An Advaita forum focusing on Realisation, enlightenment, non-duality, Real Love, peace, freedom, Your original nature, abiding naturally, the Oneness, the Nothingness, and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj.

Here, there is nothing that is believed, so there is no one here who wants you to believe anything, either. Here, the invitation is to be free of all that you have been programmed, conditioned, acculturated, and domesticated to believe so that you can be free, period.

This is the first joint posting and came about spontaneously. More may happen spontaneously…or not.

F.: Why are pointers toward being free of the influences of personality so often ignored when the unconscious motivator of personality results in lives that are marked and marred—relatively speaking—by fluctuations, disorganization, up’s and down’s, periods of supposed contentment (often imagined as a result of dissociation) and even chaos?

A man living a life not unlike a roller coaster ride was told last night: “Roller coaster rides might be fun for five minutes once a year at a carnival. Riding them every day for years, as you have done and are doing, should get old for anyone really awake to the effects.”

Yet most ignore pointers toward a no-personality state because they grow accustomed to putting a spin on everything, to living with a distorted view of reality, and to believing in the duality that “things are going well” at one moment but later claiming “this is a real crisis I’m facing now,” only to return to the mindset that "Okay, things are going well again now."

That is what being mentally and emotionally and "personally" unstable looks like, and it the abnormal norm of the planet now.

Additionally, in between those extremes are all sorts of imagined high’s and imagined low’s which are addressed with such nonsensical platitudes as, “That’s just the way life is, Floyd” or "We have to accept the fact that life is chaotic" or "I do what I can and then I turn it over to my higher power."

The reply to "That's just the way it is, Floyd": “For you, yes. For Me and for all that have Realized, no.” When living under the auspices of personality, when those nightmare events come, their impact will be all the more alarming because they are not the product of physical sleep.

They are the product of memory, and though persons are “in the dream” (of the planet), they are awake just enough to “experience” fully the misery of the nightmares when they come.

Soon, though, as each nightmare passes, they go back to walking and talking and behaving in their sleep—that is, driven blindly by personality while whitewashing their actual condition, putting a twist and a spin on what they do not choose to accept as fact and believing, “Now everything is okay again.” And to accept such instability and such distortion is genuine madness.

Maharaj addressed that insanity of humanity. He made clear on many occasions that humanity is trapped by personality, the result being that persons do not have a clue about why they think the way they think, why they say what they say, or why they do what they do, all along believing that they are the conscious determiners of all of those totally unconscious acts.

Maharaj was spot on. What could be more insane than that, than not knowing why you think and talk and behave as you do? What could be more insane than normalizing the abnormal in the way that personality always does?

What could be more insane than to be among the one species of the billions on the planet that prefers to live unnaturally and supernaturally (a.k.a., “religiously” or “spiritually”)? What could be more insane than not accepting the invitation to uncover the “Self-defeating” tendencies of the false selves…of the false personalities?

Louise: There are various methods to uncover the particular “flavouring” of these unconscious personality tendencies. Ask yourself: Are you free from the veil of personality? Have you uncovered the particular personality that drives you? Do understand the primary desires and fears that have prompted your actions, choices and behaviours since early childhood? Are you aware of the drivers that motivate the search?

F.: Of course almost all need to take those questions into serious consideration because almost all are totally unaware of what drives them. How does that impact finding Truth, uncovering the Full Understanding?

L.: For many seekers, the veil or sheath of personality feels entirely normal and natural – the motivators and drivers are unconscious and therefore unseen. In this way, the basic personality type fuels the search [F.: see the discussion yesterday of the effects of Maharaj’s Type Four Personality] but also obscures the full understanding.

F.: Lost in the dreams and desires (as well as the fears and the nightmares) of personality-induced instability, persons are forever living in the unsteady duality of “good” times and “bad” times, the effect being ever-present shiftings that lead to shakiness, unsteadiness, volatility, insecurity, and chaos.

In the periods of post-personality formation and in a state of personality maintenance, persons become so bored with their routines that the only time they “feel alive” (that is, feel anything) is when they experience the chaos that they stir up to interrupt the boring patterns of their existence.

Those same persons dismiss the Realized state as being “robotic,” finding one more way to cling to disorder and to reject stability. They normalize the abnormal fluctuations between “feeling connected” at times but feeling disconnected and disjointed at other times.

L.: The sheath of personality must be seen for what it is, and discarded so these flavourings or attributes do not create the illusion of separation from THAT which is without attributes, without flavourings, without additions of any type.

F.: Further, not only must all personality be discarded, but all belief in anything personal must go if one is to be in touch with reality / Reality and if one is to be free of the selfishness and self-centeredness that belief in “the personal” and in “individuality” generates.

Maharaj: This world is filled up with selfishness…. Once you know what these principles are, then you dissolve the personality and, in the process, that selfishness vanishes because you are no more an individual.

L.: When embarked on the search, the seeker may identify and discard the flavouring of a wide variety of other personas – more easily identified and dissolved: the helper, the rescuer, the compliant employee, etc. However, the persona of the seeker is one of the last to be eliminated. Eventually the seeker is seen as yet another persona – the selection of memories, thoughts, impressions, and preferences that create an apparent identity.

F.: Yet most never want to be rid of personality because they believe, as a result of the blocked consciousness, that their personality / personalities actually define who they are. Most, instead, are content to seek “growth, self-improvement, change that makes the self better," or some exercises that can "shift the person to some higher level."

Maharaj: Changes are brought about in the consciousness itself, not in the pseudo-personality.

F.: Specifically, the change involves less of a changing of the consciousness (unless one takes the stance that the consciousness has been warped and requires being restored to its originally pure form) and more of a removing of the obstacles that are blocking the consciousness—that are blocking the Pure Witness (actually, the Pure Witnessing) from seeing clearly and realistically and logically.

Furthermore, as noted yesterday, there is no personal God that can be called on to bring back the freedom of simplicity and sanity and logic that children are robbed of at an early age when those traits were replaced by personality and personality’s warped traits and motives.

To believe that you are a person is to set the stage for arrogantly upgrading that persona and believing you will be a Super or Supreme Person someday and believing now in some Supreme Person / Being, setting the stage for the manifestation of the disorder called "The God Complex Personality Disorder."

Maharaj: When it is said that out of devotion somebody meets a God, it is not a personality (personal) God, but the devotee himself proliferates into the … profundity.

F.: That is, the profound awareness of the functioning of the totality supplants any prior beliefs in a personal God which were instilled as a result of faulty programming and lie-based conditioning.

Realized, not only will a belief in a personal God disappear but a belief in the personal self disappears as well, and vice-versa. If there is no personal self, then there is no creator of personal selves. (Understand that all is energy / matter and that neither matter nor energy can be created nor destroyed and the hoax of a creator ends.)

Maharaj: As long as identification is there, you will think of benefiting only this pseudo-personality; and

Maharaj: The knowledge that I am expounding will dissolve your identity as a personality; and

Maharaj: My personality, or individuality, is thrown to the winds; it is no more there.

F.: In the chaos of the daily going and doing and zooming, though, most persons still find plenty of times for themselves (for their “false selves” / personas) but have no time at all for the Self—to find What They Truly Are. So it is.

Please enter the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)

Five Free eBooks

Compliments of Andy Gugar, Jr.,
the following eBooks are available without charge for you or for friends:

I.
"GOOD vs. EVIL?" or "IGNORANCE, STUPIDITY, and INSANITY?"

The content of this eBook deals with one of the most common but erroneous beliefs that the non-Realized masses cling to and which they will fight about (and even kill over), namely, that there is a planet-wide duel going on between “the forces of good and evil” in the universe.

Either (1) the ancient view is spot on: that the "ills of the planet" are rooted in evil people, in people not being religious enough or spiritual enough, and are caused solely by bad morality; or, (2) the "ills of the planet" are rooted in ignorance, stupidity and insanity and "being good" or "being moral" does not put an end to ignorance, does not eliminate stupidity, and does not treat insanity in any way.

II.
"THE VISION"

Comments regarding the free eBook entitled “THE VISION”:

“My thanks to you and Andy.” – Andrew “Mac” McMaster

“Thanks so much for the book! And, by the way, it is brilliant and the most effective pointing that you have done. It has served to help clear the remaining blockages.” – Stan Cross

“Greatly appreciate having “THE VISION” added to my Henderson resource library that is situated on the right side of my bed for easy access! Eternally grateful for what was received and what was given.” – Robert Rigby

“‘THE VISION’ is such a well-written, condensed version of the Nisarga Yoga approach to understanding and enjoying Reality that I feel it can serve as a must-read ‘meditation guide’ for all earnest seekers.” – Andy Gugar, Jr.

III.
"Sapolsky, Maharaj, and the Non-Dual Teachings"

Dr. Robert Maurice Sapolsky is an American neuroendocrinologist; a professor of biology, neuroscience, and neurosurgery at Stanford University; a researcher; an author; and a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.

There is much that a non-dualist or Advaitin or Nisargan can relate to by comparing and contrasting what Sapolsky reveals about the way certain troops of baboons live in Africa with the way that humans abide all around the globe.

This 152-page eBook catalogues the common, non-dual message shared by Sapolsky and Maharaj and reveals the ways that Sapolsky’s scientific research supports the non-dual pointers offered by Maharaj.

IV.
Seeking

In “PART ONE” it will be seen that most persons on the planet are not seeking, and most will never seek, but for those who are seeking, most will face several obstacles:

In “PART TWO” of this book, it will be seen why many criticized Maharaj for “changing his message in his later talks.” It will be seen that the changes were not about changing the message per se as much as about changing his methodology as he experimented with one version of the Ultimate Medicine after another in order to try to find an effective means for addressing the Ultimate Sickness.

He tried a religious version of the Medicine, a Spiritual version of the Medicine, and finally settled on a version which addressed to Sickness at its core . . . at the mental and emotional level.

V.
"THE MOST DANGEROUS BELIEF OF ALL"

“Dangerous” is a term that can only apply during the relative existence, but of those who do commit suicide, for example, how many shoot themselves in the foot over and over until they “bleed out”? None. They shoot themselves in the head. Why? In order to try to stop the noise - to try to stop the chatter of a thousand monkeys – to stop the noisy mind which is the area that stores the ideas, notions, concepts, mind-stuff, etc. which drives them into the depths of insanity.

And what are those ideas, notions, concepts, etc. called, collectively? "Their beliefs." The irony? They are not their beliefs at all. They are the beliefs of “others” that were set in place via programming, conditioning, etc. and which persons then think are their own.

And what are those beliefs rooted in, and what reinforces those beliefs and convinces persons that they are sacred and worth fighting over and even sometimes worth dying for? Blind faith.

This 337-page eBook discusses those issues in detail.
