Your use of the word “we” suggests that such is the case with you, and it also suggests that you are still entrenched in duality. You believe you behave "better" than before, and you also believe that you behave "better" than “others,” all the result of the new spiritual role you have assumed; yet “better vs. worse” and “you vs. others” is duality.
Trapped in religious or spiritual personas, which are typically marked by either aloofness or false modesty, person will only “connect” with those who want to partake of their spiritual knowledge (also known as “learned ignorance”) or they will break away from “others” who are not as “good” or willing to listen to their beliefs. The irony is that, while they claim to understand the Oneness and believe that they are all about “union and unity,” they further the concept of separation in actual practice. By putting on their “ashram face,” they are merely projecting another false image to go along with their false identity.
When a false identity or false “I” is present, ego is present. When ego is present, the duality of differentiation is present. To the ego, differentiation means “not being like all those others” (or all those slobs or sinners or “less-Realized”). The Realized, unlike religious or spiritual role-players, have the understanding that leads—in the relative existence—to true compassion. Meaning what? Compassion (among the Realized who are living out an AS IF existence) is an understanding of what each person is up against as he/she is driven unconsciously and/or subconsciously by programming and conditioning and enculturation and genetics and personality.
Next, as explained before many times, religious and spiritual roles are steps on the “journey.” Never has anyone been discouraged from taking those steps and playing those roles. The invitation is merely to understand that religious roles or spiritual roles are still nothing more than roles...just false personas. That realization can facilitate your transitioning beyond fixation at the third of seven steps. Then, you can shift beyond identification with roles that are nothing more than new variations on the “I” and continue to a Full Understanding of the Absolute and the functioning of the totality. Then, the remainder of the manifestation will happen in an AS IF fashion.
Finally, you demonstrate clearly why those fixated at level three have not Realized, though they believe they have: (1) by assuming a role—even one you think is a “better” one—you demonstrate you have not completed the full “journey” and (2) by using dualistic terms, you evidence the same and (3) by revealing your annoyance over a suggestion that where you are is not the end of the “path,” you also reveal that a WHO is present that can be annoyed. Such annoyance can only happen in the absence of pure consciousness.
