The point in this series is that the non-dual message has long been widespread but has seldom been understood either then or now.
At the request of some visitors, further discussion or explanation of some of the Maharaj pointers shared recently is being provided.
A DEEPER LOOK AT SOME OF THE POINTERS OFFERED BY SRI NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ
(Trying to interfere with and control their God, continued)
From yesterday:
21. "First of all you identify something as being good or bad for yourself. Then, in an effort to acquire good or to get rid of the bad, you have invented a God. Then you worship such a God and . . . you pray to that God for something good to happen to you."
Regarding the “you pray to that God” point: There are several major ironies involved with praying which most “pray-ers” never see:
1. Praying happens less regularly than many would claim. Most persons who pray do so most often during times of perceived need (actually mostly “desires”) or perceived threats / fears.
If you are a parent with adult children, would you prefer that those children call regularly to talk to you, or would you be fine with their never calling unless they want some money? The latter would be rather rude, would it not?
2. But more ironic is the fact that most
pray-ers” - who talk a lot about the importance of “their god’s Will” and his "Divine Plan" - claim that their praying is evidence of their faith. Really? In fact, it is exactly the opposite.
If persons are buying into their god’s Will, then why are they praying in an effort to change what’s going on in their lives? If their god is in charge of everything, and if their god “has a reason for everything that happened or is happening” (all of which is said to be a part of that “Divine Plan”) then asking him to change his Will and his Plan would be an act of extreme arrogance and a show of an absence of faith.
Consider my services involving the use of a personality inventory test and results analysis which are offered here:
If clients have faith in the way I am using the results of a personality inventory to provide “staff development” to their workforce,
or my ability to take the personality test results of a couple and provide them with a “Conflict and Compatibility Study” in order form them to be conscious of areas they might consider “working on” or "guarding against,"
or my ability to use the results to show a person the exact percentage of influence which each of the nine basic personality types are exerting over their thoughts and words and actions,
then they will witness whatever the results are offering and will accept and consider the information obtained not from me but through the use of a proven, scientific method.
None of the results are ever about any “opinions” I draw but are about (a) the information received via a personality testing instrument which makes use of ancient, centuries-old wisdom about the effects of personality assumption and are about (b) a test which has proven to be an effective transmitter of personality-related facts.
They will not suggest which questions on the inventory should be changed or re-written and they will not argue about results which they can see before them in black and white.
They will merely witness, observe, see, and perceive what they can understand about their personalities’ hidden agendas and motivations and their assumed personalities' ability to influence, usually all facts which they have not formerly seen.
Similarly, if persons claim to have faith in their god, why would one ever take any action others than to merely witness whatever their god is making happen and whatever part of his Plan is at play?
If their god really is “omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent,” then that all-knowing and all-powerful god who is everywhere at the same second and is aware of all that is happening with all things and cares about everyone and everything - right down to a sparrow’s demise - then who is a “pray-er” to think that she or he should have any say at all about whatever God is doing and making happen?
Per their stated beliefs, they most assuredly should not have any say. They should show the faith they claim to have and never pray and always only watch what is happening and accept their god’s Will.
Consider this exchange which took place in Maharaj’s loft:
Questioner: “My own feeling is that my spiritual development is not in my hands. Making one’s own plans and carrying them out leads nowhere. I just run in circles round myself. When God considers the fruit to be ripe, He will pluck it and eat it. Whichever fruit seems green to Him will remain on the world’s tree for another day.”
25. Maharaj: “You think God knows you? Even the world He does not know.”
Q: “Yours is a different God. Mine is different. Mine is merciful. He suffers along with us.”
26. M: “You pray to save one, while thousands die. And if all stop dying, there will be no space on earth.”
He said on another occasion:
27. M: “The way to truth lies through the destruction of the false. To destroy the false, you must question your most inveterate beliefs. Of these the idea that you are the body is the worst. With the body comes the world, with the world, God (who is supposed to have created the world) and thus it starts:
fears, religions, prayers, sacrifices, all sorts of systems, all to protect and support the child-man, frightened out of his wits by monsters of his own making. Realize that what you are cannot be born nor die and with the fear gone all suffering ends.”
And presently – as well as throughout the entire manifestation - what is that “what you are” which cannot be born or die?
The three parts of a composite unity: elements, air, and conscious-energy.
And in addition to those three not being capable of being born or dying, none of those three can desire or fear, either.
All desires and fears flow from the warped human mind, specifically from the desire-and-fear-based-agendas of the false personality identifications stored therein.
Again, if persons think they are “praying,” they are not. What they are really doing is allowing voiceless and formless and dreamed up and totally-bogus identities to speak through the elemental mouth of a plant food body and provide a wish list to a dreamed up god “in an effort to acquire good or to get rid of the bad,” both of which are false, duality-based beliefs as well.

THE EXPLANATION
If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of god in the past was of a weak god, an absentee god, A Santa Claus-type god, a mean, punishing, vindictive god, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring god whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."
The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a god that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring god,' any supposed god that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'god' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.
"That is, a non-narcissistic their god / their goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'god' and focus on the 'god as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."
Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:
"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

"Heaven and earth shall fade away."
--Yeshu'a (Jesus)
and
"Heaven and hell are not geographic places
but are states of mind, nothing more than
concepts dreamed up by men."
--Pope John Paul II
"There is no hell."
--Pope Francis, the current pope
in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,
a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record
teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.
[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.
And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?
Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?
The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)
With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.
The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
