Today's Considerations
Maharaj was so spot on: Realization really is something that is so "very simple." It merely involves enlightenment and liberation. That process which was originally so simple that people in certain areas (such as some in the Far East, some of whom migrated farther to the east and became known as "the indigenous peoples of the Americas"), were able to intuitively grasp the non-dual understanding before there were non-dual talks and non-dual texts and non-dual books and "non-dual teachers."
Among the latter, the more anal-retentive "knower" types over the centuries and over the millennia have caused what was a simple message to become a highly-complex message, and there's the rub today: no one can ever understand a simple message if they are trying to understand it through the use of a bastardized version of the original teachings which now warps a simple message in a needlessly-complicated and complex and convoluted and drawn out message.
Consider how simple Realization could be if three terms were truly understood:
"Realization": the process whereby programmed and conditioned and acculturated and domesticated and brainwashed and indoctrinated persons (who have been strapped with a complex existence because what they have been taught has filled the mind-parts of their brains with nonsense and personality identifications which have led to widespread personality disorders and neuroses and psychoses) might be freed from the consequences of the resulting ignorance and insanity. That insanity now causes them to normalize the abnormal; thus, misery and suffering are generated because of that taught-and-learned nonsense which is being stored in the mind-parts of their brains alongside the bogus beliefs which they have been taught about "who they are." [Hence, the duality associated with mind and personality identifications.]
Enlightenment: the process of casting light on the darkness which accompanies the Ultimate Sickness, a mental sickness which all among the non-Realized masses are now suffering from and which Maharaj said is characterized by the symptoms of "ignorance and insanity," among other traits as well. It is the darkness of ignorance and insanity which prevents humans from seeing clearly; it is light / enlightenment which allows humans to see clearly and thereby distinguish a rope from a snake (and, more importantly, a snake from a rope). An inability to immediately spot a snake as a snake and to believe instead that it is only a harmless rope will get you some fighting and conflict and a 50%+ divorce rate and religious wars and local and regional and national and global wars.
Liberation: Freedom from being driven by the hidden agendas of personalities / personas / false identities / images / roles / and phony characters that are being acted out on the stage of the "Theatre of the Lie" on a daily, non-stop basis.
The brain is natural, rooted in the elements; the consciousness is natural, rooted in the field of absolute (a.k.a., "Absolute") pure and unadulterated awareness with the potential to manifest temporarily as conscious-energy; the mind, on the other hand, is unnatural - rooted in the perverted and distorted programming and conditioning and acculturation and domestication and brainwashing and indoctrination to which every person on the planet is being subjected.
So the problem of the Ultimate Sickness centers in the mind where all bogus beliefs - including bogus beliefs about "personal identifications - are stored. The two mind-parts of the brain account for 1/600th of 1% of the brain's volume, but what is stored in those two mind-parts accounts for 100% of the nonsensical thoughts and duality-conveying words and insane actions of all non-Realized persons.
Frequent visitors to this site know that persons can be assigned or can assume eighty or ninety or one hundred different personas / personalities / false identities throughout a relative existence; however, all personality development begins early on as people adopt, to one degree of another, the characteristics (and liabilities, relatively speaking) of all nine of the basic personality types.
Earlier, there was a discussion of how the hidden agendas of the first four of those types lead humans to go and do and zoom and race about through the entire manifestation. To review:
The going and doing and zooming of Type Ones (Perfectionists) is a result of their desire to reform persons and, really, the entire world. They try to make everyone over in their own image. They are running toward a desire to be flawless and always right about everything and they are running away from their fear of being imperfect.
The going and doing and zooming of Type Twos (Helpers / Rescuers) is a result of their desire to be loved by all, to try to people-please everyone in order to get the love now which they did not receive in the quantity desired during childhood. They are running away from their early sense of not having been truly loved and are running toward love-accumulation on a mass scale.
The going and doing and zooming of Type Threes (Performers / Imagemakers / Achievers) is a result of their desire to develop and maintain a phony but seemingly wonderful image which will result in their being admired and applauded by all. They are running away from their fear of failure and toward their desire for either (a) success or, if success does not come, then (b) at least the appearance of success.
The going and doing and zooming of Type Fours (Romanticists, or Realists if Realized) is a result of an early desire to escape and isolate, which can sometimes evolve into a later desire to Realize and to be in conscious contact with Reality and authenticity.
