The point in this series is that the non-dual message has long been widespread but has seldom been understood either then or now.
A DEEPER LOOK AT SOME OF THE POINTERS OFFERED BY SRI NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ
At the request of some visitors, further discussion or explanation of some of the Maharaj pointers shared recently is being provided.
13. Maharaj told visitors to the loft that they were not going to get anything there because he was about the business of “taking everything away.”
Ninety-seven percent of all persons on the planet report that they are associated with one organized religion or another. Most who are attached to one particular religion or ideology never made a conscious choice to study all the possibilities and to familiarize themselves with all the venues which present themselves as centers for learning God’s Will before becoming totally involved with and completely subsumed by any particular venue.
Instead, whatever venue a person among the masses is attached to is more often than not the same one which they were taken to as an infant by their parents, guardians, etc. As for that venue, it becomes the one which most of them will never leave although they never visited any other venues and they never investigated their parents’ venue prior to becoming attached to it in order to understand what the persons in that venue are truly offering.
And while touting the perks and benefits of their attachment to their particular religion or ideology, they almost never see the (relatively) adverse effects and impact of their venue’s teachings on every aspect of their entire existence. Why?
Because of the unquestioned teachings which they are encouraged to accept as truth based on nothing other than blind faith alone.
Some reach a state of such misery and suffering that they unconsciously seek elsewhere, for what they know not other than a sense of being driven to find . . . "relief."
Yet all of the popular venues are mirror images of each other. Each might have a “holy book” written in a language that is different from the others; or they might have slightly different rituals which they participate in; or they might recommend one type of garb or hairstyle that others do not, but at their core, they all reinforce the planet-wide addiction to accumulation (even as some give lip service to de-accumulating).
At their core, they all offer more:
More that is to be learned; more that is to be sought and acquired; more that is to be taught and studied; more knowledge; more experiences of a special type; more talk with emotion-generating stories which are intended to inspire and to “get the juices flowing,” which leads to more and more emotional intoxication;
more expertise in the content of their so-called “holy books”; more rules about how they should think and talk and behave and how they should raise their children; more notions about how to bring about healing; more ways to tap into some other-worldly Power in order to have access to more power on this planet in order to extend life, influence the paths of storms, inspire an employer to provide a job; inspire the one you love to love you; inspire the people in your life to be better; inspire the people in your life to be as good as you; or alter the progression of diseases;
more power in order to have more control; more power in order to exert greater influence and attain more status within the venue you are attached to and within your community, etc.; more peace, even though less peace results when those with different beliefs inspire religious judging and activism and trigger efforts to try to change others (or, if deemed “necessary,” to destroy them.) More. More, More.
Also, several million more persons proudly affirm, “I am not religious! I am spiritual!” separating themselves from the masses with their belief that they are abiding on a much higher plane than the 97% who are involved with the popular organized religions.
What are some of the effects mentioned earlier?
The members of one so-called “spiritual group” in particular minimize their (relatively) destructive behaviors of days gone by – behaviors which went on for years by dismissing the misery and suffering which resulted from their thoughts and words and actions by saying, “Well, I had to do everything I did to hit a bottom and then get here and join this group.”
No. No they did not. True, they did not choose to be driven subconsciously by three of the keys symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness which Maharaj identified as “ignorance, stupidity, and insanity”;
however, to publicly announce that one has been totally freed of those former symptoms is blatantly delusional if one’s present message to others is, “Just hang in there and know that good will eventually come from your misery-and-suffering-generating ‘ignorance, stupidity, and insanity’ when you finally feel bad enough to stop.”
So it’s really about your misery and suffering, not about the misery and suffering of those who have been impacted by you? That mindset is the epitome of the self-centeredness which the speaker will claim he or she has been freed of.
The long-term effects of what is being taught in venues all around the planet are largely ignored by the members in those venues, also including"
reinforcement of self-absorption and self-focus; reinforcement of staying asleep rather than being fully awake, aware, and conscious; and reinforcement of accumulation of more and more learned ignorance and ideas and concepts and notions and thoughts and schemes and images and opinions and views and theories (a.k.a., “beliefs”).
When Maharaj told visitors to the loft that they were not going to get anything there because he was about the business of “taking everything away,” is it likely that even one at that early point was really and truly dedicated to having “everything taking away”? Not likely.
Be the venue one where the now-popular “prosperity theology” is taught; or be it one where members are being promised rewards now and rewards forever along with an assurance of avoiding punishment now and punishment for eternity; or be it one where members are told that their sickness cannot ever be cured but they can get a 24-hour reprieve,
the chances are that everyone who enters is going to be taught more and more and more and are going to be encouraged to learn more and more and more.
Moreover, that includes the venues where the popular
Big Names Teachers offer up what they call “the non-dual message” and where they also encourage the seeking of more and more and more:
Some modern-day “gurus” who are on what they call the non-dual lecture circuit or non-dual book tours or non-dual seminars have written books and offer talks on such topics as “10 Secrets for Success” and “The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire” and “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams” as well as a near-endless assortment of other topics which are all evidence of the fact they that have missed the non-dual understanding completely.
Contrary to the popular message being shared by many who falsely claim that they are “non-dual teachers,” Maharaj’s final version of the Medicine promises no gaining of power and no merging with a Power whose power can be tapped into in order to be able to control events and people on planet earth. Maharaj offered instead to take away all desires, including the desire for control and the desire for power / Power.
So much for those promising that their approach / their latest book / their seminars etc. can give you “power”; can provide you “power by way of intentions”; can provide “power now”; can lead to your “ambitions being met now”; can reveal “the secrets of success”; can assure you “an ageless body and timeless mind”; can lead to “the spontaneous fulfillment of your desires”; can lead to the “fulfillment of your dreams,” yada . . . yada . . . yada.
Be it those venue where pseudo-non-duality is offered or those venues where Spiritual Giants are mass-produced or those venues that facilitate the continued belief in the personality identification of The Super Religious One are or which talk about a timeless mind, consider: there’s no such thing as peace of mind – there is only peace if you are out of your mind.
To be out of your mind is simple if you once and for all purge all of the nonsense stored therein. Then, you can abide - as do all living things on planet earth except for humans - under the auspices of the brain rather than under the driving force of a fiction-filled, learned ignorance-filled mind.
That’s what Maharaj meant by “taking everything away”:
Taking away the nonsense stored in the mind; taking away the belief in false identifications, be they body or mind or personality identifications; taking away . . . everything.
Here, there is no one who wants anyone to believe anything that is believed here because there is nothing here that is believed. All has been cast aside. The seeking and spiritual workaholism ended after I became determined to stay away from any and every venue that wants to teach more and wants members to learn more.
Here, the un-teaching was completed, the un-learning was completed, and everything was taken away.
What’s left? The no-more-ness. The oneness and the no-one-ness. The no-self-ness and the no-Self-ness. The peace and quiet of the nothingness.
Ahhhhh. Oh yeah.

THE EXPLANATION
If looked at as nouns, they point to illusions and are, therefore, a total waste of time to even discuss; if looked at as verbs which are resulting in certain sane but rare behaviors among humanity, then they are worthy of some attention during the relative existence.
Meaning? There are members of certain groups who say things such as "My concept of God in the past was of a weak God, an absentee God, A Santa Claus-type God, a mean, punishing, vindictive God, etc. Today, I am in close contact with a loving and caring God whom I worship and praise and glorify and give thanks to."
The reply to that usually goes like this: "If you are in contact with a God that wants to be worshipped and praised and glorified, then you're dealing with someone like yourself - a narcissist - and hanging out with narcissists will never bring an end to your narcissism (that narcissism evidenced by the fact that you think you are "godly").
Next, in the phrase 'loving and caring God,' any supposed God that truly had her or his act together would tell you that the totally irrelevant part of that phrase is 'God' and that the only part that is relevant is the "loving and caring" part.
"That is, a non-narcissistic god / goddess would say, "I care not an iota about being worshipped and praised and glorified by you or anyone else. How arrogant and insecure and needy would I have to be to want that? Forget the man-made, dreamed up noun 'God' and focus on the 'God as a verb' understanding and then go forth and let loving and caring be verbs - not adjectives - and let them generate the act of love and the act of caring and let those actions manifest through you."
Yeshu'a (Jesus) and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis were spot on:
"No one shall ever see 'the kingdom of heaven.' It is within"

and
"Heaven and hell are not geographic places
but are states of mind, nothing more than
concepts dreamed up by men."

"There is no hell."
--Pope Francis, the current pope
in an interview with journalist Eugenio Scalfari,
a writer used by the Pope to issue off the record
teachings which become a part of the Papal Magisterium.
[That said, would that the popes who have shown the courage to reject a core concept of their dogma - namely, "hell" - would find the additional courage required to question the very existence of their institution in light of the centuries-long cover-up of their history of raping children and in light of the mental and emotional and psychological scarring of billions of their members past and present.
And that need for courage also applies as questions need to be asked about why so many other sky cults are still being supported and allowed to continue to exist as well. When certain types of programming and conditioning have been shown to blind the masses, they should end. Will they? Not likely. Why?
Because what the masses think and say and do is most influenced by the international crime families which hold sway over the masses as criminals conduct their planet-wide operations. What are the major international crime families and which are the most influential and have the largest memberships?
The Mafia / La Cosa Nostra; the Catholic Church (with it 1.2 billion followers) whose Vatican Bank worked for decades with the Mafia while laundering mob earnings (for a 15% all-profit charge by the Bank); Protestant and Evangelical Churches (with over 1.2 billion followers) like the one I was raised in where the youth director molested and sexually assaulted young girls; big business which has long created environments in which people have been abused; powerful political bodies like the U.S. Congress, etc., etc., etc.)
With all of those crime families, neither the followers nor the leadership ever voluntarily step down or shut down their criminal activities. Be they gangs, organized crime families, religions, big business, politicians, etc., they all want control and they all want power and they all want money, and nothing internal will interfere with the driving forces at play.
The masses must demand that all those in charge must step down and their groups and institutions must shut down, and there's the real problem because the continuation of their crimes are enabled not as much by the people running such crime organizations as they are enabled by the masses of people who - wanting some perceived "payoff" - remain involved with them and give them money and support them and aid and abet the continued existence of those criminal enterprises and thus facilitate the ability of church criminals and political criminals and other types of criminals to continue to commit their crimes.]
