FROM A SITE VISITOR: You mention “Realization,” “awakening,” “liberation,” “Full Realization,” “Awareness,” “Enlightenment,” all sorts of terms that I thought meant the same. Do they or not? And what about self knowledge, self realization and self actualization? I’ve seen those too. Thank you. Greg

F.: As you may have noticed yesterday, the words and terms from your list will be discussed in ways that may not seem “typical” to some. The explanations will be based in the experiences that were experienced before “the experiencer” disappeared.

Today, “liberation” will be discussed since it refers to that which results after the “awakening” begins (if one travels the steps of the “path” in the proper sequence). If the “100% aware” state is to happen [see the reference in yesterday’s post], the “journey” to that state must begin with a rejection of, that is, with being liberated from, body-mind-personality identification.

While transitioning the earliest steps of the “journey,” seekers still take it that there is “someone” to be freed. Later, that “one” will no longer be taken as real, but the perception can be allowed to stand at the early stage.

Liberation from body identification can occur when a seeker realizes, for example, that "whatever I Am, it would still be, even if both arms and both legs were removed." At that level, you could report that “Yes, I would still be Me, even without those body parts…even if some organs were removed...even if other organs were transplanted into the body.”

Liberation continues as the content of the “mind,” which is nothing more than a storehouse of false concepts and ideas that have been accepted as “truth” because of programming and enculturation, is questioned and rejected.

Then liberation from personality can happen. Here is an excerpt from the book entitled Liberation that discusses that aspect of the “journey”:

Personality is (1) that which generates personas and (2) that which allows things to be taken personally.

A persona is an assumed social role or a character played by an actor, the term having been derived from the Latin word for “mask” or “character.” Personas are all of the false identities that persons think define “who they are.” In fact, they define everything that one is not.

“Taking anything personally” can only happen when a persona is assumed as a false identity and then takes offense at the words or actions of another when an assumed identity thinks that it is being hurt, interfered with, or threatened. What conclusion can be drawn from knowing that? All instances of feeling hurt, interfered with, threatened, fearful, desirous, miserable or in pain originate from assuming false identities and then wanting to defend or protect false identities. Therefore, to be free of feeling hurt, interfered with, threatened, fearful, desirous, miserable, in pain or defensive requires being free of personas…being free of the entrapment in personality.

Thousands of personas are assumed by persons: husband, lover, homeowner, employee, employer, wife, son, ad infinitum; however, as a result of genetics and environment and other factors, all persons develop one dominate persona while assuming scores of others. Often, that dominant persona is overlaid onto (or combined with) all other assumed roles.

Only nine primary personality types exist, and since persons become most driven by their type, most separated from Self by that type, and most absorbed in “self” via that type, then the “journey” to liberation can begin with an effort to be rid of the influence of the dominate personality type. Then the secondary types and personas might be abandoned more easily.

To transition beyond those three levels of false identification and to enter a state of "Child Ignorance," (that is, free of the learned ignorance that accumulated as a result of faulty programming and the warping of the consciousness) is to be "liberated."

While some take "liberation" to be the same as "Realization," it is not. One can be liberated from belief in lies and nonsense and concepts and ideas even before one knows the "truth" which cannot be spoken. One can be liberated, but ultimately, even the "one" being freed will finally disappear and there not be any "one" to be liberated. Please enter into the silence of contemplation. (To be continued)
