An Advaita Vedanta realization, enlightenment, nisarga yoga site discussing non-duality (nonduality), your original nature, and dwelling in the natural state as revealed by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.
FROM A SITE VISITOR YESTERDAY: It seems to me the consciousness which you say is the cause of nonsense is also the cause of all that is accomplished in the relative. like Steven was saying we have to work if we don’t have someone to pay our bills. We have to contribute if we want to have some sense of purpose and meaning and betterment. You have said Christ was an Advaitin. I am combining Advaita Vedanta and Christianity to live by. My religion lets me serve others. What is wrong with that? what’s wrong with trying to live like Christ and help others. That is not nonsense. Jim
F.: It is personal identification with the body, combined with a mental and personal desire for body continuity, which makes it so easy for persons to believe in some “eternal place” where the body (or some subtle version thereof) can go…forever.
If there were no consciousness to be corrupted or blocked, and if there were no body identification, then there could be no belief in the concepts that are taught to members of the sky-cults. Conversely, all that is called “bliss” or “joy” or “happiness” could not be witnessed were the consciousness not manifested. Yet understand what is actually happening: it is not even the body that enjoys the taste of gourmet cuisine, though body-cum-consciousness is a prerequisite.
When the body called “floyd” visits certain places in
Were the body to be subjected to a continuous drip of anesthetics, blocking the consciousness from being conscious of those flavors and that ambience and the company, could anything be enjoyed? It is not the body or the “mind” that enjoys whatever is being enjoyed…it is the manifest consciousness that I AM for this brief period.
It is also the “mind” that follows the programming of manifested consciousness that registers all that it takes to be miserable and to suffer as well. Do you see why, if the consciousness is blocked or warped, persons cannot possibly be aware of what they are doing or thinking or saying?
Do you see from that why Advaitin teachers tell you that this is all illusion…never what it seems to be or appears to be to the warped consciousness and to the resultant, bastardized “mind”?
Further, if there were no consciousness that could be corrupted or blocked, there could be no persons who claim in their contradictory fashion that “they live their lives according to The Word of Christ” while ignoring…the words of Christ. They would not be trapped in the bondage of learned ignorance, as they (and most on the planet) are.
They would understand what the Advaitin Christ meant when he referred to each person’s individualized version of “heaven” and “earth” and noted that both will fade away as the manifested consciousness fades away. Understanding the inner guru, they would know why Christ (post-Realization) said that “no one would ever see the kingdom of heaven for it is within.”
Yet the persons who claim membership in the sky cult named for Christ will write to this site and report to this speck that the space called “floyd” is doomed to go to hell and will never see heaven…all the while ignoring the words of their champion who has already told them that they will not see heaven, either.
The contradictions of religion are typical of all of the contradictions that result from the manifestation and the warping or blocking of pure consciousness. Yet who on this planet speaks of these things without fear? Only Realized Advaitin teachers and a handful of the enlightened. The grip of religious dogma on the masses intimidates most persons to such a degree that they fear telling the truth.
Let a man say in one country that some persons become bitter and “cling to…religion” and he will be attacked by the media and masses for weeks, maybe forever. Let a person in another region not pledge allegiance to Allah and he will be stoned. Let another express doubt and those who claimed to love him when he “had faith” will be cursing him to hell and damnation. What nonsense, all this relative much ado about nothing.
Thus to Jim (and to all who have reached the third step and have assumed religious and/or spiritual roles), understand the neti-neti: You are neither a religious man, a spiritual man, nor a philosophical man. You are neither a Christian nor an Advaitin nor a Muslim nor a Jew nor a Hindu nor Buddhist nor Advaitin.
There are neither Americans nor Russians nor Chinese nor Tibetans. There are no alcoholics or addicts, no bosses or workers, no servants or masters. Do you not see why the sages of all times have called all of “this” illusion?
Since those are not real, then the specks of warped or blocked consciousness that believe the beliefs associated with those cults or faiths cannot possibly be real; thus, there is no reincarnation, no resurrection, no birth, no death, no karma…nothing that is magical/supernatural. There is only the natural, though the unnatural seemingly happens as the consciousness is warped or blocked.
Trying to follow the dictates of any movement or group or ideology or organization that urges you to learn more concepts will only drive you deeper into the darkness of learned ignorance.
Learned ignorance, in turn, will prevent you from finding out That Which You Are, will prevent you from understanding Your original nature, and will prevent You from dwelling in a natural manner as opposed to an unnatural or supernatural manner.
The invitation is to reach the third step on the “path” (the step of religion and/or spirituality) and then transcend and continue the “journey” until Full Realization happens. Please enter the silence of contemplation.
