F.: [Continued from yesterday] It was reaffirmed last week that no one here has any desire at all, much less a desire that persons use one particular yoga, religion, ideology, support group, spiritual group, or philosophy to find what they seek.
In fact, most will never seek the Ultimate Medicine, Realization, the Truth, or an understanding of the functioning of the totality, and there is no opinion here about that, either. That is merely the way it is.
What has also been shown in this series, however, is how the typical messages offered by the various forms of yoga and religions and ideologies and support groups and spiritual groups and philosophies all foster dependency, co-dependency, and / or substitute dependencies, save one.
All, save one, encourage adoption of "The Child" persona, teaching that you are to (a) submit to the authority of this text or that; or that you must (b) accept that "you are the child and he is the father";
or that you are (c) needy and require an outer power or resource to guide you and help you; or that, no matter your age, you (d) do not have all of the provisions required to move through the entire relative existence independently.
Of the dreaming up of such authority and the assumption of "The Child" role, no matter one's chronological age, Maharaj said: "God...is supposed to have created the world and thus it starts - fears, religions, prayers, sacrifices, all sorts of systems - all to protect and support the child-man, frightened out of his wits by monsters of his own making."
All, save one, suggest that you live childishly and supernaturally, seeking supernatural power or supernatural messages or supernatural texts to face and process totally natural events. All, save one, suggest you not function in an "adult mode" but that you adopt, and stay trapped in, the "child" mode that submits to authority, including...
...either the authority of supposedly "holy" words and texts or the authority of other-world entities or the authority of preachers or priests or imams or rabbis or ayatollahs or big name teachers or life coaches or gurus or guides or sponsors, ad infinitum.
Here, once again, it matters not at all whether you use this means or that or no means at all, but an objective witness can see that only one approach encourages
** the abandonment of all dependency,
** the rejection of all supposedly superior authority (whether texts or persons or supernatural entities),
** the eradication of belief in any dualistic concept involving superior vs. inferior; greater-than vs. lesser-than, and powerful vs. powerless,
** the elimination of the playing of any subservient or childish or dependent role (and the elimination of belief in all other roles as well), and
** the refusal to submit to the control of others or to the control of their dreamed up supreme beings or their fictional words or their myth-based texts.
Only one encourages all-natural abidance rather than living unnaturally or trying to live supernaturally.
It should be clear even to the occasional visitor to this site that, like Maharaj's loft, this is not a place to come for "support" or "mutual support." Nor will the online course provide that support for you, nor will the content in the Advaita book set, nor will the Advaitin retreats conducted here.
Here You have the opportunity to realize that anything and everything that thinks it needs support is fictional. Be rid of the belief in the fictional and you can be free of joining the non-Realized who are engaged in the planet-wide search for dependency-producing support.
"But my ______ (support group / church / temple / mosque / guru, whatever) is my anchor." Indeed. No debate there, but understand that an anchored ship cannot sail; therefore, rather than support "you," this is a place where you (the false you) will be destroyed, vanquished, eliminated, flushed out and flushed.
Only when the "you's" go can an understanding of the You come, and if an understanding of the You comes, wherefore any need at all, especially a dependent need for support? Here, You are invited to know the unsupported Reality.
Maharaj said of that: "Awareness is primordial; it is the original state, beginningless, endless, uncaused, unsupported, without parts, without change."
"But my support group is saving my life, Floyd." Really? Or has it replaced one set of deceptions with another? One set of faulty programming with another? One boring and crazy existence with another even more boring and even crazier existence?
All such places are where the GroupSpeak consists of nonsense and insanity,
where silence is given lip service but the actuality is marked by talk, talk, and more talk, and
where independence is scorned and said to be rooted in egotism rather than in Realization.
Maharaj said, "No supports are needed." He said, "Let go every support."
So again the question is, "How free do you want to be?" The truthful answer for the 97% who claim to be religious and for the millions who claim to be spiritual would be: "Honestly, Floyd, not at all." So it is, but so it need not be.
