To review as this series comes to an end:
Maharaj eventually stopped giving any credence to concepts regarding a
too-little-religion-Ultimate-Sickness-connection
and away from concepts regarding a
sick-spirit-and-a-spiritual-malady-Ultimate-Sickness-connection,
finally leading him to advise seekers to stop reading the so-called "spiritual classic” I AM THAT.
The more that he talked from the perspective of the universal consciousness, the more he talked about the psychological roots of the Ultimate Sickness.
Thus he would say at one point that realization is simply about being free of the mind-based symptoms of the Ultimate Sickness, (including, he said, "ignorance and insanity").
He used the way in which the deer abide naturally
to contrast the style of their relative existence with that of humans who abide
unnaturally (being highly self-destructive and self-defeating, relatively speaking)
and who
try to abide (B) supernaturally (spiritually).
The latter effort inspires them to give lip service to the abandonment of old, ‘bad” roles which they played and to replace those with supposedly “new and improved” roles which they subsequently began to play (including “The Super Jnani,” “The Super Religious One,” “The Spiritual Giant,” and / or “The Super Seeker”).
Why do deer abide more wisely than humans? Why do birds and fish abide more wisely than humans? Why, even in spite of some of their really disgusting habits, do dogs even abide more wisely than humans?
Consider:
See? It’s about staying in the present moment - in “the now” - and witnessing via a non-distorted perspective which allows all to be witnessed as it truly is instead of being distracted and disturbed by the chatter of a thousand monkeys which in the case with every human mind.
Yet mind-noise has become the abnormal "norm" among humans, so unrest and insatiability have become the abnormal "norm" among humans as well. Most will never seek either the truth or real freedom.
Among the few that do, it has been seen how, after years of studying the non-dual teachings, all of that study proves to have been for naught as persons return to their old beliefs which remained because the mind remained.
Maharaj: “You are so used to the support of concepts that when your concepts leave you, although it is your true state, you get frightened and try to cling to them again.”
It
has also been seen how many other seekers will use the teachings in an effort
to try to evade or dodge or escape or avoid or dissociate from the relative
existence, moving mentally into FooFoo Land . . . building dreamed up castles
in the air and then moving into them mentally.
It is so easy for a distortion-filled mind to distort everything perceived, and
that is why it must go completely. If present, it will continue to think, and
one of the thoughts that it will set forth is that you are “realized” . . . or
“getting there.”
Yet
because the “mind” is still present, and because its very presence guarantees
the presence of bogus beliefs and concepts and ideas, it will be heard and it
will block realization (that is, will block any chance to be totally freed from
being driven by “ignorance and insanity”).
Mind-speak will sanction “being delusional and fooling yourself and allowing
others to fool you because that’s just the way it is sometimes.” The only
opportunity for any person to find truth is to share the false ideas and
concepts that are believed and then be willing to at least consider any
feedback that leads to contemplating the contrary.
Again, a rule of thumb that has worked for some still on “the path” is this: “Take every idea you believe, find the 180-degree opposite, and consider that."
Regarding the subject of mind-language and beliefs and duality-based conceptualizations and duality-based words and duality-based actions, consider Maurice Frydman’s take on the mind:
The mind was originally a tool in the struggle for biological survival. But,
in the process the mind acquired the art of symbolic thinking and
communication, the art and skill of language. Ideas and abstractions acquired
an appearance of reality, the conceptual replaced the real, with the result
that man now lives in a verbal world, crowded and dominated by words.
(Indeed, “Insanity is universal. Sanity
is rare.”)
When realization (i.e., freedom from “ignorance and insanity”) happens, worry ends, one’s relative existence is not "dominated by words," and true peace begins.
Additionally,
that peace is not interrupted by the egotistical need to talk-talk-talk all day
. . . by the arrogant need and desire to be heard. Realized, the silence
becomes the “norm,” as it is with the deer and as it was with human-like beings
for millions of years prior to the manifestation of the current, very noisy
condition around the globe.
The suggestion is to employ the quiet more and use your distorted and
distorting vocabulary far less.
A current example of distorting vocabulary involves the various, dreamed up levels of the absence or presence of “woke-ness,” presently used to define the degree to which one is supposedly alert to - aware of - the injustices which are prevalent in all societies, especially in terms of racism.
One urban dictionary defines woke as “being aware of the truth behind things that ‘the man’ does not want you to know.”
[Who is “the man”? Originally, “the man” was the owner of slaves as well as his representatives: the guards and overseers of those slaves; the beaters of those slaves if they were not working fast enough to suit the overseer and owner.
Later, the term was used to refer to local and state and federal governments which initially supported the owning of slave and continued to do so. After the slaves were supposedly “freed,” the term was used to refer to any authority in a position of power who tried to suppress anyone with black skin, who tried to block them from being educated, from voting, from owning land or property, from advancing economically, and from truly being free. The term also refers to those with a “white nationalist” mindset and a “white supremacist” mindset and who see black-skinned persons as “the enemy.” And because police departments have long given hiring preference to former members of the military and armed forces, and because those persons were taught to “seek out and destroy the enemy,” that mindset is transferred from the military to the police: "find the enemy and destroy him." That mindset is also the driving force for the tens of millions who are willing nowadays to begin a race war and a second civil war and who are willing to fight to the death to destroy the so-called enemy, including the republic itself. All such types are considered to be “the man” as well.]
The pointers about woke-ness continue:
Woke-ness now often involves “the act of being excessively-pretentious in regards to how much one cares about a social issue, especially involving the oppressed.”
Contrary to a widely-held misperception which calls for a new perspective is that (1) a woke-ness / pretentiousness connection is something new and that (2) the notion of being aware of the truth in order to understand what “the man” does not want the masses to understand is also something new.
In fact, both can be traced back for thousands and thousands of years.
AWARENESSES OF THE TRUTH WHICH RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL LEADERS DO NOT WANT THEIR MASSES TO UNDERSTAND
There is talk nowadays about the firmly-entrenched beliefs which many hold in regards to the supremacy of their white race and their supposedly superior “white” genes.
To illustrate:
As with almost all supposedly “religious” or “holy” writings, the ancient writings of the Jews came long after the establishment and circulation of their oral traditions, so they orally codified thousands of years ago their racial animosity and their sense of superiority to darker-skinned persons before codifying those attitudes in their supposedly “holy writings.”
Some might be familiar with the tale set forth in the Torah (and repeated in “the Old Testament part” of the Christian Bible), that - after one son of Adam and Eve named “Cain” killed his brother Abel - Cain was cursed and “marked” by God.
Many believe that “the mark” involved God changing the color of Cain’s skin to black; thereafter, the fable of how a black-skinned, murderous race came into being was circulated among the Jews in an oral tradition and then later in writing.
Thus was born the fear and disdain for the concept of “the other.” Alongside that, two conjectural and unverifiable duality-based beliefs were also advanced, specifically, the belief that different-from-ment and better-than-ment are valid concepts.
To this day I have seen no evidence of any serious efforts among Jewish religious leaders or among Christian leaders to challenge what they are presenting as "a holy message" and "the word of God" to disavow those racist, or any other, supposedly “holy teachings.”
What other truths did religious and / or spiritual leaders not want the masses to be aware or to understand? The roots of “snuff films” (in which men have sex with a woman and then kill her) in actuality first happened in religious / spiritual practices which occurred more than 3300 years ago.
The masses back then were told by self-appointed, sociopathic, psychopathic men who had identified themselves as the religious / spiritual leaders of such communities that the rain god was displeased with them and that was why their crops were drying up and dying.
Now it so happened that those religious and spiritual “fathers of snuffing” were men who “got off on” having sex with virgins offered up by parents as a sacrifice and then murdering her.
Such religious leaders would have sex with the virgin in a private part of the temple and then bring her forth to be publicly killed as a human sacrifice to the rain god. How? By cutting out her beating heart, drinking her blood, eating her heart, and then passing it through the crowds to join in a process which would supposedly allow them to commune with the rain god and thereby please him; thus came about the planet’s first “communion services.”
If it did not rain, then the entire process would be repeated in a few days, over and over until rain finally came. Those religious / spiritual leaders did not want the masses to understand their prurient, perverted, sexual proclivities.
And for thousands of years, that which religious leaders did not want their ignorant followers to understand could fill many volumes.
[At the first Christian Council of Nicea, the Roman emperor Constantine the First had the assembly dictate that only priests should read “the scriptures” and that the masses would have to turn in all copies of their “holy word” being circulated and which would be destroyed by the state religion.
One of the many state-religious laws which came out of the Nicean conferences was that the penalty for any person caught reading the Bible on her or his own was . . . death.]
RELIGIONS’ CONTINUED REENACTMENT AND IDEALIZATION OF AN ANCIENT CANNIBAL / VAMPIRE, BODY-BLOOD RITUAL
Meanwhile, some 2.4 billion Christians to this day still reenact and idealize the ancient cannibal / vampire, body-blood ritual that was based in the rape and murder of virgin.
In the U.S., a recent debate among some religious leaders involved whether the current President of the U.S. could continue to regularly “eat the body of Christ and drink the blood of Christ.”
[Meanwhile, Joe wanted to continue to eat body and drink blood. "Say it ain't so, Joe! Please! That's so nasty, Joe. Don't do it! Tell them to shove it!"]
Do you think any of the religious leaders want the masses to understand any part of the brutal and barbaric history of one of their major rituals which they hold so dear and which is central to their religious practices?
Again, Maharaj’s pointer is seen to be spot on: “Insanity is universal. Sanity is rare.”
THE ANCIENT ROOTS OF
THE WOKE-NESS / PRETENTIOUSNESS
CONNECTION
Moreover, so-called “spiritual movements” have long been a source of the woke-ness / pretentiousness connection referenced earlier, further aggravated by those who began believing - in terms of noumenal issues - that there is something supposedly even higher, namely, that “being spiritual is superior to merely being religious.”
A common belief in many Twelve Step groups is revealed in a statement which many of their members often share / brag about:
“I am not religious! I am spiritual!” or “We are not a religious group! We are a spiritual group!”
As for the religious institutions which take up a lot of time discussing “peace on earth,” is it not ironic that they have been the source of much of the fighting and killing which has occurred throughout the last several thousand years?
For thousands of years, Christians fought Jews to the death and later both would fight Muslims to the death. The fight continues to this day. Once the various members of each of those groups decided that “only their religion was the true and right religion” (and that only their denominations or sects were the true and right one within those religious) then a duality-based false sense of different-from-ment and thus better-than-ment manifested; simultaneously, conflict within those religions and outside those religions began and has never ended.
So, the early rapist and murderous and sociopath and psychopathic class of religious and spiritual leaders believed that they were “more woke” than the masses.
And the Jews thought - and think - that they are “more woke” and are therefore “God’s chosen people.”
And the Christians have thought - and think - that they are “more woke” than all others.
And the Muslims thought - and think - that they are “more woke” than the members of other religions (or the members of a Muslim sect which is different from their own).
So it is: “Insanity is universal. Sanity is rare.”
Here’s another key point:
Assign an ego-state to persons and a variety of ego-defense mechanisms will be triggered, especially the defense mechanism of egotism.
Indeed, a far different perspective is being called for than one which generates the adoption or assignment of false identities / false ego-states; than one which inspires the use of ego-defense mechanisms; and than one which inspires egotism and arrogance and a sense of better-than-ment.
And a far different perspective is being called for when it comes to continuing to support the institutions which have historically generated such attitudes which - in turn - have generated such widespread and long-lasting chaos and suffering and ignorance and insanity which those institutions have generated for thousands of year.
Peace, Unity, Love, Light and Sanity to all that might value those.
