RECOGNIZING PREVIOUSLY-HIDDEN PERSONALITY DISORDERS WHICH ACCOMPANY THE ASSUMPTION OF PERSONALITY IDENTIFICATIONS
Earlier:
The case if that persons may often respond to warning signs in the physical realm but can ignore warning signs in the mental, psychological realm.
Personality disorders which come with the assignment and assumption of personality identifications are at the root of neuroses and psychoses and insanity which are all part and parcel of the Ultimate Sickness, and the widespread ignorance about those disorders is at the root of humankind’s misery and suffering because their warning signs are usually not even seen, must less ignored.
To that end, the upcoming posts will offer additional information about the disorders discussed so that the interested might react to mental and emotional issues as readily as they do to warning signs of physical problems and say of their previously-hidden personality disorders, “Oh my gosh! Look at those symptoms. I have many of those! I need to seek treatment for that condition that I see now I’d had for many, many years.”
Today, we’ll look in more detail at the Borderline Personality Disorder.
This disorder stands alone today in its discussion because it has become so widespread. Therapists from across the U.S. to Sydney, Australia and to points in between in Western Europe have all shared with me the dramatic uptick in the number of cases of the Borderline Personality Disorder which they are seeing among the clients in their practices.
That means an uptick is happening in the number of cases of alter egos being assumed and in the number of cases of the Dissociative Identity Disorder.
An alter ego is defined as “a person's secondary or alternative personality” or “a second self or different version of oneself.”
Of course, those familiar with non-duality’s take on personality identifications are aware that in a period of a few years, persons can be assigned or can assume scores of false identities. Some might remember Dave who made a list after leaving a retreat here and he was able to list over eighty false identities assumed in a matter of years.
Some identities can be forfeited voluntarily as happened with a neighbor who recently stopped playing the role of “cashier in a department store” and assumed the role of “postal carrier.”
Other identities can be stripped away involuntary. In those cases, prepare for chaos because a typical reaction to having an identity taken away involuntarily is violence.
For example, in the gun-prevalent culture of the U.S., when “the wife” comes to “the husband” and says “I’m leaving,” that event triggers a reaction which accounts for 59% of the women killed in the U.S. annually.
When “the employer” says “you’re fired” to “the employee,” shootings and mass shootings are often the result.
More alter egos are also manifesting nowadays when one extremist becomes the “hero” or “heroine” of another extremist. In the cases of mass shooting around the globe, it is often seen that the more recent mass killers have left behind a "manifesto" praising a previous mass killer whose persona he has assumed or mimicked. The more recent killer assumed the identity of the earlier killer and has become that person’s “alter ego” or "second self."
The more-prevalent-than-ever Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) was previously known as the Multiple Personality Disorder or in the vernacular as “split personality.” (It is not synonymous with the Schizophrenic or Schizoid Personality Disorders.)
It is a condition in which two or more distinct identities or personality states or ego-states are present in - and alternately take control of - an individual. Some might recall the book Sybil which introduced to the public a woman who per some counts had up to seventeen "alters." Some questioned her veracity, but the reality of D.I.D. is now established.
When I was updating the information available on the current cases of D.I.D., one therapist being interviewed said that she is currently treating a woman with five distinct identities.
Again, non-dualists understand that most persons on the planet are being driven by the hidden agendas of scores of personality identifications, but the case with D.I.D. is that it renders those suffering from that disorder to be totally out of touch with reality to the point that one identity can say to a spouse, “I love you, Sweetheart,” only to have another identity scream fifteen minutes later, I hate your friggin’ guts!”
Moreover, when someone points out the plethora of contradictions coming out of their mouths, they haven’t a clue what their partner or therapist is talking about.
Personality identifications leave persons out of touch with reality, depending on which hidden agenda of which role is being played at that moment and is inspiring a person’s thoughts and words and actions at any given moment.
In an argument, someone abiding under the influence of the kinds of personality identifications which non-duality can address might point out the recent contradictions of a person being driven by the agenda of certain false identities (“mother,” “spouse,” “Christian,” etc.) and can recall both an earlier statement being brought up and can recall the subsequent statement which contradicts it and might say, “Well, I didn’t mean that when I said I loved you and I really want you to leave right now.”
Those with D.I.D., on the other hand, can typically be totally unaware of what “Identity X” said earlier.
With personality identifications, the roles can be active concurrently and the words inspired by the agenda of any given role can more often than not be recalled and discussed.
With dissociative identities, however, they can function autonomously and can bring with them Dissociative Amnesia Disorders and / or De-realization Disorders. In such cases, an identity can inspire a statement without the other identities ever being conscious of the statement.
A person driven by the agendas of “the mother,” “the spouse,” and the Christian” is well aware of the fact that those roles are being assumed whereas, with D.I.D., one identity can be totally unaware of any other identities which are all going through cycles of being active or dormant throughout a day.
Should you share a common roof with a person with D.I.D., as I did in a former marriage for years, one might conclude “never a dull moment” whereas another might conclude, “never a moment of peace.”
All disruption of peace - be it in a family, in a city, in a state, in a nation, or internationally - involves personality identifications, but when D.I.D. is in the mix, an unparalleled level of disharmony is guaranteed to manifest.
To illustrate, I wondered in the evening when I return home and parked my car and walked towards the door to the house if I was going to be greeted on the other side by “Mrs. Hug” or “Mrs. Slug”; by the wild “let’s swing from the chandelier party person” or by “the cold, uptight, rigid religious fanatic” who started showing up in the marriage years after the “I do’s” had been said;
or by the one assuming the identity of a caring, friendly neighbor or by the judgmental one who went after the people two doors down like an attack dog because they were not mowing their lawn frequently enough.
Bottom line: with D.I.D., it’s a bitch for the one with the illness as well as for the ones around those with the illness.
So today,
THE BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER
Previously this consideration was shared:
The sages have discussed the negative impact of personality on the relative existence for ages. Is it any wonder why, after having seen the results of ego-defense mechanisms and personality defects that always accompany the assignment or assumption of personality? The final disorder to be discussed is:
Because persons with the Borderline Personality Disorder (a.k.a., the Emotionally-Unstable Personality Disorder) are constantly idealizing and then diminishing other persons - and constantly upgrading and downgrading other persons - then this disorder reinforces duality in those types as much as (or sometimes even more than) any other disorder. Those with the Borderline Personality Disorder practice “psychological splitting,” a reference to the borderline's inability to hold consistently any thoughts or feelings or beliefs about oneself or others.
What they supposedly "love" one minute, they can - and will - hate the next, inspiring those around them to conclude that they are "the most unpredictable person I've ever known" or "the most unstable person I've ever met."
Their typical pattern is this: they usually see only "the positives" in the beginning, but then later they will focus on the negative attributes of persons, so they are driven by a set of beliefs that have no cohesiveness. (Can that not be one description of persons trapped in the belief of duality?)
All personality types produce emotional intoxication and emotional instability, but as the alternate name - "the Emotionally-Unstable Personality Disorder" - suggests borderlines can be among the most unstable of all unstable persons. It is not as if their shift from a positive view of someone develops to a negative view of that person after spending a long period of time with that person. It can happen instantly.
While the non-duality teachings invite seekers to abide as the Original State which is totally stable - being mindless, persona-less, and identity-less as it is - those with the Borderline Personality Disorder are totally out of touch with that Original State of Reality and, therefore, are presently out of touch with steadiness and constancy as well (especially including being out of touch with mental and emotional stability).
When this now-more-commonplace-than-ever disorder is driving thoughts and words and deeds (which happen to align with the thoughts and words and actions of the non-Realized), then persons will find it difficult to distinguish between reality and their own misperceptions of the world and their surrounding environment.
They will be trapped in a state of emotional intoxication that is as debilitating as it is among those who are physically intoxicated and who are staggering about in a stupor while thinking that they are actually fully aware and totally in control;
instead, they are trapped in the dream of the planet and are walking and talking and driving and working - and doing everything they do - in their sleep. One core problem with persons who suffer from the now-common Borderline Disorder is their difficulty with expressing appropriate feelings (and their inability to be totally "available") to significant people in their lives.
[As has been discussed in more detail in other works by the author, there are entire cultures where persons are especially cold and incapable of feeling and where parents are excessively rigid and distant and formal and remote and detached and aloof; those are the parents who have never said "I love you" to their own children even once and who have never hugged their children even once; who teach their children to keep a stiff upper lip; who never show their feelings; and who do not allow their children to show their feelings, either. Repression, and the consequences thereof, are prevalent throughout such cultures.]
Eventually, as the Borderline Disorder progresses, there can be a shift beyond being driven by emotional intoxication and becoming enraged, distrustful, and fearful. Extreme instability - especially of the mental and emotional variety - becomes commonplace among these types.
Thus, the author asks this question regularly of seekers that visit: Is it becoming clear why sages for ages have recommended to seekers that they take the steps to be free of personality? The "goal" of non-duality pointers is always to move persons to a state of independence and stability, freed of all identification, including identification with the body and the mind and the personalities that generate chaos and the desire to control. That can never happen as long as personality remains and is subconsciously driving all thoughts and words and actions.
The teachings might temporarily offer some degree of "emotion regulation" as the seeker moves along the path, but in the end, belief in and attachment to ego-states - to false personalities which generate emotional intoxication - must be eliminated. That includes the ego-states that some take to be the "good" ones as well as the ones that cultures call the "bad" ones.
As long as any personas are assumed to be real, then all of the negative effects of personality disorders (relatively speaking) will manifest and will assure an existence dominated by fluctuation, by chaos, by a desire to control, and by the frustration that comes when efforts to control people, places, and things fail . . . as will always, ultimately, be the case.
When the Borderline Personality Disorder is driving thoughts and words and actions, then persons will find it difficult to distinguish between reality and their own misperceptions of the world and their surrounding environment.
After having seen the results of the personality disorders that follow the development of personality, and after having seen the relative effects of the assignment or assumption of personalities / personas as identities, is it not clear why the invitation here is to at least "go back" as far as "The Child Ignorance Stage" / "The Child No-Knowing State" and then abide in a manner that is free of concepts and beliefs, free of a fiction-filled "mind," and free of the personalities that are at the root of all of the ignorance and chaos and mental disorders and insanity that plague the relative existence on this planet?
Only then can one return to that earlier state of happiness that allowed for the enjoyment of unconditional happiness (as long as the most basic needs of food and clothing and shelter were met).
Meanwhile, “realization” is not nearly-enough in some cases where certain disorders requires the skill set of trained professionals to try to address the issue. And even then, relief may be evasive, never to be found.
To be continued.

Here, with those who are still driven to talk about "god," the "Son of god," the "Holy Spirit," "Buddha," "Krishna," etc., etc., etc., the invitation to them is to view those as verbs, not nouns.
THE EXPLANATION
If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."
The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.
"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."
Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:
"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"
--Yeshu'a (Jesus)
and
"Heaven and earth shall fade away."
--Yeshu'a (Jesus)
and
"Heaven and hell are not geographic places
but are states of mind, nothing more than
concepts dreamed up by men."
--Pope John Paul II
"There is no hell."
--Pope Francis, the current pope
in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,
a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record
teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.
[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.
And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?
Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?
The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)
With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.
The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
