TODAY'S CONSIDERATIONS
PERSONALITY: A KEY DETERMINER OF PERSPECTIVES
Some recall that a friend of mine who is a counselor was working with a couple in marital counseling and that one of their main issues - as in most marriages - involved their disagreements regarding their finances.
To that end, she brought me in to complete the three-session series I offer on budgeting and restoration to financial sanity.
For those who are serious about changing their perspectives around money, a fourth session can be added for them to take a personality inventory and to understand how the hidden agendas of personality drive people, both financially and every other regard.
The husband, who bragged about being "a good ole God-fearing, conservative, beer-drinkin', gun-totin', truck-drivin' country boy," listened to the counselor introduce the role that personality plays in rendering people financially insane (though she used more palatable words to describe the process). When she finished, it was obvious that none of her words registered with the husband, and it was at that point that he asked her:
"Okay, little lady, now tell me again. Exactly why would I want to waste my time and money on that crap?" to which she replied:
"You may not, and that's your call. The only reason others have chosen to do the personality study is because they came to understand that your personality styles will determine every thought you think, every word you say, and every action you take throughout your entire life."
"As for those who do that personality inventory test and then the follow-up session where Floyd explains the results, what they found is that the subconscious agendas of personality control spending habits in the same way that they control every other aspect of persons' lives."
In a nutshell, here are some effects:
Personality Type One Perfectionists spend their money on self-improvement and on things they obsess over and then compulsively buy.
Personality Type Two Helpers / Love Seekers spend their money on rescuing and on things that will make other love them (like the $75,000 swimming pool that a neighbor bought in order to have people over so she can treat them to limitless free days at the pool).
Personality Type Threes spend their money on things that enhance image (including clothes, cars, big houses, etc.)
Personality Type Fours will spend their money on escaping or on seeking and going and doing and zooming to holy places or to visit holy teachers or to buy holy books.
Personality Type Fives will spend their money on knowledge gathering.
Personality Type Sixes will spend their money on people and things which they think can alleviate their fears and fulfill their desires, inspiring them to give money to the objects of their blind-faith loyalty, such as churches or politicians or spiritual groups or sports teams or dependent mates or favorite restaurants or bars, etc.
Personality Type Seven Adventurers will spend their money on trips, on the most expensive foods, on the most expensive booze, on the most expensive designer drugs, etc.
Personality Type Eight Controllers will spend money on trying to accumulate power and influence and the ability to control.
Personality Type Nines will create money problems because they prefer to dodge work, to procrastinate around tasks, to pay others to do what they could do themselves, and to find caretakers to cover their expenses.
Note that 50% of all persons on the planet are Type Sixes, so if you want half the people con the planet to send you money and to idolize you, tap into their fears, their prejudices, and their egotism-based desire to be associated with moneymakers and people they think are "successful."
Cultivate an image of being a millionaire or billionaire and they'll send even more money to you in order to bask in the reflected glow of your achievements as well. You'll find that it very easy to tap into their blind faith loyalty to god or heroes or the rich and powerful or the famous or to "The Big Name Teachers" (whom Maharaj warned seekers to say away from) or to any of the master manipulators who can move the masses to do what they want them to do.
Of all the persons on the planet, 50% start out being set up from the very get-go by their Type Six Personality to blindly fall for the nonsense they are told by parents and teachers and community leaders; to blindly fall for what they are told by other "leaders" or "people in authority";
to blindly fall for what they are told by preachers, priests, rabbis, millionaire gurus and millionaire authors, ayatollahs and imams;
to blindly fall for what they are told by cult leaders, life coaches, ashram leaders, and sponsors; to blindly fall for what they are told by local, state, national, and international politicians; and to blindly fall for what they hear without ever questioning what they are told, no matter how insane it might be.
The different perspective which is required to be free - free of the hidden agendas of personality, of learned ignorance, of insanity, of being influenced by manipulators, ND of being controlled - requires the willingness to question everything one has been taught.
It requires that you answer "YES!" to the following question:
"Is it possible that everything you have ever been told by the people you've allowed to influence you and control your was nonsense, garbage, baloney, gibberish, claptrap, babble, and total BS?"
The different perspective which guides "the realized" is powered by a BS Detector which is always activated and WHICH always operates at maximum efficiency.
Any type can take the steps to activate that detector. Because many Type Fours dealt with abusive authority from early on and developed an early sense of rebelliousness as a result, that detector automatically starts functioning in them from early on; hence, at the age of 5 or 6 when a Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher named Ms. Myrtle told me about a man being swallowed by a whale and living to be regurgitated three days later, "BS!" was called;
when told that a god who loves everyone unconditionally was nevertheless willing to open a hole and kill thousands of people, allowed walls to fall down and kill thousands more, took sides in wars and let his chosen people kill the not-chosen, burned towns to the ground because people were having way too much sexual fun, and eventually got so angry that he drowned everyone alive except for the members of one family, "BS!" was called;
when people talked about virgin births of the leaders of dozens religions in the Far East and the Middle East - including Horus, Krishna, Buddha, Osiris, Jesus, etc., etc., etc. - "B"!" was called; when persons said that being super spiritual could cure mental / personality disorders, neuroses, and psychoses, "BS!" was called;
when people said that hurricanes and tornadoes and floods were used by "the universe" or by "a Power" in order to "punish people whose actions in this and previous states of existence have decided their fate in this and in future existences and to punish people who have accumulated negative karmic energy, "BS!" was called.
Freedom from nonsense - from learned ignorance - requires questioning everything which has been accepted unquestioningly as a result of being driven by blind faith.
Only via questioning can a different perspective come, and only if a different perspective comes can freedom come.
