings; rather than offering to provide seekers more of anything, seekers will find that the process will take away everything. And via that process, the bliss of Your Original Nature will manifest and remain until mahasamadhi is taken.
To that end, the content of this book will seem radical to the seekers of more, but for those truly ready to be totally free and totally independent - and for those who are truly ready to abandon efforts to accumulate and to de-accumulate instead - the pointers in this book might be relevant.]
