Those that visit this site regularly understand that children early on develop nine basic personality types which all individuals show. [Search this site for "enneagram" for further explanation.] By the age of six and from then on throughout adulthood, persons are already suffering from the Multiple Personality Disorder.
They develop early on a primary personality type, secondary personality types, "wings" to their primary types, etc. and then they begin either integrating the other nine types or (more often) begin disintegrating into other types, all to greater or lesser degrees.

If trauma or abuse happens, then children fixate and psychic development stops; as a result, they end up with a few types with greater influence while the other types stop manifesting and developing.
If a Type Six develops an attachment disorder (which is becoming more and more common all around the globe) then they will also develop a high Type Eight (The Boss, The Controller, The Fighter, The Combative Type and, in extreme cases, the Sociopath and / or the Psychopath).
More than 50% of all persons on the planet are Type Sixes who typically connect to the Type Three (the type capable of exhibiting narcissism to a major degree) or to the Type Eight or Nine. The result: with 50% set up to become trapped in that scenario, then more and more narcissists are coming into being.
Those who do not understand the workings of the mind - and the specific personality disorders which are manifesting and evidencing themselves - then (as far as the relative AM-ness is concerned), they are in as much danger as those women who accepted a date with serial killer Ted Bundy.
Shared earlier was a quote from Alexander Pope who cautioned that "a little learning is a dangerous thing." While the deal here is about un-learning, Maharaj would probably have agreed that a little understanding of personality and personality disorders is a dangerous thing (realistically - not noumenally - speaking).
In the end, unnatural and supposedly supernatural / magical thinking and living are both rooted in the mind, and stored in the mind are all of the assigned and assumed personality identifications which are adopted by persons and which generate the personality disorders which always come via personality.
Those that visit this site regularly also understand that for hundreds of thousands of years and longer, the ancestors of humans functioned with a brain that was about one cup in size. That brain was incapable of developing a mind. As humans and their brains evolved, the brain reached an adult size of around three-and-a-half cups. At that point, sections formed which were capable of storing information and retrieving information, a development which was intended to assist with the survival of the human species. It worked quite well for a time.
Later, the "asset mind" degenerated into a complete liability because, after language developed, nonsense began to be spoken and persons who heard nonsense believed nonsense. Once the brain reached that point of being capable of being fooled, then natural abidance happened far less than unnatural abidance and supernatural abidance.
When duality began to dominate the conversation with talk about being different from and therefore better than, then fear-inspiring and hate-inspiring concepts began to dominate human beliefs, and whatever beliefs are present will dominate and determine what words are spoken and what actions are taken.
The result? The mind eventually "turned" on the owner the same way that pit bulls have been known to attack their owners and the same way that two of those dogs only a few miles away from this house recently killed an owner's infant child.

Of all of the pointers that Maharaj offered over the years, the ones most rooted in wisdom and Love actually amounted to "warnings": if you think this way, this will be the result; if you talk that way, this will be the result; if you are driven to behave that way, this will be the result.
[Regarding a pointer Maharaj had just offered, one questioner asked: "Is it a threat?"
Maharaj replied, "Not a threat, a warning."]
The rub with those among the masses is that - once the Ultimate Sickness has been passed down to them - then they will be so asleep and so naive and so controlled by foolishness that they become capable of being charmed by a sociopath or a psychopath and will ignore anyone who comes along and offers the kind of warnings which Maharaj offered.
[And be not fooled: narcissists and sociopaths and psychopaths can appear to be the most charming people on the planet. Thus, the point offered here: It is not that love is blind. It is actually color blind, incapable of seeing all of the red flags that were flying all along. That is why persons reach a point where they scream at a mate as they are leaving, "I don't even know who you are!" Uhh . . . bingo. Uhh . . . spot on.]
For example, consider the way that most perceived a serial killer called Ted Bundy. Here are some of the facts available about Bundy on the internet:
Theodore Robert Bundy (born Theodore Robert Cowell on November 24, 1946 and died by electrocution on January 24, 1989) was an American serial killer, kidnapper, rapist, burglar, and necrophile who assaulted and murdered numerous young women and girls during the 1970s, and possibly earlier. Shortly before his execution, after more than a decade of denials, he confessed to thirty homicides committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978. The true victim count remains unknown, but law enforcement officials suggest that the total was much higher.
Some examples of the foolishness of those charmed by Bundy include these:
Writer Ann Rule, after certain truths about Bundy were coming to light but before all of the truth about Ted Bundy had come out, was spending time with Bundy and was warned by a Seattle homicide detective, “Just be careful. Maybe we'd better know where to find your dental records in case we need to identify you." She ignored the warning, but she said that the darkness of that warning stayed with her and may have prevented her from becoming another of Bundy's victims.
Elizabeth Loftus, who was so fooled by Bundy that she testified in his behalf at his trial for aggravated kidnapping, said: “In court the next morning I sat at a table in the judge’s chambers. On the other side of the table, close enough for me to reach across and touch him, sat Ted Bundy. 'He’s adorable,' I thought, surprised at my first impression, because I’d pictured him in my mind as brooding and dark."
How foolish must one have to be to allow an initial awareness of a person's "brooding and dark" nature to shift as the result of a "positive impression" based in appearance only? Humans who are suffering from the Ultimate Sickness have an amazing capacity to deny truth and to twist the reality of what is being exhibited before their very eyes and then spin the darkest facts into bright, positive illusions.
So the considerations are these:
1. Is the case that there are certain sociopathic and psychopathic citizens or business people or politicians who are so skilled that they can fool even the wisest persons on the planet? If so, imagine how easily they can fool the ignorant.
2. Or, is the case that there are certain sociopathic and psychopathic citizens or business people or politicians who can tap into the already-present-foolishness which drives the masses when they are suffering from the effects of the Ultimate Sickness?
The ones who want to fool people succeed when, first, they find people who are already being driven by their foolishness.
Once persons have been exposed to the Ultimate Sickness and once its symptoms have taken hold over their thoughts and words and actions, then the only way to avoid being fooled constantly is to find . . . a different perspective.
Discussed in some detail in a variety of posts is the way that The Pendulum of the Planet is forever swinging between dualistic extremes such as darkness and lightness, financial stability and financial chaos, plagues and diseases on the rise vs. diseases in abatement, etc. Nowadays, the planet once more is in a duality-based racial swing and the pendulum has swung so far in one direction that there is a tolerance among millions to express openly the love of one's skin color and the hatred of "the other," of others with a different skin color.
In the U.S., there were times when the hatred was in full view; at other times, political correctness moved the spewing of racial hatred into the closet or into bars or around dining tables or in living rooms. Now it is out in the open again, mainly due to a national political platform which endorsed that concept openly.
Persons (i.e., the "non-realized," those - per Maharaj - still "trapped in learned ignorance") and also trapped in near-unlimited levels of arrogance and egotism, prefer mirror images of themselves; therefore, those trapped in the symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness which Maharaj identified as "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity" typically gravitate to persons who are also suffering from and sharing their "ignorance, stupidity, and insanity."
Some others are merely unaware or shallow and superficial or driven by the urgings of the limbic brain and go for the one who "looks good" or "sounds good" to them at the time, having no ability to see the personality disorders which are driving a person and the words which are attracting them.
Around the globe, more and more dictators are emerging and forming relationships with each other. One leader has been especially vocal in praising those types, revealing that he is lusting over their ability to incarcerate or kill at will any who challenge him.
Now some are discussing the high levels of narcissism behind that attitude, but fewer understand the more serious personality disorders at play in all dictators or would-be dictators, specifically, their sociopathic and psychopathic disorders.
Like the women who were attracted to Ted Bundy's looks and words and who were subsequently raped and killed and then raped again after he had killed them, those who lack the ability to spot extreme narcissism and what is called here the "malignant narcissism" of sociopaths and psychopaths, the little understanding that they have about personality and personality disorders can come back like a human boomerang and slice them open.
The sages for ages have warned about personality not for their dislike of personality identifications per se but for the fact that personality sets the stage for the development of personality disorders, neuroses, and psychoses which, in turn, set the stage for the manifestation of the consequences of the actions which personality disorders generate.
Most importantly to this discussion is the fact that no personality identifications and their accompanying disorders can exist alongside natural abidance.
Everything that personalities and their disorders generate is either unnatural or supernatural.
If persons unlearn all that they have been taught and eliminate all which is blocking clear seeing and a proper perspective, then the relevance of Pope's suggestion that "a little learning is a dangerous thing" will end. Why? Because when abiding naturally, one will automatically and spontaneously move away from all that is not natural.
[When "floyd" was at the height of his duality-driven insanity, he - in his craziness - would automatically and spontaneously find the craziest woman in the bar that night to go home with: "Oh yeah, there's going to be a hot time in the ole town tonight!" Once freed from the grip of family-and-culturally-induced insanity, then any and all attraction to insanity automatically and spontaneously ended.
Maharaj: "Insanity is universal. Sanity is rare. Yet there is hope, because the moment we perceive our insanity, we are on the way to sanity. This is the function of the Guru — to make us see the madness of our daily living. Life makes you conscious, but the teacher makes you aware."
Not to make us see some Supreme Self or Infinite Self? No. To make us see our madness.]
Either "ignorance or stupidity or insanity" alone can drive one to be attracted to - and then go on a "blind" date with - a narcissist, a sociopath, or a psychopath and then conclude that it would be "a good idea" to hook up with that person again and to get into relationship with that person and to commit to that person and to put one's life and well-being in that person's hands. Imagine, therefore, what persons can be driven to do when all three of those symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness are at play.
Whether on a two-party level (with one naive person being attracted to a narcissist or sociopath or psychopath) or on a multi-million-person level (with millions of persons being attracted to a narcissist or sociopath or psychopath), a most undesirable end result will eventually manifest.
Nowadays, the power of dictators or would-be dictators in Venezuela, Syria, the Philippines, Angola, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, China, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Algeria, and the U.S. are expanding, and there are presently 49 ruthless, sociopathic and psychopathic dictators in charge of nations around the globe with other national leaders around who would work their way into that same position of authority which they are longing for at this very moment.
History shows that such types do not take power as much as it is given to them by the masses in their nations whose thoughts and words and actions are being driven by the symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness. Maharaj was not discussing in his loft mere inconsequential issues which "really only had some noumenal import"; he was addressing issues which he understood had global import then and which have global import now.
Again . . .
"This is the function of the Guru — to make us see the madness of our daily living."
That's about the relative existence, NOW, not about some "noumenal existence" later.
