WHY THE NON-REALIZED THINK, TALK, EMOTE, AND BEHAVE AS THEY DO, Part Six

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

F.: [The functioning of the Realized teacher, continued from yesterday] Realized teachers must have first seen that, prior to Realization, they were thinking and talking and emoting and behaving in ways that evidenced ignorance often and even near-insanity occasionally.

Such teachers must have seen that, by mirroring the thoughts and words and deeds of the masses, the result was instability and a fluctuation between periods of happiness and periods of unhappiness, the latter often reaching levels of misery and suffering and chaos.

Such teachers had to begin a search for relief, and that search may well have taken them down many long and winding roads, along many paths, into multiple venues, through enough texts to build a small private library, to the feet of various guides or sponsors or authors or speakers (both famous and / or infamous or hardly known) until they found themselves, or found the True Self, in the presence of an unblocked speck of consciousness that happened to speak.

They had to come to understand the chain of causes behind the ignorance of the masses, they had to see that their own ignorance was no different, and they had to receive level-appropriate pointers that could guide them back...back in the same way by which they came...

...back in the exact reverse order through the seven specific steps by which the consciousness manifested and was corrupted and blocked to the point where they finally exclaimed, "I don't even know who I am anymore."

Then they had to travel that "path" in reverse, all the way to its end, seeing all that they are not; finding that which they presently are; understanding the functioning of the totality while no longer having to "know";

understanding how the consciousness becomes blocked and how those blockages can be removed; abandoning attachment to all blockages, reaching a state where reality has been overlaid on the relative; and thereafter abiding spontaneously in a sane and sound and reasonable manner.

In the case of the Nirsagan, that manner is the natural manner, not an unnatural or supernatural manner. Then, the teacher (now just a speck of unblocked consciousness) can share with seekers a series of pointers that show the way back, that show the way (but in reverse order) along the same "path" that brings persons into a state of distortion and delusion and "I" identity...the reverse "path" being the one that leads away from ignorance and ego and egotism.

Does that mean that the Realized teacher anticipates that the ignorance and egotism that is observable on a global basis can be alleviated on a mass basis? Not at all. The pointers are offered without attachment to outcome, and if an awakening is to happen, it will be on the basis of one or a very few seekers at a time, never to thousands seated in an auditorium. There is no delusion that more than a few on the planet will ever be Realized at any given time.

A few, as expected, were taken aback by some of the pointers offered in the exchange between Louise and Floyd yesterday. To clarify: is the Realized teacher's message that "Love is the tool that ends personality disorders and insanity"? No.

Is the Realized teacher's message that Love triggers some kind of transubstantiation that makes egotism and disorders and insanity and ignorant thoughts and words and deeds into something to be "tolerated" and even "acceptable"?

Hardly. The Realized teacher's message is that all ego and egotism and disorders and insanity and ignorant thoughts and words and deeds are to be seen and then adandoned if the bliss is to happen for the remainder of the manifestation.

[For those with that belief, that Love among the Realized can and will bring about universal harmony, then you are invited to re-read Louise's comments yesterday when she addressed the common confusion around "cause" and "effect."

To drop a drop of drinking water into a salt-water ocean will never make that ocean's water drinkable. Seven thousand drops cannot purify a contaminated pool of seven billion drops. That might be an emotionally-comforting belief, but in the end it is still a belief, and all beliefs are false.]

Maharaj said, "Love is knowing that I am everything and wisdom is knowing that I am nothing." Did that understanding of Real Love lead that speck of consciousness called "Maharaj" into a state of unconditional acceptance of the behavior of certain persons who entered the loft and who, identified with their various ego-states which inspired the manifestation of egotism, tried to cast the spotlight on their various false selves?

Hardly. It is not within the providence of the eventually re-purified and unblocked consciousness to accept the blocked consciousness, to pamper it, to coddle it, or to indulge it. To do so would be to pamper, coddle, and indulge that which is blocking the consciousness from seeing purely, namely, the content of the mind:

concepts, ideas, beliefs, attitudes, assumed personalities / false identities, ad infinitum. All of those are mirages that the Realized teacher will reveal to be mirages if a seeker exhibits the readiness to see.

If the seeker is not ready, the teacher's continued sharing would be a disservice to the cause of Realization. That is why those who were tossed from the loft were tossed: they were not ready, and their ego / egotism, if tolerated, would only interfere with the presentation of salient pointers to those specks that might be ready.

And if total readiness is not manifest? In some cases, the teacher will offer certain pointers that might prepare the seeker, but if resistance is firmly entrenched, then the offerings will end and the seeker will be invited to move on.

The teacher knows that the seeker might or might not reach a state of readiness at some later point, but when the lack of readiness is seen, dismissal is the only logical and practical approach. So it is.

"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.
