FREEDOM FROM SHIFTING BETWEEN STATES OF HAPPINESS AND
UNHAPPINESS

So far we have seen that humans trapped in chaos and instability and who are unstable can enter into that condition and stay there as a result of personality (e.g., the Borderline Personality Disorder and the Addictive Personality Disorder which inspires an addiction to chaos in order to get an “adrenaline rush”);
as a result of mind problems (suffering from the Ultimate Sickness and three of its key symptoms identified by Maharaj as “ignorance, stupidity and insanity”);
and
as a result of emotional intoxication;
and
as a result of being driven by duality-based beliefs which generate and support “ignorance, stupidity and insanity”).
TREATMENT VIA THE NON-DUAL UNDERSTANDING
The non-realized (meaning those who have not cast aside all false beliefs and who continue to be driven by “ignorance, stupidity and insanity”) believe wholehearted in false personal identifications, in false selves, in false ego-states, in false roles, etc. which they have been assigned and / or assumed.
As for the “realized,” for the sake of discussion only, the pure / unblocked universal consciousness can be employed to understand what impersonal awareness is as opposed to any version of self or “Self.”
It is totally abnormal when someone comes up with a label and tells another human that you are “this” or you are “that” (as if all seem to agree when people in positions of authority display this attitude: “We are leaders in this culture and what we say goes. If we say you are a criminal and we kill criminals, you’re dead meat.”)
Consider how many unquestioningly accept their culture’s assignment of false personality identifications such as when the persons authorized to perform marriage ceremonies say, “I now pronounce you man and wife or spouse and spouse.”
Both at that point are totally screwed. Why?
Consider:
The
actual cause of divorce is . . . marriage and the assignment of false
identifications during the ceremony.
Why? The wisest among the sages have long understood why, as indicated by their advice to never
follow the phrase “I am” with anything - any noun or
adjective - because the subsequent statement will automatically be a lie. The freedom of identitylessness
comes only with realization.
Humans assigned an ego-state or false personality identification have a habit: after accepting a personal identity as real, they will soon use the ego-defense mechanism of egotism to upgrade their false identities and to downgrade the false identities of others.
So the officiates who perform religious and marriage ceremonies set the ball to divorce rolling by assigning new false identifications to couples. That assignment will contribute to the 50% to 60% divorce rates in so-called “developed countries.”
And why? Because identities - driven by a primary desire and a primary fear - will fight to the finish to preserve themselves and to avoid perceived threats. So what happens with the couple being married?
Once that role becomes fixed in the mind, the only thing required is another co-dependent counterpart role player willing to go along with the identities the two have accepted in order to “exist.” Initially, all that The Wife needs to “be” is A Husband; all the Husband needs for continuity of itself is The Wife.
But then the upgrading and the downgrading will soon begin, and The Wife - in her mind - becomes The Super Wife and The Husband in his mind becomes The Super Husband.
Now for that new and improved ego-state to “exist,” The Husband is not enough. The Super Wife must have a Super Husband to “exist” and The Super Husband must have a Super Wife to “exist.” And neither will be conscious of the new, self-upgraded roles which they now believe in.
Simultaneously, their perspectives about what is required and what they deserve and what they soon begin to supposedly witness will be a Not-Super Wife and a Not-Super Husband.
Soon, The Super Wife will develop a roaming eye, on the watch for her Not-Super Husband’s replacement, and vice-versa with him.
Thus,
the pointer that the actual cause of
divorce is . . . marriage. Why? Because it is a concept which is inundated
with misperception, especially the misperception around “Magic Marriage Math”
as symbolized in some cultures with the ceremonial “Unity Candle.”
Mounted on a stand with a three-part candleholder, the larger unity candle is
at the center with two lit candles burning on either side.
At
some point in the ceremony, the couple will be instructed to approach the stand, to each take one of the smaller
candles in hand, to join their flames at the wick of the larger candle, and -
once it is lit - to blow out the flame on the smaller candles.
And with that “poof” goes their former identities and with the burning unity
candle comes their new identities of The Spouse;
hence,
the magic math whereby “2” becomes “1” and both now “own” something new,
namely, “MY Spouse" or “MY Husband” or “MY Wife,” and what might have been perceived to be
okay for “A Friend” is no longer acceptable for “MY Spouse.” New expectations
are born with newly-assigned upgraded or downgraded identities.
Maharaj, therefore, identified the “relationship” continuum as a mental shift
through many assigned and assumed personas:
“Stranger” to “Acquaintance” to “Friend” to “Partner” or “Significant Other” to
“Fiancé / Fiancée” to “Spouse” to “Life Partner” to “The Super Spouse” to “The
Super Spouse Who Comes To Believe That She Or He Is Not With A Super Spouse”. . .
. . . to “Combatant” to “Enemy” to “Mortal Enemy” to “Divorcé / Divorcée” to “The Miserable and Suffering One Who Enters Into Another Quest To Find Someone To Start The Whole False Identity-Role Player Cycle All Over Again.”
Now all of that mess came about with the assignment and acceptance of one identity. Consider that persons who reach a thirty-five or forty-year marker in their manifestation will have likely assumed up to eighty false identities during those years.
Then note how much chaos came with the acceptance of just one new label applied by one’s culture; then guesstimate the instances of suffering brought about on the chaotic roller coaster ride through the relative existence which one has been on for decades as . . .
. . . The Failed Student and The Failed Employee or The Failed Businessperson or The Failed Homeowner or The Failed Driver or The Failed This or That, etc., etc., etc. and scores more false identities which “failed” during the times when one has been swept about by the vicissitudes of the winds of unwelcome or unpleasant changes and circumstances and fortune.
Several personality types inspire people to minimize and distort their reality and support their perfectionist views by making a duality-based statement and saying, “Hey, Bro. It’s all good.”
The non-dualist understands that it not all good and it’s not all bad, and dealing with those two dualistic concepts creates a spectrum which also traps persons in instability and in being unstable and in being emotionally-intoxicated and in being driven by delusion.
So it is, but so it need not be.
